I do not recommend Americus in Derry. We had an awful experience from beginning to end. The hostess was very rude, the food was awful (French onion soup was extremely salty and the sirloin was inedible, couldn't even chew it), we got two wine flights and they were all different pours, the service was VERY slow even after being seated 30 min later than our reservation and the management is also very unapproachable and rude. It was 9 pm by the time we left the restaurant, didn't want to speak to a manager just wanted to get home. The very next day at 4 pm (that's when they open) I called the manager to tell him about my experience. He was very dismissive and said they like to take care of things in a timely manner so I should have said something the night before. He said he'd look into my complaint and get back to me about what he could do. This was over a month ago. I never heard from him again. read more

So glad we enjoyed ourselves at this new place nearby. Playing the par 3 and then a nice dinner is probably my favorite way to spend an afternoon/evening. Restaurant is attractive and has inviting decor. Outdoor seating is very nice overlooking a pond and fountain. We were seated promptly (had opentable reservation) but waited a bit for a server. Cocktails and wine were enjoyable. We had salads and a pizza. Both were very tasty. Pizza crust crispy with good toppings. Spinach salad had nice bits of bacon and mushrooms, but the dressing had too much lemon. Overall, a very nice experience. read more

This was our first time trying Americus and done take out in which the the order was all messed up. Order burger well done and it was rare. Chicken breast was still pink and missing an order of soup. Called to inform that the order was missing and wanted to be refunded soup and hostess was ok but really didn't seem to care and stated we will be refunded the missing soup. I'm sadly disappointed with Americus and will not return. read more

In general, I like Americus, however, my last experience dining here was as massively underwhelming. To start, it took so long to get a server to come to our table (which is not the first time this has happened to me here, but last time they made it up to our party by bringing champagne which was very nice of them). I came with my mom for her birthday, she got the vegetarian poke bowl and when it arrived it had very underdone rice. Throughout our meal, our server never came to refill our waters. The general manager, Jaylen (spl?), stopped by to see how our meal was, which is when my mom let me know that her rice was underdone. He did nothing about it and casually said that they must be having an "off day" in the kitchen. He also was aware that it was my mom's birthday, so the least he could've done was asked if she wanted something else. Shameful. The only thing that I can say that was nice, was the ambiance of the restaurant. Overall, if you would like to get ignored by management and servers, Americus is your place. read more

I was part of a large group of about 10 or 12 people. Service was very slow, they forgot one appetizer completely, we had to ask for water to be refilled, our server disappeared for well over a half hour and we had to ask someone to get him. Empty appetizer plates remained on the table without being cleared for way too long. The steak dinner and pork tenderloin dinner was below average, chicken breast was quite dry. The bill was confused, and we ended up being stuck there for nearly 4 hours by the time we all got fed and the bill paid. This was not a good experience and I have no intention of going back again. Took my wife to number at America's for the first time sat at the bar. The bar and restaurant was busy but not crazy and the bar staff have plenty of kitchen help delivering the food. The bar service was bad. Having to ask for a glass of water three times, had to ask if they had any specials which they did and constantly remind the bar girl can I PLEASE have another drink is annoying. Sorry but she was an air head. The couple next to us asked why it's taking almost 40 minutes for their meal and I'm thinking my wife and I have been waiting a while. My pizza had obviously been done for quite a while as it arrived cold but my wife enjoyed her meal. My cocktail was priced reasonably but $18 for a glass of Prosecco is absurd. read more

My husband and I love coming here for our anniversary and have always had great service but our last trip was just off. Took 25 minutes to get drinks and the waiter forgot our appetizer. Our meal came and she didn't apologize or bring it at all. Our food took another 30 minutes and came out cold. We were going to order dessert but didn't think it was worth it at this point. As a General Manager for a fine dining group in Boston, I decided to check out Americus when we had some family visiting. Put simply, my wife and I have found a new favorite. Everything was a hit, ambiance, service, and food. The house Seyval Blanc, recommended by our server Spencer, was excellent. The hummus was fantastic with the house made bread, everyone raved about their entrees, and even the kids' pizza was a hit with my 4 year old son. Spencer spent just enough time telling us about the history of LaBelle winery, made fantastic recommendations, and never made us feel less-than for having brought children into the restaurant. (We do typically save the kids for more casual establishments, but again, family in town!) Service timing was impeccable, and the facility itself was beautiful, though we didn't get to enjoy the patio due to some questionable weather. We will be back, and we would recommend this restaurant, and more specifically Spencer, to anyone who cared to ask! read more

