After hearing about Alta Coffee on TikTok, I was in the area and decided pick up my morning coffee around 9:30am on a Sunday. When in line, I noticed the online orders were getting out much faster than waiting to order at the register. I decided to order online and waited around 10 minutes. By the time I left, the person in front of me originally was still in line and barely getting inside. Orders were called out and picked up at their outside patio table. If you know what you want and not ordering to dine in, I highly recommend using their online option. (Especially when it's busy like this on the weekends.) I ordered their iced vanilla dirty chai and it did not disappoint! If in the area again, I will for sure be stopping by. read more

Honestly I love Alta Coffee so much! Their Bueno Bowl is the best thing on the menu! I'll do once a month trips to get their breakfast bowl and a toffee latte which is SO GOOD!! I always order take out and it takes like 15-20 mins which I LOVEEE. Such fast orders. I constantly return to this place and will continue returning. read more

Following up on the Tiktok hype, I don't think it lives up to it. It's known for its Dirty Chai Latte or Chai Latte. This drink is definitely delicious... though I didn't think it tasted like chai -- it's more liked a cinnamon coffee, but at least it's good! Also ordered a honey latte and a toffee nut latte, both 1/2 sweetness. I hoped it would be as good as the dirty chai, but their coffee is very weak so it was fairly bland. read more

I ordered a caramel latte with oat milk and a veggie omelette. The veggie omelette was definitely the star of the show! My goodness it was packed with yummy veggies with incredible seasoning. The coffee was disappointing. Seems like everyone and their mother comes here for their coffee. Its fairly weak and its nothing spectacular. Maybe it was the barista? Who knows. I was not impressed. read more

I love this place. A lot changed when Covid hit but it looks like things are looking up again! They are very organized, structured and clean. Service quick. Beautiful plants everywhere and for the fall season they have a pumpkin pie chai latte. --it's not too strong on the pumpkin which I personally like. Alta is known for their chai lattes so you can't go wrong with ordering one! There's indoor and outdoor seating. The breakfast burritos or dishes are always great. Worth a stop if you haven't been lately or wanting to go for the first time. read more

The food was horrible, I probably will not be able to eat tuna for the foreseeable future because of how sickening this sandwich was. The veggie sandwich was a joke, the only reason it was vegetarian was because it didn't have any meat. The cheese was pre- shredded and there were literally 3 sprouts on the sandwich and a blob of underripe avocado. It's sad because this place used to be so fantastic. read more

I tried their viral iced dirty chai latte and it was okay. Nothing too special. I wouldn't come back to retry it. The drink was very milky, and overall I couldn't appreciate the coffee or chai. I'm glad I tried out for myself though and got rid of the curiosity. Didn't live up to hype. If it's a drive to you skip and just go to Tierra Mia instead and order an iced horchata latte or horchata cold brew to satisfy your craving. 3 of us ordered a latte, all 3 drinks were awful. The espresso is sour (shots aren't pulled right?) and truly undrinkable. So disappointing. Staff is friendly and the place looked like a cute place to eat. Based off of the coffee experience, would never go back unfortunately. read more

I woke up on a Sunday morning to come here at 7 o'clock. It was nice because there is no line in plenty of parking in the front. I ordered a large chai and a surfer burrito. My order came out super fast. And the servers were really nice. The dirty chai had a good flavor, but tasted a little bit too milky. The surfer burrito was really good but a little on the dry side. I would definitely come back again and try something different though. read more

Love this place but MAN you gotta fix your online ordering. If you order an omelette, but don't want cottage cheese, fruit, or potatoes, you can only get ala carte. which means no toast & jam. Sorry, but that's part of it for me! Bummer I keep just getting an omelette "a la carte" & no toast. & don't bother typing it in the special request area, nobody reads it. Just a PSA, if you are ordering a non-dairy coffee drink from Alta, they do NOT rinse or use a separate blender/cups to prepare their non-dairy drinks. I just watched a worker prepare my oat milk latte with the same blender they used for a whole milk drink and the worker did not rinse or use a separate blender. This seems like potential a health hazard for those with dairy allergies/sensitivities. read more

Popular coffee/restaurant in Newport Beach, when I came there was a line outside and it was fairly busy and crowded. Metered street parking was easy to find. They have indoor seating and an outdoor patio. I ordered a pickup order to go, almond milk latte and the smoked salmon bagel sandwich. You can choose to do half a sandwich or full. It was pretty good, I will say there was more tomato than there was smoked salmon, but it was still good. Love that there wasn't too much cream cheese on there, the perfect amount, and they use caper cream cheese for this sandwich. It's also topped with red onion (omit if you're concerned about breath!), and sprouts. It comes with a side of fruit, or chips. The latte was good but nothing special. Would come here if you're in the area and looking for a local spot to dine or pick up but wouldn't drive out of my way for it. read more

If you are in OC, you've heard of Alta! its super cute and you order at the counter outside. The outdoor seating is also cute and cozy. The lines get crazy so I order pickup and its always ready in like 5-10 minutes. Ive only tried the Dirty Vanilla Iced Chai which is sooo thick and creamy!! Anytime I want a chai latte I come straight here. Ive tried the food once before and its okay, but I feel like everyone has to try this vanilla chai at least once in their life lol! read more

