A great place for skewers and a beer! The neon decor is totally a vibe and cute photo ops. I absolutely love their intestine skewers, they're crispy on the outside and chewy inside with delicious seasoning! I like that it's not too salty like other skewer spots that make me SOO thirsty lol. Usually they're not too busy so I never had to wait. We came here Friday around 7:30pm. It was busy but we were able to get a table right away. Looks like it's same owner as the karaoke place next door and special noodle. Food was really good. But wished the gizzard would be crunchy instead of soft. It wasn't crunchy like other places. The entrance and interior of this place looks wild! There are neon lights everywhere, disco lights, and fishtanks with live fish acting as dividers between some tables. Locating the way into the restaurant is slightly confusing because of the signs outside showing multiple names for one big space, but for anyone checking it out it's through the door to the left. I've only ever seen one other restaurant that rivaled in the eccentric setup. We picked a table and ordered the following with QR code: Lamb Skewers Spicy Duck Blood Sichuan Grilled Whole Fish Lamb Skewers - these were great and met all my expectations. Juicy, tender, and lots of flavor. A great start to the meal! Duck Blood - Duck blood can be a double-edged sword for me. It can be either a delicious flavor sponge or it can be a nasty stinky mess. This duck blood had no funky taste, soaked the flavor well, and even had a bunch of vermicelli underneath. Sichuan Grilled Whole Fish - Oh man I made a mistake ordering this for 2 people. When looking at the photos I thought I was dealing with maybe a black cod or something similar but it turns out it was catfish, and a massive one at that. There were also a massive amount of toppings, some of them amazing such as mushrooms and rice cake, others a bit of a strange choice. (French fries..?) I love catfish a lot however in the world of grilled whole fish catfish often has the thickest meat and is the most filling grilled/steamed fish to consume. My mom and I stood no chance against it. Overall food is very good! Personally didn't find any of the dishes to be especially outstanding but the food and experience was very much enjoyable. If you want to try the grilled whole fish, don't do what I did and bring friends! read more

If you want hidden service fee charges while barely getting any service come here! No interaction, all online and the just bring out the food. Was charged a $26 service fee for that itself, might as well go to the kitchen and get the food myself! The grill that they put the skewers on doesn't even get hot. Literally touched it with my full palm and it was just warm. Food is tasty though, but too seasoned for my liking (literally felt my sodium levels go up with every bite). Decided to check this place out for a snack as I just had dinner. This used to be a Hunan Cuisine restaurant that my family enjoyed. It got rid of the dividers in the restaurant so it's quite spacious. Floor tiles a bit slippery with the chair. The interior is fill with lights. You order thru your phone via scanning a QR code. We didn't order much since we already had dinner, but we did get the basic beef, fish cake, chives, sausage (my fav), lamb, chicken feet, and some cold shrimp thing. We really liked the fish cake and sausage. Chive only come in big order and they cut it in half, accidentally ate half first so left with all the leaf side and was chewy so we didn't finish. Shrimp is not overcooked and taste good with sauce. Portion not that big if you got more people and is hungry. I didn't really like their beef. Usually, people like to put flour in beef so it's more tender but I could taste that in the beef skewer which I didn't enjoy. Expected chicken feet to be like soft, but it was kind of dry on some parts and was spicy. Here I would like to mention their selection for skewer isn't much. But they do have actual dishes like noodles and even 毛血旺, they have the cool asian drinks here also but again, not as much variety as some other places. Will be trying the mai la dish next time. They're also running a promotion where if you write a yelp review with pictures, you can either get free shrimp (pictured $7.99) or get the spicy noodle for half the price. From the food to the service to the decor, everything here was close to my definition of a perfect restaurant. My party of two mainly came here to try their spicy grilled fish. It was massive! and stuffed with flavor-soaked ingredients like potato, wood ear mushroom, celery, rice cake, and tofu skin. The star of the show of course was the fish itself, which was tender, meaty, and soaked up the spicy sauce. This dish could feed 3 people, maybe even 4, given some rice to accompany it. All other dishes ordered (rice noodles, fried shrimp, cabbage dish) were very flavorful. Arguably one of the best cabbage dishes I've tried, and the shrimp is similar to honey walnut shrimp. The rice noodles are only $6.50 if you post a picture/review on yelp and show the staff! Good value + good flavor + filled with goodies like fish cake, hot dog, and spinach. My only complaint in regards to the food is that it's priced a bit high but an occasional splurge wouldn't hurt. Service: Excellent and I can not stress that enough. The lady was extremely accommodating, offering assistance consistently and overall just very friendly. 100% would come back here and I highly recommend visiting if you love spicy and/or flavorful food! read more

Located in a plaza tucked away on the west side of the Fremont-Newark border, Always Cool BBQ is the place to be when you're craving some well-grilled meat! Don't be fooled by their name, because every dish comes out piping hot. That being said, the cool factor is definitely thanks to the entire place being drenched in neon and boasting an entire karaoke function in the back. Noodle dishes were light and delectable, in contrast to the vast majority of the spicy skewers. Only the pork belly skewers were tough on the bite, since they came on metal rods that might scrape against your teeth when gnawing the meat off. Other than that, cracking open a cold Wang Lao Ji should help wash down the sins you've committed against your tummmy. Their skewer game is better than most I've been to, but slightly more exp as well. Service: They're quick and attentive; leave water at your table. Atmosphere: I think they could do better! It is a little too bright in there, there might be no way around it with all the fun neon signs, I'd at least kill the house lights (save electricity and get the mood better). We were a bit confused when we arrived because the restaurant had a sign that read Special Noodles and another sign that read KTV but it was like all the same restaurant. Once we figured out what door to go in through we were quickly seated in a booth with a cool fish tank at almost every booth and scanned the QR code to view the menu. A waitress came by to take our order and we ordered a few skewers, some Chinese beer that we've never had before and we're excited to try. We also ordered beef chow fun and beef rolled in onion pancake. All the food was delicious. We took the leftovers home because the beef chow fun came with a really good portion. First time at this location with some childhood friends to catch up and have dinner! I gotta say, this place looks amazing. I love the way the place is decorated and I like the booths. Right when you come in, you are greeted by the nicest staff in this restaurant. Once they seat you, they'll let you know that there is a code for you to use your phone to check out the menu. My friends and I took a while picking out what we should get cause a lot of the food looked pretty tasty and we wanted to make sure it would fill us up. Oh boy, did the food we chose fill us up! We still had leftovers to take home. I really recommend getting a couple of skewers, like the beef and grilled squid. We also ordered a soup and it was very flavorful and I loved how much different meats and veggies were in it. It really balances out well. I didn't get the chance to take pictures of the food. Was too busy enjoying the food and catching up with really good friends. It's a good place to enjoy with your friends and family. I would definitely recommend you coming with friends and having a good time! It's right next to karaoke, my friends and I are definitely going to try out karaoke and skewers another time!