Three stars because the burger was so flavorful, (extremely juicy), the French Onion Soup was hot and very good, (not too salty), but expensive, ($11), and the service was excellent. The server we had was very attentive, polite, and efficient. We can understand why it's a fun place for bridal showers, etc, with all the wine. However, it's just way too expensive. We opted for burgers, $18, because the salmon was $28, for example. I thought the "hand-cut fries" were going to be good, but they weren't. They weren't good at all, in fact. Very disappointing. Like they were hanging around and got reheated. Again, though, the service was great and the atmosphere was fun, with large groups of happy girls getting tipsy, and wine women doing the same. Seems like fodder for a comic's routine. At least it was a happy noise. Anyway, the atmosphere was casual and interesting, loud but not like a pub, the decor was a little odd: The lights are a little too goth. But, still, fun enough. Just way too expensive. read more

5 times I've tried this place, because I really want it to be good. The reality, I've been disappointed 5 times. The most recent visit is the last. Overpriced isn't even the word, the food quality, portions and just mediocrity make this place a wasted night out. I was there with a large party, 9 people, and all the food came out together - off to a good start. Then my wife noticed mayo on her sandwich that she requested no mayo on. Mentioned it to the waitress, she froze up and asked if we wanted to just scrape it off. We declined, and asked for a new sandwich without mayo. Pretty basic ask. Fast forward 30 min and 2 other meals in my party being inedible (pasta so overcooked it was mushy). Manager came over to rectify the crappy pasta situation, he offered a dessert to each of them. Fast forward to the end of the meal, and I both pasta dishes still full because like I said, inedible. I asked the waitress if they would be removed from the bill, to which she replied no because they got dessert for free. I told her to take a look at their dishes and tell me If she would pay for that... so she took the pasta dishes off the bill and charged them for the dessert. Needless to say this was an extremely petty way to handle the situation and enough for me to write this long review. My $18 steak and cheese sandwich was an empty 2 slices of bread. My wife's chicken sandwich that we asked for no mayo and to add avocado came out with mayo and the waitress told me should didn't have avocado. Meanwhile 2 seats down my sister was picking the avocado off of her salad asking if anyone wanted it. This place is an absolute joke. Save your money. read more

