I would just say bump up the music a tiny bit louder and turn on the air conditioner! It was hot as heck in there, and doesn't help when u have the skewer flames in front of you at the table, and spicy food. A brief description of the items on the menu would be helpful too. Otherwise fast service, large variety of food selection, and delicious items.

Plenty of parking space outside. Arranged a weekend lunch here with a group of friends -from their interior decor to comfortable seating to delicious food, I can confidently say we will be back! You order through a QR code at your table, and honestly you just want to order everything on their menu. The variety of skewers all came out at once and placed on their skewer platter at the table. Everything was delivered in a timely manner, and the waitress was attentive with refilling our water pitcher. Be careful with the XLB because they're juicy! I bit into mine and all the soup splattered onto my plate and my top a bit. All of our tummies and tastes buds were satisfied! Oh- also thank u so much for providing us some dessert plates and forks for dessert we brought in to share with our group!

Having a get together with some friends when in town. A friend picked this place and it was delicious. They have lots of variety of skewers and side dishes to share. So glad there were 5 of us so we can taste most of the menu. We thought we over ordered but it was good portion size. Their dumplings and beef rolls were delicious. All the food came in a good timely matter and you don't feel like you have been waiting. Love the decor and super trendy. It reminded me when I was in Hong Kong. Toward the end of the night they have open mic karaoke. Seem super fun. Definitely a place for a group of friends. Will definitely come back when in town again.

Always Cool BBQ is a very fun place, especially if you come in a large group. I've been here a couple of times and both experiences were very different. The first time, I came with a large group and we ordered multiple dishes (family style). It was interesting trying the various options which is a lot!! Then we walked next door to do Karaoke and it was a lot of fun. The second time, I came only with my husband since we had been dreaming about the food since the last time we went but it was a bit different this time. It was too much for two and we didn't get to order too many dishes like the first time. I suggest coming with a group of 4 at least. Also, I believe the menu has changed a bit. Before you could order by the skewers but now you have to purchase 3 minimum which I wasn't a big fan of. To be honest the skewers are the least favorite dish from here. They were very chewy. We had the beef ones. The rest of the other dishes were delicious! My husband's favorite is the Spicy Fried Clams. They have the best ones I've tried. I'm not a huge fan of clams but the ones here are delicious! We also have the Onion Pancakes (they were better the first time we ordered vs the second time). The second time they were very thin band didn't taste like onion pancakes. The combo fried rice was good and my favorite was the String Beans and Eggplant. This dish was delicious! The Red Oil Pork Won Tons are a bit for me. They have the Sichuan sauce that is tingly and it was a it for me. Overall I would totally come back just with more people. It is funner with a large group.

Wow, what a score in Fremont! Was looking for something random with my daughter and came across this review on Yelp and thought why not? This place has a very cool vibe inside with vibrant signage and fish tanks next to tables that are super relaxing. You order on your phone using the QR code and pay the final bill with your server. They have so many choices of great Chinese "street food" and everything else Chinese wise you would find at Chinese restaurants but more of it. Let me say the Chinese pancakes were TO DIE FOR! Light, flakey, not greasy and multiple layers. The sesame balls were the best I ever had. Light crispy outside, toasted to perfection with a true toasted flavor and the chewy tender inside that makes me want to take a nap after eating them. Like comfort food on steroids. The most interesting item was the street food squid on skewers which were amazing. Don't think soft tender calamari, thing a snappy piece of tentacle you have to chew but it's not rubbery like old squid, it's a refreshing snappy bite with an incredible sauce that has a nice kick but doesn't kick you back from your chair with tears running down your face. Been there and done that plenty in my travels. This place has Chinese BBQ only in the evening but with a menu of this size, you really need to come with 4-8 people (there were only two of us) as they give you portions that easily would allow each person 1-2 pieces of everything and that's where the fun really would explode. This is 5 stars for me but we only tried 4 items and took 1/2 home for left overs. Next time I am bringing my army and hitting the bbq. Definitely check this place out!

