I went in today due to having horrible shoulder and back pain. I love getting massages at a specific place in fremont but I live here in Dublin area and drive by Amador Spa all the time so I decided to try it out for a change. The front desk lady seemed nice and so was my masseuse but.. To be honest, in my opinion it wasn't what all the reviews say for me. I've definitely had better massages. I asked for the pressure to be harder and it was mistaken by faster. The first half she used no lotion so it was kind of just fast and rough skin to skin contact on my neck especially. She used the sheet for the first half as well and I was just getting lightly poked by her elbow on some knots in my back which was more painful than helpful. I personally need those deeper massages because I workout and get knots in my back easily and it keeps me up at night. When she put the hot stones she did use lotion and it got better- except the first set of stones were cold and I kept wondering if she was wearing a ring or something because it felt like cold metal on one part of the stone! The next set of stones were warm and the last were hot so gradually, it got better. I really wanted to enjoy this spot since it's close by my house but I'm leaving feeling stiff. I mean it's a $60 massage so I wasn't expecting it to be perfect. For some people it may be worth it but I have gotten better massages for the same price! read more

Called and made an appointment, foot massage 90 mins. Before the call ended I asked what the total would be. She said $120, $60 each person. I came and got my massage. My husband said he was being massaged with the woman wearing a ring and scraping it across his foot. My massage was painful most of the time. It wasn't horrible but it was painful. After the massage she charged me $180, I told her she told me $120 on the phone. She told me she just told me $120 because that's for 60mins. I don't know what her point was because I didn't ask her the price for a 60 min massage I asked her the price of my 90 min massage, so I only came because I thought the massage was $120. After this she was really rude to me and dismissed me after I paid. No thank you or anything, she was clearly mad. Even if they charged me what they told me over the phone I still wouldn't come back because the massage was painful. I'm not sure how they won an award last year. read more

I just don't think management should stare at you expecting an excessive tip for a service nor make any comments or suggestions related to tipping. It is plain rude and although my massage was good and my tip was generous, I left feeling like I never want to return here ever. It's just bad behavior. I have been a client here for past 5+ years. A week ago I left my Diamond Ring in one of the bins at San Ramon location during a massage session with G.( who is female wondeful massager)don't remember her full name)so called them next day as soon as I realized I am missing my ring. They reassured me and were able to find and return it that day.KUDOS!This business is run with integrity. Made an appointment for 2 people and drove 30 minutes to be there on time and then there's nobody to open the front door and it's locked! Waited and Knocked for about 5-7 but no answer. Then waited another 10 minutes outside. Sign outside says OPEN. Tried calling and nobody answers either. I get weekly massages and like to try new places. Jenny just gave me one of the best massages I've had, ever!!! I've had a few other massages here and they all do a good job. I love the hot stones they do as part of the service. That's not a normal and a nice touch. They do a great job of working knots, being gentle or giving it to you hard if that is what you prefer. Their technique is sound, love the facial part, that's always one of my favorites!!! I got to talk to John, the owner and he cares about your experience. Not use to an owner of a therapeutic massage business going out of his way to ensure you are satisfied. Overall, I highly recommend giving this place a try. We were looking around somewhere close to where we live and thanks to yelp we found this place. I called and made an appointment for later that day. We arrived 30mins early for our appointment. As soon as we came in the receptionist greeted us right away and told us the masseuse is already available. The place is nice and looks cozzy. They led us to the room for couples massage. We removed our clothes and lay down on the table. The blanket feels so good because its heated. The ladies came in right away and did their thing. The whole massage was pleasant and very relaxing. The amount of pressure is just right, they way we want it. At the end of the whole session we are so relax and just ready to pass out. I booked last minute neck and shoulder massage with Sophia and she's awesome!! I came in just for a 30 minute for my neck and shoulders and a terrible headache due to stress and tension and I left without a headache! Feeling so relaxed next day and much less tension and knots in my neck. Grateful I found them and will be able to make this a regular visit because they are affordable. Literally so amazing. I've been to plenty of spas before but this one tops all of them. Lisa took care of me so well and took her time massaging my muscle knots which I needed super badly. I have a few issues with this place. First issue: I left the the spa with two big bruises on my back shoulder blades. I asked for medium pressure at first but then asked for less because it was hurting so much. I wish I had taken a picture of my back because it was bruised for 4 days. 2nd issue: our masseuses asked my girlfriend if she spoke Chinese and she said no. However, I did speak Chinese and I didn't say anything. Then one masseuse began to say in Chinese, "what time are we starting at?" And the second masseuse said "oh let's say we started at the 3:05". However, they didn't even come into the room until 3:10. So by the time they asked each other what time they started, it had to be at least 3:15. Bottom line is, know what time you start your massage or they will try to cut it short by ten minutes. 3rd issue: if you are getting the hot stone massage, prepare to be burned. My masseuse left the hot rocks on my back for too long when she took it right out of the oven. It felt like someone lit a match right next to my skin. 4th issue: we tipped an adequate amount for the quality of our experience and service. However they were not satisfied and suggested us to use their recommended tipping rate. read more

