Chill outdoor spot in Venice, complete with fire pits at certain tables. Not enough restaurants serve ribs and the Ribs at American Beauty were definitely the best dish we ordered. The Negroni, Brussel Sprouts, Carrots and Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake were all solid. The Lamb Chops were actually bad (overcooked and very small), while the Stuffed Hashbrown didn't have much flavor and is definitely overhyped. For two we probably could have done with one less dish, but all of the entrees are served à la carte so need to order sides as well. Our server was very friendly and helpful. read more

Ok. So this place is in my regular rotation - it is an incredible spot overall and I appreciate that the servers give honest recommendations, like how to get your steak cooked depending on the chef. The ambience is meh, but pretty typical for this area of Venice. It's casual but stylish at the same time. There's almost exclusively outdoor seating but you CAN get indoor options and sit at the bar; my fave is at the bar, followed by inside. I don't love the gravel everywhere outside, but the vibes outside are fun and the tables are nicely spaced. ONE time, my steak was served cold, but this was very uncommon and they did heat it up; however, that cooked it a little more so kind of a bummer. There are often issues with food h consistency, so I took one star off. Absolute must order: the flatbread (though I feel like there used to be more labneh?), glazed carrots, steak, hash brown (but sometimes disappointing!), salmon, the cocktails Skip: the Brussels sprouts (normally a huge fan but these are way too salty) The menu does change (yay!) and other dishes are also a delight, but the above are pretty consistently on there. read more

Decided to come here because it was a block away from our AirBnB. I was excited to try it from the pictures here and high praise. I would recommend you make a reservation because this seems to be a local spot amongst the residents in this area. Wee were seated outdoors, though I don't know if they have indoor seating available. Or it they do, how many are they able to accommodate. There are some tables that are covered, but others are pretty much exposed. There is an indoor bar. It also shares space with The Window, which is a burger spot. This place is definitely a nice and inviting place to go to for food and drinks. We ordered the grilled artichoke, burrata, bluefin tuna tartar & 14oz ribeye (medium rare). The tuna had good flavors, but I can definitely taste the fishiness of it. Though very light. The artichoke was just ok. Not a lot of meat on it as 90% of the vegetable is inedible. Didn't taste too much of that char like I've seen in other pictures. I took away a star because our steak, which we've been waiting a while for, came on the rare side. It was dark outside so I couldn't really see how rare it was. But as I was slicing in to it so that the 4 of use could share, it was not cutting well at all. I just figured the knife sucked. But then I bit in to it and definitely can tell that it was rare inside. We then asked for it to be cooked a little more, but because I had already sliced up the whole thing, I guess the only way to cook it more was probably to pan fry it. Which definitely already ruined the flavor of it being grilled. I did notice that it took a while for it to be brought back from the kitchen. Also, our server was MIA and when we were ready to pay, we waited a good 10 minutes and he did not come around, so I asked someone else for the check. Our server finally brought it back and then took off. So I had to wait another 10 minutes. While waiting, the rest of my party left to go back to the AirBnB to get ready for the night. While waiting, I saw our server across the restaurant just talking it up with another table. Which I don't have an issue with, but he could have at least looked up to see if I was ready to pay. He finally looked up and noticed that I was the only left and came by to run my card. I realize this is a one off and not indicative of how the experience was supposed to go. I just ask that they cook the stead to the temp requested and that the server doesn't ignore their assigned tables. read more

