All delicious, reasonably priced, and reasonably fresh. Can't stress how nice it was to find a place with a decent-sized menu wide open to vegetarian needs. One of the best vegan meals I've ever had. The owner either needs to be in there more often, or go to restaurant school. Inexperienced and clueless staff take forever with everything and are totally overwhelmed. They need at least one and probably two more people working a shift. I was looking for indian style cuisine in the santa fe area and looked this place up. After looking at the rave reviews this place has gotten I decided I had to check it out. Got a south indian thali to go and also some khichdi. The dosa was completely burnt and the rest of the food (except the medu vada) was tasteless for the most part. It was like eating raw uncooked flour and boiled potatoes with no spices, no taste at all. I called back saying that the dosa is burnt and I can come pick up another one, and the reply I got was the sweetest insult ever "this is how we cook, we can make another one but you will have to pay for it". She wasn't rude at all when she said that but man, it was insulting. I got a footlong subway for dinner that night. I do not think I am ever going back here again. read more

Since I'm not all that accustomed to the typical veggie fare, I asked the beautiful waitress what she would recommend off the menu. The soup of the day was just wierd, and completly inedible. The Panang was bearable... I guess I'm used to more livid asian dishes, but I was completely unimpressed. Maybey should have ordered one of the really tasty looking desserts that were on display... It looks like they have some good food, and they are very nice, but the pizza was the worst pizza I have ever had. Crust flabby and tasteless, not risen at all, with a tough edge. Greasy sauteed veggies were the topping. I would go again, but would avoid the pizza. read more

Sorry Shed ! Sorry Santa Fe Baking Co ! I like you but, I will always choose Annapurna over you . This is Ayurvedic (indian healing system) Vegetarian/Vegan restaurant. . . they do have indian themed food, but so much more. My parents aren't Veggie or Vegan, and my dad eats meat regularly, and THEY LOVED Annapurna's (which means goddess of food and abundance) yes indeed. I loved and would definitely recommend their ABLT, which is a sandwich of Avacado, veggie bacon, lettuce and tomatoes with lime salsa and comes with a salad. Oh so good. . . they have a bunch of other sandwiches that look amazing. They are open for breakfast and have a great selection of vegan and gluten free items, such as the Cardamom Pancakes and Breakfast Quinoa. They have a list of indian specialties and everything looks so fresh ! The atmosphere is very hip and kind of dark and very chill. Besides the people that came to eat a sit down meal, I found quite a few people sitting at tables with drinks and on computers, so although I did not ask, I am guessing that they probably have wifi here. I used to love the food here. They now SUCK! I wish the service was better. It took 40 mins to get my SIMPLE SOUP during lunch. They need to hire actual professional cooks. The hygiene is questionable as well. I saw a cook answer his cell phone with a rubber glove on and once he was done with his call he went straight back to cooking my food. FUCKING GROSS! I had violent diarrhea after eating there for lunch. I went back on a second visit (i know i probably shouldn't have) I got dal and a samosa for dinner. After waiting for 40 mins again they brought it out FUCKING BURNT to a crisp. They were nice enough to replace my food, but it was too little too late. Annapurna has moved to a new spot in town and I am so glad it did. The old location burned down. The food at the new is good. Annapurna does not serve meat, fish or eggs and those items will not sneak into your food dishes as in other restaurants in town. I can order anything on the menu and have no care as to it's containing those nasty ingredients. I love the chai. I love the veggie burger. I love the fries. Good prices, happy people. read more

Pretty good. Love the concept. Had the Kitchari with ginger added and it was good. The quinoa spinach veggie salad was bland. I told the person I ordered from that I had a dairy allergy and it came out with feta and the chef that delivered it said she should have put that in the ticket and looked at my ticket and ended up remaking the salad sans the feta. The feta probably would have made it better. We also had fries. Some of them were soggy, some crispy and I liked the garlic veganaise and house made ketchup. If back in the area I'd try a different place vs heading back here but it's decent. read more

I love this place and the food I had. BF and I had the breakfast burrito and it was exactly what we needed after not having decent food with protein for a long ass time (we've been road tripping around the country). It was large and in charge. A burrito wrap of chapati filled with tofu scramble, masala fries (mmm, mmm, mmm) and smothered in green chile sauce (mmm, mmm, mmm) topped with pico de gallo. I asked for vegan cheddar. it was extra, not melted and did not add to the dish at all. I would not get the vegan cheese. That's why I give it 4 stars, being charged for vegan cheese when it costs equivalent to dairy cheese and it's not melted or vital to the dish. The place has wifi and hence I'm yelping right after the meal :) Plan on getting a masala tea to chill with. read more

