This review is for the amazing couples massage we had at Anara Spa. Ok to be fair, we had two couples massages. I'd say the first one was about 4 stars but the second experience was about 12 stars. It's a huge spa. When you walk in there's a lap pool in the middle with two jacuzzis. Men's and women's locker rooms on either side of the pool. Lockers, showers, lava rock showers and a shower with 12 showerheads! There is a single sex jacuzzi in each locker room area--open air. The normal massage rooms line the rounded hallway between the men's and women's locker room and the couples garden area is out the back. Just sitting in the garden area lounge area was so peaceful. And the couples massages are done in little private huts with 2 tables inside. It's open air and there is a fan so it's quite peaceful to feel the breeze, and have natural light (for the few times you open your eyes). I don't think I've had a massage with the outdoor feeling before. Just by chance, we were able to get 1 female and 1 male therapist both times which worked great because my husband likes the really deep tissue massage and I like the kind-of deep-tissue-massage-but-I'm-still-a-little-bit-of-a-wuss. The first massage wasn't quite as deep for either of us but it was still good and relaxing. The second set of massages by were incredible. For me, she asked if the pressure was ok until it was perfect. So I had her go a little harder until it was juuuuuuust right. Oh it was so painful and so painfully good. She even asked if it was enough in certain spots or if I wanted her to go longer on the back before moving on to the legs. What a personalized experience! If you want to relax, then you found your perfect spot. It's worth the splurge, if you just let yourself go. read more

I don't know if I was simply in blissful vacation mode but I was elated the whole time I was here. I was so grateful to have been able to visit for a massage. I would love to come back someday. The amenities were great. A lap pool, sauna rooms, jacuzzis, clean locker rooms, private outdoor showers with everything you need. 100% a full service spa experience. My massage was great. I elected the Lomi Lomi which incorporates longer strokes (the masseuse uses more of his/her forearms), much like a head to toe "weaving" technique. The pressure was medium - perfection. I wish it could have gone on for hours! I felt very fluid and relaxed afterwards. Just what I wanted. If you have a couple hours and monies to spare, Anara Spa is definitely worth checking out! read more

I splurged on a facial while on our first family vacation, left my 6 month old with the hubby, and enjoyed some time for myself at the Anara Spa. Service was exceedingly friendly and helpful. I arrived 35 minutes early to get settled, familiarize myself with the amenities, and relax prior to my service. The facial itself was enjoyable in the beautiful garden area. Listening to the birds and feeling the breeze was incredible. My esthetician was nice, but I felt the massage portion a bit lacking and not very balanced. I'm sort of OCD about each side being worked on equally and I felt my left side was more thoroughly and carefully massaged than my right. I also didn't realize I would have some powder makeup applied after, and once I left the shade the humidity had me rubbing my face and I ended up smearing all that powder anyway. Perfect excuse to use the lava rock showers which were incredible. Beautiful facilities with dried fruit, nuts, and snacks. Pineapple infused water is delicious. Lovely locker area with all the amenities you need. I wanted to come back to enjoy the steam room and sauna but alas, my son demanded me to be a mother. Maybe next time I will spend a bit more time enjoying the spa. read more

