Let me preface this by saying I visited Anchor Bar only a few days after they opened and I totally understand that they might still be figuring something things out. Stopped in for lunch on a Friday afternoon and there were a good amount of people. Was quite disappointed when the Anchor Bar Dip came very clearly broken. It was extremely oily and borderline inedible. The chips were also coated in oil. I ordered the "hotter" wings and was also quite disappointed in the heat level with these being their second hottest flavor. I've visited a few other Anchor Bar locations and always had a positive experience so I was quite disappointed with how this went. The Anchor Bar appears to be poorly managed, and I wouldn't recommend visiting until that changes. We visited The Anchor Bar for the first time on a Wednesday evening, excited to finally try their "world famous" wings. We arrived at 7:47 PM and were quoted a 40-minute wait using their text-based waitlist system. I'll note that the hostesses were very friendly, and while waiting we grabbed drinks at the bar -- the bartenders were great and the drinks were excellent. Our table was ready in about 30 minutes, which was faster than expected. However, it was confusing because roughly half the tables were empty and clean, and there were 5-7 servers standing around, so this didn't appear to be a staffing issue. Once seated, the frustration began. We waited over 10 minutes without being greeted. My wife went to the hostess stand to ask if we had a server. The hostesses apologized, and a manager who was nearby said he would find our waitress. Another 10 minutes passed with no one coming to our table. I then spoke to another manager and explained that we had been waiting 20 minutes without service. He also apologized and said someone would be right over. After another 5 minutes with still no server, we decided to leave. The entire experience was unacceptable. With multiple managers present and several servers seemingly available, it was disappointing that no one could even take a drink order. This restaurant won't be successful until the management team gets their act together. When I mentioned Anchor Bar being new in Frisco, my husband was excited to try it since he ate once at the original Anchor Bar in Buffalo, NY several years ago, and we are always on the lookout for a great chicken wing place. Sadly, Anchor Bar failed to want us to go back. We came during the last half hour of Happy Hour so each ordered one domestic draft beer and one of the appetizers that were on happy hour special. Here is where one major issue occurred after I received my tab. When the happy hour menu says ALL domestic beers $2 off during happy hour and our beers are brewed in the U.S., that is domestic beer. When I questioned the happy hour price not being reflected, I was told domestic means just Budweiser, Coors, Miller. So craft beers brewed right here in Texas are not domestic. Many other places we go to clearly distinguish which beers exactly are included in special pricing if not all beers or at least ALL domestic beers are included. The second issue that sealed the decision to never return was our food. We ordered the 20 piece chicken wings to split between us two. The menu says celery and either blue cheese or ranch dressing are included in the 20 piece chicken wing order. The waitress even mentioned the celery when she asked us what dressing we wanted. The celery did not make it on our plate. We decided not to say anything about this because not a deal breaker. But what broke the deal was that the blue cheese dressing is kind of pinkish and has other seasoning in it, so absolutely did not taste like blue cheese. And we got charged $1.18 for the dressing on top of the menu listed price of the 20 piece wings. I did not notice this extra charge until we got home because I was more focused on the $2 not being taken off each beer, and when I got told no on that question, I just wanted to pay and leave. The wings themselves were okay. Good amount of meat and sauce but were gummy and sauces in the medium category for heat were not especially spicy. Maybe being a northern based restaurant they are not aware of Texas spicy hot vs northern spicy hot. Finally, I find it interesting that three other Yelp reviews mentioned the sewer smell in the bathrooms. All other restaurants that have been in this location have had this issue, so clearly whoever is responsible should find a resolution because not a great impression for a restaurant. read more

We've had sadie every time we come in and she is the best. Works hard, takes care of her tables, and everyone else's and makes sure to have a good attitude while doing it, and I know it's gonna be a good time at anchor bar when she's my server! 10/10 recommend her as your server! read more

Been here a couple of times and enjoyed it. Today was a really bad experience though. We ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich with no blue cheese on it. We received the sandwich with blue cheese. We let the waitress know and she politely took it back. When she returned just a couple minutes later it was obvious they had just scraped the blue cheese off then refried the chicken. Still had the blue cheese taste to it. Let the waitress and manager know about our experience and that we won't be back. read more

