    Beef Brisket
    Henry H.

Smoking Pig was a spot that I always see when I drive by so today's the day that I decided to give it a try. Coming in, you can see that the restaurant's got some age in it. The front has a little store front which sells items with the Smoking Pig brand in them. I always like seeing little store like these inside restaurants so I was pretty happy to stroll around before getting seated. The restaurant wasn't too busy, I would say it was about 40% filled and we were lead quickly to a booth of our choice. We ordered: Beef Brisket Meal (Fries & Cornbread) - 4 out of 5 I got the half fat and half lean type of meat. The beef was pretty well made. I was a little worried at first from the reviews I read but they turned out fairly tender and I enjoyed them. The fries and cornbread were alright. The combined portion seemed to be on a smaller side so I was a little bummed. 2 Meat Combo (Chicken Leg, Pulled pork, Coleslaw, Cornbread) - 4 out of 5 The pulled pork was a little dry for my liking but the chicken leg was pretty good. Both of these protein were on a lighter side in marination, but thank goodness that they had a few unique sauces for us to dip them in. They compliment the meat pretty good so the sauces saved the day. The coleslaw and cornbread were decent but it's probably something you've had elsewhere. Service - 4 out of 5 Since the restaurant were 40% full and it was quite big, it did take our waiter and waitress a little longer to come at times. They can see that we waited patiently and apologized for coming late. That was a good gesture so we still tipped them decently. All in all, Smoking Pig BBQ is a place I would say that you want to utilize dipping their sauces with your meat in. If you're expecting the meat to just taste wonderful, it'll end up being a little on the lighter side. Not exactly what you would imagine in a BBQ joint. Give the sauces and dip a try! As for my wife and I, we genuinely enjoyed trying 3 of their sauces and used them pretty frequently throughout our meal. Would I come back? Occasionally. If you are looking for a serious BBQ place, it may not hit it just right without the dip so keep that in mind if you plan on visiting Smoking Pig BBQ.

1-Star Review -- Smoking Pig BBQ, Fremont Restaurant: Smoking Pig BBQ Location: 3340 Mowry Avenue, Fremont, CA 94538 Date Visited: Sunday, August 2, 2026 Time: Approximately 3:30-3:45 PM Receipt Time: 3:41 PM Server: Zeydi J. Party Size: 2 Total: $58.39 before tip This was an extremely disappointing visit, and based on the overall experience, management should contact me directly regarding what took place. This was not a minor service issue or one item that missed the mark. The entire experience felt below the standard I remember from Smoking Pig. The service lacked energy, enthusiasm, and personality. The person assisting us appeared to be new, and the interaction felt robotic. I understand that new employees have to learn, but repeatedly relying on "I'm new" is not an acceptable explanation when customers are asking reasonable questions. A restaurant's brand is represented by whoever is standing in front of the customer at that moment, and unfortunately, this interaction left a poor impression. The restaurant was not packed, so there was no obvious reason the service could not have been more attentive, welcoming, and personalized. Then there was the draft beer issue. I am still unclear whether draft beer has been permanently removed or whether the system simply was not working that day. It was approximately 84 degrees outside, and at a barbecue restaurant, a cold draft beer should be one of the easiest parts of the experience to enjoy. The old beer chalkboard was also gone. Maybe it was difficult to maintain, but that was part of the personality and atmosphere I remembered. If the draft system was temporarily down, that should have been clearly explained. If draft beer has been removed altogether, that is another disappointing change. The food was an even bigger letdown. We ordered the two-meat combination with pork spare ribs and Angus beef brisket, along with cornbread, greens, house mac & cheese, burnt ends, and mac & cheese balls. The presentation looked fine, but the flavor simply was not there. The greens were bland. The mac & cheese was bland. The barbecue itself lacked the seasoning and depth I expect from barbecue and Southern-style food. I should not have to rely heavily on barbecue sauce just to give the meat flavor. For this type of food, I expect smoke, seasoning, richness, and personality. Instead, much of the meal tasted flat. The biggest issue for me was the value. My bill was $58.39 before tip, and I absolutely did not feel that the experience was worth what I paid. When I spend nearly $60 for a meal for two, I expect flavorful food, strong service, and an overall experience that makes me feel like my money was well spent. That did not happen here. Between the bland food, robotic service, no draft beer, missing chalkboard, and the overall lack of the Smoking Pig personality I remembered, I left feeling like I had overpaid and, quite frankly, felt ripped off. I also want to know what happened to the rewards program. There was no mention of rewards, points, checking in, or whether the program even still exists. If the program has changed or been discontinued, customers should be informed. If it still exists, staff should be able to explain it. Final Rating: 1/5 This rating is not based on one small mistake. It reflects the entire visit. The food lacked flavor. The service lacked enthusiasm. Draft beer was unavailable with no clear explanation. The chalkboard was gone. The rewards program seemed to have disappeared. And the $58.39 I paid did not come close to feeling like a good value. The restaurant may have looked fine physically, but the overall experience was subpar from beginning to end. I would like someone from management to contact me directly about this experience. A returning customer should not leave feeling this dissatisfied, confused about basic offerings, and questioning whether the restaurant is still delivering the experience associated with its own brand. At this point, my biggest question remains: What happened to Smoking Pig?

