We met some family on a Saturday for lunch. We came for the queso and boy, did Amigos deliver! Until 3pm on Saturdays their serve their "brunch" menu which includes some classic breakfast items, some Mexican breakfast items (Migas, Huevos Rancheros, etc), and then most of the standard Mexican dishes you'd expect to see on the menu. We ordered 2 large quesos for our table of 8 and were so pleased to finally find queso blanco in Texas! If you've only ever had queso that looks orange, you are truly missing out. The queso at Amigos was just what we were looking for...delicious! Also until 3pm on Saturdays, is happy hour! Margaritas were only $3! I ordered a frozen margarita to celebrate my birthday, they came to the table quickly and were very frozen indeed - the outside of my glass got nice and frosty. And for those moments, the world was the way it should be. Our food was great- I had the nachos which are served individually prepared. Total of 6-8 large chips on the plate. I love the individual prep nachos and was very happy with my selection. My husband had the soft pork tacos and enjoyed them as well. The total tab for our table of 8, including at least 8 margaritas, two large quesos, and 8 entrees was only $100! It was amazing!! I have tried Amigos twice in the past month. So far, the food, margaritas & service are not consistent. My first visit to Amigos was about 3 weeks ago. I suggested Amigos to co-workers for happy hour after reading the positive reviews. Everyone left Amigos knowing not to trust my happy hour suggestions. One of my co-workers was greeted by the waitress as soon as she sat down for her drink order. Not having a chance to look over the menu, she asked the waitress what flavored margaritas were offered. The waitress flipped over my co-worker's menu and stated, "here's the menu and it list the types of margarita". This was a start to a wonderful evening to say the least. After a few sly remarks by the waitress, my co-worker finally told her to tone down the attitude. There were two dishes sent back by a co-worker...a tamale & bowl of chorizo queso. The tamale was too hard (too much masa I overheard) and the queso was too salty. I ordered my usual augustin special and was pleased. My margarita was below average as it lacked flavoring. Today's visit was the exact opposite...the margarita (another flavor) was very good but the augustin special was a letdown. My husband said he's had better beef enchiladas elsewhere. To make matters worse, the 25% check-in offer was not accepted. The manager began explaining he's seen discounts for teachers & emergency workers but never the Yelp check-in offer. I will admit, our waitress was much better than the waitress my first visit. My husband also mentioned the men's restroom was nasty. We will forgo Amigos and stick to our usual places. read more

We came here on Thursday night with a few of our friends. We made sure to come a little early for happy hour. The drink specials were great with $3 well drinks and $4 margaritas. Our server was friendly and fairly attentive. I ordered the chicken fajita soft tacos with just rice. Delicious! I loved the seasoning on the chicken, but I wish it would have come with some type of cheese. I also ordered two strawberry mango frozen margaritas with sugar. These were delicious, too. I was charged an extra $1 for the extra flavor making the margaritas $5. This is still a great deal but I wish they would have told me it was an upcharge. The wife and I went here for lunch. We had never been here before and probably drove by it a hundred times but never really saw it before. The interior is immediately attractive and cozy. There is outside seating for when the weather is nice. I was impressed by how full it was for lunch. The location is residential so I did not expect such a full house. The wife ordered the amigos enchiladas which came with ground beef and covered in mole sauce ($6.50). The mole sauce had some heat but I thought it lacked depth of flavor. But they were good. Her margarita was strong and tasty ($4.75). I ordered the carne asada ($12.99). It was good but appeared not to be grilled since there was no char. It was more braised or something. It could use more flavor (salt) or a marinade for me to order it again. The accompanying sides (pico, rice, beans, white corn tortillas) were good. I appreciated that they had Negra Modelo on tap ($3). Our server was very attentive and friendly. The main attraction I think are the prices. They have some of the lowest prices for Tex-Mex I have seen in the Dallas area with good quality product. I can't say this is our new favorite place but we will return for a tasty, satisfying lunch. read more

I have been coming here off and on over the last few years. The food and drink are always great. If you like mole' this is the place for you! I also want to commend one of the servers, Sindy. As I mentioned to the manager, most times when a server asks you "is there anything else I can get you", you know that they really don't want to get anything else. Not Sindy! We came to this place based on the reviews. I ordered the fajita chicken nachos which was ok lots of cheese if you like and my spouse got the chicken fajitas came with all the fixings except cheese everything on her plate was well seasoned including the grilled veggies. Their guacamole is omg delicious. The margaritas were over rated or we should've gotten them on the rocks because the frozen ones weren't really the best. Tasted more wine based than anything but had an ok taste. Overall I'd come back to try the other things on the menu. Also on the menu listed the chips and salsa us free for the 1st round anything after is $2.50!!!! So just a heads up everyone read more

We had dinner here for the first time and enjoyed it. The service was awesome and the food came out fast and hot. We will definitely be back to try the other dishes We came back for dinner again and sadly we will not return. I ordered the beef nachos again, however this time the beef was totally different. This time they gave me precooked, prepackaged beef, cmon they can't fool me. And then to top it off, one of the workers argued with me when I brought it up to their attention. Food is pretty good but I feel like they stole from me. My 9 year old son ordered a kids quesadilla. The waitress asked what side and he said fries. They brought him an adult quesadilla with no fries. I told her that he didn't get his fries and that he ordered a kids meal. She asked if that was ok and I said yes just bring him fries. Apparently that was me agreeing to the $10 extra adult charge PLUS a charge for a side of fries. They said when I got my check I should have returned the full size after he had taken a bite and waited for a kids portion. Their solution was to throw away their mistake and make my son sit with no food for their mistake. Ok but maybe you should have told me that. They would not adjust the charge. read more