Gratitude tips should not be mandatory and this place expects you to leave 20% tip. The Asian guy at the counter literally ask you for the tip. Its awful. I don't mind leaving a tip but just don't ask for it. If you want 20% then add it to your fees or make it know prior to the services. Find another place. read more

My last massage was 20 years ago so I didn't have much expectations. A friend recommended this place so I called for an appointment and was able to get one the same day. The place was small but feels clean. I went for the Therapeutic massage for 60 min / $60. The lady Mary was friendly and her hands applied a lot of pressure around my neck and shoulders but it felt good in a painful way. Overall, the massage was good and I felt a much better range of motion around my neck and less tension. The reason for the 4 star is because of the price. Other friends suggested good places for $45/hour which I'll try later and share my review. read more

I've been going here for years. Normally I get a 1 hour massage and it's about a 3.5 to 4 star massage. Not the best but pretty good for the price. They are convenient to my house and pretty much always available when I call. I went in yesterday for a 30 minute massage for my neck and shoulders. I explained to the guy on the phone and at the front desk (same guy) that it was just my neck and shoulders that hurt and he said yes yes that's fine we can just massage those areas. I told the woman when she came in I was in some pain and I just wanted those areas. The woman did massage my neck and shoulders some but then she would go to my arms and then lower back. Then she wanted to massage my legs and then she wanted to put hot stones and I kept telling her just my neck and shoulders. Finally I hear the man at the front talking to her through the door in another language and she abruptly stops the massage and says you are done. I come out and talk to the man at the front that this is not what I booked and why would she not just massage the neck and shoulders? He explained that he and her speak a different language and she doesn't always understand him or the clients and she thought it was a 2 hour hot stone massage. With a shrug of his shoulders that was that. No offer to refund my money. No offer for more time to actually do what she was supposed to do. They are inexpensive but not worth it. Been coming here for several years now. I play golf and get my lower back taken care of here with their 90 min deep tissue. Most ladies here are great, I've had most of them meet my needs. No one is perfect and I've had a couple of masseuses that were 3 star, at least for my needs. But there are a few masseuses' so just give someone else a try before settling in with one. By far Lisa is my favorite. Works and focuses on my lower back after 18 holes at the course. Hits all the right spots with the proper tension in the small of my back. read more

I've had a tense neck and shoulder blades for a while now so I went in for a massage today at Amador spa for the first time. Sophia was my masseuse and I thought the massage went well. I asked for medium pressure and she was surprised with how many knots I had. I felt pain/uncomfortable during a few moments and I let her know. It's been a few hours since my massage and my back is really sore so I went to look at my back and noticed bruising on my shoulder blades. I understand that I had many knots but as a masseuse she should have know when it was enough in that particular area. I've had many massages before and never have I bruised like this. Didn't like it. I have been to different massage parlors but decided to try this one based on reviews as my regular one was on leave and I had stiffness all around. What a waste of time and money. Took appointment from Sophia and she seemed to be in a rush. When I said it's too hard she just said " No pain, no gain" and kept on doing as she wanted to. She didn't even focus on the pain point which I explained earlier to have massage. She massaged my head so hard that entire day it kept hurting me. Long overdue. I have been getting awesome massages from here for over 8 years from pretty much every masseuse that works here. I have had maybe 2 massages out 30 that were meh. That, I think is an incredible record. Very professional and there seems to be a method that is common. Lisa and Sophia have some Strong Hands and with my degenerative disc disease in my neck, they have an amazing ability to hone in on the pain and make it go away for awhile.