This is my first trip outside of CA since Covid hit, my last time here was August 2019. It was well worth the wait. Protocol and safety was all in place. While everything is open air, the Grand Hyatt and their patrons have it down. I wasn't staying here but everyone was wearing a mask, giving and honoring space. The energy and service I received was AMAZING. This staff is really good at their job. Check in, the women's spa and the team that I worked with, I felt so lucky to have. Laola, did my facial. She really dived in on my skin, which was glowing after. Greg, did my Coffee scrub and a massage. Both were true to their craft and passionate about their jobs. Something is going really well at the Grand Hyatt and it starts with the staff and extends into the space. I wish I made more appointments during my stay here- book in advance. Oh. My. God. How could anyone give this place less than 5 stars??? Full disclosure, my wife had to drag me kicking and screaming to get a spa day during our honeymoon because I'm not necessarily one for pampering myself for the sake of pampering myself, and I was like, "HOW could anything this expensive be worth it?" Well, it is. She and I went for the couples massage and body polish with exfoliant followed by a facial and then some dabbling with the other luxuries the spa offers. Every ounce of the experience was overflowing with the utmost customer service and care towards my wife and me. My masseuse, Christina, my facial care expert, Laola, and the guy who checked me into the mens side of the spa, Rory, all rocked. I'm terrible with names and yet I remember all their names because they were that good to me. I am extremely surprised to see the only negative reviews on here seem to reference customer service because my experience was the polar opposite. Everything was provided to us and explained to us along the way. They kept track of every product used on our skin for future reference. Honestly, even in just wandering the spa, it seems like every sight, every smell, every touch is curated to perfection. I went to Kauai for the outdoor adventures, but this place (with credit to my wife's persistence) have shown me what a luxury experience truly is. Had the best massage by Greg. He really tailored my treatment per my needs and knew exactly how to treat my problem areas. Initially, I told him that I don't like it too hard so he started very gently. I asked him to do it a bit harder and he found the right amount of pressure that I could tolerate but still hard enough to be therapeutic. He said he's been doing massages for 28 years and I believe it. I could tell he was very experienced and detailed to customer satisfaction. I had a side by side massage with my daughter in the garden. Such a relaxing atmosphere. I could feel the light breeze wafting across my body and the sound of the birds and rustling foliage just enhanced the whole experience. The locker room attendants and the check-in staff were so helpful and kind. Loved the outdoor lava rock showers. So much fun!! read more

The spa was great. I went one morning on my honeymoon while my husband went to play golf, and I had a great relaxing morning. The property is lush and beautiful, and I loved that basically no matter where I was I was able to enjoy the outdoor ambiance. I started with a massage that took place in one of the outdoor bungalows. It was amazing. You can hear the sounds of nature and really relax into it. My massage therapist was also incredible. Just the right amount of talking vs not talking and just relaxing. After my massage, I had a few minutes to wait before a facial. I waited near the hot tub, which is probably the only area of the spa that I was disappointed in. It felt a bit sterile, but I wasn't there for the tub so I didn't really care. I relaxed on a chaise and had a glass of tea while I waited. My facial was in a room that was enclosed on three sides, but the fourth wall was open to the environment. It rained during my treatment, which made for an even more relaxing experience. The facial was also great. I have fairly sensitive skin and just wanted a deep clean and a lot of moisturization. The therapist listened to my concerns and did a great job with my facial. Overall, I really enjoyed my morning here. It certainly wasn't cheap, but I left so relaxed that I'd do it all again in a heartbeat. read more

This is not a 5 star spa at all - fortunately I didn't have to pay for access given my Hyatt status - comparing this to other "luxury spas" such as Hyatt Andaz Maui, Four Seasons, Montage, etc... Anara does not even come close to comparing. They just miss the mark on the little things that guest care about. Barely no products in bathrooms to use after massage or spa they are VERY frugal and you can feel it... you need to ask for a robe and sandals when most luxury spas just have them in lockers... You have to go to the front counter to get a comb or razor No toothbrush or tooth paste And the customer service is very poor- they just are not delightful to deal with. Two employees were arguing at the front desk when I was there and they apologized. Seems like a culture issue. Also asked for swimming googles for lap pool and they said I could buy from gift shop. I am really surprised by the poor facial experience my brother and I had over the long holiday weekend! I stumbled upon this place a couple weeks ago- on my way to dinner at Stevenson's Library (which is arguably one of the best dinner experiences we've had in Kauai and why I am so surprised by this un-stratifying experience). To begin with the positives- the hotel is beautiful, likewise the spa and appearance of the facilities as well. Apparently you get full access to the facilities for the day if you do set a spa appointment/ experience. To begin most people get a facial and expect a cleansing of some sort or deep cleaning; while the expedience was comfortable, I honestly can not tell you that I felt nor looked any different. In fact, my face did not even appear as washed following the appointment rather was caked on with sunscreen. I usually like to learn about the products as they are applied; but I truly did not even feel- but one product being applied to my face to even ask. The one I did notice was a cooling cream that Rachelle (my esthetician) mentioned was an anti ageing cream from Hungry. To have paid nearly $500 I am incredibly disappointed and would not recommend this place for facials. What I did notice is that most were there to use the facilities or get massages. I can actually see their massage' being good as both my brother and I agreed that we were very relaxed and got more out of the massage portion of our facials than that of the facial its self. We were helped by Rachelle and Laola who seem kind enough. Overall my recommendation is a no go as I do not have any plans to return. read more

