Walking by on a hot summer day the honey and I discovered Ananas Coffee was finally open! They're still getting set up and the point of sale system at the door isn't fully connected yet, but I love that they plan to use multiple hard to find non-dairy milks such as pistachio and coconut milk and are selling loaves of Acme bread. This visit we picked up a mango iced tea from the friendly barista at the front but next time we'lll definitely be getting an iced Zolo coffee with pistachio milk. Spotted this place on a walk to my appt in the same building. Gave it a try. It's a turkish spot with american items as well. I had the pumpkin spice latte with oat milk, spinach feta and avacado toast. The latte and toast were delicious ! I will definitely have again when i'm in the area. The spinach feta i've had better but also it was left cold in the inside. The lady took about 15 min to make the toast but could've been because she was talking a lot to others as well. Gave Ananas Coffee a try despite the very few reviews it has and I will say this place is very underrated. I had an Iced Hazelnut latte and I can get very picture about it and I'm glad to say it was a hit! It wasn't watery, it had a good coffee flavor so if you can't take a stronger latte, definitely ask for it to be a but milder! They specialize in Turkish themed coffees and it was also very tasty! We had their sandwiches (didn't have a pic) but also this sandwich with pepperoni and mozzarella inside. I basically thought its like pizza sandwich essentially and it was great! The only thing I do have to say is it can get very hot near the windows (far from ac) so we moved to the benches + smaller table right below the ac. Their doors are open constantly so maybe that was also a factor too nevertheless a good cafe. read more

I'd love to give this a five because it's new but there's multiple reasons why I can't. Maybe they can earn the five star in the near future when I visit again. Let me tell you a few things I think would be good recommendations to follow through on : One - prep your store before opening the doors. Your pastries should already be out in visible., seating should already be set up so whoever orders their drink can sit outside of your store and lure customers in...basically showing that you have customers first thing in the morning... that's a good sign. Two - Your new shop ... pay attention to customers orders as well, especially if they're ordering online where you really shouldn't be making mistakes ( it would be my mistake if I ordered the wrong item, but I ordered the item that I wanted and was given what I didn't order if that makes sense ) I ordered a feta spinach wrap, and you gave me something that had leeks. In other words. It wasn't what I ordered. And I'm very thankful that it was not meat because I am a vegetarian. Most customers would return it and then you'd have wasted product and a loss on that on that meal because you have to replace it with the right item.. I ate it anyway and didn't go back to complain, but these are just things that you need to pay attention to so you don't get future customers that do complain. Your coffee is excellent. So again with that said, make sure your store is prepped and ready to take the first customer that walks into your store in the morning.. California is busy. It's not slow paced some people want their drink to go because they're on the move. Not everyone has the luxury of waiting for 10 minutes for a drink. I'm not sure if you're planning to stay open temporarily or long-term, but you have potential, coffee makes a great profit margin... but constant mistakes are the end of most businesses My parents told me about the shop because they enjoyed their experience. I do wanna go back and try the Turkish coffee and some of the other pastry items because they look delicious. I wish you all the best of luck, but the attention is always in the detail. read more

I have been wanting to try this place for so long. Walked in finally after a work meeting to pick up a late lunch. The menu isn't too extensive, and I got myself a tuna salad sando. The person who was running the shop made it right in front of me. My verdict - this is easily one of the best tuna salad sandwiches that I've had! Relatively light, very very fresh and delicious from the first to last bite. I went back for more. Got the turkey basil pesto and moz tom sandos for lunch on different occasions. Again, they delivered. Delicious and super-fresh. Every ingredient that goes in, has the quality. No sandwich would taste that good if the ingredients weren't high quality. I'd however stay away from their cookies. Downright bad. I only had the matcha white chocolate cookie. It was bone-dry and probably the worst that I've ever had. The other cookies on display do not look very appetizing and now I know that they don't seem to get those right. Yet to try any of their coffee drinks, and am curious to try a few of those. The ambiance is pleasant, and service was absolutely on-point. I may bring work meetings here, on occasion. The verdict - can't go wrong with their breakfast sandwiches but stay far away from those cookies (they shouldn't even be selling those). read more

