We've eaten here several times so a review is long overdue. If you like kebabs, biryanis, beef and mutton in general then go now. They have a variety of different chicken and beef kebabs to pick from or you can just get one of three pre selected platters that some with 4 different kebabs. They also allow substitution :). We went last night and In addition to platter 3, we got the chicken biryani and dal gosth (yellow lentils with mutton). I am not a big fan of all the bones and marrow but a lot of people love it . The dish itself was spot on. We also got chicken biryani but the chicken was a little too dry, the only negative in our meal last night. I enjoyed about half the food we ordered. I would give it 3 1/2 stars if I could. The chicken biryani was not my favorite. The chicken itself was good but I did not like the flavor of the rice. I had read that it was spicy which I was excited for, instead it was sweet which was disappointing. We also got the kabob plate which was very good especially the spicy chicken. I would definitely get this again. I had the salty lassi which was good and I would get it again. We also got the chicken pakora for the appetizer which again was very good. I love this place. Been here several times. I brought my lady here for the first time - she will offer her thoughts in her review. I always get the same thing. The chicken tikka, frontier chicken curry, rice, naan and a mango lassi. I know I should be more adventurous, and everything on the menu sounds great. Food is always fresh, piping hot and delicious. If you haven't had anmol, you haven't lived. I'm getting hungry just thinking about the quality of their amazing food. My fiancé and I came here on a Thursday night for dinner. We were told the food would take about 25 mins to cook so we ordered our food and stepped out to grab something at a local shop while the food was being made. When we arrived, a table was waiting just for us with salad and homemade rice cakes. The rice cakes were not what you expect to see- they were white and distorted. They tasted good but had a very unique aftertaste. Finally the food arrived! We ordered the cheesy naan, anmol platter two- afghani kabob, seekh kabob, chicken boti and chicken tikka AND makhani. The Anmol platter was to die for!! Wow is all I can say! It was SO delicious!! The chicken tikka and chicken boti were so good even if they were slightly spicy. Keep in mind that I am a chicken when it comes to spicy so even the bare minimum is super spicy for me! One characteristic I love about this establishment is that all their meat is zabiha Halal and believe me, you can taste the quality almost immediately. I wasn't so hot on the kabobs because they were too dry for me but my fiancé loved them. I think the seekh kabob had too much seasoning to it but once again, personal choice. The naan was so good- perfectly complimented the platter. Keep in mind that the platter doesn't come with rice as a side dish so you have to order that additionally which is an inconvenience, it should be offered with the dish at an additional charge. As for the makhani. Wow, it was amazing. So creamy, delicious and savory. This was even better than the chicken boti or tikka. You could tell it cooked for a while because it was creamy and the chicken was cooked to perfection. I would highly recommend! The service was great too- they regularly came to check on whether or not we needed refills or if we needed anything else. The only annoying part is that the owner was just standing at the entrance basically gazing at everyone. That kind of makes you feel a little awkward. I bought a full tray of butter chicken from them with 40 naans. As soon as I got the food I could tell right away that it wasn't fresh. I called them to let them know and ask for refund, they said instead of the refund they would give me a new one. After I got the new tray of butter chicken, it also tasted and looked the same as the first one. What they did have mix the first tray that I gave them and also some of their own butter chicken and put them in one tray again. As for the naans they also had green stuff on them. I spent over $200 just to get nothing. I returned all my stuff (even the second tray). DONT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE. Please go to a restaurant that will give you some good tasting food. read more

