I had my truck towed to this garage because I was having trouble starting it. I had ordered a new computer a week prior and it was running great ....they said my computer was not getting a read so I went by and picked it up to return it and get another so I brought the next one in and they said it wont run for more than 10 min. I really never felt like they wanted my business in the first place ,so I towed my truck home again " they charged me $250 for diagnostics " then I towed my truck to a certified garage and they said that this garage had taken apart one of my connections and spliced some wires then wrapped them in electrical tape!!! It cost me more money just to fix that...my truck is good now no thanks to this garage. read more

Arrived today to get a state inspection done. Walked in wasn't acknowledged or anything. When guy behind counter was finished with lady customer you would think he would say can I help you? No, I had to make first move and told him what we needed (inspection sticker) and he rolled his eyes and said keys and insurance and I told him we were getting the insurance paperwork. He then took car to back and coincidentally the person I was with and talking to, I told him of the guys attitude and that places like this business don't really make anything off state inspections so they usually try to find some way to make money! Well, sure enough he comes in and says it needs a side bulb on the side of the car!?! Not even included in what is required to be working. I then asked him is it necessary and his smart response was of course or I would not be telling you. Then proceeded to say something about having to tear the fender off etc. to repair it! Wow! Anderson Garage has wonderful service. Carlos replaced my car trunk lock which kept popping open, replaced the vacuum switching valve which caused the "check engine light " to come on, and even replaced the dead car key fob battery without being asked. I know nothing about automobiles. When I contemplate the inner workings of my vehicle, I sound like Phil Hartman's Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer: "I wonder...do little demons get inside the engine and make the spark plugs fire? I don't know. I'm just a caveman. My primitive mind can't grasp these concepts." I suspect that several auto shops have exploited my apparent diffidence with all things automotive and charged me for unnecessary repairs. I've never gotten that feeling at Anderson Garage; they charge a reasonable fee to fix only what I need. Anderson has come through for me on multiple occasions. I've relied on them for oil changes, state inspection stickers, leaks, AC issues, and weird little anomalies. Earlier this week, for example, I couldn't get my brake lights to turn off. I assumed my car was possessed by a vengeful spirit a la Christine, but Anderson diagnosed the real issue (nothing demonic...or so they claim) immediately and charged me only $40 for parts and labor. Ancira Nissan once charged me several hundred dollars for a few minor repairs, so $40 sounds like a bargain to me. I've read a few complaints regarding Mike, the guy at the front desk. He's not "rude" or "awful" as others have claimed. He just has a flat affect and a matter-of-fact attitude that some folks apparently misconstrue as curt. I'm neuroatypical and appreciate individuals who eschew disingenuous small talk and get down to business, so this fellow is a-ok in my book. One Yelp user labeled Mike a "raciest." I see no correlation between racism and Mike's refusal to issue a state inspection sticker, so I must conclude that the word "raciest" is a pun related to auto racing. My trusty 2002 Nissan Sentra seldom needs work (I drive like Lewis Skolnick's dad in "Revenge of the Nerds"), but I will continue entrusting it to the fine folks at Anderson Garage whenever it does. A little shop like this with minimal signage depends on repeat business and word of mouth, so they must be doing something right. read more

Very pleased with the courteous, efficient service. They listened to my concerns and made recommendations that were exactly what was needed to be done. They estimated the work would be done by the next day. I asked them to also look at the brakes to let me know their condition. They called me the next day to let me know the work was done. They advised that the brake rotors were warped ( I noticed a slight vibration when braking) and recommended having the turned some time. I told them to go ahead and turn them. I've been here three times twice for brakes on different vehicles and once for a noise I was worried about. The noise problem turned out to be something very unimportant and they didn't even charge me. The second set of brakes were quoted at just under $250 (including whatever rotor work) but when all was complete the total was just under $200. The gentleman manning the counter had a seemingly uninterested way about him but I think it's one of those "once you get to know him" situations. I've been going to Anderson's for 14+ years after a friend recommended them to me as a newcomer to San Antonio. Never have I experienced anything but spectacular service and honesty. For example, I requested a tune up on a Kia Spectra only to be told that "all looks good," and they didn't even charge me for the time it took them to check car's systems out. In past experiences, there's ALWAYS been a charge and/or several things that "had to be done." Recently, I had some work done on my Mazda5's brakes. A few months later, they were acting up again, so I took it back as it was on a guarantee. After checking it out, they recommended my taking it to dealer as it seemed to be a problem they weren't 100% sure they could properly fix (talk about honesty!!) Furthermore they re-reimbursed the previous amount they had charged so I could put $$$ toward dealer's bill. Dang :) Anderson Garage Rocks. Always professional. Always reliable. Always upfront and sincere. Always there when one of our 4 cars has a problem. Gotta love these guys. read more

