Never reviewed a gas station before... but this place is just strange. This place is close to my house but I usually drive right by because the gas is 15-20 cents more than other places. I even feel guilty filling up my company car here! But every once in a while I get over it. They installed new pumps a while back and they have these red flashing LED lights at the top of each pump that flash the entire time you are pumping gas. There is also a 'warning' message that tells you the lights will continue to flash until you return the nozzle back to the pump? WTH? I don't get it. What else am I going to do with the nozzle when I'm done?! Now I've noticed they have removed all the auto-on latches on each nozzle so you have to stand there the entire time holding the pump lever to fill your tank. That is so annoying! It's like going back in time 20 years when you had to hold it 'on' the entire time. The sign on the pump says the fire marshall made them remove all the latches!? So the one cool thing at this place.... they have hand sanitizer dispensers at each pump. So when you are done you can squirt some in your hand and eradicate all the cooties. Consistently the highest gas prices in town. Not by just a little bit either. It's like a matter of pride for this guy. I can envision him doing a happy dance singing we're #1, we're #1! He has a pretty active service department but based on his greedy gas prices I wouldn't dare ask him to change my oil. read more

Just went there to get gas last night, as I had driven all the way through Orange/AH and forgot to get gas. So this was the most convenient location when I realized I was about to run out! Found it easily on my iPhone map. Much to my surprise, prices were at least 10 cents cheaper/gallon than any of the name-brand gas stations I had just driven past. Great neighborhood location, and I did not have to endure the rush-hour traffic at Imperial/91 to get there. That is a BIG plus! The new pumps do have funky lights and voices - who cares!! They work really fast, swiped my card easily and clearly visible screen prompts. Also, in a nice shopping center with a Fresh N Easy and CVS. This will be a regular stop for me from now on, as I will not have to pass through heavy traffic on either side of the hills. First, I was going to rate this place a 4 star, but now I find out that Frank is no longer working there. I am rating this a 2 star, cuz my good experience with Shell was all due to Frank's honesty and helpful expertise that I value. Without Frank, I dont know if I will get the help I am looking for. I like Frank cuz he would tell me up front whether i needed to repair something or not. Most auto repair places would recommend fixing EVERYTHING and wont tell you some problem only need a minor adjustment here and there. Not being a car guy, I really depended on Frank to give me the honest truth about car repair and he would do his best to keep my repair cost down. Mike, the owner is nice, but he does not spend the time to explain car stuff to me like Frank did. I was happy for the past 7 years knowing I had a "car guy" like Frank to give me reliable service. Dont get me wrong, the technicians at Shell are good, but Frank gave them the directions to what work needed or NOT needed to be done. I need someone who can tell me what I DONT need to fix as well as what needs to be fix. With Frank gone, I have to look for another repair place. Shell is just a mile away from my house, so finding another RELIABLE repair service close to home is not going to be easy. I will miss Frank. read more

I recently had some work done on my car out of convenience, but I was really impressed with the service and honestly. I even price checked the work with my dealership and it was cheaper here by about $45. I would have never considered getting service on my car here, but after my battery died in the parking lot, I decided to have them replace it. I raised three children as a single mama, worked my booty off to have enough money to keep a roof over our heads and food on the table... and know nothing whatsoever about cars. With that said, during all those years there was one thing that made me feel dread more than all others - THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT! My kids are all grown now, but I can tell you when I see that light flash on the car, that sense of dread comes flooding back in because I feel vulnerable. This morning I saw that light and didn't want to drive it all the way to Santa Ana to my normal mechanic so I checked yelp and saw all these great reviews for Frank who is only about a mile from my front door. I am SO GRATEFUL that I did because man-o-man did I ever find a keeper. He was so courteous and almost immediately put my mind at ease. Frank put my car up and showed me the problem so even I could understand it. Never once did I have that familiar feeling of being taken advantage of. I am thrilled to have found such an honest, good guy who I can trust not to milk me out of cash because I'm a female who knows nothing about cars. : ) 5 stars simply isn't enough. This is the closest gas station to my house, so I end up getting gas here frequently; though, I generally try to fill up elsewhere since the gas is a bit more expensive here. Also, I never get the best vibe from the employees; mostly a grungy looking group who seem to be standing around smoking most of the time I see them. So it was against my better judgement that I went here to have my tire repaired after I found a nail in it. I had called Pep Boys where I got one of my tires patched before; their service was fine and it cost $10. Unfortunately, there was a 4 hour wait there, so I went to this Shell station. To their credit, they plugged the tire in under 5 minutes. The issue I have is they charged $19.50 for those couple minutes! It should cost less than $10 to plug a tire (Pep Boy patched a tire, which involves removing the tire from the wheel, for $10). When I complained, they dismissed it and said that is what it is. I would never trust my car to these guys, and I am going to avoid even getting gas here. The Chevron a few miles down Santa Ana Canyon always has better prices without the sketchy employees. read more

