I have been here a couple of times. The food is absolutely delicious and the service is good. Angelina's daughter is very nice and we were served by her the last two times. The Caesar salad is one of the best I've ever had!

3.5 Yelps (really wish there was a half star option for reviews..) My friends and I stopped by yesterday for a 5:30 reservation to check out Angelina's, and it was definitely not necessary - completely empty at our time on a Thursday. Angelina's is a cute, quaint Italian *cash only byob* The food was solid, service fell short for me (especially compared to Connor's review). I didn't find the staff to be engaging, attentive or personable at all. It took a very long time between dishes to be attended on, especially since we were the only ones in the restaurant - until the end of our meal where there was one other table. However, it's on par with the service in Italy so maybe that's what they were going for - very authentic service in that case Our bill for 3 came to $113 pre-tip. My friends thoroughly enjoyed their farfalle with smoked salmon rose sauce. I enjoyed my gnocchi - it was well balanced with the burrata and mozzarella tomato sauce, and gnocchi was a great texture. I also tried the chicken parm which was solid - but nothing that hit that "extra" mark for me. I think Angelina's is a perfect neighborhood cozy BYOB spot, but maybe not somewhere I'd go out of my way for - we just have such great Italian spots all over this city! And service left a bit to be desired for me.

Not special. Not exciting. Not a lot of fresh choices on the limited menu. Nice. Attentive service. Started with the Cesar salad which was good. Crispy romaine, taste of anchovy was well balanced. Then had the gnocchi. It was shaped like a playdough log cut up. Texture a bit like playdough too-gummy. The sauce was uninspired, gooey cheese in a pureed tomato sauce topped with parsley (???). The lemoncello cake was a winner. The space is tight and a bit awkward. The music was in Spanish, not Italian so gain ambience is odd. BYOB. So many places that go above and beyond, this one seems to be coasting.

Angelina's seemed very authentic and quaint. It's a small restaurant that I think tries to pay homage to Italy in a "noncommercial/American" manner. Once you enter, the kitchen is right on the left and you can see the chef cooking the dishes. I went with a couple of friends who got the calamari, gnocchi and chicken parm. The calamari was well seasoned and the gnocchi used fresh heirloom tomatoes. For my entree, I had the Salmone Farfalle which was incredible! I typically have shrimp with my pasta and salmon for a change was definitely worth it. It was so good, I wish they gave more! I was done my meal after five bites. Reasons I'm taking off two stars... The restaurant has no sign or lettering indicating it's called Angelina's. We guessed it was Angelina's due to two black and white pictures of two women eating pasta posted through the window wall. The owner came back from smoking outside and he walked right past our table into the back. I didn't appreciate the whiff of cigarettes as I was conversing with friends and enjoying a meal. I got the Insalata Formaggi as an appetizer which contained arugula, pear, walnuts and various italian cheeses. It was drenched in dressing! My entire mouth and lips felt brushed with oil. I was unable to enjoy the other ingredients of the salad.

Can I give more then 5 stars?!?? From the amazing people and atmosphere to the unbelievable food it's an experience that is a must. This quaint restaurant brings me back to my GREAT GREAT Dora Ricci's kitchen, back in the 80s when she would be cooking up chicken cutlets when I was in diapers. Her amazing recipes were since passed on to my grand-mom and my mom which I have be so blessed to partake in over the last 30 years. And I thank Michele, through help of her mom Angelina, for allowing me to relive my childhood and life through this angelic food! If you haven't been, you MUST GO!

AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING. Perfectly executed carbonara. Al dente pasta Creamy sauce Pancetta bites Spices & cheese Every single noodle was perfection. Also don't be fooled by the $$$ dollar sign!!! It's closer to $$ (but I think more expensive for the average Philly restaurant). Either way, the quality here is WORTH IT.

My friends and I came here for an early dinner during the workday. It was alittle difficult finding the place since there was not a clear sign. This really was hole in the wall restaurant! I was excited to try it. For appetizers we got a bunch of different things to try and share. My friend got a salad, I got the fried calamari and shrimp and my other friend for gnocchi. The fried calamari and shrimp was very good! Very fresh and I like the seasoned breading. The gnocchi was very good as well. For entrees my friend got the chicken Parm (menu was organized the Italian way with apps., Pastas then meats/seafood) which was huge! Easily great for a few meals. Me and my other friend for the salmon farfalle pasta. Pasta was good and had bits of salmon in it. I wish there was a little bit more salmon in the pasta. I got the tiramisu for dessert because I can't resist a sweet ending to a meal! Tiramisu was very good. Overall a good meal and dining experience :)