The cookie was super small yet tall and was made with quality chocolate, however the texture and consisted was more dry like a scone. The baklava was okay and the size of a roll of Pennie's. The pricing was outrageous. For the small cookie--it was $6.50+tax! There was no pricing so we were super shocked at the cost. The good: low sugar pastries on the healthy side, which I love! The bad: I ordered an iced decaf latte because it was in the evening time. It tasted like milk. No coffee flavor at all! It was brown, so I know they put espresso in there. Or did they? It tasted like very weak coffee and not rich like espresso should be. So disappointing. I ordered another shot of decaf to try to fix it. And it was a lot of volume and very watery. I suspect they use regular decaf coffee? I'm not sure but it was baaaaaddddd. The ugly: No bathroom. A big pet peeve for me is no bathroom for customers. Especially at a coffee place! Ummm, diuretic much? Geez. Verdict? I tossed my full coffee in the trash down the street. Won't be back. Parking in downtown Walnut Creek is usually a nightmare. So this is the perfect type of coffee shop that's perfect to stop by either before or after shopping. While their drinks and food were delicious, the parking situation is a major deterrent for just a quick pass by for an afternoon pick me up. I tried their more popular food items, the Garlic Cream Cheese Korean bread and a cold brew with salted caramel syrup and oat milk. The bread is a more popular item for good reason! It's creamy and decadent, but definitely something you might want to eat with a fork and knife. It's a little greasey due to the butter but oh so delicious. Service was pretty quick for my order, but I did notice some people waiting a bit longer than normal for their orders. But as this is a small business, be patient! Trust me, it's worth it! This is a good café with a welcoming atmosphere, and I really want to support it because it's family owned. I understand that operating in Walnut Creek comes with high overhead costs, and I'm happy to pay for quality. However, the pastries are simply too small for the price. I'd love to see more reasonably sized pastries that better reflect what customers are paying. Calling my fellow Elites - let's put them on the map!!! What a lovely space to stumble upon as I walked downtown....and the name grabbed me immediately! It's a small and clean spot, there's two small round tables that fit two each, then where's a bench wall seat for two or three individuals, and then you have the window seats, which can fit six high and there's also a lower seat for those in a wheelchair. The staff is friendly, they make everything to order so it's not sitting there soggy. It is delivered to you hot & fresh! They made me a coconut latte because I love coconut drinks! It was strong and it's giving me the boost I need to start my day. The Sucuk Panini is crunchy, the Turkish beef pepperoni has a bit of a kick, and the mozzarella was thick and melted perfectly. Very tasty. My lady loved the lox. Her description is: toast is crunchy, it's salty and flavorful, and she likes it very much. "It's better than the other places I've had it (in general)". I got to taste test the breakfast burrito and let me tell you, I'll be ordering that the next time. It's fresh kale, spinach, onions, and frittata (which is fluffy)! I highly recommend this place. The people that work here are incredibly rude and also happen to have 0 brain cells combined. My friend stopped in here yesterday to buy a drink. He ended up ordering an iced turkish coffee with milk. It was hot outside, so I went in to grab some water. Their water container was not only basically empty, but it was also warm. Gross. I decided I would rather pay for a cup of iced water (because in a lot of the places I've been to, they charge for it). I go up to the register and ask if I can buy a plastic cup with iced water. The cashier/pastry cook/barista says, "Water?" and I repeat that I want a cup with iced water. She says, "Ice?" and I say, yes please. She goes right next to where the other barista is and she grab a scoop full of ice and gestures it to me. I'm kind of confused by this point, and it seems like the other barista is too. And then I ask again if I can get it in a plastic cup. Then the other barista points to one of the paper cups next to the warm water container, but then I ask them again if I could please get it in one of the cups they have, (because I wanted to be able to carry it around with a lid). That's when the other barista says, "You're doing too much, but okay." And she passes me the plastic cup, without a lid, acting as if I just asked her for her whole paycheck and half the drinks on the menu. I'm definitely annoyed at this point, but I don't care enough to be rude back. Then she says she's going to fill up the container. So she goes, gets the container to fill it up, and I'm there waiting with my friend in the store. It looks like she's the only barista there, so it keeps taking a little longer for the drink(s) to come out. When she finally comes back with a semi-filled container, I'm conversing with my friend, when she turns sharply and says, "Were you going to order anything??" in a pretty snappy tone, as if I'm only worth giving a plastic cup to if I'm going to order more. We reply that we already ordered, and she goes back to finish drinks that a previous customer had ordered. It's two drinks, and I assume that it took about 12-15 minutes for them to receive what looked like small hot drinks. I say this because these customers were sitting there well before my friend and I arrived, took time to order, and then were waiting for our drinks. After that, we're still waiting while she goes to take orders, and that's when the cashier/pastry cook/barista woman finishes my friends drink... after having stood there FOREVER while the other barista was going in circles. I was shocked to say the least, kind of amused, but also disappointed because these customers drink was about 8-9 bucks, the wait time was about 8-10 minutes, and the drink was disgusting. Actually insane. I don't recommend this place whatsoever. Place looks mid, service was abominable, and the workers look like they hate each other and anyone who asks for a plastic cup with iced water. Do better, and preferably give us back our money for the nasty drink+attitude combo. read more

