Not very prompt on returning e mails and or phone calls. When something goes wrong they drag their feet. Two out of the three units I have are trashed. They put you off and offer very little help Pretty much just get new units.Sure no problem the units cost as much as a car.Why can't you fix it ? Are they meant to be disposable? Not sure about the quality of equipment they use. The workman ship was fine but the follow through and service is lacking. I had a 15 year old, central AC system. The second floor unit had been leaking Freon for a while. I called AMV for an estimate to replace the unit. Al the owner came out to check out the job. One of my concerns was how would they remove the air handler unit located in the attic. The existing attic access door is too small for that unit. Al looked at the situation and said they should be able to pull the air handler unit thru an existing air return (vent) located directly under the unit. If not, I would have to hire a contractor to open a hole in the ceiling of one of my bedrooms, which would add a lot more costs and time to this project. On 3/10/16 AMV replaced my Central AC unit. Four technicians arrived at 9am. They were all clean cut, friendly and polite. They worked hard. It was not an easy job because of the air handler and changing the coolant from R22 to R410. Just as Al stated they were able to remove the old air handler and install the new air handler thru the air return. By 4pm the job was done. I am very pleased that the job was completed without any problems. Al the owner, really knows his stuff. read more

I called on 7/13/17 to schedule service. I received an appt for 7/24/17 between 8:30 - 9:00 am. Took the day off of work for this appointment and no one shows up. I called AMV @ 9:15 am, no one answered so I left a voicemail. At 5:45 pm, I received a call from AMV, for appt reminder for the next day. I said my appt was for today. She apologized for the miscommunication. I said it was not miscommunication bc the girl said Monday. She said she only does appointment confirmations and knows nothing else, the one who handles appointments had left for the day and will have her call me tomorrow. Came Tuesday, no calls received. Come Wednesday, I received a call @ 9:50 am from the service tech to service my ac. I told him I am at work and don't have an appointment for today! He apologized and said he is just going by what is on his schedule. I understood that and we ended our convo. I don't really want to bash this company bc I understand that human mistakes can be made. I am just frustrated and HOT! :) For future appointments with this company, id be nervous making. But we shall see. read more

I would not recommend this company. I had them come out to service my Fujitsu units. It took three service calls to fix one of them, and it is still not fixed correctly -- it used to be super-silent, and now is very noisy. Also, while the service techs say they will order parts, they fail to do so, and I have had to call multiple times to have them order the parts. Being stupid, I asked them to do a maintenance on 5 units, and they did. But one of the units had a problem, and they failed to call back to tell me what the fix is for the unit. After two calls over a two-week period to get them to tell me whether they have ordered the part for the unit, I have given up. Overall, I would say they are poorly organized and fail to follow up. Some of their repair reps are incompetent. read more

Business purports to travel to your residence to perhaps fix your air conditioning. I made such an appointment. This business apparently is not capable of fixing any air conditioning equipment whatsoever. The offer to fix appears to be a ruse to obtain a high service charge plus an undisclosed travel charge in an attempt to sell new equipment. read more

AMV Air Conditioning did an awesome job, from the first contact, to the estimate by Kevin, and the installation by Aldrin and his crew. They were extremely professional, and installed units in 4 of my bedrooms, and also replaced a unit in my mom's rental home in Hawaii Kai. The Mitsubishi units they installed are under warranty for 12 years! We are all much more comfortable, and are no longer dreading the summer and fall when it's so hot and humid in Hawaii! read more

