Came here to celebrate a friend and their accomplishments. Unfortunately, both bartenders (a woman with a pierced lip and a man) were not very friendly. We weren't even greeted, despite the place only have 3 people in it. They were rolling their eyes anytime we asked a question regarding menu items. The woman also talked badly about us to other locals. The ambience here is dark and nasty despite the drinks being very tasty. Seemed like they did not feel like working. Personally do not feel like the forced 20% gratuity was warranted. The service was not very warm or welcoming. Won't be coming back here. Very disappointed in my visit here a few weeks ago. We wanted to support a woman-owned whiskey bar so we made a reservation online, and walked in and stood awkwardly at the entrance before seating ourselves at the bar. Not a single person greeted us. When we said we had a reservation, the response was just "oh, okay" and then they just plopped down menus and walked away without any other words. This seemed to be the theme of the night, as we saw many people hovering awkwardly at the entrance waiting for someone to acknowledge them. As a whiskey lover, I'm always excited to check out the whiskey selection at a whiskey bar. Their selection here is large, but nothing super special. I didn't see any single barrels, picks, or allocated bottles - not even a Blanton's. I didn't see many barrel proof bottles either. So we decided to get cocktails instead. Besides the nonexistent customer service, this is the main reason for my bad review. $20 for a cocktail is on the higher side but what's unacceptable is if you give me my cocktail, and it's room temperature. If you are marketing these as craft cocktails, they should be cold, balanced, and hopefully delicious. My cocktail was lukewarm and super sweet without much flavor - almost like drinking warm juice. I'm guessing the bartender built it in the glass instead of a mixing glass but that definitely killed our mood. We got 2 appetizers to share - fries and some fried cauliflower. They were decent. For 2 cocktails, 2 appetizers, and a beer, we ended up paying $100+ which is a lot of money for a disappointing date night. read more

I came here as soon as they opened on a Thursday and was immediately impressed with their drinks. I typically hate Brussels sprouts, but the ones they make here are something I will definitely be dreaming about for a while. However, there were a few items I really wanted to love but, sadly, didn't meet my expectations. The California figs were a major letdown--they need something extra, perhaps honey or some spice, to enhance the flavor. In my experience, they were quite bland. I felt the same way about the cauliflower--meh. On the bright side, I loved the mussels and the Caesar salad--they were very delicious. We sat in the outside patio, and it was really nice. Placed our order and had to wait long time for the food to come because apparently there was only 2 cooks in the kitchen. - there was a set menu but was not shown to us for what ever reason. Really disappointing. Visited on a Saturday night and no one at the host stand and only 2 people at the bar; should've been a hint since 2nd street was packed with people for the holidays. He went up to the bar and simply looked at the menu there with no offer of service to provide it to him. The bad service was a consistent theme. I asked about beer and was told it was on the tv above the bar, but, I'm seated inside a booth facing the opposite way; no bother to provide some work around. After 2 rounds of drinks server was visibly annoyed that we weren't ready to put food in. We were the only group there at 7:30 on a Saturday night and it felt like they didn't even want us there. We ordered food, but, I kind of wish we hadn't. The wings were way undercooked; one of them was nearly raw inside. Absolutely disgusting. I won't be able to eat wings for a while after that. Bacon and brie sandwich was ok. Steak sandwich was ok. Fries were good. But overall we just wanted to leave. I feel for this location and I think the concept is good. Came here with the wifey for a late lunch. Our server Cindy did a great job recommending a few items on the menu. I had the pork belly sandwich and wifey had the butcher burger.