Good atmosphere and stunningly poor prep on food. Stick to the burgers and pizza, they are edible. Be sure to ask for fresh made fries otherwise you may get the last leftover warmish soggy batch, not really excusable for how long you wait for food and $$ being paid. Not sure anyone here is a trained chef and certainly not at the level of the prices being charged.. We have tried this place several times and tried several dishes and desserts. Early dinner (5:30) for a group of 8 where I couldn't make a reservation of that size with Open Table, I needed to phone the restaurant directly. When I called I had no idea what to expect ,but was thrilled to learn that I could make a reservation for the date & time I needed. So not gauging the time correctly I arrived a early and noticed another of our dinner party had done the same. We entered the restaurant through a beautifully decorated walkway. I explained at the desk that we had a reservation ( 5:30) but would like to have a drink at the bar & chat before the rest of our party arrived. The ba hir is gorgeous - quite large with only 1 bartender - probably because it was so early. The drink menu looked quite impressive. But Americus is a winery restaurant & my goal was to sip a great glass of wine. From the list you have the option of ordering a flight. But in speaking with the bartender, who was so knowledgeable I decided on a house Malbec. My companion ordered a hot, mulled wine. The aroma of the mulled wine served with a cinnamon stick was everything you'd think of enjoying on a cool, Fall evening... I will add that my Malbec was outstanding. It wasn't long before the rest of our party arrived and we were off into the beautiful dining area. Due to our large party we were seated by the back wall. I actually thought it perfect where we could all talk without interruption. Our server Ashlie was awesome. She answered everyone's questions & guaranteed separate checks would not be a problem. Taking our beverage orders ( for 8) some with chosen flights was quite a feat & she got it all perfect. I decided to switch to another red - the Americus, a blend and found it to be a tad light but all the same very good. For my meal I ordered a 1/2 house salad which was perfectly sized. A mix of crisp greens, with the most delicious house made dressing - so good I'd wished I'd ordered a full size.Bread was served in small baskets with a generous portion of wine- flavored butter, another win. My main course was an appetizer - their version of baba ganoosh... With house made toast points Another win! My dining companion to my left ordered a lobster fig combo pizza which for her missed the mark. To my right my other dining companion had ordered a mushroom pizza that she said was outstanding . Across from me a gentleman ordered a Bolognese pasta dish that he was enjoying . And kiddie corner, another diner was into her lobster Mac & cheese. I asked the other end of the table how things were going - I of the diners had ordered a clam dish that she wasn't thrilled about...but the others found what they ordered excellent. So , 6 positives out of 8. Throughout our meal Ashlie was attentive, but didn't overdo it. None of us ordered dessert but if I had I probably would have gone with the cheesecake and wine inspired berry sauce. Maybe next time & there will definitely be a next time! Driving in, this place is impressive. It sits at the top of a hill with a long driveway upward. You pass a pond with a fountain , and golf course on the left. The parking lot is shared with their market store where I believe they also do tastings. It was too cold to be outside but I noticed the chairs & tables set up by the pond & thought it would have been perfect for a summer evening... There is also an area to dine Al fresco under cover. All very resort- like. We are planning to return in January for one of their soon to be themed illumination nights .. Fire & Ice. Can't wait! read more

For a four star+ dining restaurant it's unfortunate that I have to write about a poor experience. I was among a party of six and did not receive my meal with the rest of my party. I ordered the evening halibut special for $ 38.00. Twenty minutes later I was served. The manager apologized for the delay, stating the chef wasn't happy with the dish because he felt it was over cooked. While the server apologized a several times for dropping ball, by not putting my order in. After twenty minutes I final was served. At his point, my party started boxing their overs. I respectfully tipped the server for her honesty, despite my dissatisfaction. The manager did honor me with a take home brownie for desert. read more

There was metal in my food from a Brillo pad. They took my meal off the bill but the handling of the situation in whole was not all right. Our waiter did not even check on us until most people were done eating and that's when I had to tell him about the metal. Then it took him coming over again for a manager to even show up a good 20 minutes after I had spoken with the waiter the first time. The manager didn't offer anything and proceeded to tell us this happened once before. I didn't get to eat the majority of my meal and no other food or meal was offered. I ended up coming home, flossing and finding more metal lodged in my tooth along with a cut from the original piece on my inner mouth. The whole incident was careless and poorly executed. read more

Ambiance is wow! You'd think you were stepping into a fancy restaurant in Boston, certainly feels high end. Service was a tad slow but our server was training another, so we gave them the benefit of the doubt, and they are new so I'm sure working out the kinks. We started with a cheese plate appetizer, as with most restaurants they never give enough crackers for the cheese board ratio, but we asked and got more no big deal.. it was tasty. I opted for the rigatoni bolognese, the fresh pasta was cooked perfectly al dente, the sauce was very rich and it came out hot. My wife ordered the steak frites, which was seasoned well, a tad cold and a very small portion.. more like steak tenderloins. I considered ordering the rib eye but didn't want to pay $50, a little steep for Derry NH. The blueberry dessert was overpowered with lemon flavor, could barely taste the blueberries, we wouldn't order it again. The atmosphere certainly feels high end. I felt a little underdressed in jeans. This was a last minute decision, so we were told that there were no tables because reservations were fully booked. However, as we were about to leave, another hostess kindly suggested we check out bar seating, which we did and it was fine. Those bartenders were extremely busy and it was amazing to watch! My husband enjoyed his philly cheesesteak sandwich and fries for $19. I ordered the gnocchi with peas and prosciutto for $22. The gnocchi was tender, but unfortunately the minced garlic was raw. I love garlic, but not biting into raw, bitter bits. With every bite, I kept thinking how much better it would have tasted if the garlic was browned to allow a deeper, richer flavor. I barely ate half of it. Our bartender/server offered to replace my meal after one bite, but it took so long to come out that my husband would have been long finished by the time my replacement meal came. I think scallops would have been a nice protein for the dish, too. We will go back for another try. We really want a nicer restaurant in the area. I want Americus to be a place to celebrate special occasions and to be a 'go to' when we want better food. read more

