    1/2 Meatball and Lasagna!
    Shawn V.

This is a STL classic place that you have to watch what you order since there are some really good and then some things like the Tomato bisque and it just did not look good nor taste good apparently. I got the Meatball 1/2 sandwich and lasagna and they were both good! I think for 20 bucks it needed bigger meatballs. Lasagna excellent taste and super chzy!! Great place to go for lunch and their original sandwich is a must!

Amighetti's is always a hit, love the turkey special with everything. Wish the baggy of chips was larger and the sandwich fillings didn't squeeze out as you ate, but that's a small price to pay for delicious.

A St. Louis tradition born on The Hill... a famous Italian immigrant community in the City. The fresh baked bread, quality meats, peppercini and special secret sauce makes the sandwich incredible!

It was very good. Got an italian sandwich, and a salad. Got take out, and the employees were very kind when I went in to pick it up.

Amighettis loaded special with pepper jack. 2 orders of toasted raviolis. Garlic bread.

Today I ordered the loaded special sandwhich with pepper jack cheese and it was delicious. It is a big sandwich that is fairly priced. I also had the toasted ravioli and they were good but could have been better. I always look forward to having them when I'm in St. Louis so these hit the spot but remember them being better. Super crispy but could have had more flavor. We also tried the garlic bread and it could have been a little more crispy for my liking. The service was good but took awhile to come out. Plenty of seating inside and out and they also offer curbside pick up. If you're looking for a good a sandwich I'd highly recommend this place.

Came in on a Friday afternoon, it was empty. The young lady at the register greeted us immediately and was super helpful and patient while I decided on what to order! She told me how the special was the most popular and it was listed the menu as "world famous" she also let me try their signature spread; it was like a mix between mayo and pickle relish, creamy and tangy but it was good. I opted for the "build your own," with turkey, salami and ham. I got my daughter the grilled cheese sandwich kids meal. My sandwich was BEAUTIFULLY PRESENTED; stacked perfectly, ingredients very fresh. But the sandwich itself was nothing to write home about. Literally just... a sandwich. The sauce was barely there, so it was just cold meats and cheese in each bite. I could have gotten the same sandwich from dierbergs or Jimmy John's or something for about $5 cheaper. Maybe I should have gotten it on the garlic cheese bread or something? Idk. But I was not all that impressed. The bread was also soft and fresh, I did enjoy that too. I'm Not sure if I'll be back.

Food is good. If you are going on a picnic, float trip, they will pack the sandwiches specifically so the bread doesn't get soggy.

The ingredients seemed good but my chicken thigh was cheap, the chicken was burned, the sauce was too salty, and the sandwich was half heartedly put together. The fries and sauce were very good -- and obviously required the least effort. That's what gives me hope. The restaurant itself has sticky floors (which I've tried to avoid after I turned 30) and is a bit of a mess. There's a towel sitting under the big jug of water. It's just not clean or easy to be in. I saw the pics when you guys were a food truck. I know you were making incredible stuff. The gal at the front was friendly enough, but all in all this was a bull*hit experience considering the potential. The restaurants that are consistently good have the owners/head chef watching, caring, and making sure their workers deliver the experience that was intended. I have no doubt if someone who really cared showed up this place would be all I was hoping.

One Saturday I took my kids to Kirkwood park and decided to stop in at Vitale's on the way home. I'm so glad that I did! The shop isn't anything fancy, there is a counter inside and then a handful of tables outside. It is primarily a to go joint which is pretty standard for delis. It gives off the vibe that you should just stroll up from the neighborhood and grab something to eat, chat for a while with other locals, and then head home. It has a nice, no frills vibe that I really enjoyed. The sandwiches are pretty typical for an Italian Deli with most of them featuring variations of lunchmeat. I'm always a sucker for meatball sandwiches though so that is what I got with a side of chips. It was outstanding. The meatballs were GIANT and they were the right texture. It was large enough that I had to split it across two meals. The owner was really nice when I was inside and talked to both of my kids. The fire place was beautiful. We sampled the regular Poutine and the Shrimp Cocktail. Poutine was delicious and difficult to stop eating. The shrimp was good shrimp. My husband enjoyed his Old Fashions and the house red wine was delicious. We topped our drinks off with an espresso martini. It was exactly how it sounds. Our daughter got a peach tea fizz or spritz something. She liked it. We ordered the sirloin Stroganoff, the cheese perogie, and the fish n' chips, because you can never have enough fries. We loved all three. Probably would not order the stroganoff again, nothing negative about theirs, we just prefer our own family's recipe. The Perogies were delicious. College kid said they were much better than those served at school. She much prefers the crispy top to a soggy one. The fish made us long for Lent. Light, fluffy, delicious. Wasn't a big fan of the coleslaw. Again, just personal preference of liking more mayo and zero celery seeds and I can only guess that is what those were.