I've had Anderson garage work on my vehicles for about 10 years now. Sean is an expert with my 97 power stroke. He knows more about it than Ford. They have worked on my wife's Mercedes, my daughter's Ford Fusion, and my newer F-150. They are very honest, never do unnecessary work, and fix things quickly. The one bad review I read is incorrect. The guy at the counter isn't named Mike and even if he were honestly mistaken in the name, he still is wrong about them. They are decent people. The garage is employee owned. I don't get the negative review at all & have always been treated with politeness & respect. And I am a woman plus Hispanic. My car started to suddenly "dip" in power & would only move at a snail"s pace. Suspected solenoid issues thanks to Google & YouTube. My car was beyond disgusting as I have huge dogs plus helped transport. Due to severe injuries, I had not been able to clean my car in months, Even I hated getting into it. They were beyond kind and understanding when I called them to explain my mortification about my car. He said not to worry and they loved dogs and they were welcomed! Turns out had low oil (IDT the prior shop fully replaced as I drive very little). And while I never mentioned the solenoid issues, he mentioned they were concerned about it when they did a test drive but after checking all, just needed an oil change. And I had asked them to check the hoses & do a quick check overall & they said all was fine. We all know they could have taken advantage & charged me for a much larger/unneeded repair as I wouldn't have known otherwise. And unfortunately, that has happened in the past at other shops and so I was incredibly grateful/almost in shock when the entire bill was under $90!! (There is a highly recommended garage that charges either $80 per half hour or per hour just for their labor. Won't mention their name but are on Prue & Babcock). Also, they were so gracious when I took my Rottie and even gave her a treat. And months after that, I swung by yesterday to see about dropping off the car today and one of the first things asked was how my dogs were doing. This time around, the engine is making a strange noise & I didn't even bother trying to diagnose it using Google/You Tube & I am not worried in the least as far as what they come up with because their expertise & honesty is that reassuring. I also know I won't be pressured to do anything I can't afford & so for the first time in my life, I am actually not stressed about my car going to the shop. And that is beyond priceless. read more

Anderson Garage is a small building that is slightly set back from the street, meaning you're very likely to blow right past it without ever seeing it. But thanks to the power of Yelp, I was able to find a great resource for auto repair. I inherited a 1999 Ford Ranger that needed a lot of work (electrical, suspension, transmission, air conditioning, etc.). Based some highly informative reviews by trustworthy Elite Yelper Eric F, I decided to give Anderson Garage a try. I called them and arranged to bring in the truck on the Friday afternoon before Labor Day--with the understanding they wouldn't even look at it until the following Tuesday. They called me back on Tuesday afternoon with a detailed breakdown of recommended fixes and a $3700 price tag--which was actually very reasonable for the amount of work that needed to be done. I gave them the go-ahead, and they said it would take "a few days" to do the work. Much to my surprise, they called me on Friday to say that all the work was done. Even more surprisingly, the total bill was now less than $3400! I have never before had a job come in at less than the estimate--astounding! So Anderson Garage did a ton of work on my truck--quickly and for a great price. And the truck drives like new. These guys are the real deal. Check 'em out! read more

This place does not deserve a star. The service was over priced, and Mike very rude when I asked why the oil change was so high? He is a raciest, and threaten to fail my car inspection. Not because something was wrong, but because he had a right to fail any car he choses. He did fail my car from looking at it, so he said a light bulb was out and that was enough for him not to do an inspection. The light was not out.. He is a Awful, awful, just a awful person to deal with. I went to another place, and the car immediately passed inspection. read more

Was a customer of Cambridge Auto, but even with a USAA discount they were always VERY pricey!! When I had an accident, Art's Paint & Body had Anderson Garage do the mechanical work on my vehicle. I have been a customer ever since!! I've been back multiple times when my car needs service and they are always honest and very reasonable!! When there was something that was too expensive to fix....they told me so! They didn't try to sell it to me like many shops would!! It is a smaller garage, so don't expect an overage of mechanics sitting round waiting on cars! They are busy, but are good about telling you when they will get to your car and they keep their word!! I wouldn't take my car anyplace else!! It's hard to find a shop you really trust, but you can trust them! I sure do!! read more

Horrible customer service- VERY rude! We have been long time customers of Cambridge Auto which can be pricey. Their work is awesome but just cost a lot so we decided that when I needed new brakes we would give Anderson a try since they were supposed to be a "family" operated business and thought they should be able to get the job done right. So I dropped my car off first thing in the morning and was told it would be ready same day. The man at the desk was by no means an overly friendly person (no "good morning, how can I help you" kind of person) I left and went on my day. Around close to 2pm, I called and asked the person who answered for a status on my car. I was told that he was just finishing the paperwork and was going to be calling me within the hour. So I waited a little and then headed over. When I walked in, the man at the desk asked me what I was there for and I told him that I was there for my car and understood it might not be ready just yet and would wait. He looked annoyed and said okay. After an hour and a half of waiting I asked how much longer it would be since I was told the car would be ready within the hour when I had called. Right away, the man got ugly with me and told me that I misunderstood him and that he meant he was just getting ready to call me with a quote and that they hadnt even started on my car. I could not believe it. What made me the most upset was his attitude towards me. He was so ugly and acted like I was an idiot. I got up and called my husband outside. We decided not to have them work on the car. When I went inside and told him this, he told me (of course with an attitude) that he didnt understand why I was so upset and that he never told me the car was ready. Let me get something clear....I understand their could have been a mis-communication, and that he accidently led me to think the car was ready. What makes this situation so infuriating was his attitude and lack of customer service the ENTIRE time. Had he genuinely apologized for the mix up I would have had my husband pick me up and left them to finish the job but they lost our business and anyone elses that I can spread the word to, because of their horrible customer service and rudeness.
