Ten out of ten evening. We decided on appetizers for dinner. The pita and dips was fabulous. We had the hummus, spicy feta and eggplant dips. Next we had the artichoke hearts, followed by the grilled octopus and calamari. Tons of food and one was better than the next. Not just passable food. Each had a special twist that made it stand out and exceptional. Our server was lovely and attentive. I highly recommend you give this restaurant a try. We will definitely be back! read more

Came her with the family and girlfriend for mothers day. Its a small place, intimate. Right on the canal in Seaford, which I'm sure will be pretty when it's nice weather. Since it was mothers day the menu was prix fix and came with one complimentary drink for brunch. The service was warm and inviting. We all got a few different items for apps and entree but they all were done well. Salmon was cooked well with crispy skin. steak was cooked well and good flavor, and their seafood appetizer, a stuffed pepper with seafood was actually stuffed with fresh seafood. Their drinks left something to be desired if you're actually expecting a nice buzz, but no real complaints. Their desert was really on point. All I had ordered was a parfait and I don't think I've ever had fruit and whipped cream come more appetizing than I did at Cardoons. Since they had a fixed menu I can't elaborate too much but I will definitely be back again. read more

I dine out. A lot. I had lunch yesterday at Cardoon. My friend was supposed to meet me there and bailed. I almost turned around to go home. I showed up at Cardoon at around 12:30pm and was greeting by the most gracious staff. Since I was by myself I opted to sit at the bar, ordered a Pinot Noir, and it literally took me 20 minutes to decide what appetizer I wanted. I opted for clams on the half shell. Not more than ten minutes later I was presented with the most beautiful presentation. Jason, the chef, also sent out the coriander crusted lamb ribs for me to try. I don't do lamb. Never have. But how can you refuse when a chef is so attentive and wants you to try his food? The lamb ribs were completely out of this world. I left nothing but the bone. The clams were the sweetest and most tender littlenecks I have ever had. I then ordered the calamari which was graced with lemon wheels, a beautiful emulsification of butter and garlic. Tender, beautiful presentation, and simply mouth watering. I also had the salmon cake. I also am not a huge fan of salmon. I've always found it to be too fishy. Not the case here. To end my meal I ordered the lobster two ways. Tails, claws, knuckles, in a beautiful sauce with pea shoots, pickled mushrooms and radish. Absolutely unbelievable. I thought I was full until I was handed a dessert menu. I ordered the Baklava funnel cake. I had to ask the bartender to take it away or I would have finished the entire thing. Unreal. My experience at Cardoon was one of the best culinary moments I have ever had. The food, the service, the staff, the view....do yourself a favor and make a reservation. Delish and very good service. All of the staff were friendly and very accommodating. They were able to find us a perfect table outside as long as we would finish in time for a party that reserved. The waiter suggested the catch of the day brought in by a friend of the owner. Believable assertion due to the small intimate space and waterfront location. Went to Cardoon with friends this weekend. 7pm reservation honored without issue and sat outside. Couldn't have been a better experience. I immediately spilled water all over the table and staff responded by completing resetting our table and taking my clumsiness in stride. Our apps and entrees were delicious and served promptly. My tuna special was outstanding and I can be a tough customer. It was so good I had to take a doggie bag. My one regret was that the espresso machine was not working so we couldn't have our desired cappuccinos. Desserts are limited and nothing appealed to anyone. Delicious seafood in Seaford! We went here as a party of 7 for my birthday and had a wonderful night. The Branzino and scallops were delicious entrees. The calamari was quite possibly the best I've had, and the grilled octopus was mouth-watering. Not the best curb appeal pulling up, but you'll quickly forget it. Went out with a group of six last night and was treated to a wonderful dining experience at this restaurant. All the staff were welcoming, friendly, and very efficient. The outdoor setting was calming and beautiful and the food was amazing. Each person in my party had a different entree and all were extremely pleased with their order. The food was well presented and prepared very professionally. The taste was out of this world. Broiled seafood platter, Grilled Bronzino, Lobster tail, made oreganato style (HUGE) , grilled swordfish, grilled salmon with a caper type sauce and the stuffed Montauk fluke with crabmeat, shrimp, and sautéed spinach ( my order) were the entrees we ordered and all were well portioned and paired with tasty sides. I felt compelled to write this review the very next morning so more people go and get treated as we did and enjoy a well deserved night out! Can't wait to go back! read more

