We came with a pescatarian and honestly while the offerings for snacks were a bit slim, every option was really good. I feel like this was the first time where I understood the price even the the quantity is no where close to be desired. One shrimp is like $6 and I was like whoah. Service is definitely more laid back and it's overall just like a more chill atmosphere. Once we got sat down, we got our menus and took some time to decide what to order. Our amazing friend and waitress Elizabeth made sure to give us time to thoroughly look through the menu and decide on what we were going to eat. We ordered the Mixto Clásico ceviche, 2 orders of truffle mac and cheese, Arroz Con Mariscos, Pollo A La Brasa (Half chicken), Beef Anticuchero Roll, and Lengua a La Parilla. In five minutes, the staff already brought the ceviche, which included calamari, fish, veggies, and the taro chips. It was refreshing and citrusy. After we finished that , then another 3 minutes goes by, and everything arrived. I was so shocked on how fast they serve especially because of how busy they were. All the dishes were so fresh and cooked to perfection. The mac was so creamy, cheesy, and delectable especially because of the truffles. The pollo a la brasa was cooked nice and tender, served with fries, and that yellow sauce was addicting, literally ON CRACK. My sister and BIL were in town again in mid-July so I made a reservation on OpenTable (easy with one week in advance). We were seated at one of the booths and service was... a little odd. We never got a "Welcome to Valley Goat, have you been here before?" or any explanation about the menu. We sort of knew what to order because of my BIL but it was notably weird. Service that day was impersonal and the main reason why I've downgraded one star. BIL said that he had better service with the bachelor party in March - the server back then had thoroughly explained the menu and was great about everything until things got a bit busier later and they had to wait a long time for the check. However, despite the weird service, the food was so good that I brought some of my local friends the following weekend - and this time, we did not make a reservation and decided to walk in and sit at the bar. Big shout out to Jonathan, Roy, Erica and Nick who took good care of us at the bar! At one point in our meal, they noticed we were waiting for our last two dishes for a while and I overheard them talking about going to check on those plates, and sure enough they appeared shortly after. That limey huacatay sauce appears on several menu items and stands out each time - can't go wrong with it! Less impressive: sautéed green beans ($20) were not worth the money and were too salty, and the kalbi ($45) was fine and didn't stand out like the other dishes. Sort of a run-of-the-mill kalbi. Drinks: drinks were definitely on the pricier side but all very tasty! I was actually most impressed by one of their mocktails - the Temple Fizz ($16). Mocktails are weird in that some bars will increase the price to an unreasonable amount, but I think it's genuinely deserved here. The Temple Fizz had complex notes that had me sipping like I would any other cocktail, rather than guzzling it down like a soda. Jonathan mentioned that their mocktails are super popular as well, and I think that speaks strongly to their mocktail selection. Overall, I would keep coming back and sitting at the bar. Food and drinks are fantastic!