I've been curious about Ananas for a bit--walking by, seeing the bright space, and reading the positive reviews made me excited to try it. I also love supporting new businesses, and I was told they've only been open about a month. I ordered a decaf almond milk latte, and unfortunately, it just didn't land for me. The flavor was flat, the texture wasn't very creamy or frothy, and it lacked the richness I've had in other almond milk lattes. I didn't pick up any of the spiced notes I had read about, though that could be due to it being decaf. I know it's a tough order, but I've had great almond milk lattes elsewhere--and this one just didn't hit the mark. I didn't try the food or pastries this time, but the burrata avocado toast caught my eye, and the pastries in the case looked delicious. If I were to come back, I'd try something from the food menu, which I suspect is where this place shines. The interior is bright and the location is convenient, right downtown. The staff member who helped me was friendly. It's not a super cozy spot, but it seemed like a decent place to sit for a bit. Based on the latte, I'd give it 3 stars. But for the overall appeal of the space and the food options, I'm rounding up to 4 stars. I'm rooting for this spot--it's always nice to see new local cafés in town. read more

"Ananas" means pineapple in 42 languages and seems like the perfect mascot for this spot's blend of Turkish cuisine and classic Californian cafe dishes. I went during their soft opening and was able to speak to the owners (who are from Turkey!) Ananas is a family-run business so cool to support. They use local favorites: Acme Bread and Zolo Coffee. And their herbs come fresh from their small garden out front. Their avocado toast was incredibly flavorful and beautifully plated. There was lemon, cucumber, radish & micro greens, with EVOO of course. It was a perfect size. I enjoyed their sucuk panini with Turkish pepperoni and melty mozzarella, it tasted vaguely like kefta kebab meat to me. The owners recommend this one with their housemade chili hot honey! The tuna salad sandwich was delish, so layered and they don't skimp on the portion sizes! I loved the bread with this one. Wish the tuna salad was a tiny bit saltier though. They also gave me their breakfast burrito to try with kale spinach frittata, roasted potatoes, mixed greens. Honestly, it wasn't my favorite texture-wise but I could tell it felt filling and healthy. The Coco Azul smoothie was a sight to see, SO blue and bold! Very light flavor, it had tropical fruit, coconut water, hemp seeds, blue spirulina + collagen protein. I'm excited to see Ananas keep growing and introduce acai bowls, my fave. I ordered 3 things and unfortunately left very disappointed. I originally came here for the korean cream cheese bun which looked very tasty visually but unfortunately the taste wasn't for me. The cream cheese was sweet, almost like frosting. Just wasn't what i was expecting, I personally think regular cream cheese would've tasted better with the garlic. Not worth $15 I also ordered the strawberry matcha with an extra shot and it's was SOO powdery/grainy. Strong matcha flavor which i like but wasn't a fan bc of the texture. And despite having on-site food for consumption, they don't have restrooms for paying customers! I was told to use the restrooms at the parking garage.