The food at Anmol is 7/10 overall. It is not a place I would recommend, there is nothing special about it. They try to maintain a clean restaurant and they do a decent job, the presentation is nice. A lot of the food is overpriced, perhaps you get your moneys worth if you get a curry but all the grilled meats are tiny. We ordered 2 of the platters and for 22$/each you get 6 tiny pieces of meat. The mutton chops look like they came from a malnourished, anorexic sheep. If you are charging me 22$ for 6 pieces atleast make those pieces a respectable size or make them the best tasting mutton chops I will ever have in my life. There is lack of effort in the cooking, seriously not impressive. Unless your standards are fast food, this place is a waste of time. The servers are all nice. The Issue is the owner/manager. Let me set the scene. This restaurant is very busy, they have more groups than couples. Business must be booming which is great for them. So last night, I took 8 people with me to Anmol. Check the food pictures. I had a restaurant.com coupon from last year. It had not expired, it was never used (you could still click Validate on the app). Mind you, restaurant.com usually sends you an email if a restaurant is no longer using their app and this did not happen. So my coupon was $25 off when you spend a minimum of $50. I spent over 175$. I presented the coupon to the cashier he went into the back to speak to the manager, he returned shortly to tell me that the manager said this is fake and they do not offer restaurant.com coupons anymore. I was upset that he suggested I was defrauding them in some way. Eventually I got a one on one with the manager and you could tell he was just repeating the same nonsense. He clearly did not care about customers only the bottom line. He did not offer anything not even an apology. I would have been happy if he just said I cannot afford to do that but I can bring out some tea for you, its the gesture. Instead I walked away upset because he said to his worker that I had a fake coupon. If his business was empty and he wanted to be cheap I understand but come on, you really don't care about customers . I had 8 people with me, its not like this was just me and one other person. You can bet these 8 people will not set foot in that restaurant voluntarily again. They do not do anything that sets them apart from the other nicer Indian restaurants on Devon so I would suggest Sabri Nihari, Usmania over this place. I cannot respect ownership like that. If you cannot afford to honor coupons then do not engage in these things. You will never see Usmania on these coupon sites. Started us with complimentary far far and chutney which was good and helped tied us over until the food was ready which definitely took a while... Been meaning to try new places on Devon, other than the usual winners like Sabri, and was excited to come into Anmol, because it smelled delicious in here. We seemed to have arrived right before the lunch rush on a Sunday and found the service to be very friendly and the ambience and decor to be nice and inviting. We waited for quite a bit for our food as it started to get busier and everything looked delicious! Knew the BBQ here would be good, so opted to get a platter with chicken tikka, chicken tandoori, beef seekh kabab, and mango habanero chicken. Wanted to try a curry dish too, so asked the server for her recommendation and she said the chicken karahi was popular, so that's what we decided. In retrospect, we probably should have stuck to their BBQ items. When the food arrived, the colors, smells, textures were on-point! I was so excited to dig in to all the BBQ items. Hands down, the seekh kabab was ON POINT! It was absolutely delicious, well-made, flavorful, well-seasoned, no question. All the chicken items - had potential, given the different seasoning and distinct flavors, but we were sorely disappointed that all three of the BBQ chicken items were undercooked. Only a couple bites in each of the chicken dishes were just delicious: crispy on the outside, moist on the inside, but once you got closer to the bone, the chicken was raw. Every single piece. I'm willing to give them another chance, since their seasoning was on point. But I gotta dock stars for the raw chicken - I expect better from a well-known BBQ restaurant on Devon. Let's get to the chicken karahi now. Bad decision. I guess it was our mistake ordering a karahi dish at a spot known for its barbeque. The flavors were terribly lacking, the spices were lack-luster, and I will probably never order this again at Anmol. We barely ate any of it - and once home, we had to re-cook the entire chicken karahi dish, to give it the tomato-based flavors it was missing. Mango lassi was delicious and refreshing. Doodh dulari - will possibly pass on this next time too. Their prices like other pakistani resturants are high, but Anmol gives really small chicken pieces like the small chicken neck piece or wing in salaan and briyanies. If you are going to make food so expensive at least give your customers good amount of meat and chicken pieces. What a shame that they give their customers less for their amount. Plus, sometimes their food is either burned like breads or too oily. If they fix these problems they can be the best restaurant on Devon street. I included a pic below. read more

