Yesterday, we went to the American Girl Store for my daughter's birthday present. I had a choice of 4 sushi places close by that we would check out after. Long story short, all of the places were closed until 5:00pm and we left American Girl at 3:30ish. Two hungry kids aren't trying to wait that long. Walking around, we came across Amaze. I love fusion cuisine and I figure this would be adequate. Plus, my crew would get their sushi fix. On the weekends, Amaze runs a special called Extended Brunch. For $15 a person, you get a choice of a bottled beer or a glass of wine; miso soup or salad; one of 5 appetizers; and one of 10 entree choices (Chinese, Thai or sushi). This is available from noon until 5pm. I had a bottle of Sapporo, miso soup, pork Gyoza (very juicy with a super crispy skin), and two sushi rolls (crunchy spicy tuna & rock shrimp). My wife had the Crispy Beef entree and the kids had sushi like me. I tasted her Crispy Beef (DAMNNN) and it was so damn good, I had to say DAMN twice. Everything I had was delicious. This is the spot to go for lunch in mid-town. I have been coming to this place since it opened. They have a great selection of lunch for a fair price! From the lunch specials The Pad Thai is really good! My friend always orders the General TSO Chicken and loves it! I never tried the sushi here but I will give it a try next time I go! Then delivery took 90 minutes because the delivery dropped it at the wrong place (an honest mistake, OK) but he picked it up and then brought it from them to me. A MAJOR HEALTH CODE VIOLATION. It was cold, they did a terrible job working with my food allergies and just took everything out leaving it disgusting and they forgot to make the calamari salad without cilantro, but even if they'd remembered, it was mostly daikon and red onion anyway. I get it, we all have bad days, but it doesn't mean you have to be rude to your customers. I like the place, but sometimes it is hard to find a seat. The tables are very close to each other, so it is hard to get any privacy. Feels like you are having a lunch/dinner at a huge table with strangers. The service continues to spiral into the territory of rude. Yesterday's lunch experience was beyond and I'm questioning whether I will ever return. My friend and I were here on a Friday night and while you can't beat the happy hour prices and the wide selection of entrees and sushi, the noise level and waitress attention is quite poor. It was sooo loud that we could barely talk and the waitress didn't come to us or offer us water for the first 20 minutes that we were there. I read the reviews on the nasty attitude and greedy practices of the staff at this establishment. However, since I work in the area I decided to give the place a try. Not once but a few times. The first time I went the service was good but the waitress thought my friend wouldnt tip her so she decided not to return the $10 change. Last week I decided to take a friend there for dinner again. We got a small table for two in the corner of the restaurant. The food was good, but the service wasnt not up to par. We enjoyed the waterdown drinks and didnt complain because for $4 why should I complain. Then came the Bill $81.10 and I notice the waitress added a 20% service charge and an additional drink. I spoke to her about it and she said that was their new policy to charge grats automatically. she didnt remove the additional drink she charged to my bill. I paid the bill and automatic charge but thought about it as I drove home. I called the restaurant the following day and was told that no one was available to speak to me...i left my number but no one returned my call. I just want everyone to know that these people are thieves. It is illegal to charge a party of two automatic gratuity. If they can be so greedy for money I cannot imagine what they are serving their customers as food and drinks. Please watch your bills..THESE PEOPLE ARE NOT HONEST. I will never go back there and I will make sure my colleagues and clients never go to this dishonest establishment again. He delivered it to my work, called me twice in which i answered right away and yelled at me on the phone and he maybe waited at the most four minutes for me to travel 30 plus flights down elevator. First time coming in on Black Friday, so it's not busy at all. Employees are incredibly rude, a male employee scowls at me when I ask if I can order and points me to the hostess. After I order during this awkward interaction she tells me it's "very very busy" and that I'll have to wait for my order. Not sure how it's busy when there's nobody here and nobody calling. Though while I was waiting people did start coming in and I did notice an apparent difference in treatment between white customers and minorities. I called again after an hour, she said 5 minutes and took an extra 30. The delivery guy was extremely rude, didn't say a word when I thanked him, just glared at me. I ordered brown rice (which I paid a dollar extra for) and got all white rice. Soup was lukewarm. Overall pretty terrible service. I felt like I was at a college bar of some overly obnoxiously loud customers screaming and laughing at an outrageous decibel. The booth seats are falling apart which was a turn off and gave the wrong impression that 1- this place was really dirty since it's looks "forgotten" in terms of maintenance and such or 2- was shutting down its operations. I asked if they were closing and surely they are not. Maybe they should invest time in controlling their customers and re upholstering their booths. It was gross to look at. Also an extremely interesting choice of music for a restaurant of any kind! I couldn't believe my ears. Straight up rap and hip & hop. As I received my sushi I was forced to listen to Eminem's "KIM" where he talks about suicide. How depressing and demeaning. I don't want to hear this as I try to enjoy my meal. Change your music options!!!! It was no surprise by the end of the meal why there were barely any customers sitting and eating. At night after 9pm this place becomes a raunchy lounge for teens! they do not I.D. and have a bunch of extra young girls dressed up as adults acting the fool.There was paraphernalia and all kinds of wrong doings going on.
