Sadly, I would not recommend this place to anyone. If you want the details, keep reading... Party of 4 people. We ordered queso blanco for an appetizer. It had nice flavor but was extremely thick and just warm. I ordered a margarita on the rocks, which was fine, no complaints. I also got cheese enchiladas topped with mixed fajita meat. The beef was better than the chicken, for sure. I couldn't even swallow the chicken I tasted. It had a strong flavor to it, as if it was made the day before and reheated. Barely any sauce at all on the enchiladas, which made them dry. The rice was fine and the beans were plain ol' beans, nothing special what so ever. Another person in our party had a burger. He said it was "edible" and the other two had combo fajitas. They didn't eat their chicken either. They serve store bought tortillas, I asked. I told Jeff H that I wanted dining al fresco since the weather is sooo nice today (84 degrees in sept?! woah~) He suggested this since it's pretty much halfway from both of our offices. I perused the menu online before heading over and decided on the tilapia taco. I was kinda worried that it was singular and not plural tacos, but Jeff pointed out that it said "grande" Anyway, the chips and salsa are fine. They also give you a little tostada thing to start with. When we got our actual meals, I was surprised to get a wrap or a burrito. what? taco?? Anyway, it also came with beans and rice...blandblandbland. The burrito thing had a good amount of fish and lettuce, tomato, onion, but no taste at all. It had some kind of mango sauce in there but it didn't do anything for me. It needed like limes or something spicy. I had lunch here with some co-workers. Overall, I wasn't impressed with the food, BUT the service was very good and it was cheap ($7 w/ tip). Chips & Salsa - Salsa was okay, but the chips tasted stale. Amuse bouche - Consisted of a large corn chip topped with beans, cheese, sour cream and shredded lettuce. It was probably the best part of my meal (not that it was phenomenal or anything). Sour cream enchiladas - Chicken had a mushy yet chewy texture (I had the distinct feeling that it was microwaved because it was steaming hot while the rest of my dish wasn't). Also the sauce was a bit too thick. Mexican rice - Perhaps the worst I've had anywhere. Tasted like bland boiled uncle bens with frozen veggies. Pinto beans - good, no complaints here. read more

As culinary brunch formulas go, quality tends to decline exponentially as value increases - like the left side of an inverted bell curve. Amigo's is a glaring exception. My wife's $9.99 fajitas were the best she has ever tasted ... and she's picky. With four tortillas stuffed, there was still plenty of beef left on the platter, and this was well prepared quality skirt. The platter arrives with the usual accompaniments including guacamole at no extra charge. My Bob's Enchiladas ($7.99) were also great. Two over-easy eggs lazing over two chicken enchilada's that were swimming in this insane tasting chipotle (cream?) sauce - yes insane I tell you, insane. Came with beans and rice. I requested borracho beans - you should too. The chips are crisp, warm and tasty. The red salsa is worthy of immense praise and accolades. Originally I was going to give them 4 stars which in my opinion, is still really good, but i got 25% off for checking in here with Yelp so one more star for that! The deal says 25% off for up to two people per check-in per table, but our waiter gave us 25% for our table of 3 (don't worry, we tipped on the full amount before discount). My favorite thing here to get is the Brisket Enchilladas. It comes with 4 mashed potato stuffed enchiladas with brisket, onions, and mushrooms on top with this delicious poblano cream sauce. The Parrillada is also a great one to share with 2 or 4 people. It's basically like fajitas with a large assortment of meats. If you order anything with shrimp, you wont be disappointed because they use large shrimp that are grilled to perfection. With that said, the Seafood Enchilladas with the shrimp is another one of my favorites. There's plenty of seating, the staff is great, and the food is excellent. I would definitely recommend this place for some delicious Tex-Mex. read more