First time here and was pleasantly surprised! This restaurant is tucked away in a neighborhood and you'd be surprised how hidden this spot is for the size of the restaurant. It's an outdoor venue with a really nice ambiance with string lights and fire pits. I ordered the fish and side of Mac n cheese. The fish was my favorite! Crunchy outside and perfectly cooked on the inside. Really flavorful and a unique dish. The Mac n cheese was also very good! No complaints on the service. Service here is very friendly! They forgot the wine at first and the steak was very tough for one of us. The staters were the best- the flatbread and the Caesar I would get again! I live close by and have had the burgers at The Win-Dow many times, but this was my first time dining at their steakhouse. They also have a new location at The Grove. This Venice location being the original. I can honestly say it was a great meal and I especially liked the outdoor atmosphere and everyone around us seemed to have a really good time as well. It's pretty lively, but not overly loud because the tables are spread far apart thankfully. It's outdoors, but it's also partially covered and it was not breezy so it was not very cold. Our server was very polite and everything that we ordered came out pretty fast. Parking in this area can be a bit difficult, the best thing will be a street spot in front or the other best option will be to find a space in the neighborhood behind the restaurant, which is what we did. We started the meal with the Grilled Prawns and they were fantastic. I would say they were one of my favorite parts. They were seasoned well and grilled perfectly and were just a big hit at the table. Next came the Frisee Caesar Salad and that too was great. It had a lot of flavor and was pleasantly crunchy. Next up was the Wood Grilled Flatbread and we thought that was fantastic. Definitely don't miss it. The labneh honey combo was addicting, it was a real treat. Finally we tried the Tuna Tartare which was very light and packed with flavor. Finally we had the Steakhouse Burger which was one of the best burgers we've had in a long time. The spot is tucked away and the definition of a Venice local restaurant. They have a large outdoor area for dining that you wouldn't even see from the streets. There's fireplaces, string lights and makes for great ambiance. The steak was a standout especially the fermented steak sauce. Found our experience at American Beauty to be very mediocre across the board. The service was mediocre and we found the food to be the same. The place was really packed and popping so that was nice to see. The one highlight was the grilled flatbread that was very tasty. I reserved outdoor seating and when we checked in at the front, we were seated by an outdoor heater. Here's what we ordered: - Wood Grilled Flatbread: Smoked honey, labneh. $12 Delicious. Absolutely delicious. If there's one appetiser/starter you get, this is the one to get. - Crispy Calamari: Furikake, lime aioli. $17 Super fresh, crispy, and yet soft. The lime aioli was extremely refreshing. - Grilled Prawns: Herb butter, lemon. $22 I cleaned up my plate along with the prawns (& their heads) because there was a lot and really tasty. - Charred Broccolini: Ccalabrian chili caesar, parmesan, migas. $14 - Mac & Cheese: Extra sharp cheddar, crispy breadcrumb. $14 - Creekstone Filet Mignon: 7 oz. $57 We asked for it medium rare and it came out just perfect, so kudos to that. The server "strongly recommended" the House Fermented Steak sauce (for an extra charge for $3); it was terrible - all sweet, no kick, just plain terrible. I'd definitely skip it, because it was quite bad - after we tasted it with our forks, we put it aside; such a waste. - Burnt (Basque) Cheesecake: Candied lemon. $13 FYI: The restaurant adds a 3% Happy and Healthy Surcharge to your bill. This charge is not a gratuity, but rather supports our ability to provide sustainable earnings and benefits for their team. This charge is optional so please let them know if you'd like it removed from your bill. Service is quick and attentive and they being out the dishes as they are ready from the kitchen. The atmosphere is great for date nights, solo outings, and social hangouts. I definitely recommend it. Parking is a nightmare - this is Venice after all. My friend & I randomly came here after bar hopping in Venice. We were pleasantly surprised with the food! The Iowa major steak was amazing, perfectly seasoned and medium. Been here lots of times now - live down the street. Decided this place is just not very good. The drinks and sides are good but the steaks are not. I've had the ribeye a lot of times now and have never once been happy with it (my fault for trying it repeatedly and expecting something different). The cut is just not good it's gnotty and tough and all the good fatty parts of the ribeye aren't there at all. I make a better version at home just pan frying a steak from Whole Foods. Went here after I finished running a Half Marathon & it was sooooo delicious! The gentlemen at the window recommended some sauces and his person favorites, service was a 10/10! I ordered a Cheeseburger with Egg on top & the regular cheeseburger (: 10/10 could probably had two more of each. This form of cheeseburger was like a smash burger and very much affordable. It was my second time there and we had the same waiter last time. I don't remember his name but I think it was Jax(?). He is very attentive and friendly. I had their grilled lamb chops the first time and grilled orata tonight. Both were delicious but I've never ate such a delicious white fish like theirs. I so much wanted to eat their dry aged steak and rib eye but my doggone hiatal hernia doesn't like the fat in the meat. I think they're reasonably priced because grass-feed beef steak would easily be more than twice the cost of what they charge. I can only sigh but hope I can some day try one or more of their steaks I had been visiting this area many times since 2013 but I always ate at Cafe Gratitude. This area feels like home because my parents live at 415 Rose Ave. in 1965, two buildings up the street from this restaurant. The outdoor dining area is very pleasant and unique because the surface is covered in rocks. It feels like you're in nature. The Flatbread was absolutely amazing and one of the best combos of bread and cheese spread I've ever had. I would come back and just order this lol. My next favorites were the Prawns, Mac & Cheese, and Carrots. Everything else was just okay in my opinion and unfortunately the rib eye was very much on the rare side and basically pink throughout. One of my friends got really sick the next day and we think it might have been the rib eye because he ate a majority of it so I would stay away from this dish. We finally got around to trying this place. Sat outside during Winter in December. Even with the heat lamps and twinkle lighting...the large area lacks a coziness maybe because it's still kind of chilly. Or, maybe because the tables are also unusually spaced far from one another which is good on one hand but also kind of isolating. I would be open to try it in the Summer or Spring but not again in Winter. Wish the food was more interesting. It was just ok...kinda forgettable. read more