First with the good news The wait staff was excellent and very thoughtful. They were among the best I have ever seen. I can't imagine they will stay there because this restaurant is doomed to fail. The food was not edible. The onion soup Was doused in Worcestershire and I could not eat it. The cheese was overdone and it had too much bread. The pizza had no flavor and the other food cold in spite of us waiting for it for a long time. There were very few people in restaurant. We were seated and then waited 10 minutes for the young waiter to show up with water. He gave us menus and then walked away. First mistake!! We called him back for cocktails .. martinis and such for 6. They arrived 20 minutes later!!. 3 out of 6 were messed up. One was returned. Slow slow slow service even though we were the first in literally. Folks please order your appetizers and entrees at once. Long gaps between our table being checked on All in all it was a 2.5 hour endurance test. We had a nice meal last night here. We ate at the bar. It was glam. We had the salmon crudités for an appetizer. For dinner he had the American burger. Very good. The fries were amazing. I had the beet salmon. Very good. Both we're cooked perfectly. We had martinis with the appetizers. I had the house Chardonnay with the salmon. A healthy pour. Light flavor would go with any dish. With tip $136.00. Within our regular night out budget. I would put this in the category of fine dining. The bartender was very personable friendly and efficient. Seemed like he likes working there which is always a good sign. We will definitely go back. Hopefully it doesn't get too crowded. read more

Extremely disappointed! My family and I bundled up, packed into the car and drove over an hour to experience the LaBelle Lights at Derry only to arrive at a dark parking lot. Staff informed us that the displays had been shut down since the weekend due to damage from the winter storm. We purchased our tickets online on Tuesday, no where on their website did they state they were now closed due to storm damage. We received our ticket confirmation emails and no where did it state they were closed due to storm damage. Public Relations 101....when there's a problem, inform the public on ALL of your platforms, ESPECIALLY where you purchase tickets. read more

I probably would not have otherwise! We had mussels as an appetizer and they were very good. Two people in our party ordered pizza - the buffalo lobster pizza is incredible - and one ordered steak frites. If you order this for the steak it is fairly small - the frites are over 50% of the portion. But he ordered some fish chowder to go with it and was happy. The food was by far the worst food I have experienced. Which was upsetting because the waiter was excellent and the manager handled the situation great. My wife and I ordered the steak and the meatloaf and started off with the bubba ghanoush. The pricing is way over priced as they are trying to get NY city pricing and drinks are costly as well. 15 dollars for a mixed drink , 52 dollars for filet Mignon (includes no sides) , 25 dollars for a meatloaf which is by far the worst meatloaf I ever had. Our steak came out cold and our meatloaf I wouldn't give to our dog unfortunately. It was like a brick , burnt on bottom , Dry , very thin. I was shocked when I came to this page to see excellent reviews because everyone I have spoke with has had the same experience with the food being awful. Been here 3 or 4 times now and largely leave disappointed each time. The drinks are weak. The bar tenders are inefficient spending way too much time talking with their friends or the waitstaff. The entrees are.... ugh. It is sad when the most tasty sounding items are pizza, hamburgers, or soup and salad. Order French onion soup as appetizer and had to ask for a spoon to eat it. Also tried the prime rib tonight. It was tough and tasteless. This place wants to be a bit more classy but I think they need to change out the chef if they want to be successful.
