We had been going going to the Lake Mary location when it opened for years since moving to Jacksonville due to the heavy traffic and additional distance to the Sand Lake location. We stopped going to the Lake Mary location this past February 2018 when the $13+ Sushi Rolls were now the same size you could find at your local Publix store. We happen to be shopping at the Outlets off International on June 8th and decided to go back to our old stomping grounds to the Amura Sand Lake location, we were so happy to see that their Sushi Rolls remained as LARGE they used to be...we now plan to drive the additional distance/traffic to the Sand Lake location. read more

Now given the current circumstances, I try not to be so harsh but this is more aimed at the food over the service. Went in for lunch and ordered 3 rolls, fast to come out however that's when then good stops. First piece I ate seemed off and the after taste hit me. It tasted like how a barn smells, letting me know the fish had turned. Assuming they are trying save money by stretching every dollar but when it comes to fish especially sushi, that's a place you don't skip. Needless to say I was done after one and asked for the check. I informed them and the only one that seemed to care was the waitress, not the manager or more shocking the chef. That lets me know they don't care and for a restaurant to be that way it's utterly appalling. After that experience I won't be returning. read more

This place has some really rude and unfriendly greeters. I saw this go on while waiting on my To Go order with delivery services coming in to pick up orders and when I asked one of them "if my soup was in the bag" the greeter answered first with "I didn't package your order" before she caught herself. They need to be trained on how to treat people or find a job that doesn't involve working with people. It's sad to say but this place has been on the decline for years and thought I would give them a try but it won't be a place that I recommend to anyone or visit again. P.S. In the rotation: not heavily though, because it is quite expensive. We have never had a bad meal here and have eaten here for over 10 years. The food is very consistent, as in consistently the best sushi/sashimi in Central FL...at least this location. I haven't had great success at the Downtown and DP locations, but Heathrow is always very good. The service is hit or miss: the owner is very demanding and so we never see the same server twice because they don't seem to last very long. read more

I would give this dump 0 stars if i could. Service was horrendous, and food was as well. Ordered a filet and received an unknown cut of meat that moderately resembled a skirt steak. As for the sushi, it would have been better suited for a cat. Not sure what kind of meat I consumed, but was definitely NOT tuna. It was like someone put fish guts through a meat grinder. Ho ley crap This was genuinely one of the worst 10 meals of my life. The service was fine, but by god was the sushi disgusting. I should have known when I was served a cup of salty broth with 2 steamed dumplings in it that I should have left; but I stupidly stayed. I, like many here, am traveling for work and stuck with local choices craving sushi. My craving for fresh fish got the best of me and I defied my coworkers warnings to journey to this god forsaken place. I have many regrets. The sushi was genuinely terrible. The rice is sugary sweet; the tempura roll almost broke a tooth -- no lie! The "real" California roll tasted like avocado on marzipan in rice pudding. And the disgusting monstrosity that was supposed to be a lobster roll wound up being a crawfish roll with onions in it. The crawfish were gnarled up and shriveled and so rubbery. Considering I thought I was getting real lobster it was a disgusting thing to learn what I was eating. I will never ever be back here. God help everyone who eats here. The service was friendly, but helpless. When my waiter realized I hated my food he kinda just avoided the elephant in the room because it seems like this may be a normal catfishing of sushi-craving folk. Menu states 6 or 8 rolls. Order placed never once asked how many. When order came out 6 very disappointing rolls were served. The person preparing suchi clearly did not know how yo do it. After the 6 my son wanted 8 rolls. The server stated. "Ugh for 8 rolls we will need to cut the rolls very thin" when we were served the 8 they looked paper thin. Please see picture below. I love sushi and heard this was the best place in the area to get sushi. Boy was I excited to come here! This place gets busy! I mean really busy and thus very loud. We had to wait a bit for a table but were taken care of quickly once seated. They had a good selection of sake and a full bar. They have a huge list of maki rolls to choose from. It was really hard for me to decide what I wanted to get. The one thing I did not like about their list is that there was a disclaimer that there could be more ingredients than was listed on the rolls. How do you really know what you are getting!? I opted for the Beauty and the Beast and the Tango Mango. The rolls were very fresh! However, I felt they were lacking flavor. I guess I am used to rolls that have some kick or excitement to them. I got sick of the Beauty and the Beast roll but finished off the Tango Mango roll. I had my first date with my wife here almost 10 years ago. The sushi is still the same good quality. The service is also the same consistent and friendly staff. Some items on the menu have changed, but the one thing that needs to change or get updated is the interior decorating of the restaurant. After 10 years the same decor is starting to look very dated. Dinner tonight was beautifully prepared and plated. I had shrimp and scallops with rice and green beans. I also had two martini variations on lemon drops. We finished with an incredibly rich chocolate cake. The service was good and the food was tasty. My only issue is it is quite expensive. Dinner, two martinis, and a piece of cake, plus tip, was $77. Hungry for Sushi, drinks or Japanese food during the evening? Amura is a great get together or gatherer of friends and family. I've been here many times to celebrate birthdays or just to hang out. Many of my friends prefer to drink at other places but the ambience along with the service is great and the sushi is good also. Our evening started with a few appetizers. I enjoyed my seaweed salad which tasted well but I was expecting more for the price of $6.50. We also ordered about 6 sushi rolls for $8.99 each and called it a day. The service was great, the sushi was good but not my favorite. The prices are slightly steep compared to their competitors in the area. What I enjoy the most about this place was the service and the ambience and of course the company that we enjoyed it with. read more