more like 3.5/5 stars. gas here is expensive. by like 7-9 cents. cool futuristic red LED lights to warn people to return the nozzle back to the appropriate spot. which leads me to think... did some dipshit drive away with the nozzle attached to his/her car? so that this shell station would have to install these red led lights? they also have free hand sanitizers for you to use. the air/water machine costs about a buck. i remembered it was free a few years ago. the convenient store is small and this place does have a mechanic. this place has about 8+ pumps. read more

Sentimental Fan! So growing up in the area most of my buddies used to work here at what was then the Texaco station. Well many years later it's now a Shell station, and they do minor repairs ect., but I must admit this station is just becoming an eyesore. The pumps are all jacked up, and barely work. The employees all sit out front smoking cigarettes, and drinking coffee. Go back to your roots Mr. Mike Noble... Replace those pumps, and kick those cigarette smoking A-holes in the ass and have them maybe wash a window or two. In this economy I bet you might sell some more upgrades by getting them out there in the islands and bringing Old School back. There is a 76 station doing it by Tustin and La Palma, and it looks successful, That's how you started way back in the old days. At least then people wouldn't mind paying the highest prices in the area for fuel. read more

The gas a tad higher.. but this a privately owned station; I accept that. It's good to see private stations still going these days! I love the gloves and antibacterial lotion at the pumps; they say on average 13k hands touch a pump handle a month.. the chances of somebody being sick are pretty darn high. For guys like me with an autoimmune disorder, you couldn't ask for more. BTW What is Rene L. talking about??? He must've taken his DeLorean, with the flux capacitor on, and the date set to 1985.. cause for at least the last 10 years the pumps have taken card. AND Alizen.. I've been a customer of this gas station since I was old enough to drive.. that's 21 years! I've NEVER seen the owner lose his cool once.. even with tough customers. Wait for it........I HAD A POSITIVE AUTO SHOP EXPERIENCE, It's so rare for me I want to tell anyone who reads this. I ran over a nail. AAA comes out, replaces tire with the spare. I went on YELP to check out options that were close to me. First on the list was Anaheim Hills Shell. I've gassed it up several times there, but never thought of the auto shop portion. I called, and Sean answered. I explained my story, and at 3pm on a Friday, he told me to bring in it, and they would have me back at home in 30 mins. 3 mins later, I pulled in, and they appeared to be busy. Every position was filled with a car. Sean had me back in to where a car already was. My tire was patched up, filled with air, and mounted back on the car. My spare was then placed back under the car. All other tires were topped off with the appropriate air level. The mechanic who worked on this was friendly and very professional. I told him I could come back, but he insisted it wouldn't take him much time, and it didn't . I can't remember his name.....I think it was Avila. I'm probably wrong, and for that I'm sorry. True to their word it took about 18 minutes. Here's the kicker.....$21.50. The speed and professionalism I received was worth that alone. Going forward, because of how they do business, I will be giving them my business. So refreshing! read more