Had dinner Saturday night. So disappointing. When we arrived at 7:45 they were out of grilled octopus and cuttlefish. Then out of salmon and something else. Asked if they could grill calamari since out of octopus. No. Then one dinner salad entree had no dressing. Had to ask twice. Gave one person wrong entree. They took at back only after side asparagus was on the plate so we lost much of that and had to wait for replacement order that was not grilled as well. I will never go back. I was hoping for more, especially after reading the reviews. But to be honest, between the small portion sizes, and not so small prices, the food was just average, if that. I had the chicken skewers, which were dry and maybe consisted of 6 or 7 small nugget pieces. (Think Chick Filet nugget pieces).It came with couscous, which I asked to substitute with their squash ratatouille, The squash was just chunks of undercooked squash and a few onions & tomatoes. Far from ratatouille in my opinion. My dad had the orrecchiete pasta with shrimp. It had good flavor, but there were only 4 shrimp. And for $30, meh...not worth it. The view is nice enough, we used to go there when it was the previous restaurant. And maybe it was an off night, but we will probably not go again. read more

Driving 11/2 hours from NJ, we went out to meet our very good friends from Wantagh for her birthday party at Dockside around 1:00pm. We sat outside on the deck on a perfect afternoon. Our waitress (can I call her that or is there another term I should use today) Megan was great. Welcomed us with a nice Irish (can I say Irish today) smile and asked what we would like to drink. Drinks came right out and she took our order. We ordered the pot of mussels marinara appetizer which was huge and outstanding. I had to ask for bread to dip into the extraordinary sauce but I finished them all. The four entree's, two warm lobster on a roll were delicious, a fried cod sandwich also delicious and the Broiled Fisherman's Platter was outstanding. Seaford, NY you're lucky to have such a great place to visit and enjoy the freshest of seafood. Note: it took us NJ folks almost four hours to get home last Friday afternoon. So, last Friday, we had the pleasure of dining at Cardoon Mediterranean. It was a beautiful Summer night so we chose to dine outside on their patio by the water. We arrived before 7:00 for a 7:30 reservation and were told we would have to wait until our reservation time. I didn't understand this because there were a few empty tables, but we were in no hurry so we got some drinks at the bar and sat outside at their lounge area (three park benches around a metal table). I ordered the Pomegranate​ Moheto which was out of this world while the three ladies we were with ordered wine. When it was time for our reservation, we were offered a table next to the building, which had been vacant the entire time, but we decided to wait longer to sit at a table by the water. We were glad we did. It was very pleasant watching the boats go by on the canal. I ordered the grilled octopus for my appetizer and it was prepared perfectly. The ladies ordered the ​salad which was very good according to them. Prior to getting our appetizers, however, we were not served any bread or asked if we wanted some water. We had to ask for these and it took some time before they were served. We then had to wait for quite a while​ before our​ entrees were served. Our waitress was very apologetic and said there was some miscommunication with the kitchen. We started to feel like we were the forgotten​ table. Nevertheless, I have to say that our waitress was very good and we held her blameless. Two of us had the branzino with lentil tabbouleh​ which was excellent! One of the ladies had grilled shrimp which was very good but it was served without any side dish. She would have preferred some grain or a vegetable with it. Luckily, we ordered the grilled parmesan corn appetizer with our entree and that was quite good. The fourth lady had the chicken souvlaki with french fries which she loved. In order to make up for the delay in being seated and the delay in being served our entrees, we were given a free dessert to share which was funnel cake baklava which seemed like an odd pairing but was absolutely out of this world! Highly recommended. All in all, we had a very enjoyable meal and we loved the quality of the food and the preparation and the ambiance of sitting outside by the water on a beautiful night. I would have given five stars if there wasn't a delay in being seated and served our meal. Nevertheless, we will be coming back for another good and hopefully timely meal. read more

I went here with my mom and my grandparents on Saturday for lunch. I think we went right when it opened because it was completely empty but we had such a good experience. Our waitress was extremely nice. She asked all of us individually how our meals were. The owner was also extremely accommodating. He made me a drink that was not on the menu. My grandparents were cold and he shut the fans off for them. The food was great. We started with clams and calamari. The clams were amazing and they gave us multiple dipping sauces. The calamari was ok, but i felt like there was more deep fried lemon than calamari and thats why I am deducting a star. My lamb burger was amazing even though it kind of fell apart lol. My mom loved her salad and my grandparents enjoyed their meal. Would go back again in a heart beat :) read more

Scenery was really nice, and staff was accomodating and nice! The food was also good, especially the appetizers!! Only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because their pasta dish, the orecchiette was eh. Wasn't bad, but just really plain: regular pasta with very little sauce and the chicken was just grilled, no seasoning. But that's alright, I'd still definitely go back, but would just order a different entree. Tried family members entrees, and all the fish tasted amazing! Also, heads up, make sure to make a reservation way in advance (about a week) if you want the outdoor seating! read more

Excellent restaurant! We started with eggplant meatballs and the crispy Kaitafi shrimp. Perfectly cooked, wonderful seasoning, tasty sauce drizzled on top. For entries we had the grilled lamb portershouse (cooked perfectly) and the halibut. The latter is not a fave as it is usually overcooked. Frankly, this was the best halibut I've ever had - absolutely, perfectly cooked. We started out sitting outside next to the water - just beautiful. It got chilly and the staff kindly offered us inside seating. Service was wonderful. We will be coming back. Kudos to the kitchen, the waitress, and the decor. read more

