Went there with a friend for the first time for breakfast. The first thing I noticed was how dirty the exterior of the building, the windows, door and walkup was. Upon sitting down, we both noticed that the silverware had a dull film and did not look very clean. The condiment bottles on the table looked like they had not been cleaned in years, with a lot of grease and fingerprints from hundreds of past guest on them. Very unappetizing. The tabletop was pretty clean in front of the seats, but obviously has only been wiped in that area. The surface near the filthy condiment tray was also filthy and sticky. The water served had a chemical or soap taste to it. Now for the simple breakfast. I ordered eggs over medium because I can't stomach runny eggs; they came with runny egg yoke and had an odd odor to them. The pancakes were OK, but unremarkable. The bacon appeared to have been precooked in advance. It was dry and lacking flavor. With how dirty the owner keeps the part of the restaurant you can see is, I have to wonder what the standards are in the back where you can't see. I don't want to know and so will not risk dining there again. I know this establishment has fallen on some hard times due to a recent fire, but there is absolutely no excuse for not keeping the premises clean. read more

Pancake Heaven!!! They see you walking to the door and the table is set and ready with waters when you walk in. The servers remember your name, drink orders and what sauces you like with your meal. Wow, first time I've stopped by. Ordered my usual Denver Omlette when in a restaurant and it was great. Best tasting spuds I can remember having. My husband grew up with this gem as a family staple. He took me for my first time for lunch on Sunday and I fell in love with its charm. The service was good, and the fried chicken and jo jo''s were just as yummy as he had described them to be. Both of the servers on staff were so polite and sweet and we enjoyed how the kitchen staff would joke around with them when they asked for things. As soon as I walked in I was in love with the Oldies Style Diner theme. I was immediately greeted by a hostess. I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted and one of the hostesses suggested several items, I decided on the Chicken and Jojo's and let me tell you..I am SCREAMING the are absolutely AMAZING!!! They were thickly sliced potatoes that have been coated with a special seasoning blend and then fried for a crisp exterior and perfectly tender filling on the inside. My family has been going to Anglea's every Saturday for breakfast for close to 5 years. Yes, every Saturday. It has become kind of a tradition since my grandmother passed to come here Saturday's with my grandfather. I love this place. Though we only come around 1130 am (ish), I have had more than just breakfast food, and everything i have had has been great. If you like the home made taste / feel, this is the place to go. The chicken fried steak is to die for, and a must to try. Not only is the food great, but the waitresses are the best too. We are always greeted with a smile, and have grown to look forward to our weekly chats. We have been served by more than one waitress, though we mainly see Lindsay, but we have never had a "bad" experience. The price is slightly higher than a Shari's or Denny's, but the quality makes up for that, and I feel good that I am supporting a local owned small business, instead of a large corporation with CEO's and all that garbage. Give Anglea's a try. You wont be dissapointed (unless you pass on the chicken fried steak). read more

The service was great, but i could not believe that someone would put food like this in front of another person. I had the patty melt, rye bread burnt, burger was the size of a hockey puck. Last night Anglea's catered my mother in laws wedding...I can't say enough good things! The two gentleman that came were so easy to work with and super helpful. The food....the MAC n CHEESE was probably some the best I have had, creamy, cheesy and hot! The honey Dijon chicken breasts were hot and juicy and had great flavor, the red potatoes were tasty and full of flavor! Overall, my plate was clean! Also, as the wedding coordinator of this wedding, my mother in law could not stop talking about how helpful they were in planning on how many to cook for. Very honest and reasonable when it would have been easy to have her increase the amount of food. There was plenty and guests went back for seconds (and thirds)! Unimpressive and over priced. The waitress was nice but not enough to be a reason to return. Went in on a Thursday around 1 pm, the place seemed to have a fair amount of customers which I figured indicated good food. Not so. The menu stated homemade food and I was eager to dig in. I ordered the biscuit and gravy with 2 eggs, my mother ordered the asparagus soup and egg salad sandwich. For my tot in tow we got the Mac n cheese with French fries from the kiddlet menu. After a substantial wait, our food arrived. The asparagus soup tasted like it had just been poured right out of the Campbell's can into a bowl and popped in the microwave. According to my mother, the egg salad sandwich was satisfying but not spectacular, and not worth the wait. Neither my mother or myself could figure out what had taken so long to deliver such mediocrity. When my son's food came you could still see the impression of the microwave bowl out it had been dumped out of. I'm talking Kraft Easy Mac bowls folks, it was pretty disappointing. My order came to our table last. The gravy was super bland and had that same `store bought` flavor as the soup. The biscuits were pretty good, soft and fluffy at least and the eggs were a perfect over-medium! For the promise of homemade food, it was a seriously underwhelming experience. The total came to $27. I gave a two star rating for one star food only because I liked the homey atmosphere and friendly waitstaff. read more