I went to this place with a group of friends for happy hour--the majority of us for the 1st time. It was amazing. The margaritas were awesome--just strong enough. I had the Camarones Diablo and my friends ordered the Chalupa plate. We all enjoyed our food. The service was above par and the place was clean. I enjoyed everything so much that I went back 2 days later with 1 of the friends for lunch. I ordered the exact same thing cause it was mmm, mmm good. By the way, the shrimp was not fishy tasting which means that it was not OLD. A lot of restaurants will serve fishy tasting (OLD) shrimp. Amigo's Comida Casera is tucked away in a slightly run-down strip mall in Richardson, a northeastern DFW suburb. Things started off well with two things: The waiters constantly refill the salsa - excellent. They also bring you an amuse bouche - impressive for a hole-in-the-wall. Tasty, to boot. Queso is made with white cheese and slow roasted peppers, spinach and carrots. The flavor is a nice, mild spice. Enchilada verde are topped with a very fresh tasting tomatillo sauce and come filled with finely shredded tender chicken. Guiso is one of the house specialties. The tender slow roasted pork is complemented by a broth of spicy serrano pepper. For dessert - yes, our waiter convinced us to go for dessert - we had "The Best Flan in Richardson." Our waiter explained that the flan, which looked like cheesecake, was flan Napolitano. Whatever it was, it was delicious. We also had to have a sopapilla. Also delicious. All in all - delicious. I suppose you could probably tell that we liked it by the sheer amount of food that we ate. It's the type of restaurant that we could go and have anything off of the menu and be happy. So I guess that means we'll be back. And that we like it. And that we've finally found a hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant in town with amazing food, great service and unbelievable prices. read more

There are not enough good things I could say about this place. My family and I go there weekly (at least). The high quality of the food (and of course drinks) is consistent without question, the service is impeccable, and every single employee goes out of their way to make sure the experience you have is top notch (even if you just pop in for their amazing happy hour). Lupe is the sweetest and always asks how our family is, Jose makes the BEST drinks and always goes out of his way to say hi, Fernando is very attentive and always makes sure we have everything we need at any moment, Edwin never fails to come say hello with a smile and is always making sure we are ok, and Claudia is probably one of the best servers I've ever had. We live in Richardson and amongst ALL of the Mexican restaurant options we have close to us (Frankie's, Pappasitos, Holy Frijoles, etc.), this is the spot we have and will ALWAYS choose. Love the people, love the atmosphere, love the food, love the drinks. I would point out certain food recommendations, but that would include anything I've ever eaten there, so this review would be WAY too long. Grateful to have this place down the road. I bought a home in Richardson just three weeks ago and this is just up the street. I have been wanting to try it and when my son called and ask if he could take me to lunch I picked here. Went here for dinner last night with some friends. I really like their chips, they are sturdy and crisp. The salsa containers are tiny though, like maybe 3oz, not sure what's up with that. We started with the Large Queso $5.25. It is a white queso and has great flavor. The only issue I have is that it is soupy/runny. I had the Ribeye Fajitas $17.99 which were great, very tender and juicy. The flour tortillas are some of the best I have ever had. The rice was flavorful but the beans were just okay. I was looking for texmex and found this place. So glad I did. They are located in a skummy little plaza so dont let the outside fool you. The staff here are all friendly and prompt. They were very attentive to details and refills. Once you are seated they bring you chips and salsa. Their house salsa is homemade and spicy and refreshing that it isnt over powered with celentro. I ordered brisket tacos and was glad I did. It was excelent. It being new years the manager was walking around offering champagne toasts for free. What a nice touch. Metallic Pot Scrubber Pieces/Wires in Food ! I went to Amigos on 12/12/17 for lunch with my colleagues and had the worst experience ever. We ordered lunch entrees and while we waited for our food, they served us tostadas. I had almost finished eating the tostada when I noticed that I could feel something metallic in my mouth as I tried to chew on it. I spit it out and was shocked to see multiple pieces/wires in the tostada! There could have been more scrubber pieces in it that I might not have noticed and eaten accidentally. Best Mexican restaurant I've been to in DFW so far, hands down (and I've been to a few). They even have a fanned patio to eat on if summer isn't too killer. I ordered the Agustin Dinner Plate and 2 margaritas with an extra shot and I couldn't have been more happy! The food is fantastic and all, but the lady who took my order over the phone and gave it to me when I arrived was THE SWEETEST. They made me feel like a VIP guest even though I ordered to go. Went there for a happy hour and dinner with some friends because we wanted a change from Frankies-where we usually go. They're owned by the same family and have $3 margaritas til 6:00. At about 10 til 6 we were looking for our waitress to order one more but she was no where to be found-however we flagged her down at 5:58 but she refused to honor the happy hour price even though we showed her the time.
