Best diner - would order anything here from Greek to fresh seafood. Always delicious and fresh, friendly staff good prices

Let me tell you a story: I took my little sister here one day for lunch. She ordered veal parmesan. What came on the plate looked like it had just been unwrapped and microwaved. All that was on the plate was piece of meat covered in a sheet of cheese... you couldn't even see if there was actually sauce. She wouldn't eat it and I had to say something. The manager (or owner, not sure) came over and goes, "sweetie, have you ever had veal before?" We were both offended and shocked that he'd be so condescending. He cut into it, and the meat inside was bleached white. We're both still not convinced that that best was 100% veal. My sister still couldn't eat it, so she ordered a 5$ grilled cheese after he continued to give her a hard time. Then, when the bill came they said they had to make us pay for the 20$ veal parm my sister didn't even touch. Worst diner experience I've ever had. read more

Andrew, it's over. First thing first, your wait staff is completely lacking server etiquette. A refresher course on hygienic food handling and hand washing would be in order before the department of health shuts you down. Waitresses are seen coughing in their hands, touching their nose, hair & hats, and adjusting the hem of their pants all while handling food/ hot plates/ condiments. Get it together! What an upset. They even kneel one leg onto the bench of a booth seat while talking to customers. I don't even want to talk about the food because the service was such a turn off. When my mom got sick with cancer this became our go to place for home cooked flavor with great service. She has since then passed away. But whenever I am on the Island and need a quick bite this is still my go to place. Everything is always fresh. The portions are quite large and the service can't be beat! Even when we went there between wakes with a Party of 35 they accommodated us and served us quickly without rushing us out. I Can't think of One bad thing to say about this place. read more

Hands down the best diner on the Island. The food is absolutely amazing. I get the buffalo chicken wrap with the steak fries and it never disappoints. When I leave review for anyone, I like to be honest and straight forward. This restaurant simply didn't do it for me. I ordered for delivery, came a little over an hour later. When I called to check up on my order, I got major attitude from the lady on the phone. My food came cold my food tasted like something a person would buy from a frozen pack in a supermarket. One of the best diners here at Staten Island. The place is a great diner that had massive meals at decent pricing. The wait times even during peak hours are okay but the manager makes sure you are still there and not ignored in the back. It has a decent selection of things to get and I feel one of the best sampler platters appetizers on the island. This place is one of my main choices to go when I am really hungry. There is sadly only one huge problem with this place. That problem is there is a waitress who is nice as can be. The problem is though she is a horrible waitress. It pains me to say it since she is so nice, but she is just bad. She forgets orders, forgets checks, forgets drinks. The last time I had her she didn't write down my order so when the food came I was without a meal. It doesn't matter if the diner is crowded or empty she does this constantly. The place is either racist or they have "preferred" customers. To seat us took forever but everybody else that came AFTER us got to sit first. The hostest or manager didnt want to talk to us compared to how she was asking everybody else that needs to be seated, we had to constantly ask if she remembers that were still waiting to be seated. Then gives u a sarcastic answer and facial expression... Wait staff are friendly but the server for that night either was dazed out or was just way too busy to remember our order. Kept forgetting what we ordered. Food was presented really well and thats it. Taste was either too salty or too bland. Their chili was DRY! Wrong ingredients and dressing in some of their salad. We will be ending our 19 year love of this diner. For 19 years we have called Andrews our favorite diner. The owners are family friendly and the staff has always been great....but something has changed. The past 6 months we have noticed a terrible change in the quality and the service. Every time we have gone lately the staff are rude and careless. With the exception one or two waitresses, the others are always miserable and rude. On top of which, the mistakes on orders has become the norm. Cheese when you say no cheese, egg whites instead of regular eggs, your burger cooked to the wrong temperature...oops you asked for steak fries? Sorry we forgot to tell you we don't have those anymore..so we will just give you these...you payed for hash browns ? Oops we sent you home fries...and honestly I understand things in the restaurant industry are difficult post-Covid....my husband is in the industry...it's a struggle...but the uncaring attitude lately of the staff and unfortunately the owners....whom I believe have no idea what is really going on lately as I've also noticed their absence...has lead us to search for a new favorite. I really do love Andrews diner. I've been going to Andrews for years. Unfortunately, they raised their prices so much that it's just not affordable for a Diner. I was excited to see their new menu and when I opened it, I was very shocked to see their new prices. I went for lunch with my husband and spent almost 20.00 per person just for a wrap and fries. Best dine on SI. Everything always tastes great and is fresh. It's not your average/typical diner, great specials too.