My VW minivan broke down here in Orange. Called AAA and wanted a AAA approved auto repair shop. Anaheim Hills Shell did there best to repair the car on Saturday. We had to wait till Monday to get the right part. Mike was very courteous on Saturday. Frank the manager was helpful on Monday and their diagnosis was correct we made it back to Bay Area that day! Thanks to a very professional local garage. If I need anymore work while visiting family in Orange and Yorba Linda I am going here. read more

This review is only for the gas station, not the service station. I think this gas station has a monopoly on the area since there really isn't another one in the area. As a result, gas is significantly more expensive here. Also, I am pretty sure this gas station closes early. And when it is open, the lighting isn't great- in fact, I'd probably avoid coming here when it is dark, unless I was with someone else. read more

The folks that work here are usually very very nice. It usually takes over $100 worth of diesel fuel to fill my truck up. So I call before I go to check what the price is to see if it's worth the drive. So when I called today I was quite surprised to be told that they couldn't be bothered with doing that (10 feet away folks)and if I wanted the diesel fuel to just come get it. Oh well read more

What gas station wraps a locked chain around the pumps??? Are you kidding me, the gas pumps are closed?? What's the point of pumps that take credit cards and are on while the gas station is closed??? There isn't even an hours of operation sign in the window. Wanted to get a head start in the AM and have to drive to a different station for gas. What a waste! Yes, the gas is expensive, even for Anaheim Hills. BUT.......Frank (the mechanic) and his guys can fix ANYTHING. They're honest, charge a fair price, and they do good work. I've got two cars with 192,000 miles and 145,000, and Frank takes care of them both. Wouldn't take the cars anywhere else. As for the employees, they help the old people, they hire high school kids (who learn about jobs), and I've never had anything but courteous service. The store is recently remodeled and fine for a quick snack--want something more extensive? Go to the CVS or Subway or doughnut shop or pizza joint across the parking lot! They're community-minded, too, letting the local high school and church use the gas station for car washes on the weekend. Expensive gas, yeah, but a "service" station (with everything but full service) like they used to be. Glad they're a part of our community! read more

Frank and the guys at Anaheim Hills are simply amazing. An incredibly honest mechanic... a RARE find... rigorous work ethic... I have a 22 yr old Z car- they have been able to problem solve around obsolete parts and ancient technologies. Frank will tell you right off the bat what needs to be done, and more importantly [given today's economic climate] - what DOESN'T need to be done. I challenge anyone to find another mechanic that straightforward. There's also a coffee shop across the parking lot, so if you have to wait you can grab some food. Great conversation with the crew while you wait. Special attention takes time, so don't expect a "rush job"... If you want it done correctly, and not skimmed over, this is the place. I've ALWAYS received TOP-NOTCH service, SEVERAL TIMES their techs repairing things that the dealer COULD NOT. My son had his car towed to this station. They fixed the problem but caused another. They gave the car back and immediately there was another problem. They said the engine had to be replaced and it wasn't there fault. Bottom line my son had to buy a new car after spending a couple thousand in repair on that one and it still did not run. read more

Stay away from this place like a plague. And definitely do not let Frank work on your vehicle. Took my car in for an electrical problem twice because they didn't fix it the first time. Second time they fixed it and I looked at my bill and they charged me for windshield wiper fluid and a whole plethora of ridiculous unnecessary and unapproved items. I asked frank why these were on there and he was a total jerk about it and reacted defensively. Never will I return to this station. read more

gas here is usually 30 cents more than the cheapest gas stations but the service here is really friendly and the men's room is well kept.

Yes, the gas prices seem to be a little on the high side, but the service department is second to none and repair costs are more than fair. Sean has always been honest about which repairs need to be done and which can wait. I've had oil changes, flat tire fixes and some major engine work / tune ups here and wouldn't go anywhere else. They will even give you a ride home when you drop off your vehicle, if needed. read more
