Wonderful food, people, and mission- only the best locally sourced ingredients. All of the food is made with love, and you can really taste it! Eggs Benedict was amazing, hollandaise sauce was perfection. My toddlers pancake was fluffy and she devoured almost the whole thing! Just opened yesterday and already into their stride. Excellent breakfasts as we've come to expect from parent Estero Cafe in Valley Ford. Friendliest staff! Superb ingredients and execution--except for the potatoes: my country-style and Max's hash browns both undercooked and under-seasoned... needed to be browner and crispier. Homemade hot sauce, ketchup and jam all spot-on. Nice to have another downtown breakfast (and more) spot (site of former Gypsy Cafe in downtown Sebastopol). Beer and wine, too. Attractive bar and back-bar; may sit there next time. We'll be back! read more

The waitress was great. Very personable. The restaurant interior was fine but the food was really bland. The potatoes had nothing on them. Not even salt and pepper. My chili quilles were tasteless, the chicken fried steak had no flavor either. For the prices they charged I felt the food could be way better. We ordered takeout, two orders of blueberry pancakes and two breakfast burritos. The blueberries in the pancakes were cold and the batter wasn't completely cooked. The syrup amount was inadequate for the three pancakes in the large stack. The "seasonal fruit" that came with the pancakes was about 2 T's of fruit that was not ripe. One of the burritos didn't have any cheese on it and the other had a quarter size piece of hard cheese in it. There was a "4% Living Wage" surtax on our bill. I suspect most people will subtract that 4% from the percentage of tip they leave so I wonder if the surtax is actually going to help the employee or take away from their tip. read more

Honestly some of the best brunch I've ever had. Ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken and it wasn't the gut bomb I thought it was going to be. Surprisingly refreshing and light. The owner greeted me and my girlfriend at the door. Will absolutely return, waiting for my tastebuds to be sated. read more

Salt, salt, salt. I have eaten at Americana in Sebastopol twice and while the restaurant is cute, and spendy (in my opinion), what was lacking both times was SALT. My patty melt was tasteless and I couldn't season it enough on the bun to make up for the fact that the meat wasn't adequately seasoned. The battered onion rings were absolutely tasteless as well. The batter needs to be better seasoned - once again, I couldn't add enough salt to the ketchup to make up for the lack of flavor. Service was great, noise level okay and ambiance good. I was a big fan of Gypsy until Covid killed dining out, so I was happy to see Americana take over their lease to provide another breakfast/lunch place downtown. But after trying two lunches there I am giving up. First lunch was the chicken and waffle special, a dish that Gypsy did perfectly but at Americana came overpriced, overcooked, and dry, with what I think may have been very watered-down maple syrup and a little dab of butter. Next visit I tried their basic burger, which is actually a cheeseburger ($22 with or without cheese). I ordered rare, it came well-done, flattened and dry on an enormous bun. I'm giving it a second star because the service, though quite slow, is friendly, and the ambience is cheerful. read more

Great lunch with friends today at Americana. I had the cheeseburger with fries and it was done perfectly. My friends had a salad and a chicken sandwich. Menu is ample with options for breakfast and lunch. The atmosphere is light and bright and staff are attentive and welcoming. Highly recommend. read more

The combo breakfast is the best choice! I wish I would've been able to take a picture of the food, but I couldn't resist! The French toast had an amazing fruit medley that added the perfect crunch and freshness to the dish. Also, don't know if their syrup was made in house, but wow, sooooo good. WOW!! What find! stumbled in from out of town and didn't know what to expect. The food is outstanding! Ample portions cooked in a healthy, ghee, beef tallow etc.., way and totally true to the words farm to table! This will be my new go to when I am in town. Finally tried breakfast here and it was yummy though a little pricey. I recommend the breakfast burrito and others in my group had the breakfast sandwich and chilaquiles and thought it was awesome. The reason why I deducted a star is bc our orders were messed up and bc the chocolate chip pancake was not good. First, the waitress raved about the sourced bread so we ordered the breakfast sandwich with no aioli, but it came with the aioli on the bread which then defeated the fresh bread recommendation. Second, the breakfast burrito came with onions when we asked for no onions. Third, and this was the big one. The pancake was forgotten or lost in the queue and did not arrive until after everyone was done eating. To make the situation worse, the pancake was not good. It was dense and the chocolate chip all melted on one side. For $15 you get two pancakes that I could have made with premade mix at home so much better. The cider syrup was not good either. Sounds fancy but just watered down syrup. The waitress was conscientious of the situation and did bring a cookie to hold over the pancake order that was coming...I thought the mess up was the cooks bc the waitress had read everything back to us, but after I paid and looked at the receipt realize it was that the order was not entered in correctly. All the extras were entered but not the "no". Still a fresh food place, but it would have been a great breakfast if not for the mess up on 3 of 5 orders. Lastly not a fan of the 4% living wage fee. I don't want to see that after the fact. Incorporate in the food prices or somewhere else. It's an operating cost not a consumer direct cost. read more

I'm so excited for this place! Most (all?) of the ingredients are local and/or organic and of course you can taste the difference. The menu is classic American food (hence the name) but it's all the most delicious of the classics. Locally owned, great art inside, friendly service. Also, know that at the end they give you a 4% up charge to pay their employees. Well. This charge is deceiving. Raise your prices 4%. They don't want anyone to see higher prices, so they just added at the end of the bill. Two eggs, potatoes and toast $15.... Fine, but the presentation was worse than I serve at my house for my kids. The server touted the 'Sebastopol' omelette as the best option for a Sunday morning. What arrived was a poor excuse for what we paid for it. ($24.00). Made with sliced tomatoes, a dab of pesto and crumbled cheese of some kind. Along with hash browns that were overcooked with burnt spots.
