We recently had a celebration of life luncheon for my mom who passed away . it was at Angela's Kitchen... they were so accommodating, it was perfect. Angela, Vivian and I'm sorry I don't remember the names of both of the servers ..one was Christine and I do not remember the others name. They were fantastic . So patient and accommodating especially to the elders that were in attendance. We had plenty of space, the food was excellent the drinks were great. The Happy Hour prices at lunchtime helped a lot. The prices were very reasonable and I appreciate that we were able to have this celebration of life for my mom at her favorite restaurant. The restaurant is spotless and has a nice view. I'm still a fan 7+ years after writing my previous review, and eat there every month or so. Things have actually gotten better recently. Went there one night last week as part of a group of 5. Our server was a young man who seemed fairly new, but he was definitely on top of things: 5 different drink orders, 5 different entrees, some ordered wine with dinner/others did not, plus 2 separate checks and he got it all CORRECT! Staff was accommodating to one guest with a wheelchair and another with a cane. Server was good about getting all the meals out at the very same time and checked back with us without being overbearing. Oh--and all of us liked our meal choices very much. It's hit or miss here. The food is excellent but the service can be pretty bad. We waited over 25 minutes after ordering for food to arrive. And another 15 mins for her to bring the check. Sadly, I need to update my review of Angela's Kitchen. After two very positive dining experiences, our experience today was anything but. I attribute this to the management. There didn't seem to be any today. First of all there was complete chaos at the desk. There were tons of people waiting to be seated and a room full of empty tables as well as enough staff to serve those tables. Yet no one was being seated. When we finally were seated and got our meal, our steaks came out well done instead of medium and medium rare. We sent them back and they were replaced by steaks that looked like they had been defrosted in the microwave and then placed on the grill for one minute on each side. These steaks should never have left the kitchen, either time. Where was the chef? Was there no oversight at all? Our waitress tried valiantly to save the day but that was beyond even her ability. There was an art fair at Sun City Grand today, so more people than usual for a Saturday afternoon. But this event had been on the schedule for weeks and should have been anticipated by the restaurant. It could have been a bonanza for Angela's Kitchen, but instead lots of people left, and those of us who stayed wished we hadn't. We won't be returning any time soon. read more

Totally disappointed. First exposure -the hostess - loud and boisterous -anything but gracious and kind! Waitress was minimally engaging -seemed in a hurry. One appetizer was hummus -it was watery, and over loaded with garlic. The items served with it was not well thought out. My salad, a Ceasar was tasty but no shaved Parmesan cheese. We've been coming here practically every Sunday for the last 2 years. Always had outstanding service and the food was always delicious. Tonight was the total opposite of what we are accustomed to. We ordered the calamari for an appetizer. Got about 12 skimpy little undercooked rings and no artichokes which normally come with it. Usually 2 different sauces are with it. A red and a white sauce. We only got some sort of red sauce that was nothing more than catsup with some garlic powder mixed in it. Was told they haven't had any white sauce for over 2 years, unless we wanted tartar sauce. Hmmmm. They had 2 sauces last Sunday. Needless to say, we sent it back. The house salad was pretty good. I ordered the beef lasagna. Got about half the portion they normally give. Asked for bread with it. Got 4 small cold pieces of white bread with frozen butter. We will not be making this place our usual Sunday go to restaurant anymore. Very disappointed tonight. All the staff is new now. Don't see any of the old staff there anymore. Apparently the cook is new also. He should go back to being a substitute cook at a soup kitchen. read more

I loved the ambience of this place, beautiful restaurant with beautiful views, that's why I'm giving this 2 stars. However, the food is comparable to hospital cafeteria food. I hate saying that, but it's the truth. I had their walleye with mashed potatoes and vegetables. The fish was dry and gamey, the mashed potatoes were like powdered instant mashed potatoes, no seasoning or even butter. The green beans were likely frozen. I wouldn't go back because the other 2 people that I ate with ordered different things than I did and their food was also not good. read more

Visited with family and friends. EXCELLENT service and a beautiful dining experience overlooking the golf course water features. Weather was perfect last night to be on their patio dining room. I enjoyed my crabcake appetizer. It's complimentary with two entree purchase and a Yelp check in. Awesome :) My son tried their grilled cheese, but he didn't really like it. I think it was missing butter on the bread as it was grilling. I saw several items from the menu as it was served and the French Dip and Pasta seemed like favorites. The fish and chips was a bit greasy I overheard. We had one friend who has food allergies and our server and chef were SO accomodating and helped create a dish she really enjoyed safely. Overall, a pleasant dinner because of the staff care and company, and a perfect place to bring out-of-town guests. read more

