I gave it five stars at first but then realized that I haven't even had everything on the menu yet! Lol. I like coming here fall/winter time cause my favorite is their tom ka soup, oh my I just drooled on my phone! The chef is extremely pleasant and so far what I have tried have all been good. The only problem I have is the lighting. It is wayyyy to dark in there, like pull out your flashlight to see what your eating dark... ok not that dark but it needs more light especially during the day, the windows are tinted so if they are counting with natural lighting for the day it is not working. Amina Thai is conveniently situated on Hillside avenue. I've been here numerous times. The first time I came, the food service and quality was great! The food came quickly and despite a smaller portion than I am used to for Thai food, it was still great. The more I started to come, I realized it wasn't all that. The waitresses were not as friendly. The water started to taste strange. I tried the lunch special for $8 and the soup was not the best. The spring rolls still tasted great. I had great experience in amina thai. Me and my group of friends went there for dinner and the service was amazing,And to top it off, so was the food. It was smart for them to open up a Halal Thai place in this area because you literally cannot find any other Thai food closeby. The atmosphere is nice, a nice sit down restaurant. I've been here a handful of times and they have decent food! I eat a lot of Thai food, so when I compare it to other Thai food, it's not the best. But it's still decent! I think it's a nice place to go to once in a while. I always go for the flat noodles, so I recommend that! read more

Since I moved, was looking for a nice Thai spot close to my new apartment. I've eaten from here 3 times before but forgot to write a review. It's a nice little spot on Hillside Ave. near Homelawn St. although the parking is bad, it's easy to spot. The wait staff could be friendlier but one of the cooks who is also the owner is very nice and personable. Food portions could be better but I guess that's why the US is so big as a whole, lol. At any rate, the food is pretty good. I always order the curry puffs and/or Thai spring rolls for an appetizer. Either the pad Thai or Pad Kee Mao (drunk man noodles) which is decently spicy. This past visit I had just that, the curry puffs, pad kee mao, Thai iced tea. My friend had the Bangkok street noodles and the fried calamari. We each had dessert; I had the fresh mango which coconut sticky rice and she had the fried ice cream. Prices are good and the food is tasty. Nice spot in my new neighborhood. Unfortunately they don't deliver but it is what it is. Will come again. read more

Extremely disappointed! We ordered several dishes for takeout with the total order over $100. I live nearly 40 minutes away but willing to drive for a full halal menu. Unfortunately, unpacking the food at home came as a shock. The containers were less than half full. Not one single item was sufficient for a full serving. My basil beef had just 4 thin slices of meat. Everyone else's order was just as measly. It is sad that a business like this takes advantage of the halal-eaters. The meats may be halal but their business ethics are not very halal. I feel cheated and I will not be ordering from these cheapskates again. read more

Would give them 0 starts if I could. I live 10 blocks away, yet they take an hour and 45 minutes to deliver my food. I believe this place is not authentic Thai food, it's Chinese food masquerading as Thai. The curries are very watery, and lack flavor. I wanted to go in and sit down to eat around 2 pm but no parking anywhere. Very congested location right next to subway exits. the restaurant was very clean and the woman who took my order was very pleasant. There was only one other person waiting for take out when I went in to pick up my order. I ordered two Thai rice, two bang bang shrimp, two vegetable tempura-and one pad Thai noodles with peanut sauce. I asked for eggs on top of the tai rice and instead I got plain rice. I asked for chicken in the pad Thai noodles and peanut sauce on the side, and got plain pad Thai noodles with no peanut sauce.The shrimp was excellent. The tempura was not battered and fried all the way so veggies were hard and oily with little crunch. I've had tempura before and usually the batter holds the veggies together. There veggies were each fried separately. The food was bland no flavor. The cost for this all veggie meal came to $57. I wanted to go back to try the fried ice cream but my meal was so expensive to be so disappointing I will not be going back. read more

Being another HALAL spot in queens, I had to check it out. I read the reviews on yelp, and had to try it out for myself before I could judge and most reviews here are on point. - Lollipop chicken - Nothing spectacular. It is good but not the best I have had. - Quantity - For the price you are paying, they do NOT give enough quantity. I had an app and entree and I left still hungry. - Price wise, It should not be this expensive. The food is good, not great... quantity little, not enough... and for all that, you are still paying above average than other stores in the area. - The staff was friendly in my opinion. Took good care of us and repeatedly came back to check up on us. We did have to wait a few minutes to order as everyone was in the back cooking and no staff was in the main room. All in all, If you want to shell out a few more bucks for food that is nothing different than the other thai/ chinese restaurant you probably have been too, then go. It is not the fanciest place, but I did not expect it to be as comfortable as it was, given that it is in Jamaica, Queens on Hillside Ave. We have eaten there twice, and both times, zero complaints. During the week, service was solid. On a Friday night, service was solid. Food was very tasty and fresh. The Thai iced tea was a great after dinner drink. Nice presentation with swing-top glass bottles for water. I think the owners are the servers, and their hospitality was matched by their efficiency. My first order was surprisingly good from Amina! It was so good that i ordered lunch the following day. The 2 dishes i really like are beef pagnang and beef basil fried rice. I finally ordered my third order yesterday evening for dinner. I requested it to be thai spicy. Unfortunately my food was not even spicy!!! But my number one compliant about all the dishes i have ordered the meat amount is not enough for the cost of the dishes and the beef is not even soft. They charge way too much for the amount of food they're giving you. The food is good but it doesn't even fill you up. You're better off going to a halal cart nearby and getting a chicken over rice for 6 bucks at least that's way better value for your money & tummy. And that fact that they only accept cash now (used to accept card) is such an inconvenience. I love the food they have here! The prices are quite reasonable and I usually order the lunch special which is very affordable. I get the spring rolls and spicy basil fried rice with shrimp. It's my go to dish and it's very flavorful. My only complaint is that once when I ordered from here, I was supposed to receive 2 orders of spring rolls but I only received one. The service was bad. I understand that they are a little under staffed but at least give us water and offer us drinks. We waited an hour for our food. My brother didn't even get water until they got us our appetizers. We got an avocado salad that only had 5 slices of avocado. We came in at 7:42 got our appetizers at 8:25. Absolutely the worst customer service. I constantly order from Amina Thai so this is just disappointing. I ordered a SMALL Vegetable Thai Soup and a Spicy Tom Yum Chicken Fried Rice over the phone. I asked for a small because whenever I order a large, it goes to waste and I have to throw it out. So when I went to go pick it up and paid, I saw that there was a large soup. When I told the cashier/hostess that I ordered a small, she quickly said that I ordered a large which I know I didn't because I specially needed a small today. I asked her to switch out the soup to a small and to credit my account for a small ($5) instead of a large ($9). Another male waiter then came out and started screaming saying I ordered a large and started banging the counter table. He began screaming in his native language, which I'm pretty sure he was cursing at me (SO DISRESPECTFUL). He asked me why does the system say large? It's not my fault that the person taking the order entered it as large. Then another hostess came out and asked me what the situation was and I explained everything to her. The other hostess that I initially spoke to then said that she "heard" a large on the phone so she charged me for a large. I told her that I just need a small and she can put the soup in small container. She went to the kitchen and packed the soup in a small container which apparently takes a few minutes. All this to get a small soup? No thank you Amina Thai. You just lost a customer. read more