This was my first dinner experience since the pandemic started, very pleased! Went on Sunday, early evening and enjoyed it very much. Fresh fajitas, enchiladas were great and hot. We also got the brisket queso, the very best in DFW area. The waiter was very attentive and came back to check on us and refilled our drinks continuously. Lots of space from others, over 6 feet. Loved our experience here. Amigos is always consistent and it's always consistently amazing. Went with the wife for a dinner date, I don't know if they had new kitchen crew, but we both ordered enchiladas and they came out slightly raw. They didn't cook the tortilla and it was gummy. The cheese was unmelted and it was bland. Frankies is way better. We won't make that mistake again. read more

Holy Margaritas! We stopped by right before happy hour ended and order a round of margaritas. They were so good and were just what we all needed after a long week of work and travel. I went with the regular margarita on the rocks while my friends opted for peach and mango which they couldn't stop raving about. They were either that good or the tequila was talking. We all ordered food which was delicious. I was so happy they were able to accommodate for a food allergy and make my enchiladas with flour tortillas, I been to other restaurants who haven't been willing to swap out the corn for flour. This was a bit disheartening from the outside but the food was absolutely delicious. The server was really nice and informed. The owner came over and made our trip extra special resolving concerns one of my compatriots had. The meat from the beef fajitas was amazing. It was like a log and per lump of beef. It had some lime seasoning that I've never had before. Fire!! They have a salmon taco that looked more like a burrito but was huge. I'm out of time for this review. Y'all will just have to go. This is a nice place to eat. I was invited here by a group of friends for lunch. One lives nearby and this is her regular joint. Apparently they have "the best margaritas ". The service was fine. The chips and salsa were fine. The salsa was fresh and kind of tangy. My chicken fajitas where tasty and came in the usual way..hot skillet with lots of perfectly cooked onion and peppers and a side of rice, beans, guacamole, pico, sour cream. My friend who is the regular orders salmon enchiladas that had shrimp on top every time. That dish must be something special. It looked really good. Breakfast items are on the menu. Who doesnt love to have breakfast for lunch sometime? I know I do. I'd be happy come back here for a meal with friends. We had about 16 in our party and they served us well. read more

Been eating here for years service & food have always been good. Last week took a group and the food was still good but service was horrible. Waitress had no training what so ever. Disappointed in the restaurant not providing any training. Even ordered a beer and she asked "Lager?" Yep that particular beer was a Lager, what she really wanted to know was bottle or draft. I liove their food. It has been consistently good for years. While all their dishes are good, I am addicted to their French fries (I know, not traditional) and flan which is just about the best I've ever had. I recommend their brunch, too. Recently, I've come to Amigo's once per week or so. I've enjoyed several dishes, but tonight was yet another surprise as to how good this (and its brethren Frankies) place is. Carne Asada. Sooo fantastic. The grilled veggies on top of the Veggie Enchiladas (cheese) are great, too. Salsa tastes great (with a tad bit of spice). Fajitas are consistently good, too. Although my general preference is steak, the chicken has won my heart, lately! Great standard set. Local place, congenial and attentive staff, great & consistent food. I have been coming here with different districts and schools in my years as an educator to private events in their private room. We reserved for 50-60 people for our holiday party. In the past this means that we have the private room to ourselves and the food is set up buffet style so that the staff can serve themselves as they wish. We have also had the stage available for karaoke and to announce door prizes for our staff. This year the private room is no longer private. We were told to sit down numerous times because they wanted to keep up with our drink orders...well we asked if we could order at the bar and they said we had to order from the waitress....if we ordered at the bar, we had to close out each time. It was a holiday party where people mingle but were not allowed to do that. Of course the staff mingled anyway because it was hard to have everyone stay seated. We only had 40 seats available even though the party was for 50-60 people so even if we wanted to sit, there were not enough seats. Our staff did not know that a table nearby was reserved for a different party in the same room and sat down. The owner came and began telling them to stand up. I was in awe of this because usually you would try to rectify the situation and allow the customers to be happy. He eventually let them sit but that is because we had to let him know that we did not have the number of chairs promised. The food was brought out family style as an appetizer and made it difficult for people to really enjoy. The worst part is we had reserved for 6pm and when we asked about the seats promised the owner said to me "where is everyone, no one is here". Extremely sarcastic and condescending. The staff did not arrive till about 6:30 but at a holiday party you are not keeping tabs on people arriving late. Did not matter because there were not enough seats at 6pm or at 6:30pm or at 7pm. However the reservation was til 10, so not sure why it mattered if our staff had not arrived yet. The treatment we received was unacceptable from a customer service point of view. Our staff will not be back and I am spreading the word about this to all of the districts and schools I have close contact with. If you need a venue for a holiday party do not book this place. Makes me sad as I have been coming here for years. Some people's arrogance and ego seems to be more important than giving customers good service these days. read more

Good, strong margaritas! Staff is super friendly and some even funny. We had the chicken fajitas and carne asada, both pretty good but nothing really special. The chicken fajitas had more onions than anything - would definitely recommend the restaurant add a couple more ounces of chicken. We also had the guacamole as a starter. It was disappointing - $6 for a very small serving and it looked/tasted like it only contained avocados, no salt, onions or anything. There were 3 small scoops that were placed on chips, served with a little pico de gallo. My husband ordered the tres de leches cake though and loved it. read more