WOW! What a surprise, We use to eat hear when Dillons what at this location. Have not been back here since they moved. Wife over heard someone talking about Angela's, they said the food was pretty good? So we ended up trying Angela's for the first time! Well, It's now one of our favorites in Surprise. We first had their BBQ ribs appetizer, very surprised by how tender it was but also it had a crunch? Turns out after they slow cook their ribs, and the meat actually just falls off the bone. They deep fry them before serving, never heard of this before. And it worked. Wife had the BLT, not much you can do with a BLT. But it was very good. Overall we had a very good time. Service there was great, manager came by and said hello. This is going to be one of our regular stops. read more

They just changed the menu and took off a lot of favorites. They eliminated mussels, crab cakes, sandwich wraps, and Mahi mahi. Changed the mashed potatoes with the pork chops to a yam. Took off half of their sandwiches - now they offer 5 burgers. This is a rather upscale restaurant , why 5 burgers ? Used to make a good chicken salad. Now that is gone. I don't like the new menu. I definitely won't be dining there as often as I used to. read more

Had such a positive experience before we wanted to return. Our second visit (this time for dinner) confirmed this is an outstanding restaurant! Exceptional food - well prepared and to order. Sizeable portions and great service from an experienced wait staff. My husband had the beef stroganoff and requested 'no mushrooms' and it was prepared accordingly. I had the salmon with mushroom risotto - fresh vegetables were green beans and they were excellent. Risotto was perfect and our plates came from the kitchen piping hot. We split the chocolate cake with ice cream - it was tasty, just not exceptional. Would highly recommend you give Angela's a try! read more

I will try this restaurant again eventually; however, not for a holiday or special occasion. My husband and I went for our 34th wedding anniversary. We made reservation for 6pm for New Years Eve more than 3 weeks in advance. At that time we were told the schedule was wide open. We got there 30 minutes early thinking we would have a cocktail before dinner. At about 6:20 (we've been there an hour now) the hostess came to us and told us she did not know when she would have a table for us. People were showing up late, people did not have their entire party present so they couldn't seat them and others finish eating, pay their tickets and sit their forever and would we mind just sitting at the bar which was crowded and extremely noisy. We said No, we would not be sitting at the bar. I told her maybe those people who are late or aren't ready to be seated should wait or eat at the bar. Her only response was "We are doing the best we can." Funny 10 minutes later, I saw 2 people get up from a table and I just waited to see if we would be seated. We were. Food was delicious and our server was great. So all ended well. But they were very disorganized and seemed they were giving larger parties priority over couples. read more

Been here a few times and the food is pretty good. But today the service has been awful. It took 30 minutes for us to get a drink and our dirty table wiped down. After 45 minutes I went to the manager who did not apologize and said our food would be right out. After a few minutes she brought our soup and when we asked for silverware she was snarky. After a hour we finally got our food and it was cold. So we just sat there for a hour starving and waiting to be served. I have not had this horrible of service in a very long time. The hand cut fries were to die for Meatloaf, pork chops and fish and chips were very good as well Creme brulee , apple bread pudding and peach panicotta , all home made were light, tasty and well portioned This is a family business , not a corporate chain that is worth trying and coming back! My wife and I come here every once in a while and it usually ranges from fair to pretty good. Last night we came with friends who had not previously been here. Our server, Brianna, was excellent. The view of the ponds and golf course very relaxing. We had chicken parmasan, liver and onions, ahi tuna, and fish & chips. My fish was a little over breaded but I still liked it. The liver was slightly overdone. Otherwise it was all good and we all cleaned our plates. In my opinion the prices are fair. read more

I took a friend to lunch at Angela's on 9/22/22. I was pleasantly surprised at the very nice location, the lovely view onto a pond and the golf course, and the nice ambiance. Finally, a restaurant that wasn't so loud you couldn't hear one another! Our waitress was great, she was very patient as we chatted and shared a craft before we ordered lunch. I had the crispy ribs, and my friend had the chicken caesar salad. The salad was a very generous size. My ribs were an appetizer, but came with a lot of ribs. The ribs were served on a bed of cole slaw which was very tasty. The ribs were nice although I felt they were over-cooked, being a little too crispy. For desert we had apple pie ala mode, and chocolate cake. Both were delicious! the cake came with chocolate syrup draped over it which, if I had known, would have eliminated it as the cake was very rich. I would definitely order it again. I would definitely come again, and would recommend you give this place a try. Our bill came to $60 with tip and beverages. It was plenty of food. read more