After visiting so many places at Devon, we wanted to try a new place. One of my friends suggested me Anmol BBQ and hence I went with a couple of friends. From the menu, we randomly ordered curly masala fries, lamb chop, chicken BBQ and chicken curry with naan. The food was literally mouth watering. The lamb chop and the BBQ were out of the world. However,chicken Karahi wasn't that good. I have had better kaharis elsewhere, but other than that, it was so good, this place definitely deserves 4 stars . Taste wise it tastes pretty good, but way over priced We ordered a mix plate for $22 and it came with no rice, no bread, tomato or anything else. Seekh kabobs come as 3 skewers for $13 with no bread or rice. Butter chicken is really good but again comes alone a plate for $12. Plain white Rice is $4, nan is $1.50 each. They do serve a small salad with mini dippings and some crunchy weird bread. Over all taste is good, but way over priced and the menu is weirdly structured. I came here with a friend who visits this place often so I felt confident in her choices. We ordered the Nihari, chicken frontier rice, Masala fries, and the mixed platter #2. Not to mention an order of naan and garlic naan. Yeah, we had enough leftover for several meals afterwards. First thing first. The employees here were extremely friendly and courteous. And patient whenever it became clear to him that we were going to order half the menu for only two people. I've never had the Nahari but the menu said it was beef knuckles with gravy (to be eaten with naan). It was incredibly tender and is something I would recommend if you're a beef lover. The grilled platter definitely stole the show for me though. Whenever I see anything being brought out on a cast iron skilled with tons of smoke coming from the food, i immediately think that everything will be burnt or at least dried out. All of the grilled meats were not only flavorful but moist still. I still can't get over how tasty everything was. And finally, the rice dish which had pieces of chicken was also tender and not dried out. Everything was just delicious and I can't wait to come back. This is definitely going to be in my rotation for good Indian/Paki food. read more

MUTTON ME Our friends ordered a giant tray of Mutton Chops. They looked amazing, smelled fantastic and tasted delicious. If I was going to judge this dish, I would give it a perfect 10 and then order another tray. These Mutton Chops will simply melt in your mouth and before you know it you will be grabbing another. The double cut baby goat chops are tenderized and then marinated in a house special masala blend that will rock your culinary taste buds. We did not visit this location but I can tell you I now have it bookmarked. We love Indian food and even make it at home. I wish I knew how to make this dish because it was that good. Our friends were throwing a Lohri party and they typically order their favorite dishes from multiple Indian restaurants in Chicago. I am so glad they ordered this dish. We all joked that they needed to double the mutton chop order next year. The chops went very fast. It was great finger food. I was looking for a plate when the host of the party told me, "Don't worry about a plate! Just do this!", as he picked up a chop by the bone and started diving in. I picked up my chop and cautiously took my first bite. I did not know how tender the meat would be. It melted like butter in my mouth. I even talked my wife into trying one. She tends to lean towards being a vegetarian. She loved these chops which is a total compliment to the dish. I wanted a second one and the host encouraged me to grab another. I told him I wanted his guests to enjoy them. He looked at me and grabbed another chop, then said, "Go for it!" This was the best party of the year and a great way to kick of 2017. I can not wait to dine here and I have officially bookmarked it. I only had the mutton chops in a giant catering tray but it was enough to make me want to come here for a meal. Ordered the vegetable samosas, mango habanero chicken, chicken karahi, naan bread and basmati rice. The samosas were ok but everything else was amazing. Chicken mango habanero was absolutely delicious and spiced to perfection. The chicken karahi also so flavourful and tasty. Naan bread was a perfect side. I was disappointed that we had to pay extra for the basmati rice also that they would not honor the free dessert