I'm gonna keep this short, simple and sweet. This is the best burger I've had since I moved to Los Angeles in 2017. Hands down. I've had some good ones at various places. But this burger from Amboy has been on my mind since I had it over a week ago. The Fancy Classic is the one that changed my brain chemistry. A toasted sesame bun, smashed patty, provolone cheese, caramelized onions, pickles and garlic aioli. And that description still doesn't do it an ounce of justice. You just have to go try yourself. (There are also other options such as hot dogs, grilled cheese and tuna melts if ground beef isn't your jam for some reason.) I'm already plotting about when I can go back specifically for this burger. I even marched back into Haven City specifically to tell the manager how much I loved it. And I never do that sort of thing. He suggested next time I try the Truffle burger. Say less. I'm down. read more

Their double smash burger is what you'll think about as you angrily bite into your double double in the driver's seat of your car simply because you didn't have enough time to sit and savor quality meat. This was exactly what I was looking for. I was craving a large burger. Not your typical fast food burger but a larger restaurant sized burger. I got it here and it was delicious. Their meat was so good. It's a juicy burger so keep the paper on it when they serve you. I got the Amboy with extra bacon. It came with fries and a drink. I got an extra drink just because I was really thirsty. The fries were delicious too. Kind of reminded me of the old-school version of Micky-Dees fries. But as something casual on the day to day basis, the burger and fries weren't anything over the top special. In-N-Out is still king. I don't know, I felt this place is somewhat on-par with Habit Burger. Guy up in the cashier register spent a good time explaining how it works, the different cuts of meat, and the various sauces; I initially wanted the truffle sauce, but they were out, a real bummer. I would always walk by this place whenever going to haven city and finally decided to try it. I knew it would be good but it was even better than I expected it to be. I tried the amboy and fancy burgers, both with the classic double stacked patties. Both were similar but the amboy has their amboy sauce and American cheese while the fancy has a garlic mayo confit and provolone. The classic double stacked patty had nice crispy edges because it's supposed to be on the thinner side and was super flavorful. I also really liked the pickle slices because they were a little thicker and added a nice depth of flavor. I really enjoyed how they use sesame buns because I don't see a lot of burger places do that. It added an extra crispiness and texture to the burger. The fries were super crispy on the outside and stayed like that the entire meal, I was surprised by how good they were. Slim thic with some pastrami. Relieved it wasn't a brick of salt overpowered by cheese. I got the provolone instead of American. Shaved pastrami was nice and tender but made the burger pretty juicy and hard to handle on top of the shredded lettuce. I will ask them not to cut the burger in 1/2 & hold lettuce next visit. I was happy to see that Amboy was finally open at Haven City. I didn't know what I was gonna eat that night because I just go with the flow when it comes to Haven City. I walked around a few times and ended up at Amboy because of the vibes. They had open seats and the Dodger game was on so why not. They only had a few items on their soft opening menu so I opted for their classic double cheese burger while my sister got the fancy one with the garlic. Man, you know it's a good burger when you read for the napkins after the first bite. Juicy, saucy, flavorful-y and most of all, yummy. It hit the spot just right. It's not heavy, but it's also not light. Just enough to send me home happy. The fries was also on point to. This aint your average french fry you get. There's something different from the others.