The other review is ridiculous. They just had their soft open on Monday and they're expecting no issues on the 3rd day. Went for lunch on a Thursday of opening week. Plenty of servers and it was less than half full. Seated immediately and the server was prompt and friendly. The wings are just like the original location in Buffalo (I've been there). Big, crispy and delicious. Truly the original. Tots were perfectly cooked also - crispy and not greasy at all. A+ for their 4th day. I had a Bills shirt on and one of the visiting managers from the Buffalo location noticed and stopped by. Just an excellent atmosphere. If I had to complain about anything, I would say put more sauce on the wings. But I know they'll figure it out. Oh and please more Buffalo sports items on the walls!! Go Bills! This is a jewel in Frisco. I'm so happy Anchor Bar is so close to home. I'll be a regular for sure. Don't miss out. Go before the grand opening and there is a really long wait. read more

We gave this place 3 tries. First time, we understood the wait times. It was new, busy and of course learning curves. The second time, there was absolutely no reason to have to wait over 20 mins to be spoken to after being seated. The third time was the last time. We were seated and watched as several servers approached tables that had already finished their meals but completely ignored us. We sat for 20 mins without anyone even acknowledging that we were there. We saw one of the people, who claimed to be the manager, look directly at us 4 times do nothing about it. Of all customers are treated this way it no wonder why they were not busy the second and third time we gave them redemption chances. A place with so much potential but this is now the second time we've had to walk out. This time we showed up at 7pm on a Saturday - half the restaurant is empty - and the non-welcoming host says 25 minute wait. We sit down at one of the 12 empty tables to wait and a few minutes later we get chased off what seemed to be a server who basically scolded us for sitting down. I was expecting to give my order but instead got borderline yelled at and told to sit in the corner in front of my family. This is the second time we had to leave because of the customer service (the other time we were seated in front of the restrooms and waited 15 minutes with no server). My intuition is that staff is poorly treated there which means they poorly treat customers and losing business as a result. You just serve wings guys - can't you run a decent restaurant? Giving this a 2 only because the first time we went we loved the wings. So much so that we decided to order them To go since we live down the street. We found what said was their menu online for the Frisco location and called in the order. The man on the phone accepted our order, he even repeated it back to me before confirming. My husband went down to pick it up only to find when he got it that the receipt had completely different sauces and seasonings. He took it back to the host and the guy told him "yeah we don't have any of those sauces you ordered so I went ahead and CHANGED them out to what we do have"...WHAT!? First problem, why didn't he tell us on the phone when he confirmed my order that it's the wrong menu online, and second WTF without even saying anything when we picked it up. It gets worse... we get back home and they forgot to put the fries in the bag! Now the wings had gotten cold and we had to go back a third time to get the rest of our order. With NO apology or concern. Might have to wait for this place to figure it out. The kids they hired are killing the business. read more

We went in as a party of 6 on Friday night. When we walked in we noticed it smelled really bad almost like a sewer. Very strange and not exactly appetizing. We were seated on the patio. went here for the first time this sunday around 5pm. after the waiter took our drink order he came back and spilled a whole tray of drinks onto my 2 year old. never once apologized, never acknowledge my child soaked with soda all over his eyes and clothes. not one single person from upper management came over to see if my child was okay but took the time to ask the table behind us if they were "soaked". the service after this was god awful. my son's food was never put in, 1 chicken tender. Had lunch here about 11:15 on a weekday with four buddies. Sat at a high top table. Only two other groups here at the same time. Served pretty fast. We all ordered the chicken wings lunch special, which includes 5 wings, fries, tater tots or salad, and a drink. Waitress was pleasant. She didn't ask for our drink preference until I reminded her the special includes a drink. Although I ordered tater tots with mine she brought us all fries. Very apologetic, so she then had the kitchen also make some tater tots. All food delivered was hot and tasty. I got the original medium hot boneless wings. Middle of the heat scale. They tasted good, nothing to write home about; heat level seemed appropriate. Next time I'll take it up a couple notches. I got bleu cheese dipping sauce - again tasty but nothing to be ga-ga over. Fries and tater tots were hot and crispy, as they should be. She offered to-go cups with our drinks topped off. Very nice ambience. For only about $12 it was a pretty good deal.