advertised on Yelp unless we were eating in. An authentic Pakistani spot in North Chicago. Great waiter service, but the dishes take a while to prepare so account for a long meal. If you're not short on time it's definitely worth it. Start with one of their milky and mildly sweet chais. They'll also bring out the papadum and three chutneys as an appetizer. For mains, it's hard to go wrong. The meat platters are great assortments of tender and well seasoned chicken, lamb and beef. Spiciness varies by platter. The Haleem is absolutely fantastic and so rich. The Peshawari Karahi is slow cooked to make a tender bone-in mutton stew. The biryani is great and comes in a large helping. For dessert the highlight is the ras malai with soft cheese like balls in a thickened milk topped with pistachio bits. Really enjoyed the food here. We started with chicken pakora, unique and tasty. I enjoyed the green sauces that came with it. For an entree we shared the kabob platter #2 and chicken biryani. The kabob platter was delicious- spicy, flavorful, and filling. The kabob went great with the naan and the chicken was perfectly seasoned. Amazing food and decent services. We (a party of 4) got there around 9 on a Saturday night and were seated immediately. Ordered Chicken Charga, mutton kalimirch and Bihari kebab. Mutton kalimirch was one of the best mutton dishes we have ever had in the States. Chicken Charga was exceptionally flavorful and moist, with appropriate crisp and smokiness on the outside. Portion sizes are huge. 2 entrees should have been more than enough for 4 famished people. Will definitely go back to try their biryanis and other kebab dishes. read more

Below average food with awesome service and hospitality. The food is little more expensive compared to popular restaurants in the area. We ordered Kulcha, Palak Ghost, Chicken Biryani and a chicken roll. The kulcha was horrible- a thin super hard bread. We asked for garlic bread instead. The garlic bread was great. Chicken biryani was flavorful but was low in quantity and with very hard chicken. The palak ghost was most interesting. They don't know how to make it at all. They just took out paneer from palak paneer and added mutton ( mostly bones). We found paneer pieces. I now see that someone else gave similar feedback on palak ghost 6 months back. I wish we had read those reviews before visiting. All the people serving were very very nice and hospitable. They gave us complimentary lassi and dessert too. Those were actually ok. Overall, it's a bad place for non vegetarian food (considering competition in the area). The cook is bad, but the serving people are people are super duper nice. :). As the daughter of two Indian immigrants, I grew up eating authentic Indian food day in and day out (much to my dismay at the time) for approximately 18 years. Even when we decided to go out for dinner, my parents would still choose a restaurant that featured South Asian cuisine. We live in a part of California heavily populated by Asians, so I like to think I've been to some of the best South Asian restaurants in the country. This was my first Desi experience in Chicago. The restaurant struck me initially as "nicer" because it appeared newer and clean. Some of the most authentic places I've gone to feature an older space, large crowds, plates and silverware of questionable cleanliness, etc. Anmol BBQ seemed very safe relative. The menu is extensive. It offers chicken, mutton, seafood, vegetarian entrees, etc. Some of the descriptions of the food are hilarious, by the way. The Rasmalai was described as, "milk based donuts in a sweet milky syrup". I legitimately laughed. This isn't a bad way to describe what Rasmalai is to someone who's unfamiliar, but I can't remember a time where I didn't already know. We ended up ordering the Chicken Makhani, Palak Paneer, Garlic Naan, Gulab Jamun, and I had a Salty Lassi. I'll start with the things I liked: Good: Chicken Makhani, Naan, and Gulab Jamun. The chicken was rich, flavorful, and tender. The naan was not too thick, and the gulab jamun came with kulfi, which actually added a really nice touch. Eh: My lassi was plain, not salty. I have this problem at the majority of Indian restaurants that I go to, even at home. Not sure why. The paneer was underwhelming. They gave us a small side of raita that had a weird flavor to it. Clearly, I'm picky with my yogurt. Overall, it was good. Total came out to $36 for so much food. If you check in, you can get a free dessert with your entree. Also, for all you other first generations, there was a bucket of water next to the toilet and I even got some prolonged stares from a few aunties. Talk about an authentic experience lmao. read more