From all the Amura location, I enjoyed this one the most. I have tried their Dr. Phillips and Downtown locations and felt they were a bit plain. This location made me change my mind about this chain. I ordered two sushi: Bubba and Volcano rolls. Both were so so delicious. I went during lunch time so the crowd was very light. NO CRAB CAKES! Amura is located in a very busy area with many adjacent restaurants. Parking is very limited so plan on arriving early in order to find parking. There was no wait for seating as they have many booths and tables. We were offered drinks as soon as we arrived and within 15 minutes our meals arrived, unfortunately they no longer serve crab cakes, my ladies favorite, so had to settle for crab Rangoon which reportedly was very good! Man!....jonesing for some Amuras Sushi tonight so we ordered takeout. We used DoorDash from their website. It was ready and waiting within 20 minutes of our order. The Spider roll, Ginger salad, Crystal Bubba Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, and the salmon roe all hit the spot...even in the comfort of our own home. They have a good pick up path set up to maintain social distancing and based on the number of orders I saw racked up are doing a great business in spite of the environment right now. This place has beauuuuutiful decor and it's a cute sushi bar and grill. The boyfriend and I were craving sushi and decided to get an order to go. I had never been here prior to but I suppose he had. So we make our order at around 715pm. The place was fairly empty for it being 7pm. So we hung out at the sushi bar sipping on soda waiting for our order of FOUR ROLLS to show up. And we wait. And we wait some more. And... oop, we're still waiting. After about an hour the boyfriend goes to complain. They assure us that our food is coming right up and they had to handle a bigger party first --- but everyone who was seated around us both on the floor and at the bar were served before us! After another ten minutes, the boyfriend suggests we just walk out (keep in mind no one has checked on us or anything the whole hour and fifteen minutes we were sitting there) until we were stopped by a manager who once again assured us our food was on its way. After about another HALF HOUR they FINALLY get our food to us. Of course we're pissed at this point because not only did they serve everyone else around us, not only did we wait over an hour and a half for a to go order of four rolls but we weren't comped for our way too long of a wait. Regardless of the fact that the food was pretty decent; the management and wait staff were not impressive. I refuse to drop that much money on sushi again knowing the service will suck. Oral Fixation Martini... Be careful, they go down like juice. SOO GOOD! Not even joking. Almost as dangerous as Sweet Tea Vodka ;o) I know there are a few Amuras across town but this may be my favorite location. It's a toss up between here and Sandlake Rd. This is actually the first place I have ever eaten sushi so it has sentimental value to me =) I have been going here for 4 years and can't seem to get enough. Rolls Royce - omg, if I could only have one roll for the rest of my life, this would be it. I don't understand why they don't serve it at other locations. SO many flavors, a little spicy to me but the sweetness offsets it and I enjoy it thoroughly. I don't even know what is in it and I can finish off the whole roll. The volcano roll is phenomenal too. Wish it didn't have cream cheese but I just avoid that part. I used to be very non-adventurous with sushi but I am glad that I have ventured out and this is such a great place to do that. They have this peanut butter ball roll thing. Don't take my word on that... maybe it's chocolate mousse ball?