Below average customer service- this is where my complaint is 100% focused on. The hotel and facility are bar none incredible, but someone needs to get some training on how to communicate with paying customers. Perhaps had I been a "resident guest" staying on the grounds of the Grand Hyatt, I'd have been treated better but I'll never know because I would NEVER go back. I'll stick to Marriott's because of my status with them. I was told the Grand Hyatt was phenomenal as this was my first trip to Poipu, so I decided to eat dinner there (Tidepools) in addition to investing in a FULL DAY spa day which was highlighted by couples massage. I was told by three different people (one sales person on the phone as I booked the spa visit months before, one at the front desk the day of, and one attendant on the men's spa side) that "I would have full Access to the hotel and pool area." That simply wasn't accurate. The lack of CLEAR communicating honestly ruined our day. After a wonderful couples massage, my girlfriend and I went to the pool bar and had lunch. We then proceeded to go get lounge chairs and towels and relax outside AT THE POOL, but based on policy we were rudely rejected and told we couldn't not sit in the lounge chair due it "being the wrong pool." Meaning we were not allowed to go anywhere but the lap pool at the spa! Why wouldn't ANY of the three reps I spoke with have said that? So let's get real here- The issue was NOT the policy itself. I get it. You want to have residents who stay in rooms on-site who are with you for a few days or a week with full access to the pool and beach. The issue is HOW this was communicated to us multiple times. And unfortunately the story gets worse. As a last straw, I asked for a spa manager to discuss my issue, and after waiting 20-25 minutes for her to even come out of the office to speak with me, her approach was less than desirable as she told me I was wrong, that "this would never happen", and that policy was policy. She started telling me about the "millions of dollars some company was spending that week." She spoke over me. She interrupted me. She DIDN'T LISTEN! And the sad thing is she didn't even know she was doing it. Upon concluding my conversation with her, she offered two $50 credits for the spa, which I rejected knowing I wouldn't be back. I told her I'd be eating dinner two nights later at Tidepools and a credit there would suffice. She apparently checked on it with "food and beverage", but then after 90 minutes never returned to tell me the result so we left. I've still never received a call. No email. Nothing. It's now going on one week. Long story short: This hotel is VERY BEAUTIFUL. But when you have multiple people mis-communicating with you and then a manager doing very little and being a know it all wit a paying customer, it leaves little to be desired for a positive experience. Between Tidepools, the pool bar, and the couple massage, you would think that dropping a grand in 48 hours would warrant some better communication and service. Loved my spa experience here the other day. If you book an appointment at the spa you have access to the spa, it's classes, the jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, lap pool and gym for the entire day. Be sure to take advantage of it. The staff is friendly and attentive. The locker room is clean and constantly kept clean. I had an 11 am massage booked on a Sunday morning. Checked in to the spa at 7:30 am to take advantage of the classes offered. First a 1 hour Pilates class held in a studio with open doors. Mats and towels provided. The studio comfortably held 10 participants plus the instructor. The instructor was good and the class was good for all levels. Next up a water aerobics class. This instructor was hard core, but really great about showing you how to modify to make it easier or more challenging. The jacuzzi area has 3 sun loungers and a couch and some chairs. Very tranquil quiet place to relax. My 50 minute lomi lomi massage was wonderful. My masseuse was friendly and not overly chatty. The outside lava showers were tranquil and the cocomango hair and skin products smelled heavenly. Can't wait to come back for my next vacation spa treatment. read more