I will preface this review, that I think this place could be 5* but is just short of it for me, so it lands at 4.25 stars. I came with my girlfriend to try out these skewers as Fremont has a lack of a good chinese skewers. The style of this restaraunt is pre-cooked skewers, which is generally also my preference. They recently merged with the adjacent restaraunt but it doesn't affect my review. I ordered quite a bit of skewers- at least ~60$ of skewers. For this price, the amount we got was reasonable, it's consistent with other skewer places I've been to. We also ordered 1 appetizer (century egg with pepper) and duck blood spicy soup. The appetizer was a letdown. The chinese translation mentions that it has eggplant, and in fact, the dish is mostly eggplant, but the english menu doesn't say that. We were not a fan of eggplant, so this came as a huge dissapointment to us. I expected the dish to be mostly spicy sauce and century egg, and this was not the case. The owner needs to update this and perform a quality check on the rest of the menu's english translation. I only found this out, because my girlfriend read the chinese menu after we discovered this. The duckblood soup was amazing. I have had many, but this duckblood was very juicy; I can tell the quality is higher, because the iron-y taste isn't present in it. Huge props to them for this! The skewers themselves, quality-wise, were excellent! Their intestine and chicken heart were some of the best that I've had. All their meat was juicy. The chicken bone was crunchy and delicious. However, they didn't have a beef tripe skewer (they only had beef tripe street-food style); this was surprising to me, because every chinese skewer place I've been to has some type of beef tripe skewer. It is a standard and I'm a bit sad to see they left that off the menu. The service is very good. The waiters were all fast, very nice, and packaged our soup for us to go. We didn't have to wait for water/utensils as they were provided. Better service than most skewers places! I think, with an improvement to the selection of meat skewers as well as the fixing of the menu, I could revise this to be 5*. As of right now though, it is still one of the best if not the best skewer place I've had in Fremont.

Server was sweet yet she didn't really know anything about the menu items, and never refilled our drinks. She was cleaning the entire time, so not like she wasn't doing anything but by the end of our very disappointing meal, I was chewing on the ice in my empty drink cup trying to hydrate. Both my husband and I ordered the burnt ends plate. They seem to be a pretty popular item and I notice they upcharge for them on certain plates. These burnt ends were TERRIBLE on both our plates. They were so tough and dry, and were so hard to chew through that I couldn't really eat more than 1/2 of what was on my plate. My cornbread was super dry too, the dollop of butter that was on top didn't do much justice. Greens were the best thing on the plate.. but lacked serious flavor. At least the salt & pepper on the table helped with those. Our tab was around $60 for two plates, an unsweetened iced tea & a sprite (that were never refilled) and it pained me to pay for food to literally be thrown away because it was inedible. Coming from someone who works in the food service industry, that hurt. It's a shame because I remember this place being so good and I wanted to really enjoy my experience again. Maybe the kitchen had an off day and rushed the process on the burnt ends.. I don't know. But they should really test them out before sending them out in the future. I really dislike giving not great reviews... but sometimes we just can't let things like these slide. We all work too hard to be spending our hard earned money on bad food that pretty much ends up going to waste.

When you enter and get seated, you will be prompted to go on the url code at the table to pick your items. While I understand that this is the new way for restaurants to serve guests post-covid, the vast menu items you have to scroll through makes me long for physical menus of the past - but that's just my boomer take for the day. There were a bunch of other items like rice and noodle dishes that looked interesting to pair with the meats, but we were only craving bbq so we skipped out on the carbs. We ordered a BUNCH of skewers, from the standard beef, lamb, pork belly to chicken skin and a fried quail. All of the skewers had the same type of dried chili powder spice seasoning mix so unfortunately there wasn't too much of a diversity in flavor profile but on the flip side, it allowed us to focus more on enjoying the meat quality itself (this is where rice or noodles would definitely help cut through the richness). All of the meats were incredibly well-cooked and charred. It is on the drier side, so be aware if you are looking for a juicier, plumper cut of meat that some other restaurants have. Paired with the Chinese vinegar, soy sauce, and chili oil, they were super delectable. My personal favorites were the pork belly, chicken skin, and beef. We had some leftovers to go and the staff provided us some extra sauce to go so that's a big plus. Great food here and definitely will be back to try more of the other menu items for the full experience.

