Visited on a Friday night for early happy hour. Happy hour prices are good, and they have a selection of local beers at reasonable prices (cocktails and other drinks, too, but I stuck with beer). As with many places, it's nice if you show up early before it gets crowded--and it fills up quickly. There is no set food menu, but the kitchen hosts pop-ups on the patio--in this case Mexican street food that was tasty and affordable, and a good option for sharing. Hands down my favorite bar in Hayes Valley. Fantastic cocktails, varied popups for food on weekends, a great patio and overall good vibes.

Everything about this bar is stressful and rude! From the guy checking IDs outside, to the bar staff, everyone I interacted with was short, disinterested, too busy and rude. There are too many other pretty bars -- esp in Hayes! -- to make this worth going to again. read more

I have only been to Anina for drinks. The punch bowls were fun but they were a little too sweet for my liking. The patio is a good time and when I was there they had someone making tacos and sausages outside which was cool. The patio itself is pretty small so its not a large amount of space...generally not the best with a huge group of people. read more

Great, friendly service. Large outdoor patio and nice inside space. Sierra madre was good, had a nice kick by the end of the drink. Caipirinha and spritzes were too sweet for us. Would probably only come back to try the brigadier or if the weather is nice. read more

Some of the staff need to get over themselves. Just because you bake in a 20% gratuity into the bill doesn't mean you can treat patrons poorly. It's a huge turnoff to what otherwise would have been a good place to have drinks. Won't be coming back anytime soon. read more

Had a great night here Wednesday night (5/9). My friend and I shared the cucumber punch bowl and it was pretty good and refreshing. I forgot the name of our bartender (had a pretty unique name) but he was awesome. Only thing I gotta say is that the background rock/metal music did not really go with the ambiance and look of the place. Kind of defeated the purpose of having that nice island and tropical vibe from the venue's decors and set up. read more

Was visiting San Fran from Australia and this was one of my Favourite bars. Great place for cruisey afternoon beers. It was always busy but the bar staff were exceptional in their service, speed and skills at mixing drinks. If you're around Hayes st definitely worth a visit. Especially on Taco Thursday!! Nice new spot in the ever-trendy Hayes Valley. Slightly kitschy/tiki decor and tropical cocktails. Went after work on a Wednesday evening and the place was packed, which made it a little difficult to get a drink because only two bartenders were working. Didn't like anything about this place. I'll admit I was already a little turned off prior to arriving when I discovered they don't serve any food. This makes matters worse as it is also hard to get a drink or even see a drink menu because it is so cramped inside. This place is poorly designed to the degree that whether or not there's a crowd, the inside is so narrow there is little to no room to walk. Terribly limited seating, especially on the first floor. Service at the bar is also really slow so I would suggest ordering more than one drink at a time to prevent you having to wait around, push through several people or flag down a bartender BUT you'll be stuck holding multiple drinks with nowhere to sit. I think that the outdoor patio is one of the major selling points of Anina in the Hayes Valley neighborhood, especially if one wants to get together with multiple people in an outdoor setting for drinks. The paella that I had wasn't particularly delicious and the cocktails were medium quality in my opinion, roughly $10-$12 each. read more

I like nice, quaint and almost tropical feel to it. Took us 30mins to get the our drinks and we hope we ordered in advance for he rest of the night since it took us longer to get our second round of drinks. They have the pop-up that time called Kantina and they have awesome food. The bar don't serve food so maybe that's why they have a pop-up every now and then. Staff is unfriendly. Ordering process is horrible, seems like they don't remember who they have to serve first. If you're like me that's a little shy, you won't get your drink till much later. I'll skip the bar next time since there's a lot of bars nearby too. read more

Came here yesterday with my friend and couldn't be happier they opened this place! The ambiance is full of color and energy - we immediately felt like we had escaped to a tropical place. Totally unlike any other bar in SF. We ordered a couple of drinks (spritzers and cocktails) both were delicious and well priced ($10-12 - standard). I'm normally a beer and wine girl so I was pleasantly surprised to enjoy a cocktail so much. The picnic tables outside are a great touch - adds a very relaxing feel. Glad it's dog friendly as well. It's like they decided to bus all the douches from the marina to this bar. It's a much better use of the space than Flippers was, but the clientele leave a lot to be desired. There's one bartender who's awesome and you who sucks really bad ( short, bald, bad tattoos, doesn't know liquor at all). This is a really fun place. The cocktails are nice and the well drinks are strong. I was just puzzled as to why they would close such a lovely patio space with bistro lights and everything at 7pm. My last and final visit to Anina was when my friend and I were ordering a punch bowl. I have celiac disease, and am sensitive to even trace amounts of gluten. In the past, I have ordered a punch bowl with a gluten free alcohol specification and had no trouble. On that unfortunate day, I was publicly mocked by the bartender, who was scoffing at my food sensitivity and refusing to tell me what alcohol he was putting in the punch. He offered to do CPR on me, if I got sick, stating that "all alcohol is gluten free," which is entirely untrue(https://www.celiac.com/articles.html/safe-gluten-free-food-list-unsafe-foods-amp-ingredients/gluten-free-alcoholic-beverages-r218/). I was with a group, and decided to end the argument, which was getting increasingly inappropriate and pointless. I had 2 cups of punch, and when we went to a restaurant for dinner, promptly started throwing up. I was sick for the rest of the night, and waking up the next morning, continued to be sick. When I semi-recovered, I wanted to call management at Anina, but there is no number listed. I sent them an email, which was never answered. Needless to say, myself and my horrified friends will not be returning, and we encourage anyone with dietary restrictions, and morals, to STAY AWAY. read more

San Franciscans love outdoor bars. Great drinks and atmosphere.

It probably bias but I'm the doorman at Anina three days a week. The decor is really vibrant and beautiful. The crowd is Hayes Valley Locals, from the Marina & the LGBT community. The bartenders make phenomenal craft cocktails and the wow factor is the punch bowls for groups of four or more. On sunny days the patio is the place to be for drinks and rays! This place is popular, I mean really popular!!! Several hundred patrons come through here seven days a week for the experience. As an employee, the management staff are great people with big hearts. read more
