We were craving for French dip and yelped for best place for French dip, and American Grub was one of the entries listed. Since it was close to my work, I went there. I ordered French dip, regular fries, garlic fries, 7 pieces of buffalo wings and teriyaki chicken sandwich (protein style). The service was nice. It was to go and tipped generously. While waiting, I crossed the street to a bookstore and stumbled on an author event (Mom and daughter of Umma cookbook). It was fun! Anyhow, I went back and picked up the good. Went home and unpacked by food. First - There NO au jus (dip) for the French dip. The sandwich was DRIED. I ordered garlic and regular fries. I got two "pizza" boxes of A LOT of regular fries. Chicken wings tasted good but also on the dried side. I asked for blue cheese (for the wings) and got ranch dressing instead. My chicken sandwich was OK, with pieces of lettuces thrown on top of the chicken and tomato slices. Check your to-go order to make sure everything is there. I gave it a 3-star rating because I see potentially good food here. However, the to-go sloppiness is inexcusable. It was an expensive, "unsatisfying" dinner. read more

This is our go-to weekend lunch. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It's got a nice vibe, with plenty of tables inside and out including a really big table in the middle of the main restaurant that seats 14 or so (guessing by eye). We have been a handful of times, we have not been disappointed. Teen boys love the burger options, personally I like the wraps... Husband likes the sandwiches - and the sides are all good. All the food is fresh, homemade and high quality ingredients. Nothing appears to be from a freezer, and if it is - they disguise it well. I found this place randomly after getting off work early, and I will 100% be returning! The staff was super friendly and amazing, and the food was PHENOMENAL. I got a nice glass of wine, the salmon sandwich, and the breaded fried pickles with cream cheese which were so good I ordered more to go the second I found out they were one of the limited time specials on the menu. Exceptional service! Michael, Sandy and Cassie are fabulous! The level of attention and service is what you would experience at a high-end steakhouse. This is my favorite local burger spot! I always get my burgers well done since it is ground beef. The patty is always juicy never dry not over seasoned, with a beautiful charbroiled flavor. We had a pastrami burger with grilled jalapeño and onion, fantastic! It was the perfect symphony of flavors. We also had garlic tots, which had tons of beautiful fresh garlic on top of these delectable crispy NOT greasy tots. The fired green bean with jalapeño ranch are also a must. I finally made time to stop by and try out one of their burgers on an early Monday evening. The place was not crowded at all, however I do tend to eat dinner earlier than most people. There is plenty of seating inside and outside. Outside is really nice since you get a view of the quaint little downtown area. My servers were both polite and attentive. They made sure I was always doing alright and if I needed anything. I was a simple customer. All I ordered was the Wyatt Earp burger. No fries and no soda. I wanted to give this bad boy all my attention and taste buds. The patty was made to perfection, medium as I requested. The onion rings were nice and crunchy, the bacon was crisp and thick, and the buns were warm and toasty. The bbq sauce combined made this burger one of the best BBQ burgers I have had in a long time. Heavy love to the chick with blue-ish dyed hair, you are going to go far with such perfect customer service. Rosemary Herb Fries: Don't let the name fool you, these are just plain but good fries. Ask for a plate with different dipping sauces and go to town. Garlic Cheesy Bites: These were really good, plain or sauced. I liked the taste with their honey mustard dip. Super bummed, wanted to support a woman owned local business but unfortunately our meals just didn't do anything for us. Service was great as was the ambiance. The food was just mediocre () I had the Tuna Melt with rosemary fries and I'll give that the Tuna was a little dry as maybe it's not rotated as often not being a popular sandwich or what not but the rosemary fries were practically naked. The burger was "dry" and the meat lacked seasoning, the onion rings were nicely done. My husband had the patty melt and noted how dry the meat was and left half on the table. Came here for a Saturday lunch and it wasn't too busy at all. You can find parking around neighborhood areas for street parking, or the public parking lots nearby as well. Once we step foot in the shop, we were seated right away. The restaurant isn't too huge at all either, so it was very quaint. My bf ordered the guilty burger and I ordered just the classic cheeseburger. We also ordered a side of garlic fries! It wasn't too long until our garlic fries came in. These were actually really good! They were the crinkle cut type of fries and they were extremely crispy. Very generous with the garlic as well! They also gave us this ranch sauce (?) to complement with it. It honestly tasted like eating sour cream and onion chips when you taste the combination lol. Then our burgers shortly came after. Looking at mines first glance, it does look kind of standard, so I had high hopes for that maybe it tasted better than it looked. It did not lol. It was a very very standard burger. The buns were also not warm at all, and everything tasted like it was a slightly slightly colder than room temperature. The patty itself was the only thing that was warm. The ingredients felt like nothing elevated each other. It doesn't taste like a premium burger which it should have been. My