Pros: -A plethora of Vegan options -Fresh food and friendly service Cons: -Having 1 person to take orders, answer the phone, serve drinks, and bring food out results in a longish line. -Wait times for food were somewhat excessive, even if it is made to order. -One of our entrees came out stone cold (they did remake it at no additional cost, but we had already waited quite a time for the original order and were then pressed for time). What we had and what we thought of it: Cardamom banana pancakes - perfect consistency and taste. Yum! Chai - too spicy for my husband, but I loved it. Veggie Burger and fries - Burger was very dry and bun was even drier. Fries were soft and tasted as though they had been reheated. South Indian Sampler (Tri Doshic) - the dosa was absolutely delicious. My husband liked the other items, but they were too bitter for my taste. We had the soup of the day which was pureed beers with coconut on top, along with a nice salad with an amazing balsamic lemongrass dressing. We also shared the three vegetable platter. You get to choose based on your ayurvedic type. Nice selection of flavors and spices. The bread was also spongy and soaked up the sauces well. We didn't have any desserts, but they looked fabulous. This is one of my go-to comfort food restaurants in Santa Fe and Albuquerque. Yes, the service is pretty bad. Yes, some things are expensive, especially given the lack of table service. But I'll admit it, I'm addicted to the bhaji bowl, and when I'm feeling flush, the puri bhaji. This dish has the perfect amount of spice to clear my sinuses when I feel like I'm coming down with something, they always have it, and it's consistently good. Vegan restaurant food you can rely on can be hard to come by, and for that I give this place a big fat kiss. Free wifi is an awesome perk. And they don't advertise it, but I always get a refill on my chai, so the cost of the chai includes that refill. Not bad, especially considering they have soy chai as well as dairy chai with no soy mark-up. This is also a great family restaurant- the kids menu has some great, kid-friendly foods, and the lack of table service means you can usually get your food more quickly because you're not sitting around waiting for a server to take your order. I've never eaten anything off the non-Indian food menu, so I can't speak to those items. Be forewarned that this isn't your standard Indian restaurant- the food featured here is different, so if you're wanting a creamy, fatty curry at an all-you-can-eat lunch buffet, this is not your place. This is the second time I have tried Annapurna's. I was hoping it would be a better experience but I had the same issues as my last visit (close to a year ago!) Basically this establishment seems to not be very worried about basic cleanliness...my boyfriend and I got tea. Our first cups for tea had big chunks of food in them, the cashier gave us new ones. After we sat down, we noticed the new cups also had bits of food and grime inside. We asked for new cups one more time. They also were lined with a film of grime that when I scratched with my nail appeared to be an orange-brown powdery residue. I used a napkin and water to clean it myself-it took at least 5 minutes to get the inside completely clean. It seems that they just don't clean them well at all. The staff always appears to be a bit depressed and a little rude even at first greeting. I'm not sure why but none of them seem happy while all of the customers are cheerful. As for the food, it is pretty decent. Their fries are probably the best thing I've tried there with the garlic dipping sauce. I also got the VLT or whatever with the vegan bacon. It was okay except that there were only two slices of bacon on the entire sandwich. That being said, portions are decent and it has a lot of vegan options. If they cleaned their cups, utensils, and tables a little better and were friendlier, I could have given 5 stars. read more

