Alushe has become our go-to spot for coffee and small food items in the Inner Richmond. I took my parents there for lunch before going to the De Young. My mom got the veggie and humita empanada, my dad got the empanada and tamale combo, and I got the yucateco bagel. My mom really enjoyed the veggie and humita empanadas, although she slightly preferred the veggie empanada. They were cooked very nicely and had a generous amount of filling. My dad liked the chicken tamale and humita empanada, although he preferred the humita empanada over the tamale. I really liked the yucateco bagel, which had scrambled eggs with tomato and onions, as well as cream cheese and avocado. The jalapeño cheddar bagel could've been a little spicier and cheesier, but the eggs were scrambled nicely and had the perfect amount of cream cheese and avocado to supplement the eggs. Great food for a reasonable price, and the service is phenomenal. Love this place and will be back again. read more

Steak & Egg Burrito - Our guest not from SF enjoyed this, but then he ended up getting non stop phone calls, so I do not think he enjoyed his breakfast either. Again, no fault of theirs. It is just going to be one of those days... Combo 3 - 1 empanada, 1 tamale and a side, I chose home potatoes. The empanadas were good, a little over-steamed for my liking, but still good. The tamale was way over-steamed. I prefer more body as it was way too soft for me. Home Potatoes - Done perfectly, perfectly fried; I would have enjoyed more. Made to order, so be patient. Ambiance - Decent size location. But not many tables...? Approximately 10 tables and some counter seating. Cool decor; see pictures. 50% of their customers seem to take their food to-go. Clean and one unisex toilet. Open 6 days a week. Closed Sundays. Service - 5 Stars; friendly and welcoming. Need a key for the toilet; they actually walk you and let you in. Sounds like characters and names of television show, streaming show or movie titles. These are drink items you will find from a coffee bar in the Richmond District in San Francisco. On a Spring stroll on Geary street I decided I needed something refreshing on another San Francisco sunny day walking around the concrete jungle. Inside Alushe the decor feels like stepped into the forrest of a jungle with lots of animal paintings on the walls and miniature statues from the Mayan ruins in Yucatán. Lots choices on the menu and I decided to go with Orange mean machine smoothie. It had peach, orange juice, pineapple, peanut butter, and vanilla. It was not too sweet with the combination of savory. It was refreshing but a thick breezy smoothie. They also have bagels and fresh pressed juices such as the Jaguar Punch ( not Punch the viral monkey) which has strawberry, apple, and a drop of lemon. Come here if you want something savory and cheesy in SF and also grab a breezy smoothie. I loved the variety and uniqueness of specialty lattes and would come back to try more of those I was intrigued by. the carrot cake latte didn't really taste like carrot cake but it was good, not too sweet. the pistachio lime combo was more prominent and interesting, but could be a bit stronger of both flavors. the espresso base was good in both! read more

This is a great Mexican Deli type casual restaurant, offering a wide range of familiar Mexican casual food offerings, but also offering Coffees, too! Great spot in the Inner Richmond district of SF! It is like Starbucks meets El Farolito, or Peet's meets La Taqueria! Except it is family run, it is cleaner than those other food places, and has a lot more table and chairs to sit at then El Farolito. Plus it has beautiful, full wall murals that are gorgeous and makes you feel like you are somewhere in Latin America, sipping your Java while stuffing your abdominal storage unit with yummy food! And there is a lot to store! I ordered a medium Latte, with 2%, and a "Super" (add avocado and sour cream) Pollo (chicken) Quesadilla, and wow, that Quesadilla was humongous among us! It could feed 2! I couldn't finish it and I asked for a take away box! I couldn't eat more than half of it! So thick and tasty! And that all came out to $20. Enough to stuff my pie hole, fill my storage unit, and some extra for late night snack on a second go at it! Service was super nice and friendly from what I think perhaps was 3 generations of Family here when I was meeting a client here? Very sweet people! Back in the day when I was traveling through Mexico, my go to meal was fresh Latin breakfast, fruit smoothies and a nice latte and this place brought huge nostalgia of that for me. My favorite chilaquiles! This cafe has the KINDEST staff and such good food. They always greet you like you are a regular when you come in. They have a super varied menu. Personally I always get the chilaquiles with green salsa (you can also get red), and it's not spicy but you can add spicy salsa on the side. I prefer their seasonal lattes over their coffee, but they have a lot of options. Inside there are a lot of tables and looks like your typical classic coffee shop. They are working on a beautiful mural right now, so that'll add some color. read more