Went to Cardoon on a freezing Saturday night (8 degrees); the atmosphere was warm and welcoming as was the hostess/waitress. The food was delicious. Started with grilled octopus and it did not disappoint. My husband had the lamb shank and I had the Cornish hen prepared under a brick. Both were delicious. We also shared the beet salad over fennel and yogurt with crushed pistachios. What a treat from beginning to end. Can't wait to return to this little gem of a restaurant. read more

We are big Anchor down fans and were eager to try the new Anchor Down Dockside located in Seaford (previously Cardoon which I did not get to try). We came in for a table of two right as they were opening at noon on Friday. Luckily, we were there early otherwise I would definitely suggest a reservation, especially with more people. We were seated and ordered drinks followed by apps and put in our lunch order. The drinks and apps came out quickly. We enjoyed the mussels and wedge salad a lot. The wedge salad was not skimpy on the bacon, which was perfectly crisp. The only complaint for apps was we asked for bread to dip in the mussel broth. The response was they don't have bread. Five minutes later we overhear the table behind us who also ordered mussels and clams ask for bread to dip. They also seemed disappointed about the no bread. Finally, a mother came in with a little boy and said to her waitress, "he's starving can he have a piece of bread?" Luckily, the waitress did bring him some crackers. I understand this must be a concept/creative decision by the chef, but it doesn't seem to be well received in my opinion. After the apps we waited what seemed like a long time to get our burger and panini for our main course. We were seated at 12 and didn't get our main food until 1:10. No one even acknowledged us during that longer than average wait. We finally asked a near by waitress and she went in to check but never followed up with us. When we did get our food it was very good! The fries were unique somewhat of a cross between wedge and curly, but most importantly came out hot. The chicken panini was our favorite. Despite the wait the waitresses/hostess all seemed very friendly. Hope to try them again! read more

Great time today at Cardoon. We were there for a private party. Doreen and her husband were attentive servers. Everyone's dishes looked and tasted so good - standouts were the octopus, the escarole Caesar, and all of the seafood and fish dishes. We also had the most amazing carrots...sweet and spicy with honey and harissa. An inspired combo! Cheers to the chef! I think the menu is seasonal too which is cool - because the photos from other reviews all were slightly different (variations, like gigante beans instead of fingerlings with the octopus, etc.) from the menu we got. read more

First visit to Cardoon and we are fans! We went early on a Friday night (6:00) and almost left because the restaurant was pretty empty when we arrived. The hostess convinced us to stay and so glad we did. We really enjoyed everything we ate. Since we were there for a quick bite, we kept it pretty simple. The grilled octopus appetizer was outstanding. Then we had the lamb burger and the crispy cod sandwich. Both were fresh and delicious and were served with crispy shoestring fries. We also had a side of the gigante beans with sausage which my husband couldn't get enough of! Too full for dessert tho. The only thing I would change is an upgrade of the wine selection. Mediterranean Cardoon...greeted by a very youthful fun staff. They all seem like they're feeling their way through a new process, and thats ok. The place is after all, only a couple of days old. The first feeling you get is...finally...a place on the water, I can bring my boat to and or drive to, thats not a half hour away on Merrick Rd traffic. Tucked away on a little street in Seaford, there are tables outside(which we weren't able to sit in because of the rain), and tables inside in a quaint rustic setting. We started with a glass of wine for the wife, and the true test for me...a properly made Hendricks martini, strait up with a twist. The bartender aced it,as it was perfectly done. We asked if there were any specials, and the waiter said not yet, but everything is great on the menu. We ordered the 3 dip app( Hummus, which was smoky, and delicious, eggplant, which was roasted, peeled, and pulped wonderfully, and the firey feta dip, which the waiter said was his favorite, and I think I agree with him...done well, with a smooth finish, spicy, and yet not over the top). We also ordered the octopus(which I'm a sucker for, wherever we go), and it delivered, with a beautifully braised meat, charred nicely, served with fingerling potatoes, and caramelized onions...) Oh so good, and when the owner came over, after he saw it was on our table, he went through where he bought the octopus from, and his whole process of prep...a nice touch. For the main courses, my wife opted for the Cornish hen(under brick cooking, deboned, with only the wing bones left in), cooked beautifully, with a nice array of Mediterranean flavors, ranging from hints of oregano all the way to the back end flavor of cumin...she was raving about it, and I tasted it, and whole heartedly agree. I opted for the signature burger, served with haloumi, pancetta and a ramp pesto aioli. I asked for medium rare, and thats exactly how it came out, and all the toppings just added to the goodness. We kept it gentle on dessert, just going for chocolate gelato, but on our next return, i'll delve into that area a little more. I'll say that what brought us here was the promise of the same owners of Anchor Down creating a restaurant of equal flavors and service, with a Mediterranean twist, and not only did they meet my expectations, they surpassed them.