AWESOME SPA!!!!! :) I have been here for a facial in 2014, and I loved it!!! :) There was a Jacuzzi, a good-smelling steam room, a sauna, and LAVA ROCK SHOWERS all in the locker room. In the main (coed) area, there were 2 Jacuzzis, and a tiled lap pool. The food was great (I got the Pasta Primavera I think), and they had good lemonade and PURE CHOCOLATE CHIPS for snack!!! The age requirement is 14 years old, so I was able to get in. The facial was relaxing, and smelled great!!! :) Also, get the Coco Mango lotion in the spa shop, it captures the scent of Hawaii so you can take the islands home with you. I've stayed at the Hyatt twice now and I'm so sad I didn't visit this spa the first time around. My husband and I did a couples massage and one other treatment each and it was 100% worth the money. The couples massage garden is absolutely breathtaking and the therapists really created an immersive experience from start to finish. Karin and Maggie were our therapists and it was the best massage either of us has ever had (and we've had A LOT of massages over the years). I also had the coffee body polish and Jaime was my technician. She was equally talented and just a delightful soul. Great service and attention to detail. As I explained in my tip, if you schedule a massage make sure you verify whether you are going to be outdoors or in. I was not expecting to be outdoors as I have only had outdoor massages on beachfronts but never in a spa. It was a great experience but I like to know details like this when I book. The Island Aromatherapy was a great selection and they give you 3 aromas to choose from, 1 citrus 1 floral and 1 eucalyptus/menthol type. The locker rooms have whirlpool, steam room, sauna and grotto style shower stalls with rain effect shower heads. If you are a customer you get access to the spa all day until 8pm. Not outrageous pricing for a resort locale but be prepared to drop $150+ for 50 mins. It befuddles me why people complain about pricing of spa services post sale. They do not hide their pricing sheet Yelpers. If you have this super high expectation just BC you're paying 20% more than you do at your local Massage club, and you're envisioning being carried around by servants and the spa hosting a fete in your honor, prepare for agonizing remorse when you checkout. The negative comments I've read about the food selection are not 100% accurate as you have full access to the spa and thus you can access the pre-massage pavilion which is stocked with fruit and finger food. It's a spa after all not a Golden Corral so if you're looking for a wide variety of food choices to accompany your spa experience as other Yelpers were, prepare for brutal dissapointment. read more

I stayed at the resort for 2 nights and originally booked the 80 minute hot stone massage. I was going to splurge and get it done in the garden like Jay mentioned (YOU MUST MENTION THAT YOU WANT IT OUTSIDE WHEN BOOKING UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE INDOORS!!). I ended up not getting it because my back was a little tender from all the sun (I don't think it's smart getting massaged when you are a little red especially a massage that would cost me over $200!!). I did decide to pay the $30 to use the facilities though. I used the spa the day I checked out because they don't close until 8, and my flight wasn't until 8:40. On my last day I just wanted to make use of the spa and the resort without leaving the hotel. I was in and out for hours! The steam room is the best steam room I have ever used. They have eucalyptus coming through so it really opens up your sinuses. The sauna though wasn't hot though. They have a clothing optional jacuzzi in the women's wing which I used and went in naked, but no one seemed to make use of it aside from a middle aged woman who had a large bush. There's a 3 lane lap pool but I think if you are NOT using the spa you get to use it too but I'm not positive. Next to the lap pool are 2 jacuzzis. I used the lava rock shower like 4 times LOL. Their cocomago shampoo, conditioner, and body wash smells great! I filled up a little 3 ounce travel bottle with a little of the soap. They sell it in their shop but I think It was like $57 bucks for a large bottle and $30 for a small one. My budget for soap is Suave =( The spa itself looks better on their website. It's really just white, bamboo, open space, with zen like music so I thought the ambiance was going to be a little better. They have watermelon infused water available everywhere as well as bananas and apples. I highly recommend anyone staying at the Hyatt who may have a red eye flight to pay the $30 and use the spa. It was very relaxing, quiet, and a great way to end a vacation. They also have lockers which I stored a lot of my stuff. Staff was great too and let me store some food in their fridge! $30 for people staying at Hyatt and $50 for non Hyatt customers. I've used Korean spas in LA which typically cost $15-20 which have more facilities but are kind of gross (IMO). I don't think I would pay just to spa without a service if I weren't staying here though. It was just convenient for me. read more

For years I have had this idea in the back of my mind about the most amazing massage. It would be outside, open air, under a roof with long white sheers blowing, the sound of birds singing in the trees and the ocean waves rhythmically strumming the shoreline and occasional deep throated chimes tinkling in the light warm breeze. After preparing and changing into my robe, I was led outside to the waiting lanai. There were teas, cucumber water, fruit, recliners and magazines to greet me while I was waiting for my masseuse. It may have been the stress I had been under or just being overwhelmed by how close this was to the ideal garden massage I had been thinking about. But the funniest thing was I just was uncharacteristicly overcome by emotion and I began to cry. It was that it was all so very elegant and the setting just instantly resonated with my soul. So I was bit embarassed when my masseuse came up to me and I am wiping away tears. I had to explain it was a lot to take in. He led me down a tropical path among the private garden hales, pointing out the orchids tucked into the trees and describing the beautiful flowers in the garden. I booked a Lokahai 80 minute massage for deep relaxation and profound harmony. I had a private garden hale. It was built out of natural materials such as bamboo and reeds and wood floor. It was three sided with the open side facing a private lava rock open air shower and garden. It was very private and I felt completely safe and comfortable there. I had the most relaxing massage ever and I have had quite a few massages. It was almost a spiritual moment for me. If we go back I will definitely arrange for a couple's massage there. It's an experience you will remember the rest of your life. read more

