The Raceway Cinema is one of the only AMC theaters around here without expensive recliner seating. Hey sometimes I just want to sit upright in a cheap seat and see a movie with a nice big tub of buttered popcorn, and Raceway fits the bill. Also this theater runs indie movies that most big theaters don't, saving me the trip to dreaded old lady Malverne! Plenty of parking. Restrooms could be cleaner but I'm still a fan. read more

This place is disgusting. The seats are all stained and the floors are sticky. I feel bad for the staff that have to work in this condition. The food is excessively overpriced. I never want to come to this theater again. I feel like I need a shower. This company should be ashamed that they charge for a movie here. I thought with the mostly empty parking lot the theater just reopened but upon walking in a staff member told me they had been open for weeks. We walked in and I had an electronic ticket that was scanned and was given a printed ticket. Easy and fast. Then we walked over to the concession stand and time stood still. There was a long line, and 2 extremely slow young men behind the counter. We waited about 10-15 minutes. This theatre really needs to be updated. The cup holders were wobbly and half broken, old squeaky seats. I'm sticking to the Levitown location till this place changes. read more

I came here with my boyfriend to see almost christmas and this movie theatre is nice because it has a big parking lot and a lot of staff which makes the lines move. The movie theatre is a nice of a renovation. Roosevelt field had one so why not this one ? However, prices were decent and staff was nice. Bathroom was big. Also some man was in the women's bathroom which concerned me. Thank God he ran out when he saw it was a women's bathroom but i think he was drunk. Maybe they need better security. They offered reserved seating so I foolishly thought we would have recliners. The bathroom and lobby area were not cleaned recently. The carpet leading to the theater was not vacuumed. The smell in the theater itself was like musty old motel. Highly disappointing since it cost the same as the cleaner theaters that feature recliners. What a mistake. Won't be returning. read more

My rating may be higher than normal based on other lousy yelp reviews. I expected the worst so it was much better than anticipated. There is a huge parking lot and it's easy to get in and out of. The lobby was clean. I had free tickets for Juliet Naked movie so I don't know what the prices were. They do advertise independent movie showings which looked interesting. Now the actual theater is another story, the seats are old and stained and the floor can be sticky, it just reminded me of the old theaters in the 80's before the AMC/Loews type theaters replaced them. One other thing, the A/C was blasting, it must have been 60 degrees in there. It's summer time but I don't want to bring a coat to the theater plus think of all the money they could save by setting the A/C at a normal temperature. Screen and sound was very good. Bathrooms appeared clean but I don't like to linger and I'm not a health inspector so maybe the other reviews are more accurate. Overall I would go back, especially if the tickets are free or discounted but they are due for an upgrade in seating if they want to compete with other theaters. Funny thing about the name, I doubt too many people realize that the Roosevelt horse racing track used to be there. The movie theater and box stores replace the track. I guess they threw in Raceway in the name to differentiate this theater from others. I do miss Roosevelt raceway. read more

Dirty disgusting seats they had the lights on bright you can see how dated the seats are and all the dirt that showed no on them. Garbage in hallways piled up high bathrooms dirty and disquieting . The staff is friendly and polite, they have enough screens and it's never packed that's why I visit often, although, they never have food other than nachos and pop corn, soda machines are often broken and there are no recliner seats that's why only 3 stars, it's always a nice place to watch a movie but eat before coming unless you only want pop corn read more

This theater is the definition of good from a far but far from good. It's so decrepit and run-down that the only changes are like lipstick on a pig. This theater boast reserved seating in order to trick people into thinking it's a more luxury experience when it's below average at best. Let me start off by saying I find that all Loews Theaters are extremely similar if not exactly the same lay out. The two doors on both ends, the maze ticket line, the concession snack behind (or in front depending on the side you enter on). This is probably irrelevant but I must say when I walked in to this one and had a flashback to when I went to a Loews theater in another state I as excited. So perhaps the layout is a plus for them. Anyways, not the cleanliest or the messiest of lobbies. The workers are friendly and you can avoid the HUGE line by going to the electronic ticket purchase thingy. There are two but one was out of order..still the line here was faster than the regular ticket line. They have a few arcade games and a motorcycle game that I noticed some kid thoroughly enjoying while I waited to purchase my tix. Which is a good thing. If you end up with a longer wait than anticipated playing a few games is a great way to past the time. Didn't notice any out of order signs and they all seemed to be working pretty well. Decently sized theater and they are kept fairly clean. (Am I the only person that picks up their garbage and throws it out after the movie??/ I may be). I would like bigger softer seats and removable armrests but that's only because I need to lay down while watching a flick. At any rate, this place is decent enough and gets the job done. This is one of the older theatres as it lacks stadium style seating as I would come here often my past life of adult times with my former love of his native Long Island. Sadly, this is a hugely popular movie theater with slanted seats does not cut it in the industry for survival any more. Thus, the three stars rating. We got confused looking up theaters on Fandango because this was listed as also Roosevelt, so we first went to the theater the roosevelt field mall. When we got to the box office we were told that our movie wasn't showing here and we had a few minutes to get over to this theater. So there's my first little nitpick. This theater has just a series of little things that bug me. First, the lobby was a mess. The floor was covered in popcorn, sticky, and just looked filthy. I understand since it was rainy that it can be a bit more difficult to maintain a clean floor with dirty shoes trotting upon, but perhaps putting out an extra carpet at the entrances to encourage people to wipe. The lobby, despite being huge, is also very cluttered. The theater seems to try and put as many obstacles in the way so traversing the dirty floor is like finding your way through a maze. There are cardboard cutouts everywhere, and other random tables and counters that are unused and cause detours. Inside the theater itself was clean and the picture shows up nicely on the screens. The bathroom was also big enough where there was no line after the show we saw. I think the problems this theater has are definitely fixable, and hopefully if I have to return, such as the snafu with the roosevelt field theater, that I do see improvement. read more