Came by close to closing time due to just getting off the road from a long drive. This was the only place we saw with vegan options so we headed straight from the freeway. The girl at the register seemed very bothered with our presence. I realized it was close to closing, but this really was our option before finding a room. It seems like everything we tried to order was not available. The girl even said "well, that takes like 15 minutes to make and we're closing". I understand they have a closing time, but you still have to help the customer with what is being requested when you are not yet closed. We order what was available to us. As a vegan from California I have been struggling to find food I can eat in New Mexico but this place was amazing! I got the stir fry and masala fries and my family got the Lebanese wrap, Masala Dosa, and Puri Bhaji. The portions were very large. Excellent menu, and they've finally added an alternative to dairy or soy milk for their chai--long overdue for women sensitive to avoiding the health risks of soy milk...Their chai latte is a little watery, but other than that, a happy upgrade. I see another review complaining about watery drinks, so I hope that isn't just a way to save a few pennies...Their Mango Lassi used to be awesome, but I haven't had it in a long while. A few of my many many favorites include: Kitchari (omg--if only I could get their recipe), Marsala fries, Samosa, Portobella: portobello mushroom wrap, Falafel wrap, Dal, and the list goes on and on! I haven't been in for quite a while, so I thought I'd try it again. The last time I was in, the owner was ringing up food at higher prices that advertised on the menu, and argued with me about it until I demanded a refund, at which point he conceded that he would refund the difference. It is illegal to charge a higher price than advertised. So yesterday when I went it I saw that new menus were in place, and when I was rung up the prices matched. So, an improvement; better late than never. However, there were several things that were disappointing, such as the Chai, which is sold in 6 oz cups which they insist are 8 oz, and having worked many years in the industry, I know the difference. So, again, false advertising, and I wouldn't mind the cashier arguing with me about it if she were right, but she clearly does not know the size of the cup and is only parroting what she's been told. But it does come with a free refill, so that sounds ok, right? Well, not actually. I asked the cashier if i could have a larger cup so I didn't have to come back for a refill and she refused. She told me she could give me a larger cup if I were taking it To Go, but if I was dining in that was not allowed. The issue here, and it was not just yesterday, it has been an issue every time I've been there in the past, is that there is always a line several deep or more at the counter, so when I want to get a 6oz refill, I have to stand in line for 10 minutes. Why would I want to interrupt my meal to go stand in line for 10 minutes to beg for the additional 6 oz that I've already paid for? Just give me what I've paid for. This is bad customer service, and a poor decision on the part of the owners/management. I understand that they want to cut down on waste, but if I pay for a product, it is mine to waste or not waste or take home the remainder or whatever. I think that by making it so purposely difficult (considering there is no table service, and I have rarely ever seem more than one staff person at the counter) to obtain that "free" (*it's not "free" if I've already paid for it) 6 oz refill, the company is cheating customers of the goods they have paid for. And then this: there used to be self-serve water on the end of the counter, where customers could help themselves. But no more. The cashier brings the food and drinks to your table (after first ringing up the handful of customers who were behind us in line), and the water is served in half-size glasses, and again the same problem arises when you want a refill on the water. You can't get it yourself, so it back to standing in line for 10 minutes to beg for an additional half-glass of water. This place is way too understaffed for this system to work. There are no servers, so once your food/beverages have been delivered, no one checks on you to see if you need refills. To be fair, the food I had yesterday was tasty and comforting, and the (6oz) Chai is great. I love it that they offer Soy Chai as well, but I don't appreciate that it's already sweetened, as the customer ought to be able to sweeten, or not, their own beverage to their liking. I'm sure that's a cost thing, but things like that, and the refill situation, and telling customers they're getting 8oz when it's really 6 oz, all these things just make the place feel cheap and dingy. I want to get what I pay for and shouldn't have to beg for more and be treated like a small child who doesn't know who much food/drink they can consume. I guess I'll always be getting my order to go from now on, because the service just isn't worth a damn. It's too bad Santa Fe has so little to offer in the way of Vegetarian restaurants. If India Palace stayed open between lunch and dinner I would choose them over Annapurna every time, as much of their food tastes better (Saag Paneer, Samosas), and their Chai comes unsweetened. Annapurna does have a lot of dishes that other Indian restaurants don't, to be fair, and many of those are tasty. But some just taste like crap, like the Carrot "Ginger" soup-of-the-day we had yesterday. There was no Ginger taste at all, and the carrots tasted like dirt. Sometimes Carrots taste nice and sweet, sometimes they taste like dirt and not sweet at all. Someone ought to be tasting the products being sold. It tasted so nasty it was insulting. Update: after receiving a comment on my review from the owner, I have to say that it did not address any of my concerns at all, and YES, the Chai cups ARE 6 oz. The one shown in the link look similar but the actual ones being used are smaller. And yes, you do have to wait in line to get your "free refill" of chai or even a cup of water because the only other option would be to forcibly push your way in front of the customer at the front of the line, which is rude to the customers. Obviously the owner doesn't care that this makes a poor dining experience. Don't know why the owner felt the need to state that they are not an Indian restaurant. Cheap and sad. read more

I read the reviews and was really looking forward to eating here. . The staff was friendly , Sadly it went down hill from there . The Lebanese Wrap , was a roll of overcooked mush over flavored with way to much cumin. The fries were good , however they weren't any better then any fries you could get at any fast food franchise. I tried the spicy potatoes with cabbage , again more mush with way to much cumin . Since it was late in the evening I couldn't help but wonder if everything wasn't prepared earlier in the day and had been stewing in a couple of crock pots. I had spotted some pies and cookies when I first walked in. There was a couple pumpkin pies and a pecan pie. I hadn't had any pecan pie since last Thanksgiving. Unfortunately the piece I received wasn't from the one on display. It must have come from that same pie I ate over a year ago . It was hard and STALE!!!! I couldn't even break a piece off with my fork. It was like slicing through an old 2x 4. I should of sent the pie back . I now regret not saying anything while I was there.Like I said the staff was really friendly and I should have given them the opportunity to make it right. I had ordered a dozen cookies to go and since I already paid for them , I just wanted to get out of there. Great! If you are ready to an alternative to New Mexican cuisine, this is the place. The stir fry with tofu was delicious and filling.