Angelina's only came on our radar when we heard that our church was doing a fundraiser there - we heard Italian and BYOB, and we were sold! We made reservations for a weeknight (to support the church) without issue. Angelina's is conveniently located in Bella Vista, and it is a small spot in what feels like an old row home. The restaurant has good vibes, but since it is so small, I could see how it would feel crammed on a busy night (we were seated close to the kitchen, and we could hear some of the bustle from there). Our server was super kind, giving us helpful recs on dishes and being very friendly (appropriately so). We started off with the beef carpaccio, which was quite nice - the beef was thin to avoid loading you up before dinner, and the asparagus and cheese were nice accompaniments. For our meals, I went with the gnocchi and my husband for the carbonara. My gnocchi was delicious - I could tell they were homemade, and the sauce was decently light with whole tomatoes in it to be a nice vehicle for the gnocchi themselves. The serving was pretty generous too! My husband's carbonara was way lighter than others we've had, but this did not compromise the taste. He enjoyed it! We were pleased to enjoy a complimentary homemade biscotti at the end of our meal, which really sealed the deal. The price points were decent too, and being BYOB was a great touch. Angelina's is a good Italian spot in the city - the food was pretty solid, but with the high number of Italian restaurants in Philly, it's tough to put it at the top. I would recommend Angelina's for a small date or get together if you're looking for a BYOB in Bella Vista and quality food that doesn't break the bank.

A very cozy, authentic-feeling Italian restaurant. I enjoyed the carpaccio appetizer, but the rigatoni was not my favorite. My partner enjoyed the bolognese and said it wasn't too creamy. Service was decent, nothing outstanding. I would return for a casual date night!

Can this restaurant accommodate large parties?

Nope! The restaurant is pretty small. Also, a large party would disrupt other diners. Take the group somewhere else.

From…read morethe speakeasy vibe of the restaurant to its South Philly culinary inspiration, it was an amazing meal that we'll always remember. We ordered a number of things to share family style - - The Artichoke Francaise appetizer was something we'd never seen before on a menu, so we wanted to try. It was so good and I'm still trying to dupe it at home for my vegetarian hubs. - My husband is a eggplant parm connoisseur, so we also ordered their Eggplant 'Parmigiana' appetizer. He said it was good. - Ricotta Tortelloni was delicious and our favorite savory dish. The aged balsamic cuts through all the richness of the cheeses perfectly. It was so good! - To round off the meal, we ordered dessert and ordered the tiramisu. Glad we did because Giuseppe's & Son's has the BEST tiramisu that either of us has ever tasted. Ava was our waiter that evening. She was the best! When I mentioned my husband was vegetarian, she made sure to clear with him if certain ingredients in the dishes were ok with him. It's a big relief whenever that happens when we dine out. Plus, she was friendly and convivial. The tables at either side of us liked her too. That quality is important and adds to the overall experience for diners. Just had to shout out. Giuseppe's is hands-down a wonderful place and a gem. We highly recommend it if you're looking for something truly special.

The meatballs were served 4 in sauce small to average size meatballs were good, soft and flavorful. The mozzarella was a show pulling it tableside from curds to a full 8oz ball finished with salt , pepper, and flavored olive oil. Dinner we ordered three Italian specialties. Chicken Milanese that was served with shaved Italian cheese and arugula. One vela parm which had the perfect ratio of sauce to cheese. The third meal was a basic bolognese that was served with mafaldine pasta. Entrees were all good. We also added the truffle pasta option for the table which was also prepared tableside with the cheese wheel and shavings of fresh black truffles was a perfect finish. We also had a sharing side of gnocchi with sauce. All in all we had a solid meal. It wasn't the best Italian I even had but it's good. The total was 336 for three with 2 rounds of drinks . This is pretty good for center city fine dining.

Everything was as perfect as it could be why is that because this restaurants been doing it for over 126 years they know a thing or two their customers and had to prepare plate delicious meals. Our server, Justin came over to greet us. We got into some conversation before we even touched upon the food. He was exceptional at his run through the menu, his explanations on preparations handling questions. This was definitely not his first, not his second and not his third rodeo he's definitely a professional at what he does. Upon review of the menu we started off with steamed clams and a spicy marinara and actually asked for fra Diavlo hence they gave it an additional hit of spice. It had a nice kick. It was very tasty. My wife was going back-and-forth between their signature lasagna and a little weak weenie with crab Bianco and in the end she went with the baked lasagna oh my goodness the size of that piece on the plate we took half home. She certainly enjoyed her. For me, I went with the veal Catherine, the medallions veal with shrimp, lump crab meat, and fresh tomato and a Bianco sauce the plating presentation I can't describe you'll just have to see my photograph. I've never seen it like this before and it was extremely tasty. Very tender I would certainly get that dish again. And since I am not a pasta eater, I ordered a side vegetable of broccoli Rob. And we ordered a bottle of the Italian Montepuliciano wine, what was the perfect compliment to our dinner? And this was my birthday. My wife was surprising me she had already pre-ordered their homemade tiramisu with ladyfingers, which would wind up taking with us cause we were kind of full and had later that night at one of our favorite coffee houses in Philly and boy that dessert was perfect and I'm glad we waited.