I've been coming here since I was a kid. I don't mind the 20 min ride to Westbury Long Island. The matinee price here is worth the drive for $6.95 before 1p.m. I love the quick kiosks and customer service. The concession stand lines move fast and the bathrooms are clean. The theatre definitely needs a renovation but that will probably increase the ticket prices. The seats are very uncomfortable without cushion, soiled with stains, and close to other patrons. For $6.95 you don't get cushioned, leather reclining stadium seating but you beat crowds and save a buck. I really hope management is working on renovating. read more

My first choice of movie theatres in the area. I take in a movie almost every Sunday at 1000. There are no lines at that hour. Heck, there are no patrons at that hour and you can have the whole theatre to yourself! Parking is a breeze, bathrooms are clean, prices are average. I feel safe here so it's all good. read more

This is the first time we have been totally disappointed in this theatre. We took our grandsons the choices of snacks left a lot to be desired . The theater is in major need of renovations, It's like the owner doesn't care and is getting what money they can without investing anything further into it. The parking is covered in glass. The concession stand is dirty and the lights are off. Not sure if they're not working or if they're trying to hide something.. Inside the movie theater, the seats are old, hard and dirty. What bother me the most is in theater 1 some of the speakers are blown as you can hear them popping, it was very distracting trying to watch Black Adam. Beware: MICE! As other reviewers have already stated, this theater is infested. I was in theater 4 when I thought I saw something moving between rows. Upon turning on my phone's flashlight, I saw clearly with my own two eyes another mouse running in the same direction. It was, to say the least, horrifying! I generally only go to this theater for its large selection of independent and foreign films. I ran out of the theater screaming and one of the employees at the concession stand told me to meet her by guest services (I guess she did not appreciate my yelling of "there's mice in the theater!" at the top of my lungs purposely so that others could hear). I was then offered two re-admit passes and a free popcorn. I decided to take them, but definitely not using those passes back here! read more

I like this theatre. It's a little smaller than some other AMC locations, however, they have two wings with theatres in each. I think the only downfall is that they have two places to buy tickets but only one is ever open. They do have an account with Fandango, though! Buy your tickets in advance! Concession is typical and overpriced. The bathrooms are cramped. But the theatres, while they do not have stadium-style seating, are great and they are great at crowd control when it comes to a new movie release. read more

Watched zootopia here and it was awesome!!! We were in #9 and it as pretty big with 250 seats. We got there 10 mins before the movie started and we're able to find 2 seats in the middle back. It was super packed and there were so many children there but for the most part it was a good experience. We wanted to go to the AMC Roosevelt Field but all the good seats were taken so we restored to coming here. The seats are pretty comfy and I guess my dislike would be how you can't pick your seats beforehand. So I would suggest getting maybe half an hour before your movie showing to land a good seat. read more

We have the undeclared goal of visiting every AMC theater ever...because I get the cheap tix online. This one is satisfactory. It appears to have been built or remodeled in the mid-90s, based on its look. But it's been kept clean and cared for, I must say. Buying tickets is annoying, until you remember places where you have to purchase outside. SO...TO HELP! THE TICKET COUNTER IS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PLACE. THE DEAD CENTER. I like the place and would definitely go back. Remember what side you park on and entered through. This place is a JOKE!! Since my last review I've avoided this theater like the plague but I accidentally bought tickets for here online. They now have "assigned seating" but DON'T LET IT FOOL YOU! It's the same old outdated theater. Even worse, because the assigned seats I selected and paid for were occupied by someone else when I arrived on a packed movie premiere night. Since it's the same old cramped theater, it's impossible to even confront someone who has taken your seat. My husband and I lucked out and found another pair of seats together, but I'm going to be extra careful when ordering my tickets from now on so that I never make this mistake again! read more

The theater is old and dated, but its definitely a lot cheaper than most of the AMC in the city. One thing I would note, this theater has not converted to the assigned seating process that most AMC are on now. You should arrive early if you want to get a good seat. read more

Good location. Plenty of parking which is always a good thing. This AMC has yet to upgrade to the pleather reclining chairs like other AMCs which may also be why they tend to lighter on the crowd. They do not give the option to reserve seats as well so if it's a hot movie, I'd get there earlier for better seats. read more

Probably the only theater left in NYS that has not been updated. The seats are old and incredibly uncomfortable with springs sticking you in the tush and back. I realize it is Christmas and someone has to work but if it is your job to work on a holiday, smile and make the most of it. There are some people who appreciate you for it. The food??? Stale popcorn and flat soda. No heat in the theater. I think my toes froze. I could go on and on because I can't think of even one nice thing to say about this place so I will end it here. Just go someplace else UPDATE Spoke to the manager on duty on our way out and told him that all we could hear throughout the movie was the gang of employees hanging out in the hallway (which was no more than 15 feet away him). My favorite movie theater on all of Long Island. I like that it's not busy / crowded, and it's old school and nostalgic. They are also one of the few AMC theaters that show independent movies.