We didn't have to wait and were immediately sat at the bar. Total was about $60 a person but we ordered ALOT, including 2 sake drinks, 2 shitake mushroom skewers, knee cartilage, short rib, ikura grilled rice ball, 2 chicken hearts, 2 shishito peppers, two tofus, oyster chicken, and probably more. I'm honestly a sucker for tapas-sized items because I love trying a variety of things when I eat, so I think I naturally would rate this place higher. Also not a ton of yakitori places in the East Bay so very little competition. Pros: - Honestly, pretty good meat skewers. My standout favorites were the chicken hearts, the kalbi short ribs, the mushrooms. I liked the crunch of the chicken hearts and the tenderness of the kalbi cubes, and I like that there's some non-meat options like the tofu and peppers to cleanse yourself a little bit. - Really easy ordering system, with paper and pencil. - Great for parties of 1-2, my friend and I were right at the bar and we got to watch the skewers cook and have them handed right to us. I think because we were seated here, I felt like the service was really fast. - Because it wasn't too busy on a Tuesday night, even though it says there's a 90 min seated wait time, we were there well over 2 hours (but also maybe because we kept ordering lol) - Plenty of easy parking spots in this plaza - All the staff were nice - Nice dark Japanese street food bar like ambiance, great for a casual night out Cons: - not great for parties of more than 2, there's a few booths in the restaurant that could fit 4 people maybe but I could see a long wait if it's a busy night. - The chicken items (other than the chicken hearts) were subpar in my opinion (which I guess shouldn't be surprising) so I won't be ordering them again Overall, I would definitely come back, but maybe order 1-2 dishes fewer and avoid the fried rice ball (I loved the ikura on this but felt like I could do without it).

First, I ordered through the restaurant's online system hoping to dodge all of the DoorDash cuts so their people gets all the money. But their system put in a wait time at 30 minutes, which I somewhat already knew it was unrealistic. The restaurant then called me telling me that the wait will be 45 minutes which I said exactly this, "that's fine, I'll wait". When I showed up at the restaurant tried to retrieve my order after 45+ minutes, a waitress said, "oh, I thought you didn't want the order so I never put it in". Then I said, "No, I said I could wait; I even told her that I'd see you there" I kept my cool, but you'd think they'd try to fix what went wrong, but the waitress continue to proceed with, "no you'd still have to wait another 45 minutes". Didn't ask if I could wait or checked how long I've already waited. Again, I totally understand the chaos during a Saturday dinner and try very best to empathize with services. But also, I think the way it was handled is quite unprofessional and tone deaf. I don't think it was necessary for anyone to give me a call, if I ordered through the system, I wish there's a way for the restaurant to notify the wait time through their text/online system, just like their waitlist. If they really don't want people to flake on their orders, maybe take card deposits or text confirmation or something. All in all, I won't be going there anytime soon. Their business is doing well and certainly doesn't need our money.

Refreshing Cold Noodles and a Great Variety of Skewers…read more This was a standout meal that balanced comfort and something a little different. I came in mostly curious about the skewers, but the cold noodles ended up being the surprise highlight. Cold Noodles If you're on the fence about cold noodle soup -- get this. The broth is lightly tangy and deeply refreshing without being overly sweet or vinegary. The noodles had the perfect bite, and the sliced cucumber added crunch and brightness. Topped with two soft-boiled eggs and fresh cilantro, it was simple but extremely satisfying. On a hot day, this hits the spot in a way hot ramen just can't. And even though it's light and chilled, it's still filling. Grilled Skewers There were a lot of unique options and cuts -- lamb, chicken, beef, and more. Each skewer was well seasoned and cooked properly, with a good char but never dry. The flavors leaned slightly smoky with a hint of spice, and the meat was tender. It's a great way to try a few different proteins without committing to a big entrée. Overall Experience There was a bit of a language barrier when ordering, but the staff was friendly and made sure everything came out as expected. The service was fast, and the atmosphere was casual but comfortable. If you're looking for something outside the usual ramen or hot pot spots, this is absolutely worth visiting. Great variety, excellent flavors, and that cold noodle bowl alone makes it worth the trip. Highly recommended

I really wanted to like this place based on previous reviews. However, when you enter the…read morerestaurant and see ABSOLUTELY no other patrons, you get suspicious. We ordered a whole duck to-go. We got home and it was COLD. Like it was sitting in the refrigerator for days and they just repacked it for sale. After warning it up, it was evident that this duck wasn't made fresh. Parts of it were so tough and dry it was equivalent to jerky. If you like your duck DAYS OLD, I repeat.... DAYS OLD and DRY, get it from here. For me, I will never return again.

Sweet Crisp Duck - This is how they dry one of their vegetables. No wonder it tastes so good.