This company has absolutely no integrity, accountability, and they are EXTREMLY disorganized. I literally made this yelp account just to share my horrible experience with others. On April 4, 2016 Kevin Kabei send us a proposal. We would need to sign the proposal and email it back to him, and then we would be sent an invoice to pay the 50% deposit. I signed the invoice and e-mailed it to him on April 5, 2016. We never received an invoice and we never heard back from Kevin. I called their office on April 21,2016 and spoke with Ami, I asked her if we were on the schedule yet and how we could pay the deposit. She told me to send her our signed proposal AGAIN, and that she would send us an invoice (which is the exact same thing Kevin said to do). I sent her the signed proposal and waited for an invoice... Which we never received. So I called their office again on Wednesday, May 4,2016 and spoke to Kevin who told me that I was on the schedule for installation on Friday, May 6!? That was the first I heard of this date! Like how are they going to put you on their schedule with out even TELLING you, & without getting their 50% deposit? Whatever. We were so happy though! We were expecting to have to wait weeks to get this done, so this was great news for us. Anyways, right after I hung up with Kevin I received his invoice via email. Now while speaking with him he told me the deposit needed to be paid by FRIDAY. But the invoice said it needed to be paid THAT DAY. I just took Kevin's word for it and assumed that we could pay this on Friday. Well Thursday we get an email from Kevin saying that the deposit needs to be made by end of day or they wont install Friday. SERIOSULY?! First Kevin says FRIDAY, then the invoice says WEDNESDAY, then Kevin emails again saying its due by END OF DAY on THURSDAY. Well right when I opened that e-mail I immediately paid the invoice. I paid it at 4:01pm Thursday afternoon, their business hours are from 9:00am-5:00pm. So were good right??? WRONG! Friday morning 9:05am we call them to see what time they are coming. And Ami tells us that they aren't coming since we didn't pay the deposit in time!!!! Are you kidding me?! She goes on to apologize and says that all her guys are out at different jobs already. Wait, its 9:00am, which is when you open, and you already told your guys not to install at our house AND sent them to a new job??? How's that even possible! So now here we are we wasted an entire month on this company, chased them down constantly to follow up, AND paid them thousands as a deposit, and she tells me she's sorry and that she can give me a refund?! I mean they dropped the ball about 5 times already and they still can't accommodate us. The best Ami is able to do is TRY and get us in sometime the next week. I told her no thank you and I'm waiting to be refunded. read more

back in 2006 after being 5 months pregnant I threatened my husband that I wasn't going to give birth until he agreed upon putting a/c splitters in the house. We had used someone previously who GROSSLY underestimated the size I needed in my living room. Can you imagine throwing down thousands and thinking something is wrong with the unit, only to find out that the unit is simple not capable to cooling down my living room. I don't live in a big house so it was disgusting that I had to remove the unit (that my aunt scored!) and start all over! Al hooked me up! We installed units into all of our rooms & almost 10 years later, the units run GREAT! The last summer was brutally hot, wouldn't you agree? Friends and family were enjoying our house over the summer. 10 years later we are calling upon him once again since we are moving. There's an old unit there and someone had told me I needed to replaced. I reached out to Al for him to install a new unit into my daughter's room and when I showed him the old central air unit, he suggested we try "enhancing" the unit so it would run more proficiently. SCORE! I'm stoked I didn't go with the other guys suggestion of having to replace the unit right away. Al has always been very quick to respond & service the units of the years. read more

Sent AMV a yelp request because central air wasn't blowing cold air. The owner called me within 10 min. I described the house and location and he identified the brand of A/C over the phone. Turns out he designed and installed the system 10 years ago. He had a tech out to my house the next morning. The tech fixed the system and changed the filters in 2 hours. Cost was reasonable and payment was easy. Hire them if you have A/C issues! read more

Al and his team were very professional and took the time to do the job carefully and correctly. We had a somewhat difficult installation of a ceiling cassette unit which required specific and tedious structural reinforcements to accomplish. Al, although a very skilled contractor, did not feel comfortable with the location of the installation, so he consulted and hired a trusted expert (the cost of which he covered, at no additional cost to us)! The structural reinforcements required to ensure the integrity of the roof, supports, and ceiling were extensive and very well done. This decision instilled a great deal of confidence in Al's professionalism and work ethic. Throughout the installation process, Al's supervision and expertise were apparent. Once completed, he ensured his team left no trace. All walls, ceilings, floors, and exterior areas were cleaned very well. The ceiling installation was impressive. Not one mark was left! All fingerprints and soil were cleaned from the walls and installed components. Al's follow-up consultations were equally appreciated. He ensured that I understood how to register our products for the Mitsubishi 12-year warranty, HI Energy Rebate and Tax credits. He provided all required documentation and links to the required websites. As a veteran himself, Al takes care of veterans and active duty personnel with a military discount! AMV installed my three-zone central system about eight years ago and it works great. AMV has maintained it well. However, an AC system is a combination of electrical and mechanical components, including sensitive circuit boards, that operate in the heat and humidity of the outside or in the attic, and eventually some parts will either wear out, short out, or otherwise have a problem. I recently had a system failure and needed a repair at the earliest possible. Aldrin came over that Saturday and determined the parts needed. The labor costs are extra for a Saturday service call, but in all fairness, he told me in advance and I know that for most service businesses higher weekend rates are usually charged so it was not surprising to me. I asked Aldrin to expedite getting the parts in (I was willing to pay for expedited shipping fees if needed) and he did that, including following up with the supplier. The following Saturday, he came by as promised and got it working well. Aldrin is very experienced with AC systems, and will tell you when you have to replace a part or if there is a way to save some money and fix it (such as putting some Rustoleum paint on the rusting exterior fan blades to stretch out the life of the part). In all, Aldrin is a good guy and I am staying with AMV for my AC needs. read more
