Came here one morning for breakfast, saw they had lots of great reviews, stood in a long line, excited for the food and coffee. Not knowing I was about to eat the worst burrito of my life. I do not like writing bad reviews, but the Surfer burrito needs a trigger warning next to it on the menu. I didn't know burritos that bad existed in the Southern California area, and it was pricey! Alta used to be a midnight hangout joint now it's a breakfast/lunch cafe with satisfying ingredients! Unaware of their recent 'tik tok trend', we were introduced to the chai latte with oatmilk and some other modern flavors I can't 'member. It was very delicious and incredibly sweet. I had to alternate between sips of black coffee and swigs of latte shots but everyone has a different palette. The huevos con frijoles is exactly what you'd expect when placing the order. Nothing disappoints, even the portion. Eggs were scrambled fluffy with rich avocado, pico de gallo, black beans.. perfect breakfast plate. The bueno bowl, from looking at it one might think it's not enough but by the time you get to the tortilla chips, past the sausage patty, you're just about to regret that carrot cake you got waiting for you. Or veggie patty in my case. So satisfied with protein all you wanna do is go home and take an energetic nap. I'll definitely be back! Whoever created the menu knows exactly what their audience wants. I love Alta though today was the worst service I have ever gotten. I placed an online an order for 2 drinks at 0724 and didn't receive my drinks u Tim 0748. I had to ask for it and they still had to make. I saw so many other guests receive their order before me when they have been waiting in line. Waiting more than 25 minutes is uncalled for. Really good breakfast burrito! We got the Surfer Burrito. It's pretty classic, nothing too special, but hits the spot if you're looking for a nice breakfast burrito & you're close by. The potatoes are pretty average, but the flavors of everything else are solid. Salsa is top tier - probably the highlight! Their salsa definitely stands out compared to others out there. We mobile ordered, which was a good call. Super easy, and ready to go in about 10 mins. We were already on our way, and it was ready when we got there, sooner than the estimated pickup time even. It's a pretty small place, & just has street parking. We didn't have any issues on a Friday morning in February but I'm sure it gets crowded sometimes. read more

i've been here a couple times now, neither occasion being super memorable on being super good or bad. the pesto toast was pretty good, but the fruit didn't seem too fresh. the lavender latte tasted a little bit weird, but i still finished it. the next time i tried the iced vanilla chai with a shot of espresso that they are known for and it was good but superrr sweet. i would still go back and try other food and drinks from there, just not sure if the quality is worth the price. i do want to mention though that both times i went there, the service was great and everyone was very helpful. vibe felt like a cute little hidden cafe just tucked away from the main streets of newport beach. read more

We were in the area on a Saturday morning so I put in an online order (which is a lifesaver, the line was sooo long!). Our order was ready on time! I also had to use the restroom and it was easy to find even when we weren't dining in (it's at the back of the patio). We got a vanilla latte, the viral dirty chai, a lox bagel, and the breakfast sandwich. Vanilla latte was sour? and the dirty chai was just... alright. I thought it would be amazing but there are so many better coffee shops in OC worth your money and time. The lox bagel was average, and the breakfast sandwich was really nothing special... could've easily made the same scrambled eggs and toast at home. All that for more than $40 is definitely NOT worth it. Hardly any parking, super long lines, and a bit pricey all for some average food. I love this spot, but it's become rather inconsistent... I've been going to Alta fairly consistently over the past 10 years at least. It's always been an easy go-to spot for me. I now work super close to Alta & it's become a super easy option for a coffee or snack during the work week. I really enjoy the place, the workers are all kind, & the environment of the cafe is super quaint & peaceful. Their food & drinks are good, simple, nothing over the top. My only issue as of recently has been the inconsistency of their food & drinks. I order online & pick up at the counter pretty often & don't order anything crazy. I've noticed just small mistakes in my orders within maybe the last month or so. For example, a latte should have espresso in it, not cold brew. Sometimes when ordering iced lattes, I've received them made with cold brew instead of espresso, which makes the latte taste drastically different than if it were made with espresso. As well as small mistakes like ordering scrambled eggs & adding bacon for an additional $1.75, but then opening my order to only eggs. Or ordering a bagel with a side of butter, but receiving a side of cream cheese instead. The workers always fix it & they are very apologetic about it, which I appreciate, but it's gotten frustrating when I am in a rush on my 10 minute break & need to address it, when online pick up is intended for convenience. I will of course still be going to Alta, but hopefully the cooks or workers can take a little bit more time when looking at the online orders, because it just seems like the same mistakes keep happening. I've known about Alta for years and have visited a few times, but last Saturday morning was the first time in a while. We got in a little after 7am after a walk around Lido. I ordered an iced cold brew and the pesto avocado toast. I haven't had pesto with avocado toast but it ended up being a delicious pairing. The sriracha they added on top added a perfect balance of spice to the fattiness of the avocado and pesto. The scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly and were light and fluffy. Since we arrived a little after they opened, it was open in the patio with one or two other parties. The guy in the front was very nice. It started to get busier as it got closer to 8am but everyone was courteous and in a good mood. It seemed to be mostly regulars that walked in from the surrounding neighborhood. I would definitely stop by again. Especially to try their chai latte because I didn't know they were popular for that until reading the recent reviews on here. read more

Saw this coffee place on my Tiktok most known for their dirty chai and that is exactly what i got. As a non coffee drinker and matcha lover, i wasn't too sure if I would like this drink. I got a 16oz Iced Dirty Chai Spiced with regular milk for $7.50 Upon first sip, this drink was creamy and sweet. Loved that I couldn't taste too much of the espresso and since i got it spiced i got more of the chai notes in the drink!