bf also agreed about his burger as well. It tasted like just ingredients put together, but nothing really tasted that elevated. We were honestly pretty disappointed with the burgers here. Overall, I would have given the burgers maybe 3/5, but the garlic fries and the service here is 5/5. This was our fastest lunch yet! Although, they really should reconsider about their burgers. I get the AG Charred Romaine Chicken Salad (it's a delicious wedge) with a lemon basil dressing and their to-die-for tater tots. I've never had to wait long for a party of 2 or party of 8 at lunch time, and service is fast and friendly. We ordered the pulled pork, mushroom Swiss burger and plain French fries. I was told that the pulled pork tasted good. It was topped with a lot of tasty slaw. The mushroom Swiss burger was hard for me to eat. The buns were saturated. To me it was extremely greasy. I had ordered my burger medium well since I am currently restricted from eating underdone beef. I got something very pink, medium. The burger did not have a lot of flavor. The crinkle cut fries were ok. We ordered these separately and shared since neither sandwich came with a side. The waiter dropped the check and asked how everything was while he was walking away. My response was that it was so so. He did not inquire about why my response was that. For me to have the burger that I ordered with fries and a soft drink it is over $27. We love this place. The food and service are awesome. Tonight, my husband accidentally spilled his water. Within moments, and without needing to flag anyone down, two servers were at our table. One wiping it down, the other with a fresh glass of water. They checked on us constantly (not because of the spill, just because) and did all they could to make our experience great. Disappointing visit. I went due to their high ratings. Here's an honest review.... Good: Location; In the heart of Old town Tustin. Parking could take a minute or two. Vibe; The restaurant interior has some cool decorations and artwork. Outside (I didn't sit there, too cold, weather) seems real pleasant, peaceful and charming. Menu; Generic, yet dedecent enough. Burgers, Salads, Wings, Chicken, Sandwiches, Drinks. Staff; Inefficient (see below), but pleasant and friendly enough. Bad: Prices; They offer no combo options on their Sandwiches or Burgers, so it's a poor-value ala carte menu. Basic Cheeseburger & Fries is roughly $22. Soft drink is an additional $4.50. With Tax? $27. Outrageous! Service; Atrocious. I was dining inside (small dining area with every table within eye view of the entire restaurant) and I sat for 13 minutes waiting for ANYONE to approach me. It was NOT busy. Service; I asked my server if they charge Ranch for my fries. I was told no. They charged me anyway. Another example of poor service standards and lack of awareness Pettiness; I ordered a plain Cheeseburger with pickles only. I saved them the Lettuce, Tomato & Onions food cost. And, they had the audacity to charge me for the Pickles. I was shocked. Seriously? Who does that? "Thanks for saving us the cost of those onions, tomatoes and lettuce. But, we'll charge you for those 4 pickles on your food" Taste; Burger ~ as I said ~ was generic. Wasn't great. Wasn't horrible. It was just a grossly overpriced generic burger you would find at Dennys, Norms or Red Robin. Nothing proprietary about their Burgers. Due to the poor service, petty Nickel and Dime charges, overly expensive food and generic tasting food, I cannot recommend this place. Will I return? Unlikely. I hope Management sees this honest review and trains their staff on attentiveness and guest Awareness. I also hope Management would also consider a Burger/Fry/Drink combo for..... I really wanted to like this place. I've been eating my way through Santa Ana and Tustin this week and have had nothing but great experiences everywhere else. American Grub was unfortunately a major miss. The water tasted off, and it was so noticeable that it completely ruined the Sprite as well. The flat soda made the bad water taste even more prominent. Not a great start. The pulled pork grilled cheese was disappointing on every level. The appearance alone was enough to give pause, and the flavor didn't do it any favors either. The patty melt came out with noticeably undercooked meat. When we flagged it and asked for it to be cooked more, they brought the same plate back out rather than remaking it. Even after that, the dish still didn't taste right. The service was underwhelming throughout, and for the prices they're charging, the overall experience just didn't come close to justifying it. I'm genuinely not a harsh critic and this is one of the few times I've felt compelled to leave a negative review. Honestly, I was shocked to see a 4.4 star rating. Came here last night with my husband for dinner. We had been here before and really enjoyed their hamburgers so we decided to come back and try it again. We arrived just before the dinner crowd. We were seated right away. Our server was a very nice gentleman (I didn't catch his name) brought us our water and took our order. My husband ordered the Wyatt Earp burger and I ordered the Antonio burger and we shared the rosemary fries. Both of our burgers were delicious. The Antonio burger had pepper Jack cheese and avocado and pico de gallo on a toasted brioche bun. The Wyatt Earp burger had bbq sauce and onion ring . The fries were nice and hot and the rosemary was not overpowering. We will definitely be back! I need to try the bread pudding they have for dessert. read more

Their menu has so many great options - I've tried a variety, including the French Dip, burgers, Cajun Chicken Sandwich, Pulled Pork Sandwich, Spicy Buffalo Wings, and the AG Shrimp & Farro Salad.