This place deserves 1 star from me. Going to try and keep this review short and not go into too much detail. On THREE separate occasions, by THREE separate front desk girls, my sister and I were treated like CRAP. They have some serious attitude problems here. When you go to a spa you expect nothing less than to be treated like a princess and feel pampered from the SECOND you walk in until the SECOND you leave. The amenities/facilities are small and not very nice. It's an outdoor facility. Steam room sauna and jacuzzi are all outside. As far as our massages go, they were wonderful and our therapists were very sweet. But all of this was forgotten once we were checking out and had to deal with a VERY unhappy woman working the front desk. We both left our "spa day" with a BAD taste in our mouth. Once I left I already felt like I needed a massage again... I spoke to the manager about our experience. He seemed glad to hear our feedback, but did nothing to help resolve the issue or make it up to us. If you're trying to decide which spa to go to on the island, go to the St Regis in Princeville. That is how a spa is supposed to run, look, and feel. You will be treated like a princess from beginning until end! read more

The hotel setting is beautiful but the spa itself needs a huge makeover. It's outdated. The photos you see do not really give you a sense of how small the space is and how close all the facilities are to each other. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I had gotten a gift certificate from a friend for my birthday for a massage. The woman who gave me a massage was not a seasoned professional. I think she was fresh out of school and wasn't confident in what she was doing but she was really nice. I was lead into a small room where there was a massage table and not much else. Not exactly what you would envision when you're at an upscale hotel in paradise. I could hear people in the lap pool as I was getting my massage which was distracting. I went to pay for my 55 minute massage and provided the gift certificate ($100). The balance (with tip included) was $139! Whaaaat?! I went here recently for an express pedicure (filing, nail paint, small massage but no sole exfoliation) for $65. Yes, it's more than what I've paid for a regular pedicure but I think it's worth it! Why? Here are 5 reasons: 1) You get all day access to the spa! What does that mean? You have access to a lap pool, lava rock shower, 12 head shower, eucalyptus steam room, hot tub, gym, gym classes! I didn't stay at a top notch resort when I was in Kauai so I took full advantage. 2) You get 10% off the spa products. 3) If you're not staying at the hotel you get valet park for free. 4) They gave me the brand new nail file and nail buffer to keep. (I get excited by the little things people) 5) Last but not least, the pedicure was awesome! The massage chairs were super comfy, there were water jets directly under my feet. The lady who did my nails was so fun to talk to and she did a great job. I guess if I had to say something bad I'd say that I don't understand what the big deal is about the lava rock showers. It's an outdoor shower with lava rock instead of tile and a rain shower head. That was kind of a disappointment. Overall I had a good experience. If I were lucky enough to come back to Kauai I would def come back to Anara Spa. read more

I have definitely experienced much better spas. I was excited about Anara because I heard they newly renovated and had wonderful spa amenities. Well, perhaps they did newly renovate but they should have moved the spa to a different location on the property as I was rudely woken during my $165 massage by a loud truck, backing up, beeping, then inching forward, braking, backing up again, and loading and unloading. I couldn't believe it! Even the massage therapist was a bit embarrassed when I could not help but burst into laughter. To think, paying $165 + 20% for my treatment, the spa could provide to guests a piece of fruit or some type of granola bars or even HOT water (instead of only iced water). The snack bar closes at 2 or 2:30pm, which is very inconvenient for guests. I found the lady's locker-room to be very claustrophobic, crowded and poorly lit. There is not a lot of room to sit when drying your hair. There isn't even a lot of good amenities such as special face lotion, etc. The lava shower located right outside of the lady's locker room was also poorly designed although it was a cool concept. You must walk by other naked showering women in order to find an empty shower. Actually, at first I found the black lava rocks with the over-grown ivy plants to also be a bit claustrophobic. Pictures of the couple's massage area and the new yoga studio look cool but I never got to use it. I should have booked a couple's massage and requested for the little outdoor huts instead of having separate "regular" rooms for our massages. Either way, this spa was one of the worst I had been to for the amount of $$$ I paid. I was extremely disappointed. read more

