So it is true the XLB (Xiao Long Bao, chinese pork soup dumpling) is as good as Din Tai Fung, but the price also closed to DTF. However, you do not have to drive across town to have DTF XLB anymore. For people who does not know what XLB is, I will explain it in laymans term. XLB is one style of a chinese pork dumpling where they made it with steamer to bring the juice out of the meat and the skin of the dumpling is made to not let the meat juice escape the dumpling. So when you bite into the dumpling, you will feel that you are slurping the dumpling with soup, but the taste is so concentrated that the flavor remains and the skin of the dumpling remains chewy and not soggy. For people who are on the fence to try it, please try it. You will like it. There are many places in Chino who sells XLB, but not as good as this one. Now, the only drawback, some of the waitresses only speak Chinese. But you don't need to talk alot, just point on to the menu item and they will be able to get it right. We came on a friday night with a party of 8. It was very easy to find seats and the restaurant was moderately packed. Parking was easy in the lot but google maps might take you to the back of the building, which is slightly confusing. We ordered the pig ears, some noodles, the crab and normal xiaolongbao, fried dumplings, and cucumber. Overall, the noodles were ordinary, and the xiaolongbao and dumplings were very good. Not only did the waitress didn't call our name, she just seated the people who waited inside (even though they came in after us). There were only 2 parties before us and we waited for 40min, because they shut half the place down, like other reviews mentioned. I mean they have some items but it isn't the typical dim sum place The XLB was meh for me. The "soup" was oddly thick and a bit sweet. The braised pork noodle was completely bland. I had to use the sauces on the table to try to make it somewhat flavorful. The only dish that was really tasty was the shanghai noodle which I recommend for you to order if you do decide to give this place a try. My kids loved it even with the minced pork mixed in. We were in the shopping center & noticed a sign says Dim Sum restaurant. Since we had not dim sum for a while. We went in without checking Yelp for review or photos. Excited to try this place and we enjoyed it. As expected no dim sum carts. We ordered what others ordered on Yelp. Pork XLB, pan fried pork bun, Shanghai noodles with shrimp and garlic cucumber. All was good and too much for two so we had leftovers. This is where there was a small misunderstanding. We asked to take the remaining dishes home and our server who was new and very sweet misunderstood and didn't realize we wanted to take it to go. To be clear this wasn't a language issue it was absolutely just a misunderstanding. What I have to believe we're the owners offered to replace and make full new dishes for us to take home. We were really so full and told them it wasn't necessary. They went above and beyond and continued to replace several of the dishes! Wow!! If I can give this place more than 5 stars, I would. This place is almost comparable to Din Tai Fung, except the wait. The food is all super tasty and feels authentic. This isn't your regular dim sum place, however it does serve dishes that you would get at DTF. People need to try this place!! New restaurant in chino hills. I visited on a Wednesday night and for a table of two we were able to be seated right away. We ordered the pork xlb, garlic cucumbers and the crab dry noodles. The pork xlb take about 20 mins to make since they are hand made fresh to order. They were nice and hot but on the salty side. The crab dry noodles were great, filled with lots of real crab. Cucumbers were average. They only offer light vinegar but I prefer the dark black one. Also, they charge $0.25 for ginger to eat with your xlbs, which is usually given with your xlbs. Tried this place for the first time last week and everything was so good!! The interior is so clean and nicely decorated and even being understaffed the waitress was very kind. When we went they had just two tables open for dine-in so we were lucky! Had the xiaolongbao, pan fried pork buns, cucumber salad, and honey walnut shrimp. I think all the dumplings are handmade to order and the dough is amazing! It's made to order.. so you bet your a** it's going to be FRESH.. so yes it may take a lil time but mark my words it is so JUICY and soupy and flavorful AND hot AF. (Burned my mouth so good Bc I stuffed the whole thing in my mouth and let it squirt... ) So be careful. I also tried to Crab XLB which was its perfect seafood brother counterpart. The pan fried pork buns- They make it just like the street vendors in Shanghai!!! The twisted part of the bun facing down with sesame seeds on top. Crisp to perfection and super DUPER JUICY (so juicy it squirt once during initial contact and again on the second bite) The Shanghai style fried rice cake they use is not like the Korean rice cakes that clump together into a chewy hard mess. This place makes it so soft and so light it just melts in your mouth with crunchy pickled veggies paired with sautéed pork shreds and ginger. BOMB. Shanghai Style salted pork and veggie on rice in clay/ metal pot- this was really one of my favs Bc they made it exactly like how they would in Shanghai with the soup on the side. The soup is super flavorful Bc of the way the pork is salted. It pairs perfectly with the rice and you can make it into a rice soup depending on the consistency you want. Most places just has the sticky rice by itself. This place really hit the nail on this dish. Yan Du Xian soup- If you are from Shanghai.. THEN YOU KNOW WHATS UP WHEN IT COMES TO THIS SOUP. This place makes the pork bone soup so concentrated with thick pieces of bamboo and knotted Tofu and Napa cabbage/ veggies. Very Huge. Generous. Portions . Totally different consistency than the soup with the salted pork rice. You can taste the richness of the pork in the soup without it being too oily either. A must try if you're a soup lover. Finished the meal off with dessert.. Sesame balls in fermented rice soup. The sesame balls were perfect. Not too sweet not too doughy. Just frickin perfect. You can also taste the fragrance of the fermented rice with every bite. My grandpa who has not gone back to Shanghai for over 10 years said the taste floods back so many memories of him stepping out from his apartment- starting the day off grabbing breakfast pork buns and well into the evening grabbing dinner after a long day of work. He then demanded we are now responsible to take him here EVERY WEEK AT LEAST ONCE. NO EXCUSES (He initially said we can come three times a week.) If that's not enough of an approval from a local himself, I don't know what to tell you. The place is named "& dim sum". If you're looking for the traditional tea and Shui mai / ha Gao / ladies tracking food in carts around the restaurant ... don't bother. For our family of 3 adults and 3 young kids we ordered: 2 XLB **** (good, thicker skin, but moist) Cucumbers in garlic**** (refreshing) Popcorn Chicken***** (one of the best I've had) Veggie over rice*** (my dad ordered, skip) Fried noodles with shrimp***** (subtle in flavor) Shanghai rice cakes with chicken*** Although it's not even close to the mind blowing gastronomic gold of DTF, it's local. Hidden little gem this place is, I would have been coming here sooner if I knew it was there. I ordered 3 things: pork soup dumplings, shrimp & pork soup dumplings, and shredded pork fried noodle. It was all very good, I especially loved the dumplings. You get a good amount of dumplings for the price and a huge portion of fried noodles. I started eating the pork soup dumplings before I remembered to take a picture so there's only two in the picture instead of 8. I called in the order due to Covid but they did have some inside diners when I picked up my food. Service was fast but friendly. May be world's best pork bun(小籠湯包）place. Juicer, meatier, and richer then Din Tai Fung or any other places. We have had pork buns in at least 3-4 continents in the world, this place seriously wins in the pork bun dish. Their rice cake is also super tasty. Our kids love both. The hostess always is friendly and willing to help to customize based on our preferences. She also was kind to offer to bring food out to our car at times when we have little kids in the car and is difficult to go into restaurant for pickup up. We order takeout from here regularly. I lived in Shanghai for 20 years before coming back here. This place is so banger the food literally tastes better than what I get in Shanghai.
