Nice lady and all but the service was not as expected. Even though there was a language barrier, she understood what I needed to get done and by what day. I came in on a Wednesday and needed gown to be altered because of my weight gain in pregnancy. I let her know that I needed it by that Saturday and she wrote it down on the receipt. Came in on Saturday, she had trouble locating the gown and when she found it, it wasn't even touched. She told me to come back Monday, I reiterated that I needed it that day!! I needed to grab some cash anyway so I told her I'd be back. From my understanding, she said she will work on it and to come back around 3 to 330 for the dress. Came back and the place was closed!!!!!!!! I was so upset... I had to get another dress for the event that night. Organization should improve.. This tailor shop is a small business run by Guadalupe, an extremely sweet and reliable lady. I was recommended to come here for some alterations by a friend and I was extremely pleased! Wonderful and efficient work with a fast turn around. I needed some pants hemmed and a zipper replaced, she gave me a very affordable price but also did a perfect job. I get nervous leaving my clothes anywhere, but Guadalupe did a great job and communicated very well. Just fyi for future customers, Guadalupe only speaks Spanish, so if you're a non Spanish speaker and have to let her do something complex, this is not the place for you. Bring cash. Also, I've dropped off my dress more than a week before the pick up date and apparently she does the alteration on the day of pick up so consider picking up your dress at a later time or probably call before heading out. The only reason it's not a perfect 5 stars is that her English is pretty rough so communication can be challenging when you want something more complicated than a simple hem. However when I had an issue with a piece of work she did, we whipped out our google translate on our phones, figured it out, and she fixed the garment without charging anything additional. Guadalupe was very kind in assisting with my blouse. When I walked in, she was the only one in the office space and she was assisting a young woman with a dress. I didn't have to wait even two minutes before being helped and when I asked if I could come by later to pick up my blouse she said sure! She was super fast- in 1 hour my blouse was fixed perfectly. Guadalupe is very nice, she's from Peru and speaks little English, so be prepared to bust out with google translate if there is no Spanish speaker in the room with you. I had a very horrible experience here. I decided to bring my dress here for alteration due to the yelp reviews. I will never go back here again. Here's why... I brought my dress on a Monday. She said that I can pick it up on Friday. When I went to pick it up... it was NOT done. She apologized and told me to give her 2 hours so she can do it. However, I couldn't go back the same day, so we agreed that I will pick it up the following week on Monday. She had the whole weekend to do my dress, but when I got there... She FORGOT again!!! I had to come back after an hour. It was finally altered. I had to go back 3x just to get my dress! After this horrible experience... She didn't even offer me a refund or discount or credit. NOTHING. She was very unprofessional. Go at your own risk but I would have paid a little more to alter my dress at a more professional business. read more

I found this business through Yelp and decided to try it because of all the good reviews. Unfortunately, I didn't have a good experience. Owner said I could pick up my items on Wednesday; I said I'd pick them up on Saturday instead. So, she had a few extra days. When I went to pick up my things, 2 out of 3 weren't finished. I showed the unfinished items to her (one of which was a dress with the straps unsewn so they were just hanging off the dress - very obviously not finished), she didn't offer an explanation or an apology. When I went to pick up the items again, she was annoyed that I knocked twice (this place is small so it wouldn't take long to get to the door; nevertheless I waited before knocking the second time). She was curt and again didn't offer an apology for not having the items done on time. Also, the work is ok-- a little sloppy compared to other alterations I've had done. Guadalupe's work is unlike any other! I decided to wait to write this review until having had a few pieces altered by her, as I am very particular about who I trust with alterations. To say I am beyond impressed by her workmanship and craftsmanship is an understatement. She is a truly talented seamstress. I have taken three complex dresses to her to be shortened and brought in, and they look impeccable. They look straight out of the store, as is no alterations were ever made, and now my dresses fit me like a glove. Her turn around time is usually three days, which I think is very quick, and her prices are so reasonable. She's also incredibly nice and doesn't change an inch unless you request it. After reading reviews I decided to try out this place. She did an amazing job at altering my sons tuxedo. He is very tall and slender. She new all the areas to alter. He looks so handsome. Yes. She does not speak fluent English but she understands what you need. I brought it in on Saturday and she advised it would be ready on Wednesday. I called her Tuesday to make sure. She confirmed. You didn't move into an English silo - you moved into a metropolis- act metropolitan if you can't actually become multilingual. This tailor is so skilled she transformed a vintage Mexican dress into a stunning graduation dress for my daughter. Perfect fit and attention to detail. We have brought dozens of pieces to her including a special request to create some pieces from concept to reality all with excellent results. Anyone looking for quality should visit her. Guadalupe is a gem of the east side. First time I came to her was on the recommendation of a friend after I hulked out of a jumpsuit (it was just as embarrassing as it sounds).
