What a beautiful place. It's like stepping into southern Italy. So clean and light. The service was excellent, we were checked on just the right amount of times and orders were perfect. It takes a little time to get your food - I state this because real, fresh food takes time to make. And the food is stellar! We had the pomodoro bruschetta and the arancini. Think cut bread, fresh vegetables, just the right amount of garlic and the arancini. Oh my. The sauce should be licked off the bowl it's so good and the crunchy, tastiness of the arancini left everyone at the table wanting more. Two had the shrimp linguini and raved about it. Fresh, homemade linguini and buttery tasting, firm shrimp. The rigatoni was also very good. I had the cheese bowl. What a treat. It's fresh pasta with Italian sausage, mushrooms and then they put these ingredients in the bowl of a cheese wheel. So good, texture, taste, smell - all of it the best. The Carciofi Romana (artichoke antipasto) was perfectly roasted and impeccably seasoned, the eggplant antipasto was hearty, rich and the sauce like straight from nonna's kitchen. We had a delicate pear salad balanced with superb homemade gnocchi. And the cannoli? Madonna mia! Tonight, we went to the new Italian restaurant just off of the 15th and Scripps Poway Parkway. It's called...Amuri. They are a sister restaurant to the very highly rated La Mesa restaurant called Amori. The Scripps Ranch location does not disappoint. The food was absolutely excellent. Housemade pastas... The Bronzino special was spectacular...appetizers excellent as well as desserts. They highlight the cuisine of all of Italy... The risotto from the North, to the pastas of Rome to the specialties of Sicily. All wonderful. They do not make the pastas on site... But both locations share an overnight pasta maker... So the pastas are made fresh while we sleep and then brought to the restaurant in the morning. And getting a fresh made cannoli for dessert was to die for. If I had to nitpick... And have one complaint... The restaurant is in a strip mall and it overlooks the Chevron station. The food deserves to be in a much more upscale setting...it deserves moody lighting, and Italian music... But, given the constraints of their location ... It really is a must go. read more

We tired Amuri for the first time last night. It's always nice to see quality establishments invest in Scripps Ranch. Our sever Nino was excellent, attentive, and helpful. The food was very good; the gnocchi was the star. Excellent texture and great marinara. The dishes we tried reminded me a lot of Italy fresh ingredients not over complicated to showcase the flavor. Only suggestion is lighting is a little bright I like the light and bright colors, kind of an Amalfi feel, but on the back wall I felt a little like I was under a spot light. Scripps Ranch I hope we support this one. It's a good one. I think this is a tough market for restaurants and it takes regular support from the community for them to thrive. I would also say bring patience with you it's hard to operate economically with a large staff so you have to staff appropriately which means when you get large rushes things take a bit longer. The blue and white details, the Amalfi-style wall art, the lemons, the tiled bar, everything is so aesthetically done but still feels warm and inviting. The staff were also really lovely. Super friendly and attentive without being over the top. The food definitely matched the atmosphere. Everything tasted fresh and well made, not overly heavy like some Italian spots can be. The pasta was flavorful and you could tell it wasn't rushed. Even the pizza had that perfect balance, crispy crust but still soft inside. Portions were solid and it felt like proper, comforting Italian food done right. It's definitely one of those spots that's perfect for a cute dinner, date night, or even a girls' night. Purely by chance we found this wonderful gem on Google! Incredible Sicilian touch to this relatively new Italian restaurant. Their ultra fresh Caprese burrata with balsamic glaze, fresh basil and yellow heirloom tomato slices was absolutely delicious in its culinary simplicity. Their unusual Frittatine Di Pasta - a delicious and unique vegetarian option. Accompanied by a great, fresh red Super Tuscan and my wife's freshly-shaken margarita topped with a roasted slice of lime ... wonderful. Their delicious crusty bread, topped with buttery fresh olive oil ... Their meatballs and polenta were absolutely delicious and freshly made. And then, my all-time favorite - in-house made linguini with steamed vongole bathed in a uniquely delicious fresh garlic wine parsley sauce! Best I've had in San Diego. Food was mediocre extremely salty, over compensating with garlic. Small portion on my dish, linguine and clams, my friends portion which was chicken Parmesan was rather large. Two entrees, 2 glasses of wine was $109.00. They did give us dessert and one cup of coffee on the house. Dessert a lemon filled creme piece of cake was the best part of the evening. I was looking for a good Italian restaurant without having to go downtown to Little Italy from Mira Mesa. Amuri fit the bill and then some. Real Italian food and pasta and sauces. I love the meatballs spaghetti and clam/ shrimp Ravioli. Our waiter took our order in Italian and the menu was in Italian and Nico did a great job translating and suggesting the menu to our desire, even though we're African and Chinese. The decor and lighting were very pleasant and the mural painting on the walls sent a message that we were in an Italian orchard. We were a party of 4 and when the main courses started to arrive the 1 meal was around 15 minutes behind- therefore it was firstly uncomfortable while we were all staring at our hot food waiting for all the last dish to arrive - we waived the waiter down who indicated it was coming - when it eventually did arrive he was unapologetic - 2 of us was halfway through our meals...it just didn't sit nicely and basically ruined our meal. We didn't complain and waited for a response- there was none- our waiters shift ended and we were handed over to another person and when the bill arrived there was no discount, perhaps a free dessert or an apology...we paid we left..capish! read more

