This place brings back memories of Hughies in New London in the 80's and 90's for me. The Love Salad in that wooden bowl is spot on and Nonas Meatballs should be world famous. The service has been absolutely fantastic every time we go. They are always friendly and helpful. The decor makes you feel like you are somewhere special and the bar area is beautiful. On the way out take a look at the old menu from Hughie's. (The boxing glove.) Vinny Paz would be proud... If you know, You know! I haven't found anything on the menu that I didn't enjoy. The food wasn't great but wasn't terrible either. We had the veil parm, chicken parm, baked clams, and shrimp scampi. You can definitely get better dishes at other restaurants or even at home. The sauces were greasy and bland for each dish. David was our server and was very dismissive and rude the whole time. I'm not sure if he had a bad night but he wasn't attentive and kept making rude comments as he was walking away. I gave two stars because at least the espresso martini was delicious and all of the other workers were very friendly and polite! read more

I would leave a 5 star review but I've only been to this lively new restaurant once and consistency is important too. This is a refurbished Friendly Ice Cream parlor and they did a fabulous job. It's laid out very well with a large bar area set apart enough to the louder area doesn't interfere with diners. The menu is well thought out, not too many entrees and not too few. It's a nice balance. Service was very good, from the welcoming hostess, to both servers. Our reservation was for 5:30 and we were seated immediately. Our primary server was friendly, well organized, and fast. He slowed slightly as the evening progressed but that was because the dining room filled up and it was completely understandable. The pre-dinner drinks were delivered quickly and the two martinis were well made. The two white sangrias were not as successful. They were on the sour side with the addition of only slices of lemon and lime. There's a reason they are usually served with sweeter fruits like peaches, nectarines, and cherries, to provide balance. For dinner, we had two orders of the pork chop and peppers, one veal parm, and one chicken piccata. The pork was perfectly cooked and well presented. My cousin said he would order it again but without the balsamic drizzle because he is more a fan of the vinegary peppers. The veal parm was delicious. There was a very good balance of crispy veal, mozzarella, and sauce. The veal remained crispy just the way my Father likes it because it wasn't drowned in sauce. He choose rigatoni as his pasta side and loved it. I saved the chicken piccata for last. It was undoubtedly the best I've ever ordered. Tender, perfectly cooked and seasoned. I choose spaghetti as my side pasta and it was amazing. The portion sizes were enough so I had a lovely lunch the next day. For dessert, we shared the donut which was fantastic and big enough for two. It was really a lovely meal and the prices were fair for the quality and portion size. So, if you're a fan of really excellent food with an old school Italian restaurant flare, this needs to be on the list of places to visit. Let's start with appetizers. Because I'm clearly 12 years old, the cheesy garlic bread with home made marinara is amazing. The chicken parm portion is huge, enough for my 18 year old and I to share with leftovers to bring home. 3 of us arrived for an early Father's Day dinner around 6pm, no reservation. Greeted warmly. We were seated right away. Our server was friendly and professional. We ordered an appetizer first: Nonna's Meatballs ($15). Scrumptious! They disappeared quickly! I ordered the Mystic Cioppino ( menu said shrimp, cod, and clams.) It arrived with all that plus little octopuses (4) - tentacles & all- and also calamari rings. ($32) I gave my husband the tentacles, but enjoyed the rest. The sauce was delicious, but on the salty side. Great seafood!! My husband ordered the Baked Rigatoni Al Forno ($28), and my daughter had the buttered spaghetti ($12). Best meal we had all weekend. Andiamo kind of looks like the 'after' version of a Restaurant Impossible episode. Set next to a Howard Johnson and with a dull red paint job, you're not expecting much. But go inside and wow. Huge dramatic crystal chandelier, red booths everywhere, and tin ceilings, the owners definitely went for the rat pack vibe. The music reflects this as well. Service was pretty good. Got a negroni which was up there with some of the better ones I've had; thus I had another. Bread was crusty almost to a fault, and the herb butter complimented it well. I got the lobster pizza special (lobster, lobster cream, shallots, grated cheese) despite not being totally sold on it. The mix of seafood and cheese is not my thing, and I generally am underwhelmed by restaurant pizzas. While what I got was more flatbread than pizza--a long boring discussion not worth going into--it was also really freaking good. Lobster portion was generous. The lobster cream worked well with the shallots and the very restraint use of cheese. The dish was more about delivering the lobster to your mouth in an efficient and tasty way, but I would get it again in a heartbeat. My wife loved her pasta primavera, which was on the cheesy side. Wish they didn't prep their chicken in butter as this limited what my son could have (ended up with pasta in garlic and oil), however he was being such a nightmare it's not like it would've mattered. Glad that I gave this a shot versus one of the stuffy seafood places in town. Much better vibe for families, food is great, and it's a reasonable value. Bravo to the mini restaurant group that is prevalent around this area; they could easily be lazy and turn out garbage for the tourists, and instead they're doing a stellar job of adding diverse and legitimately good options! read more

Holy moly...the food was AMAZING!! It's been a long time since I've been so impressed with my food. I'm gluten free and they are so accommodating. I had the arancini, risotto (which was mind blowing) and salad with chicken. They messed up my chicken and without me complaining..,they immediately comped my wine. Portions and wait staff are the reason for my 4 star rating. The food is closer to a 3 star, with the exception of the veal Marsala which is like a 4 star. Pizza was good, but the crust is sub-par, extremely flat and no real flavor to it. If they adjust the crust, the pizza would be on the good deal/must have list. read more

My husband and I travelled to Mystic for a mini getaway. We really were looking forward to having dinner here. The ambiance and service was good overall. I was mostly disappointed with the dishes we ordered. The cod fish salad I had was very fishy and the portion was very small. My husband ordered a pizza with spinach and artichokes. It seemed like it was a frozen pizza. Artichoke dip slobed on the pizza. Not fresh. I asked for sparking water and they delivered a bottle of Saratoga spring bottle already open with no bubbles. What an awesome new addition to the Mystic dining scene! Your italian Grandma would approve. First, the meatballs are sooo tender and delicious that you must try. I also loved the fra diablo dish I had for a main course and my friend said the pork chop was the best they've ever had. The 3rd in our party had the chicken parmesan and said it was tender and cooked to perfection. She's since been back to get it a second time. You must get the cannoli and tiramisu for dessert- just superb. Finally a place that has something for everyone and gets all the classics done right!We sat at the bar which is huge and comfortable. I decided to go vegetarian in 2024, this along with my dislike towards mushrooms limits my options at Andiamo but I'll still call it my favorite local restaurant. Nothing can keep me from a garden salad with their garlic vinaigrette and a bottle of saratoga. I also love they have a reward system too. I didn't even realize I had enough to cover a take-out order. Although I'm not fond of ordering takeout because I love going in and talking about how I can't believe it used to be a Friendly's. Had lunch there on 9/26, there were 5 of us total. We were given menu's along with lunch specials menu. The menu itself had a wide variety of starters to entrees. We each of us had something different and didn't disappoint! Spaghetti and meatballs were very good as well as the meatball grinder with the love salad as a side. We asked if we could have eggplant parmesan dinner instead of rotini and the chef agreed. Well that didn't disappoint either. Great portions on everything we all had.