When it comes to diners, my go tos are Mike's Place on Hylan, the Colonnade on Hylan, or Andrews. All depends where I am on the island and what time of the day it is. Andrews has some pretty good diner food though. Decent burgers but my favorite here is their greek chicken wrap with grilled chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, feta. so good. Their fries are yummy too! in a small stip mall so Parking here kind of sucks if you're there during the day. read more

Awful!! Do not order from here! I ordered in past to promote our local business, and was good.. last two times absolutely terrible.. ordered egg omelet with zucchini platter and asked for extra zucchini to substitute for potatoes and toast, I got 3 pieces of zucchini on top of like 2 egg whites! After the family was turned away from another restaurant on Staten Island (wont mention, not worth it) we said eh we are on this side of the island now, lets go to Andrews. Well, let me say this. Never go anywhere else if you're on the Hylan Blvd side of the island. We had a less than five minute wait on a saturday night. the place was packed to the gills. They made no complaints when we told them five people, put a table together for us and seated us. Water appeared and a waitress in less than five minutes. drinks were ordered and promptly delivered. We placed our orders and began with the weekend specials which come with soup AND salad and entree and dessert. all items were delivered quickly and when there was a slight issue of time, the waitress came right to our table to say its a busy night and she apologized for the wait. All the food was amazing!! Very well prepared and the dessert choice was anything that was available. All in all a wonderful meal. Thank you Andrews Diner!! oh and the food was phenomenal!! My go to place for nice Sunday breakfast (their home fries are BOMB). For those looking for a healthy choice, highly recommend the Waldorf salad with raspberry vinaigrette (either with grilled chicken or steak)...it is to die for. The quesadillas are also on point. When we first realized Andrews delivers we were so excited, but after ordering a few times we were more and more disappointed. Don't get me wrong the food comes as soon as you hang up the phone, but something is lost between the kitchen and our front door. The fries are either burnt or soggy, usually you get the wrong condiments and sometimes even the wrong meal. If you call them they will come back and try and make things right, but that happens after everyone else is done and you picked at everyone elses meal and just aren't hungry anymore. Eating in the diner is always nice, and it's one of the best diners on staten island, just don't order take out... You will probably be disappointed. read more

Standard diner food, just be careful when ordering 3-4 + dinners for delivery. If you enjoy eating in shifts with different pieces of your order arriving in 1 hour + intervals, it's fine. But if you like to all eat together as a family, make sure you check the order before the driver leaves and pay by credit card so you have a recourse for reimbursement when they don't get things right. read more

I've been a frequent visitor ever since this diner has opened. This past Tuesday night will be my last time ordering or dining in this diner. I ordered a Reuben the meat was bad and had a horrid smell. So I returned my dinner to the kitchen, ordered something else. (No big deal) Upon checkout I let the hostess know what happened and how disappointed we were. Her response to us was "not our fault, everyone tried the meat in back and it's fine" and continue to belittle us as she took our credit card payment. Non the less I wish I could give this place zero stars but it's not an option, but an absolute disgrace of a response to a customer. I wish no ill to anyone but this place needs a change fast. A perfect meal Everytime. Tonight the wife and I had the Romanian steak with 2 stuffed shrimp. Perfection!!! Awesome local diner. They make you feel like family. The food is uniformly, reliably good, and they have a remarkably wide selection. One person can get a seafood salad and the other waffles. Try the blueberry pancakes, the broiled fisherman's platter, or the Waldorf salad (that comes with these yummy little balls of fried goat cheese, unbelievable!). Thursday's soup is split pea. My family members LOVE this place so I had very high expectations last night ::cue the glass shattering and people screaming sound effect :: The parking lot annoys me because there just aren't enough spots. The interior of Andrew's is at best "weird." It has an old people/doctor's office/haunted house charm. Maybe it's the wallpaper that really bothers me or maybe I am still bitter about sitting in the OTHER ROOM. There was clearly seats and booths available in the main room, hostess why did you take me to the room on the left and seat me right by the kitchen, if i would have pushed my chair back i would have been in the kitchen fixing up salads with a bunch of Filippo's reminding me of jack's bistro of 3s company... talk about a non-relaxing dinner, swinging door in and out, repeat 100xs, make noise, mumble stuff, etc... I ate with my jacket on because it was cold and I noticed a few others in the place doing the same so it wasn't just my seat nor my old age... Onto the good stuff, the food itself... Bread basket to each table - Good stuff, bring big purses ladies, big crackers, melba toast, bread sticks... oh please you will thank me if you are ever trapped in your car and about to starve. The bread was soft, was NOT yesterday's and the waitress did not give an eye roll when we asked for more... French Onion soup - Meh, i have had better, I appreciated you because u were warm though and the mozzarella on top was tasty but for the rest of it, no hidden mozzarella inside the soup? on the bottom? one whole chunk of bread inside the soup that i had a hard time even cutting into with my spoon? again, not ideal... Cream of Anything Soups - you are delicious, small but very tasty. Salad Dressings - seem to be homemade, creamy balsamic and creamy Italian both yummy, but come on that's not hard.. Now who goes to a diner and doesn't order cheeseburger deluxes? My family of course... so Penne with vodka sauce and grilled chicken it is... This was super yummy, the sauce was perfect, i suddenly felt like I wasn't at a diner... finally! The chicken chunks could be less chunkier but no complaining here because the thick vodka sauce makes up for it all... I heard great things about the rice pudding, but I didn't get a chance to try it - i was too stuffed to taste anything else (see Rice to Riches? I really do love you and I can be loyal). The service was very good, the waitress didn't smile and made me feel like i was asking stupid questions but she still did her job and was very attentive - I can't blame her serving is a hard job... I think I saw the owner going to a few tables and saying hello to the regulars, he looks like a genuine nice person, which is odd in Staten Island... Also, I do not like when I have to get up to pay the bill and come back to leave a tip on the table... please can i just leave the entire bill on the table and you figure it all out? you even get to keep my change...
