Upon arrival to the Angry Crab Shack location in East Mesa, AZ, I was met with a strange, brackish smell. I assume it may have something to do with the restaurant being a seafood restaurant - shrimp, crab and crawfish. I can't say that I've ever met the same smell at the S. Alma School location. The server was enthusiastic and attentive, and all of the servers of the restaurant were attentive and helpful in providing drink refills. The food came out as it has on multiple visits to the Angry Crab Shack at S Alma School, flavorful, hot and yummy. We lucked out and came right before the dinner rush. This location has a large bar at the center of the restaurant and looks like a great place to enjoy drinks while waiting for a table, or for dining. read more

The first waitress was nice but the second server was rude. He obviously did not want to wait on us because I could not get him to come to our table while he was on his cell phone the whole time we were there. Won't be back. Food was good but not going to put up with rude wait staff that's on their cell phone while supposedly at work and did it behind the bar so customers can see. read more

BEWARE!!! If only zero was an option! Where do I begin? I ordered pick up and they wanted a tip. Not a big deal because I typed zero but when we picked up the floor was so disgustingly sticky that the employees feet were making loud noises as they struggled to keep their shoes on. That should have been my clue to leave and get a refund. It was chaos inside and they tried to give us our order without even giving us everything we paid for. But man when we finally sat down to eat this over priced bullshit. I just felt sick. This is the most garbage microwave food that I have ever paid that much money for! Not 1 thing we ordered was any good and I don't have high quality taste buds! I eat a lot of complete shit, I eat McDonald's for gods sake and that is way better than this slop they were serving! I went go pick up an order I stood at the counter for a little with no welcome in or anything. Then three white women walked in behind me and the manager Jessica came over saying welcome in and nice to have you and making small talk. She even said you look familiar to one of them who then responded I just moved over here. She then said oh maybe I don't know you. All while I am standing right at the counter making direct eye contact with her. She still did not say a mumbling word to me! No have you been helped or anything. What she did not know was when I walked in I saw her walking towards me but then turned her back and was speaking to someone at the bar but when the women walked in she is now immediately helpful! Got a great seat at the bar with Jeff. Brisket and pulled pork platter with the slaw a beans is always a go to. Boils always look great, I just do not eat much seafood. Well, curbside did not happen, I had to limp in to the store, stand an additional 5 minutes to get my order. Well, I arrived home and found that part of my order was not in the bag. Love the whole seafood boil idea, eating with your hands and enjoying the flavorful sauce that douses the seafood of your choice. Add some sausage or corn for some extra fun! My family and I enjoyed a night here and it was pretty perfect since my brother isn't a big seafood lover. The cheeseburger on the menu was a shock to me but much appreciated by my brother. Horrible experience. Karla, our server was inattentive and somewhat racist. Gave dirty looks and we had to ask for gloves and bibs repeated while other tables received theirs before their food came out. It seemed rushed. When we could get a hold of her as soon as we tell her what we need she'd hurry and leave and not wait for us to finish. Dirty looks is unwarranted. We felt neglected. Is it me or did angry crab changed the way they make their sauce? It's a hit or miss. If I'm paying over a hundred dollars for food, I'd expect consistency. The fries were old fries thrown back into the fryer and taste like old oil. Shrimp was hot over cooked this time like it was last time. I don't see myself coming back. Love this place, such a simple concept too. A bag of seafood with no utensils. Lol! I love it! The seafood was phenomenal. I love how you can choose the rub and how spicy and not spicy you want it to be. Our server was very attentive and helpful with the menu since it was our first time here. I wanted to give a special thank you to our server, Jess. She was absolutely kind and accommodating for my 14 year old autistic son, as we celebrated his birthday. The music was a bit loud and was beginning to create distress for my child, after asking Jess if she could lower the music (and the reason why), she gladly obliged. She asked if he desired having the normative angry crab birthday celebrations (ringing a bell and loudly announcing), which he declined. She didn't treat the situation like it was awkward or talk down to my son, she clearly stated she just needed to know what we needed, this was new to her. We've been to Angry Crab plenty of times and always left super satisfied and happy with the food and service. We ate there in November and were not happy at all with our food nor the manager. I got king crab legs with the sides as usual. Crab legs were crappy & super spiky this time and we could barely crack them open and hardly any meat in the legs. My hubby always gets the fried shrimp and it's usually big butterflied fried shrimp that they serve. Hmm...Looks like they changed the batter recipe and the type of shrimp they use, smaller shrimp but the price was still the same of course. We told Our server we didn't like the shrimp this time and she apologized and said she'll ask the manager to remove it from our Bill. The manager just looked at us like he was annoyed and just discounted our shrimp instead. He never came up to our table to apologize or anything. The manager was not good at all and should not be a manager with his type attitude. Two thumbs down for the manager! Our server was Great! She was super attentive and apologetic. We loved her! Needless to say, we paid our $100+ dinner bill and tipped our Server great like always. Not her fault the manager was a Jerk! Unfortunately we won't be eating at Angry Crab again. We were craving delicious sea food for our combined birthday celebration tonight and found this place by looking up "best sea food in Mesa". We've been by this corner lots of times without knowing it was there! The atmosphere was fun and friendly and our waitress Dakota was great! The food was delicious!! We ordered the calamari/clams and Cajun fries for happy hour appetizers. For dinner, we ordered a pound of crab legs and a pound of shrimp in the trifecta seasoning. YUMMMM!!!! We also threw in a corn and a couple potatoes. Smart call. Make sure you're wearing short sleeves and your hair is tied back. They provide a bib. Once you start eating, you won't want to touch anything else. Fun to bring a fun group to. read more

Before you go, be aware that if you haven't been to a place that serves seafood by the bucket, it's a full contact sport. Ordered delivery from this place. We ordered the catfish dinner and hot wings. The catfish was okay, but we didn't get the sides that were supposed to accompany it. My visit to angry crab was not pleasant at all I understand we are living a tough situation with social distancing but I felt like me coming In to have dinner with my family was a bother to everybody working in this place. Their were only 14 tables available which I respect do to situation. host sits a family of 4 in a nook by the bar, bar style so no chairs in front of table we were sitting in a row. when I turned to ask if we can have another table host was gone didn't even bother to ask if we were ok with the table. Then server tamee I think that's how she scribbled her name on paper came along I kindly asked if we can move chairs so we can have my kids facing us she asked a lady at the bar if that was possible they said no! so I asked if we can get moved to another table and their were no more tables available. Ok So while we were waiting to get our drinks a table came available and when our server passed by our table I asked her if they can clean table and move us their she said ok . when table did come available for us the server had the nerve to say "ok doggies move along! " What ! did my family just get called dogs ! I turned and looked at her and she sarcastically said "oh sorry just reminded me when I was at my grandpas ranch moving my dogs! " yeah right Tamee. Now to the food usually bags of shrimp come out boiling hot well shrimps were cold ! So sad cause I was looking forward eating them. For some reason server was bringing out food little buy little I didn't understand that part as I have came in to this place when it is super busy and always get my food quick and hot. Server only came once to see if we needed refills in drinks and to ask if we were doing ok and at that point everybody was done eating except for me. Went with family of 6 to this place, and after 10 to 15 min wait to be served, I basically asked my server 2 simple questions.....1) I asked her that my wife hate claws, can I have a pound of crab without the claw?....answer : no. 2) I am a brisket snob, could I try a sliver of brisket before I commit to a full meal?....answer: no, also an added sarcastic smirk.