My husband and I were recently in Kauai because he had some work to do there, it was my spring break from nursing school, and I'm 7 months pregnant with our first baby and there was no way he was heading to Hawaii without me! Since he had to work several days on our trip, I made the best of one of the days and spent it at Anara Spa. I started my morning with a yoga class. Heads up that the Monday morning, "all levels" class is tough. I've been doing yoga for years, and while I've recently limited myself to prenatal yoga, several people left the class part of the way through because they were losing it. The instructor was a nice guy, but didn't offer suggestions for ways to change up poses to make them less intense, so while other people left I spent a lot of time in child's pose or other rest poses to avoid injury. And I was still dripping in sweat by the end of class and sore the next day! After that sweat session I decided to take it easy until my massage and spent a few hours by the pool, read my book, ordered a $20 tofu spring roll for lunch (decent, but seriously, $20 for two spring rolls?), and swam laps a few laps in the pool. My massage itself was good, though I have to admit I was surprised that my therapist was male. When I first got into the therapy room he remarked that he'd set up a pillow system for the massage, since I can't lie on my belly or back for too long, but that he wasn't sure it was going to work since it was meant for people smaller than me (I'm 5'1", of totally normal weight). Way to make a pregnant lady feel bigger than she already is! I wonder if a women would have been more sensitive to that? Or maybe he just needs some training on how to work with pregnant women? While others have pointed out that the facilities aren't anything special, I don't really fault Anara in that respect. Their locker room is comfortable enough and have quality body products available, their outdoor showers are pretty, they have a decent pool and jacuzzi set up, and the treatment room was nice and open to outdoors. Despite my ho-hum experience with the massage therapist and yoga instructor, the rest of the staff were extremely friendly and constantly checking to see if I needed water, etc. read more

My boyfriend and I did the lover's package with an hour (each) bath, massage and facial. First the bath starts with rubbing in a sugar cane exfoliate, showering off, applying a mud-like paste and showering. From there you lay in the bath for about 20 minutes. The pre-bath part was fun and romantic. The bath wasn't warm enough and hard to lay in given the angle of the tub. It was still nice and relaxing. After the bath we had couple massages. I had Bev and M had Greg. Seriously the best massage I've ever gotten. Highly recommended. Lastly we had our facials. I had Larla (sp?) and M had Chantal. I enjoyed it but I don't think it was worth the cost. I wish she would have done more extractions. Our faces were a mess from the sun, sunscreen, makeup, ocean (and repeat). I thought the spa was lovely! A great and relaxing place to spend the afternoon. I had a special pass that allowed me access to the spa at all times during our trip and I would often head over to read and then use the facilities. The lava showers are awesome, outside with yummy smelling products! We also engaged in the couple's retreat where we were able to enjoy salt scrubs, a clay mask, bath for two and massages and pedicures! Talk about luxurious. They use epicuren products which are my favorite, so I know it's good stuff! We loved our stay at this hotel and the spa. Next time I'll bring my goggles to do some laps in the pool here for exercise. Super nice, worth the $$$! read more

Best massage I've ever had in my entire life! Cindy (I think was her name?) was my massage therapist. Seriously, the greatest massage I've ever experienced. She really listened to me when I spoke about how my anxiety disorder affected my body and she tackled those issues in the most relaxing way. One thing to know: The cost of your treatment also includes access to the grounds. So don't do what I did and show up sans bathing suit and 5 min before check in. Take advantage of the saunas, jacuzzi, and outdoor showers. Our stay in Kauai was very stressful since we were caught in the crazy storm that dominated north shore. We booked this last minute on the last night of our stay and it was the best decision we've made in Kauai. Thank you Grand Hyatt. You live up to the hype! read more