I was really excited to try a new neighborhood Italian restaurant but Amuri left me somewhat disappointed. The restaurant had a lovely decor but the gasoline smell wafting inside the restaurant caused by the nearby gas station was concerning and off putting. We had to ask our server to clean our table and seats better as there were food all over the floor and on our seats. For starters we ordered the Arancini, Amuri Pinse, and Beef Carpaccio. The arancini and beef carpaccio were good but the arancini could have been hotter. The Amuri pinse with mozzarella cheese, prosciutto, roasted peach, and burrata sounded amazing but was a huge let down in the taste department as it was cold and didn't seem like it meshed well. The ravioli di pesce was salty and the cherry tomato white cream sauce was a tad sour. The Cioppino had an abundance of seafood in it but the fish soup was really salty and I found myself downing water afterwards. I was also sad they didn't have enough mascarpone left to do the table side tiramisu so we settled for the cannoli which had no flavor and the shell was so hard. read more

We had dinner there yesterday. I have to say they are not ready to serve the large number of guests yet, especially during SD restaurant week. The appetizer was good, my wife and I both enjoyed the taste, just the price tag is at the higher side. My carbonara was okay, rigatoni itself was al dente but flavorless, need to pair with guanciale to taste better. On the other hand, my wife's clam linguine was a disaster - pasta was bland, and the clams were not fresh, obviously shrank because of frozen or quality issue. After reading people rave about the food quality, we came here with high expectations and wow, was that a mistake. This experience really taught me not to blindly trust Yelp on this one. The food itself was extremely overpriced for what it was. The sauces tasted like they came straight out of a can, the beef carpaccio looked like something I've seen at a cruise buffet (and not in a good way), and the pasta didn't feel or taste homemade at all. When the bill came out to almost $400, it was hard to believe. I honestly make better pasta at home. If you're coming just for great service, you might enjoy it. We came for dinner toward the end of the evening and were looking forward to trying someplace new. The restaurant was nearly empty, with only two other tables occupied. I ordered a glass of Chianti, which was very good. We eventually received our complimentary bread after ordering our entrees which was fine. It was fresh and only slightly warm. However, it was a bit odd that it came pre-drizzled with a thin olive oil and herb mix. I'd prefer to add it myself or perhaps not if I'm planning to use it to soak up leftover sauce from another dish. I ordered the four-cheese gnocchi cheese wheel. It was solid and I'd definitely order it again. We finished with a chocolate chip cannoli. The crunch and flavor were there but I'd suggest making them smaller or at least adding chocolate chips on the outside to maintain that crunch-to-filling ratio. Otherwise it felt a bit like a mouthful of mush. The servers were friendly but the service was slow and there were some minor communication issues. The ambiance was okay but the lighting was a bit too bright for a quaint Italian restaurant. It was also a bit awkward asking for cutlery like spoons when they could have been on the table. The prices felt high given that they're comparable to restaurants like Monello and RustiCucina, though I wouldn't place them on the same level in terms of offerings or location. read more

A delightful place! Great service, beautiful interior and table settings, and very delicious food! Our server did an excellent job pairing wines with our meals. I highly recommend Amuri, my wife and I will certainly return. What is especially nice is that it is convenient to our Mira Mesa home via Mercy Rd, for others it is right off I-15, and there is ample parking. Amuri is a restaurant opened by friends who moved from Italy (I believe Sicily) and provides amazing atmosphere and dishes that don't skip on portions and ingredients. Restaurant is large and beautiful, unspectingly located infront of a gas station. I ordered the agnolotti with guanciale (not commonly found in San Diego but a staple in Italian food)!). Hi Amuri, I wanted to share some feedback about our recent visit. We were seated promptly with our reservation, and our server was kind, though it was difficult at times to understand him clearly. We ordered several appetizers, but most were just average, and the mushroom soup and clams were disappointing. Our main courses didn't arrive together, and we had to ask twice for utensils after they were cleared. My dish had well-cooked fish, but the vegetables were overcooked, and the pasta in the cheese wheel wasn't presented. Dessert also took quite a while and arrived overcooked. When the chef came by to check on us, I was not acknowledged, which added to the overall disappointment. I'm sharing this in hopes it helps improve the experience for future guests, as we were excited to try the restaurant. I've been hearing raves about this new restaurant from other restaurant owners. Went for lunch with a friend and was not disappointed. THE best meal I've had in a long time! The ambience: charming with a light touch. The service: excellent. The food: delicious! We shared the arancini appetizer, which was perfectly crisp outside, tender inside and filled with a savory meat mixture. Next was the fettuccini with shrimp in white wine and garlic: lovely, light "sauce" that coated homemade, silky pasta... heavenly! Finished with great espresso. The only negative was the cannoli. The shell was too hard and the filling overly sweet. To be fair, my mother used to make cannoli, shells and all. So, I really can't count this against the restaurant.