I was hesitant to come here due to the 3/5 star reviews but we were in the area after a doctor's appointment and decided to give it a shot since we were in the mood for BBQ. I think because our expectations were low, the actual meal was surprisingly good so we left in high spirits. [[ Reasons why I can see the lower stars ]] 1.) We came in and there was no one there to greet us or someone visible. We almost thought we had to go sit down ourselves but eventually after a couple of minutes an employee showed up and told us to find a seat we liked. 2.) The place feels a bit rundown. Seats are kind of old and the ground was sticky in the area we sat down. [[ The Good ]] 1.) Although service initially started off kind of spotty, the actual employees were extremely friendly and nice. I think during the meal, 3 separate employees came to check up on us to make sure we were enjoying it. The person who sat us down was so nice too and gave my young toddler a full set of crayons and coloring paper so he wouldn't be bored. 2.) The food was surprisingly very good even though it wasn't very busy on a Tuesday. We got a 2-piece meat combo set for the both of us in the following configuration: a.) Pork Spareribs, Angus Beef Brisket, Mac N Cheese, and Cornbread b.) Pulled Pork, Angus Beef Brisket, Potato Salad, and Cornbread HIGHLY Recommend getting the Angus Beef Brisket in the FATTY selection rather than Lean/Mixed. The fatty version of it was perfect and so tender while the lean was a bit dry. The Pulled Pork was very soft and flavorful and would highly recommend this at all. All the sides (Mac N Cheese, Potato Salad, Cornbread) were so good as well with good portion sizes. I would skip the Pork Spareribs as I didn't find it very good. 3.) Restaurant itself is humongous with tons of seating and a lot of places to roam. My toddler was able to walk around after eating and explore without causing too much ruckus which I always appreciate. [[ Conclusion ]] We will definitely be back and hopefully more people come to this establishment as it's always nice to have a BBQ spot here in Fremont.

Great little bbq spot in Fremont. Service was good and food came out very fast. Brisket was cooked well. Not too fatty. Please was clean. Kinda surprised it wasn't too busy for lunch. Would go back and try it again.

Man, it's been a long time since I've been here. Came for lunch on a Thursday, during a pretty slow time. Server was sweet yet she didn't really know anything about the menu items, and never refilled our drinks. She was cleaning the entire time, so not like she wasn't doing anything but by the end of our very disappointing meal, I was chewing on the ice in my empty drink cup trying to hydrate. Both my husband and I ordered the burnt ends plate. They seem to be a pretty popular item and I notice they upcharge for them on certain plates. These burnt ends were TERRIBLE on both our plates. They were so tough and dry, and were so hard to chew through that I couldn't really eat more than 1/2 of what was on my plate. My cornbread was super dry too, the dollop of butter that was on top didn't do much justice. Greens were the best thing on the plate.. but lacked serious flavor. At least the salt & pepper on the table helped with those. Our tab was around $60 for two plates, an unsweetened iced tea & a sprite (that were never refilled) and it pained me to pay for food to literally be thrown away because it was inedible. Coming from someone who works in the food service industry, that hurt. It's a shame because I remember this place being so good and I wanted to really enjoy my experience again. Maybe the kitchen had an off day and rushed the process on the burnt ends.. I don't know. But they should really test them out before sending them out in the future. I really dislike giving not great reviews... but sometimes we just can't let things like these slide. We all work too hard to be spending our hard earned money on bad food that pretty much ends up going to waste.

My friend raves about this place. Now I only tasted the burnt ends thats it. This is my review as someone who doesn't eat them. They were absolutely amazing! So tasteful they literally melt in your mouth. The service was quick and good.

Daughter wanted bbq so we came in. I noticed right away the place was very clean. Not very loud inside and plenty of TV's with games on. I thought the staff were very nice and made us feel welcome. All of our food came out fast and we enjoyed everything. They used to have live music but I asked the manager about it and the city has stopped all that. Bummer because I did come for it one night and had a lot of fun. If you want some bbq defiantly come in. Ribs and pulled pork I really enjoyed but the Mac N Cheese stole the show. Will return.