My favorite cafe in Newport! I've come here 4 times in the past couple months and always bring different friends. Have always been able to get a table on their cute outdoor patio. A really cute coffee shop located in Newport near Lido Marina. There was a lot of street parking, but I can see that parking may be difficult on the weekends or during busier hours. I got the chai tea latte and my friend got the dirty chai tea latte, both with oat milk. I think the dirty chai latte was better than the regular chai latte because the regular one straight up tastes like soggy cinnamon toast crunch with milk. Not bad and I can't say I wouldn't get it again, but I'm not sure it's worth the price of $7 comparatively to other coffee shops with the same drink. read more

I dont know how I feel about the viral dirty chai. If you don't like sweet drinks, you might not like this so much. Came all the way out here just to try this viral drink and sad to report that it did not live up the hype. Flavor is good but the drink overall was way sweet. You order from a window and service is pretty fast. Parking is not great but not terrible. Meh! read more

I found Alta Coffee through Yelp and had a great experience! We were there on a Monday morning and it was not too busy. We sat outside in the cute patio area where we had no problem getting a table. I tried their iced mocha with oat milk and loved it. It was the perfect combination of espresso flavor and chocolate flavor. For food I tried their breakfast burrito with veggie sausage. The burrito is huge and can definitely be shared between two people. The burrito comes with plenty of avocado on top, sour cream on the side, and salsa on the side. It had good flavor and was very good! recommend coming to Alta Coffee for a delicious meal and coffee! read more

I've been coming here for years and have never once had a bad experience, the coffee and food are always amazing and i've never had any issues with the staff. Today, however, the white british sounding woman taking my order was snarky and condescending to me. I had simply misheard her and repeated back what she said to me and she responded with "what else did you think i said?" in a snarky tone then tried to laugh it off like it wasn't rude. I proceeded to pay and wait for my order. A few minutes go by and I overhear her tell the kitchen staff, "there's an pinche dodgers fan waiting for his food." for my fellow white people, that translates to "f**king dodgers fan." I was literally in shock that she was speaking about me that way. I was never rude, was never unappreciative of service, literally just waking up and trying to get some food. This doesn't change my opinion on the food and drinks, I just hope when I come back I don't see this woman again. read more

Came here on a Wednesday afternoon. It was pretty slow with maybe two people in line and I was the last person in line. It was my first time going here I had heard such great reviews about their chai and I wanted to try it for myself when I got there the girl taking my order was extremely rude. She was rushing me even though it was my first time and no one was behind me and I had a couple questions. She was very short , and it took away from the experience because I was really excited to try this place After placing my order when I received my coffee, my coffee was all over the lid and on the sides of my cup, which was really gross. I had to ask the other employee for a new lid. I also ordered an espresso shot on the side to try their coffee and I got cold brew concentrate instead as seen in the picture. Overall, I was very disappointed with the service aspect of this place. The service from this place was very disappointing. I will not lie the chai was very yummy and I'm not able to speak on the espresso because I didn't get what I ordered. read more

Absolutely blown away by my first visit to Alta Coffee--and it's all thanks to Emi and Roman! I originally stopped by for a matcha, however, didn't realize it was not on the menu. Roman recommended the iced dirty chai, and wow... it was amazing. Emi was incredibly kind and attentive, making sure I felt welcomed and taken care of. It's rare to find a place with both great drinks and genuinely warm service, but Emi and Roman made it happen. Can't wait to come back! read more

Maple Leaf Farms Duck Breast - I really enjoyed this dish and was very comforting while not being too heavy. Spiced NZ Rack of Lamb - I believe this is a signature dish and was great without being gamey. Overall, really solid dishes and I was pleasantly surprised. The waitstaff was also great.

But the star of the show was the pastrami breakfast tacos I have never had anything like that before. It was so good and I will definitely be back for that! The Serrano masked the overly chunky tri tip and my palate. If the Serrano chilis were diminished by a half or even two thirds, this would be a far better sandwich. The quality of the sesame seeded hero bus was great and I could taste it, but overshadowed by the Serranos.I could tell the cheese sauce was also well thought out and executed on its own, but again the chilis masked all that goodness. The same goes for the chunky sauteed onions, whose sweetness could have offered a nice counterpoint to the tri tip and chilis, but was overwhelmed by the chilis. This also applied to the tri tip, whose Wagyu flavor should have been at the center of this sandwich, but was pushed aside by the Serranos. You're onto a good thing with this Tri Tip and I was looking forward to enjoying it, given we don't commonly see the tri tip cut on the East Coast. When you run this special again, back off the Serranos by a considerable amount and chop the tri tip a bit more finely so one can eat it without having to eat oversized chunks. The quality is there, but the balance and execution were off. 3.4 stars

Leading with "I can't" is never the right customer service instinct, especially for something as basic as a receipt. I also tried to buy the butter they import from France. I stood at the case for several minutes with no acknowledgment. I finally walked over to the nearest employee (her name was Lucy) who was finishing up with a customer at the register right next to the butter section. I politely asked if she could help me when she was free. She looked at me, nodded, and said she would. Then proceeded to assist every customer who lined up behind that original customer without once glancing back in my direction. In fact, I had enough time to walk to the bakery, go through the entire gift card situation as mentioned above, and return to the butter section, and Lucy still hadn't looked over.
