Amphora is amazing! We have been struggling to find great food since moving here from Boston, and you can only eat at Tuscan Kitchen so many times. We were pleasantly surprised when we found Amphora. You would never think a venue in a strip mall would be this good, but it is. I have never really tried greek food, but everything they served was amazing. The greek salad, the kabobs, the fish - everything is so yummy! Interestingly, the kids grilled cheese was so good, we now order one for an appetizer every time we go. I ate here on 9/23/11 with a very tenacious and entertaining Greek man who took me here for dinner...I know nothing about Greek cuisine other than if it tastes as good as the food does here that I want more of it! We started out with the Tzatziki (so wonderful I HAD to get the extra we didn't finish to go) and Melitzanosalata (additionally excellent). I forget the wine he had ordered but it failed to disappoint also. For our entree we split the Souvlaki and then finished off our amazing meal with a MIND-BLOWING baklava cheesecake and coffee. The food was delicious and the staff was even more enjoyable: the owner personally came to chat with us and was very genuine, sincere, and accomodating. My boyfriend and I have been here several times and will keep coming back. The service that they have is so wonderful. The servers always have a smile on which, to me, says a LOT about the restaurant. I have never had anything that I didn't like. I absolutely LOVE their salad dressing. Their pita bread is to die for as is their baklava cheesecake. Hmm what else.. their fried feta is unreal. I loved their wine selection. I have also ordered their Thracian Chicken and it was phenomenal.. on top of some rice (very good). Now I've gone and made myself hungry again. Amphora is my go to for salads. Their antipasto salad is amazing, I've gotten it a number of times. Their meats often come out a bit over cooked, but the environment and salad portions keeps me coming back. Also the baklava cheesecake is unreal. read more

I work in Derry at a salon down the street and the amount of times that majority of our staff orders from there is insane. They all love it and with good reason. They are consistent, the staff is great and the food is fresh and delicious. The lunch menu is great and portion sizes are as well. One night after work I didn't feel like cooking so I called my boyfriend, at the time (who WAS vegan) and I told him I was going to get food here. He asked what he could eat and I told him I'd get him the veggie kabobs and he didn't sound that thrilled but funny enough I brought it home and he was like "Wow, I was expected it to be just bland, soggy vegetables like most places." They are also helpful when it comes to making food for people with allergies as well as vegans and vegetarians. Good addition to Derry! read more

The food here is good, but the service is absurd. The hostess sat us, and gave us menus (which are just printed take-out menus) and had to come back 10 minutes later to take our drink orders as we had not been served yet. It took another ten minutes for the one waitress in the place to take our lunch order. There are maybe 15 tables in the space, and we noticed the waitress struggled to triage her tables, including going back to other tables twice before even checking in on us once. This was very mixed. Some of the food was excellent. However they put black pepper in everything including the avogolemuna soup and the saginaki. It totally overwhelmed the cheese flavor. The spanikopita was excellent. The main dishes were excellent, the souvlaki was great. Get the potatoes instead of the rice pilaf. Went for the first time tonight. We were a family of 5, had to wait about 25 minutes for a table. Did not realise the place was so small. But it was well worth it. The food was excellent and everyone loved their meals. The wait staff was attentive and very happy to greet you. Owner/manager stopped at each table and seemed very happy that we were so happy. Had Calamari and spanakopita for apps. Both were outstanding. Calamari was done tempura style, perfectly tender not greasy at all. The spanakopita made my homemade version (which the family loves) seem real mediocre in comparison. Theirs was light crispy and so creamy, the best I've ever had. Delicious Greek salad accompanies most meals.My teens ordered lamb souvlaki, SO had souvlaki and shrimp they raved about the tenderness of the meat and the wonderful pilaf., the youngster ate Greek mac and cheese, I had excellent moukassa. Brought home pastries for later. Excellent cannot wait to go back, will use call ahead seating next time. read more

Hidden gem! My wife and I decided we wanted Greek, searched Yelp and Amphora showed up as top rated. Now I know why - amazing! My wife has been to Greece and she said it was like going back... The most amazing and authentic greek food I've ever had. Always get the thracian chicken with rice pilaf and feta fries. The salad is awesome and fresh always! They use antibiotic free meats. Preface - I am basing this off of take out... so I gave it 5 stars... I did eat in the restaurant a couple times and had no problems except a bit slow on the service even if it didn't seem busy. The food is a refreshing taste of something new to liven up Derry. I loved Greece when I was there... surprised that I had never tried Greek food!!!! and then I did when I got home. This place, though not perfectly the same, still good enough to calm my cravings. I would order the Fried Feta app and a salad a lot... but I tried the souvlaki plate also... all quite good. Greek Salad An entrée-sized version of our house salad with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, feta cheese, and Kalamata olives 6.95 All salads come with Amphora's Original Dressing Additional proteins priced a la carte: Add: Chicken 2.50, Shrimp 4.75, or Marinated Steak Tips 4.50 No where does it say after you add one a la carte protein the other is the price of a sandwich minus $1 (which is what I was told when I questioned the price of my almost $19 salad! Had dinner at Amphora. We ordered skewers of pork and an interesting haddock dish wrapped in filo dough. Everything was good. My only complaint was that I asked for potatoes rather than rice and was up-charged for the pots. Never was told it would be extra. It was only $1.50 but what is the difference between rice and potato? You can go to the "99" and change anything and not be charged. It is just not good business. read more
