It's a high school hangout that somehow manages to produce decent food for teenagers (who don't understand how good they have it until its gone). And as crazy at it may sound, I graduated from CRLS about 14 years ago and the prices have not changed that much...the food is cheap! I don't know how they do it. Don't come here for the pizza. I was fooled by the high reviews which I gather are for the cheese fries and the nostalgia of youth. The pizza was decent - good sauce - but a bit too doughy and the cheese not of the best quality. Much better pizza to be had in Harvard square I think. I did love seeing the neighborhood kids flood in during a downpour to ask the guy behind the counter for plastic bags for their books, which he readily gave. If you go to CRLS, you will know this place and the guy who works there, the pillar and the spirit of Angelo pizza Louis! He is a cool funny guy who always remembered me. After i graduated I havent been back for roughly six or seven years, but when i went back he still remembers me, I was amazed lol! Ok enough talking about Louis, lets talk about the food and price, it is good price, I cant find any place like this with this price in the area, the portion is huge(for some people) and the food is tasty! just one small complain, because Louis is the only guy who works there most of the time, if you want to order something for pick up by phone, it depends on your luck. If he is busy, he wont pick up the phone. I called ahead for pick up orders, 5times he only picks up the phone one times the the chances for him to pick up the phone and take your order are slim. so if you have a time constrain or you want to grab and go real fast, then Angelo is probably not a good match. however if you do have time to wait around 5-20minutes(depend on what you order and how busy during that time) then you are good to go! I would definitely go back once in a while for childhood memories, great price, greasy tasty food, pick up the phone, and for the love of Louis! read more

Lou is one of the nicest people I met and he will talk to you while waiting for your food. Also cheap prices and huge portion sizes. 2 dollars for a bag of fries or chicken sandwich or burger with fries 4.50. Cheese fries best thing at 3.75(its a tin of fries with a fist fills of mozzarella thrown on top and baked until melted and you have their famous cheese fries. The high school joint to hang out in. I used to live on Harvard Ave, and when there was a laundro-mat a block away, my room mate and I'd come here and grab some fries. Their cheese-fries are the best in town. If you are into Velveta stuff, then this isn't it. Basically, a pound of fries is scooped into a tin container, fist full of mozarella is thrown on top, baked for few minutes and you have Angelo's cheese fries. I know, we all should grow up and eat more sophisticated food, but sometimes, nothing beats cheap, fattening, tasty food. If you want something different, shell out $5 for the lasagna dinner. Last time I got it (few months back), I swear he threw in couple of pounds of it. (Then again, I've know the guy for 10 years so he tends to be more generous). No ambiance whatsoever, but amazingly tasty food made to order *fast* at rock-bottom prices make this the best taste-to-cost value for pizza in all of Cambridge, if not the entire greater Boston area. This place is pretty much only open during school hours and is often flooded by students from the adjacent high school, but the high sell-through means the pizza is always super fresh. A slice of cheese (just $1.75 as of this writing) is already kind of perfect, with a crust that is not too hard and not too soft, sprinkled with tasty cracked wheat. The slices are also huge and not nearly as greasy as you might expect. But one of the best parts about this place is that if you order toppings (for an additionaly $0.50 each), they put totally fresh toppings on top of your slice, right before your eyes, and then melt them into the slice by throwing it in the oven for a minute. The freshness really makes a difference! I also highly recommend the chicken sandwiches ($3, any toppings you want for no extra charge), and the oft-mentioned cheesy fries (add bacon for a triple threat). Now I know I said there was no ambiance, but if you go here often enough. you will find that it starts to really grow on you. It's so refreshing to find someplace this unpretentious in the middle of Cambridge. Lou (the guy who is there most often), is a beloved Cambridge institution who has worked here for at least 30 years and still remembers people who went to the high school decades ago. If you want super tasty pizza and related offerings served up fresh and fast for as cheap as it gets, this is the place. The salad is fresh, with iceberg lettuce, zucchini, tomatoes, mushrooms and other goodies. Most importantly, the salad comes with TWO freshly baked pita bread steaming from the oven. They literally stick them in the oven when you order. They also give you a small cup of caesar dressing. It comes in a large styrofoam tray that restaurants use for burger plates, and it's enough food to fill an athlete. I will trek out of my way to bring friends from out of town here for lunch. Lou, when a customer asks you about what you're preparing on the grill as they haven't tried it and couldn't get a good angle over your 4 foot plus counter, you shouldn't say it's (exact quote) "horse meat". I know you're trying to be a wise ass, but what a jerk thing to say. Do you really want your other customer's thinking it's horse meat? For your rude and jerky comments, I review Angelo's customer service to be of a failing grade.
