    Buyer beware - they charge over $400/hour for labor. For a company as well known and as "reputable" as American Mechanical, we had higher expectations for their level of service. There is a high end AC unit in our home, still covered under warranty, installed by American Mechanical only 3 years ago. Our AC went out Monday, 6/28. We asked for a quote on diagnostic fee before we had them come out, it was reasonable around $80-90. Technician came out that afternoon, troubleshooted, cleared the lines and replaced the Thermostat (covered under warranty). Our verbal quote went from "around $300" to "around $700" after more diagnosing, to exactly $1,469.00 when we saw it in writing. The tech left with the intent of returning the following day to replace an ACF board. An hour after the tech left, our AC cut off. This tell us the work he did, was not the root cause of the issue. On 6/29 he returned to replace one part (ACF Board - also covered under warranty) for an additional $286.50 in labor. He assured us the unit was functioning at 100%. To date, we've paid $1,755.50 for an AC unit that is covered under warranty. An hour after the tech left on 6/29, the AC cut off again - telling us the root cause was never found. Since Monday, 6/28 we have been asking for an itemized invoice outlining parts vs. labor and they have refused to provide since this "isn't something they do" so we don't know what exactly we've paid for. We had another company come out Wednesday, 6/30 for a second opinion; from the beginning, they called Trane Tech Support to troubleshoot (something American Mechanical never did). All HVAC techs have repeatedly said our unit is high end, high tech so I appreciate the new company going straight to the source instead of executing trial and error at our expense. This new company was able to solve the issue in half the time for half the price and our AC has been working fine ever since. Since American Mechanical never solved the problem and we've paid them nearly $1,800 for we're not sure what, we have repeatedly called since 6/28 for the following: (1) an itemized invoice, (2) photos indicating WHY the thermostat and the ACF Board needed to be replaced and (3) a manager willing to accept accountability. We have received none of these things. It is 7/4 and we still haven't heard from the service manager. They are now avoiding our calls (manager always seems to be busy when we call), not returning our messages and we're simply pleading for them to do what is right. I'm happy to adjust my review if they hold themselves accountable. While they have several positive reviews, there's a chance this could also happen to you. Save your money and trust us when we say TAKE YOUR HVAC BUSINESS ELSEWHERE. They're capable of doing this to anyone else.

A very pleasant experience and customer service driven. This is a Local Family business that hasn't forgotten the meaning of customer service and Communication! I have an aged a/c that is limping along. Not once did anyone jump to selling me a new one. They determined I had radically low Freon (for which they undercharged me based on an estimate that had been a tad low.) They used a leak kit (something involving dye that glows under a black light?) to help identify the leak in future if that should turn out to have been the problem. It indeed was the problem. When I called a few weeks later to report that my a/c wasn't doing much cooling, I was put on the schedule for two days later (there was rain or it would've been the next day.) The leak was identified thanks to their foresight, repaired, and for that service I was charged a grand total of just over $80. I would recommend this business to anyone. Also, it's always a pleasure calling and talking to the scheduler. She's a delight.

Jorge and Brian have been…read moreperforming routine maintenance on my unit for the last few years, after I initially called Chesapeake Heating & Air Conditioning because my 1-year-old unit was blowing warm air, and I thought it had already died or had a major Freon leak. Brian walked in, took a look at the unit and said he knew EXACTLY what the problem was five seconds later. He saw the float valve was popped up on the drainage tube (which I didn't even realize was something I needed to be on the lookout for ). He cleaned out the drainage tube and the rest of the unit for good measure, and I appreciated both the quick assessment, resolution, and education he gave me on maintenance during that visit. I signed up for their twice-yearly maintenance package that day, and I've been a happy subscriber ever since. Jorge has come to do the maintenance the last couple of times, and he is thorough and equally as knowledgeable as Brian. When he had a concern about the air flow coming out of one of the vents, he was quick to volunteer to crawl under the house to take a look at the duct work, and I really appreciated his honest assessment of it. The insulation is starting to fall down and wear out, but I was pleasantly surprised to hear that I could save up a few more years before the ductwork would probably actually need full replacing, and he gave me a ballpark figure based on the square footage and number of vents in my house, so I can plan accordingly. Much appreciated!! A company that employs people with such knowledge and integrity is a company that will have my business for decades to come. Their twice-yearly maintenance for heating and air conditioning is easily one of the best (and surprisingly affordable!) investments I make each year. Worth every penny!

I was so worried that I was about to have a three day weekend without AC ahead of me. Thanks to Connor Air Repair (and my landlord for scheduling the appointment) I'm up and running again before 2pm! Not only did the technicians take care of my issue, but they also went above and beyond to clean the unit and do other more "preventive" care. I really appreciated the social distancing measures that the technicians took as well. Including not having both in the house at the same time unless necessary, wearing masks, maintaining as much physical distance between myself and them as my tiny living room would allow. Both technicians were friendly and respectful of my property while on site as well.   My house is already two degrees cooler since I started this review!

His quote for three ducts was competitive but if he is doing any of the work I wouldn't bother. He did not patch my duct holes close my crawl space door or offer to suction up the water soaked floor after running four or five loads through my washer then tilting it over to inspect it... I ended up going with another company who were a little more expensive but timely respectful and did all the necessary work to ensure the comfort and safety of my family!

I left a message on Sunday hoping for a call back Monday morning but no....I got a call back within 2 minutes. I assured Jeff that we had a toasty fireplace and an electric blanket, we can wait until Monday am. He was punctual and came with very cute booties to cover his shoes. Jeff verified that my husband had done all the resets listed on the furnace properly and that we needed a new logic board, ugh. He then drove to the Trane Parts Store, brought it back and installed it. We felt that the service and labor charges were on par with what we expected. Quick reply, fast service, punctual, neat and clean, fair price. What more could you want? His truck says Heating/Cooling/Plumbing.