WORST SERVICE EVER!!! Not only did our waitress lie to us she was completely rude. She was confused about what came with the children's breakfast (there was only 3 to choose from.... seems very confusing right? WTH? ) Then the owner came out and admitted he didn't know what was on the menu either WHAT???? There was only THREE options how do you not know what's on YOUR menu???? Then he said the server was his daughter and a really good server. ....excuse me? Good servers don't lie to their customers, they fix the problem (which she did not even attempt to do) and good servers are not rude to their customers. Lindsay greeted me at once. Sat me at the counter. Put a menu in front of me. All the times driving past wondering if the name was misspelled. Vita Mae, a regular since both of us were born finished up an early dinner and left. Another regular from way back left too. The food came. The Jo's hot and flaky, the chicken fresh and a biscuit. They have this sour cream sauce. It felt like home, in a way. Sat awhile after eating to give the car a chance to cool down. The car was shot. Cracked head in engine block. I'm what you would consider a summit/midland native. Born in Bremerton on the Naval base but raised in the area since I was 2 years old. My dad, being from a small Midwestern town, loved taking me to little diners on the weekends when I was growing up. We lived about 5 minutes from Angleas, so would frequent there quite often. I always remembered good, tasty food and laid back, down home friendly service. Fast forward 30 years, and I finally convince my husband to go there on a Saturday afternoon. BIG MISTAKE. Do not go here if you're looking for a friendly smile or good service. The food is subpar, and overpriced. Gone are the days of yesteryear. First of all, we walked in and weren't greeted until we asked 'do we seat ourselves?' Mind you, it's a tiny diner, and both rude waitresses who were on that morning saw us walk in. So we seated ourselves, grabbed our own high chair, and settled in. Neither gem came over to give us menus, water, or an introduction. An older couple came in about 5 minutes after us, greeted the same way, but at least the younger waitress ran over there with menus and an apology. We were still waiting for ours. When I made eye contact with the waitress, she loudly asked the other waitress if she'd been to table 10 yet. She replied, no I'm busy. Nice. So rude youngster tosses some menus on the table, and seems annoyed that we were there. When she finally comes around with ice water and coffee, she manages to spill 4 cups of ice water on my 11 month old daughter. Of course she apologizes and helps clean her or at least gets us extra napkins or a towel, right? Nope. Rude older waitress cleans up the floor, mumbles an apology and walks away. So, after our daughter gets a nice bath, we are ready to order. We both order breakfasts, and both want an extra egg. You can get one egg for $2.29 or 2 eggs for $3.29. We ask for 2 eggs. The waitress asks if we want one egg on each plate. We say yes. Instead of entering the order as one 2-egg side, she processes it as $2.29x2. Yes, it's just a dollar, but it's the principle. When we are ready to pay, young waitress is spilling silverware on the floor while trying desperately to put a box together to pack up a take home pie for another victim/customer. She actually blames another customer for dropping it, and he corrects her and said she's been pushing them off the counter while making the box. Because he, unlike either waitress, was raised correctly, he picks it up. My husband goes up to the register, credit card in hand, to pay for our meal. "Wait a sec," is the snappy quip he gets instead of something professional like, "I'll be with you in just a minute." We pay, and get out of there as quickly as possible. My husband goes back inside to get the name of young, rude waitress, and cranky older waitress obviously thinks for a minute, and most likely gives him a fake name. She never asks why he wants to know, because sadly, she just doesn't care. We, of course, will NEVER go back, and my daughter will never enjoy going to the diner around the corner with her dad growing up. Luckily, down in the Puyallup valley, there are still some great places to enjoy good food and wonderful, kind service. Auntee B's and The Rose top our list of faves. Apparently, everything has gone downhill in Midland. It saddens me, because as I looked around, the customers are the same. Hard working country folk who want a place to call home. A place where the waitress greets you with a smile and makes you feel like an old friend, if only for an hour. If that, along with good food, is what you're after, don't stop here, you won't find it at Angleas. read more

Went here on a Sunday evening because I had been craving fried chicken and this place showed up in my search with decent reviews so I decided to give it a try. They were not busy at all for 6pm, but it was the Sunday after Thanksgiving so I can understand why only a couple other families were there. Since I went there for fried chicken it didn't take long to decide on the 2-piece chicken and jojos basket with dark meat. The chicken was good but nothing extraordinary (I did have a slight sore throat so that might have affected the flavor). The jojos were good and crispy and the sour cream sauce they served with them was good. The roll it came with was cold and not home-made. Overall, I will try it again if I'm in the area and want fried chicken and jojos. read more

I have been coming here for close to 20 years & have been twice in the past 3 months (since re-opening after "renovation"). Not sure what was renovated....until today, meals were ok, nothing special and pricey in my opinion. Took an elderly family member for lunch today. It was very busy, understandable), wait for service and meal reasonable. Then, the side salad (lettuce w/croutons) was ok until I was almost finished & there was a hair swimming in the dressing on the plate. When the server brought our meal and I pointed it out, she made a "sad" face & left. I had to ask for lemon for my fish & chips, & she brought that when I asked. I had asked for extra tartar sauce when I placed my order & it came with a regular sized container. Then she asked if that was enough...by this time I didn't have much appetite. The fish was hot, greasy & 1 piece was still doughy. The fries are obviously frozen...no flavor, dry cardboard consistency. My lunch mate ordered 1/2 sandwich. She said it was ok. They didn't have the pie we wanted "to go" so settled for 2nd choice. Haven't tasted it yet so can't review it. The rest room was very cold & certainly could use a deep clean. The bill discounted the salad. $25 bill for 2 "senior" meals. I know I can get a better value elsewhere....no need to return. read more

Since another restaurant treated us like s..t, on St. Pats Day, we ended up at this awesome diner. Words cannot describe the most awesome treatment we received. It was very close to closing time, however, Lindsey(server), said come on in. WOW! From that moment on it just got better. The food was great and service could not have been better. A huge Thank You to Lindsey and the owner for making our St. Pats. Day dinner one that we will never forget. And, also thanks for the special treatment we received. You know what I mean. LOL!