By far one of my favorite coffee shops in San Francisco has to be Alushe Coffee Bar. From the moment you walk in, you're immersed in the beautiful Mayan aesthetic. The mural and decor really set the tone and make the space feel warm, vibrant, and unique. They have an amazing selection of lattes (menu on window entrance) and food and the barista was incredibly helpful in guiding us through the menu. I ended up ordering the Venus latte, a cardamom and lavender latte. It had a lovely hint of spice and wasn't overly sweet, which is something I often struggle with at other coffee shops. If you prefer sweeter drinks, they definitely have plenty of options for that too. My husband kept it simple with a coffee, and it was honestly one of the smoothest cups we've ever had. We also ordered the Yucateco croissant sandwich. It was delicious, filled with beans, tomatoes, onions, eggs, avocado, sour cream, and fresh Mexican cheese. My husband thought it could have used a little more salt, but that was easily fixed with some hot sauce. Overall, it was flavorful, hearty, and satisfying. It was so good that we actually went back for a second round later. That time I tried the Chairific Bananarama, a banana oat milk chai with cardamom and banana chips. It was amazing. Not too sweet and it genuinely tasted like fresh banana. The only downside is that I wish I lived in San Francisco so I could come here all the time. Parking: Standard Inner Richmond Parking--metered spots. It is on the corner of a busy street (Geary) so I'd suggest parking on one of the side streets. Would be more difficult during the weekends but weekdays shouldn't be too difficult. (FYI they are closed on Sundays) Service: Very friendly and kind service! Ambiance: Wide open and clean with plenty of tables. This would be a great place to work from (though I'm not sure about wifi and outlets) Food/Drinks: I can only speak to the coffee and I will tell you it was delicious but also STRONG! I am an avid coffee drinker and this one cup left me with the shakes. That being said, I loved it and it was worth the temporary anxiety lol. One of these days I will remember to take photos of the food before I throw it down my throat. First, what an absolute gem. So glad we found this place. Let me start with the people. The owners, Marcos and Jessica, are salt of the earth kind of people. Rare and beautiful humans and for me that is such a big part of the places I want to support. Goes even beyond good service. Oddly felt like family and we talked to them for maybe 10 min while we placed our to go order. Came over to say hi to our baby!! The place is a cute spot as well. Now let me get to the food and drinks. They have a juice bar. Yep. Got a orange, carrot ginger juice that was perfect. For food we ordered the empanadas (humita with corn onion bell pepper and steak), Yucateco sandwich and the chicken tamale and all of them were delicious. No complaints about any of it. Great spiced chai Latte, also had the green sauce chilequiles. Seemed plain at first but that was because the sauce isn't drizzled over the top, it's sitting on the bottom but once I realized that, I was able to mix it all together, and it had really good flavor. I don't recall the name of the dish my husband got but they made his order to his liking. Both dishes were good. And the customer service was nice. Lots of construction going on so it's hard to find street parking, but there is a small comfortable sitting area once inside. read more

I really enjoyed the very yummy breakfast burrito El Yucateco today for brunch. It's vegetarian and comes with salsa and chips. I like how this new cafe has a lot of yummy food offering instead of only drinks. I'm glad there are more Latin options in the Richmond now since I live only 1 block away. Wonderful new shop that opened with lovely service and a wide selection of fun drinks and food items! My highlights were the empanadas which come with a chimichurri and habanero sauce (delicious!) and the turkey sandwich on sourdough, they do NOT skimp out on the meat and everything is so good! We tried the Pistachio Coldbrew as part of their Winter menu and were pleasantly surprised at how light and refreshing it was!