Has been a regular spot for us for years. But quality keeps being compromised for ease of preparation or a move toward poorer chain fare. Going from fresh french fries to a disgusting batter dipped frozen french fry? (and why does a starch need another starch batter on it??) Please, consider returning to your better quality french fries rather than becoming just another unmemorable chain establishment. read more

Some times this place is petty good BUT, it is inconstant at best. It drives me nuts, the food can be good but it can also be over cooked, under cooked and the portions size is a real crapshoot. Fish and chips, 2 pieces, 3 pieces and some times 4. Other items like Wiener schnitzel can be large or it can be small. The same can be said of other menu items. The green beans are not cleaned. Then there is the service, some waitresses are super BUT there are a couple ( one in particular) that is just horrible. So if you go there good luck. If you have a good experience don't be surprised if you go back and it really sucks. read more

Attended a private birthday party at Angela's for over 50 people. The service was "spot on" for beverages, the appetizers were served individually to each table hot and delicious plus the entrees were tasty. This is usually a go to spot for my in-laws. My husband & I have been here several times with them and the food it usually good. Last night I went alone with my in-laws & the experience left much to be desired & I think it might have even left my in-laws reassessing their go to location. When we got there this place was packed, I just can't understand why. We were sat at a table crammed in between several other tables, & we were lucky if we had 2 ft. of space between the other tables. My father-in-law doesn't have much to say on the topic of Covid but even he said "I guess social distancing isn't a thing here. These tables are so close together." To witch my mother-in-law agreed, as did I. I have some pre-existing health conditions which leave me more at risk. We would have sat outside on the patio but it was much to cold last night. It was as though the owners don't think Covid is a thing the way they packed the tables in. I understand Gov. Ducey removed capacity limits but this is just ridiculous! My MIL asked to be moved to a both & she was met with a snarky reply "We're really busy I'll see if I can get someone to clear it." A few minutes goes by & we see 2 people clearing the table, once done we go & sit down. They return & explain they are under 21 & can't touch the EMPTY wine glasses & EMPTY wine bottle & they'd have to get someone to remove them. Someone who I think might have been the FOH manager comes to clear them & sighs then & says rather loudly under her breath "You know you really shouldn't have sat here yet! This table wasn't cleared all the way." I almost said "If the tables weren't so crammed together as if Covid weren't a think we wouldn't have felt the need to sit here but I bit my tongue. The service so slow too, painfully slow. A table was sat after us & got drinks & their dinner's before our drinks even came out. My FIL ordered the Filet Mignon Medallions and he said they were tough, gristly and over cooked. I ordered the prime rib and it was definitely not something to write home about. My health is more important than going out to dinner getting and getting a side of Covid. I unfortunately don't believe I will be returning. read more

This has been our "go to" restaurant for the past three or four months. We've always had excellent service. We usually get the same waitress on purpose. The food is usually great and the menu is quite extensive. Valentines Day, however, was partially great and partially a disaster. Hence, the low rating. We were a group of four with a five o'clock reservation. We were promptly seated and our order was taken in a reasonable time by a waitress I didn't know. Our drinks and appetizers were served in a good time. As a special note, the calamaris were a treat "to die for". We were expecting a great evening. We finished the appetizers at about five-thirty or five-forty five. We then began to wait for the main course. I was really looking forward to my chiopini. At about six thirty, our table began getting restless, as did some of the tables around us. At 6:45 we'd had enough. We hadn't seen the waitress for a while and our food was nowhere to be seen. We and at least two other groups then got up and chose to leave. I paid the bill for what we had eaten and drunk and we walked out. It was Valentines Day. They were crowded. There was plenty of wait staff. Either the kitchen was grossly undermanned or totally unable to handle the crowd. At least our waitress could have come over and offered us something while we waited. We were so happy with the appetizer and my wife's French onion soup that we'd have gladly waited a little longer if we had something to let us know we were soon to be fed. My wife and I will still go back, but only at times when they're not crowded. read more