I don't normally write bad reviews, but this meal and experience were absolutely not worth the price we paid. We arrived around 4:00 PM on a Saturday and were immediately greeted by grass and trash on the floor right as we walked through the entrance. Someone told us to "sit anywhere," which should have been easy since there were only three other tables with guests. There was one staff member behind the bar (with no guests sitting there) and three other staff members just standing around talking to each other by the bar area. Despite the place being nearly empty, it took about five minutes just to get menus, and then over 15 minutes for our order to finally be taken. Honestly, it took so long that we were literally on our phones looking up somewhere else to go eat. It looked like they only had one waitress actually working the tables. When she did serve us, she got our order wrong, and we never once got drink refills. She was very friendly though. As for the food: we ordered the brisket with Mac and cheese and fries. The fries were actually good--hot and crispy. The Mac and cheese was just okay, but it had mysterious chunks of meat in it that weren't mentioned anywhere on the menu, so we had to eat around them not knowing what they were. The brisket arrived hot, but it was incredibly dry, tough, and didn't have much flavor at all. Overall, the whole place just felt completely uncared for. The sauce bottles on the table were so old that the labels were worn off, the floors and tables were sticky, and there was random stuff stacked up in corners. I would not recommend eating here.

Finally got to try Smoking Pig BBQ in Fremont. Large place with a stage for live music. Middle of the afternoon so the place was empty. Only three employees, one of which was the bartender / server. Ordered the premium BBQ combo, chose the pork ribs (2) lean brisket, corn bread, Cole Slaw and added a side of burnt ends. The brisket was excellent tender and moist. Pork ribs were good. The burnt ends were the best. The slaw and corn bread were meh. The food was good $40 before tip. I know this is a BBQ joint but this is how I rate them. The sauces were very similar but the labels were worn and the spouts were crusty. Paper towel rolls are table side. The utensils are prison grade along with the trays. My fork was flatter than my knife.

Spot has plenty of parking available and dog friendly with outdoor sitting. Server as friendly, fast and knowledgeable of menu. Plenty of specials to choose from. Great spot if you're feeling the need for some delicious bbq. The outdoor area could use some TLC. Tables and chairs looked weather worn and no ambiance .

We came here early on Saturday before 12 p.m. The place was very quiet. We sat at the round table. We ordered a half rack of pork spare ribs with rice as a side and fatty brisket with beans as a side. We felt the pork ribs taste okay only, it didn't impress us at all with the smoked flavor. We felt so so. The brisket was good because easy to chew. The staff service just so so. The restaurant is spacious and no need worry about the parking. Also, I think they can clean the table better, because when I wipe, the paper towel is black.

We spent about $60 on 2 people. We got 2 drinks, 2 meat combo and added another side and then got some peach cobbler. I loved the beans, mac & cheese, and cornbread. Wasn't really a fan of the meat. The peach cobbler was good but wasn't the best one I had. We went at 1pm on a Tuesday and there was barely anyone in there. After we ordered got our food immediately. I rate it a 7/10 overall don't think I would come back but it was definitely good if you're looking for that typa of food.

    Burnt edges with sides.

Hi Sylvia, no, we don't have live music right now. Still not quite safe yet. Thanks for asking.

I don't believe it does. Although the menu doesn't say it does, If it did I'm sure it would say. To be 100% sure I would definitely double check.

He had no idea that I had this saved so we ended up giving it a try. Dude. So good. The house special fried rice is crack albeit a little pricey ($13.99 compared to regular white rice at $2.49/bowl) but they pack it with a lot of different ingredients. It's perfect with some veggies like the chive skewers. We also loved the classic beef and lamb (minimum order of two) and lamb belly (comes in two skewers). The cut on the lamb belly is smaller than the classic lamb. The Taiwanese sausage, bbq pork with garlic, and tofu wraps (comes in ten skewers) were also delicious. Only skippable thing was the a-choy. The flavors weren't too spicy and they have a lot of drink options. Service was relatively quick but sometimes confusing in the order that it comes out. We ordered everything at the same time but the chives came out first and the a-choy came out last? Plenty of parking in the plaza; friendly (enough) service. It's a plus if you know Mandarin lol. Refreshing Cold Noodles and a Great Variety of Skewers…read more This was a standout meal that balanced comfort and something a little different. I came in mostly curious about the skewers, but the cold noodles ended up being the surprise highlight. Cold Noodles If you're on the fence about cold noodle soup -- get this. The broth is lightly tangy and deeply refreshing without being overly sweet or vinegary. The noodles had the perfect bite, and the sliced cucumber added crunch and brightness. Topped with two soft-boiled eggs and fresh cilantro, it was simple but extremely satisfying. On a hot day, this hits the spot in a way hot ramen just can't. And even though it's light and chilled, it's still filling. Grilled Skewers There were a lot of unique options and cuts -- lamb, chicken, beef, and more. Each skewer was well seasoned and cooked properly, with a good char but never dry. The flavors leaned slightly smoky with a hint of spice, and the meat was tender. It's a great way to try a few different proteins without committing to a big entrée. Overall Experience There was a bit of a language barrier when ordering, but the staff was friendly and made sure everything came out as expected. The service was fast, and the atmosphere was casual but comfortable. If you're looking for something outside the usual ramen or hot pot spots, this is absolutely worth visiting. Great variety, excellent flavors, and that cold noodle bowl alone makes it worth the trip. Highly recommended