Amenities here are decent, nothing special especially for the price. This review is mainly based on my experience in their salon. I got my hair done by Owen. I was apprehensive at first because he asked a lot of questions but in the end, I realize it was to produce an amazing, staying hairdo. Definitely, one of the best hairstylist I've been to. On the other hand, I also got my bridal make up done there. To say I was extremely disappointed is an understatement. They didn't have primer, eyelash curler, or know how to apply eyelashes and the make up artist seemed like an amateur despite her years of experience. My make-up didn't last more than a couple of hours but I wasn't happy with the way it was applied in the first place. I would suggest coming here only if you have no basic concept of makeup. If you have applied makeup in your life, you are better off doing it yourself. It's also not cheap...$100 plus 18% tip for less than 30 minutes of service. Any makeup counter at the mall would have done a way better job. read more

Anara is by far the loveliest spa I've experienced in all my trips to the Hawaiian islands. The facility is beautiful with its tranquil pool, outdoor spa, comfortable lounge chairs and outdoor showers. The spa attendants are so hopeful and exude the supreme aloha spirit. They also have a great retail selection where they sell some of the softest fitness attire I have ever seen. Not to be missed, even if you don't have a service or use the facility, is the Anara signature body lotion Coco Mango. I have been asked by friends and family who have been there before to bring some home! You also get a discount on retail products if you have a service. My fifty minute massage was five star all the way! My therapist Crystal asked me about any health issues or specific areas that needed particular attention, and asked that throughout the treatment I inform her if the massage strokes were too firm or too soft. It was just perfect. The oil she used smelled so delicious and tropical, good enough to eat! My skin felt so soft afterwords and my body like jello, especially my neck, shoulders and upper back that never loosen up since i spend so much time at the computer! When the fifty minutes were over, I wished I had scheduled the longer appointment! My signature facial was good, not the best I have had, but far from the worst. I have become so accustomed to the "therapeutic" facials I receive at med spas that I had forgotten what a relaxing facial was like. My esthetician Laoka (sp? Sorry) was darling and kibbitzed with me about various new products in the skin care realm. She even sealed the deal for me on buying a Clarisonic . . . I had been on the fence for months and she tipped the scales in its favor! Overall, a three and a half out of five, based on the type of service and not the esthetician who was a five! I should have spent more time at Anara throughout the week and not waited until my last day to get pampered! Shame on me! Something to remember for the next time because I will be back, and I will surely know better. If you are a spa girl like me, don't deny yourself this experience! read more

Was awesome... I went for my post-marathon massage and pampering (don't knock getting pampered after you've run your first marathon... or any marathon for that matter). Some positing and some odd experiences here. Overall, A-OK. Massage very positive, facial, mostly positive. Couples package, very positive. Gym facility, positive. The unexpected bill . . not positive. The couples cabanas are private and in an absolutely beautiful setting, with the trees and rocks, bamboo and landscaping. Some less savory experiences were the sounds of cars starting and parking while in a treatment (I think some of the grounds are adjacent to a parking lot). That was not so relaxing and not so great. It was a truly awesome afternoon, I'd recommend to go at least once and go all out. But the next time I'm on the island and I want a little R&R, I'm going to go somewhere cheaper. read more

The salon is ok, but really overpriced. I get that they want to be high end, but they're just not. The entrance to the salon is through a gift shop, and one of them has to be an afterthought because they aren't clearly separated, and neither are spacious like the rest of the Hyatt. I got an updo, which turned out nice enough, and the lady who did it was totally wonderful, but, really, is 20 minutes worth $120? If you know of anything (legal) that's worth that, seriously, please let me know. My friend paid $200 for a mani/pedi, $100 for an updo, and another $100 for makeup -NOT including tips. She was put off that the mani/pedi was so expensive, especially for something SO completely average, and I just didn't have the heart to ask if she was happy with the rest of it. I also wasn't thrilled that when you pay they ask if you're "ok with 18%?". I prefer being asked if I was happy with my service and if I'd like to add gratuity to my card. read more

I had such a wonderful experience at Anara. I received a garden massage with Greg. I was escorted down to the garden area where I was able to sit and relax by a garden and waterfall with refreshments until it was time for my massage. Greg was kind and courteous and catered the massage to my needs. It was amazing to be outside (closed in while in session) and to listen to the birds and feel the fresh air. Afterwards I took advantage of the amenities in the locker room and used the outdoor shower. It was such a pleasant experience and definitely recommend it! read more
