I wanted this place to be good, but it just wasn't. The atmosphere and service were great and there is a nice variety of vegetarian entrees and desserts. I had all three vegetables of the day and the dal with chapati (Thali plate). There was not a hint of garlic, mustard seed, cumin, hing, masala, chili, etc. In fact, all dishes were starkly bland. The coconut chutney had no flavor whatsoever, maybe made with canned coconut. The chapati was very hard and dry. The samosa was quite good but needed a mint chutney or something on the side. This is one restaurant we wish we hadn't stepped into. The drinks were passable. We ordered mango lassi and ginger lemon drink. Both the drinks were watered down. The mango lassi had a little twist of cardamon but it didn't go well with the lassi. The ginger drink had lost all flavor of anything gingery and tasted like lemonade. The food was horrible. We ordered the stir fry which actually a soup and the savoury crepe. The stir fry had way too much salt in it. The crepe was thicker than a dosa should be and the potato filling was lackluster. It came with lentil soup and coconut chutney. This was the first time I saw a green coconut chutney with watery base. It was missing the rich creaminess that a coconut chutney should have. I love this place! We had the veggie burger, Indian sampler plate, cardamom pancakes, sweet potato pie, pecan pie, and chai lattes! I'm not a vegetarian, in fact for the past year or so I've been 90% on a full "carnivore" style diet, meaning I only eat meat for most of the week! I have some dietary and autoimmune issues and this seems to be the safest route for me. However!!! ANNAPURNA's Ayurvedic meals are some of the only "cheat" meals that I can get away with eating with ZERO negative immune symptoms. The flavors and options are amazing and I'm just so grateful to be able to eat outside my normal boring dietary restrictions and still feel great! I usually get the combination plate -- I think it's called the thaali? But you get SOOO much food for only $13, and you don't feel heavy or full at all. Since the name says Annapurna we thought it might serve some good food.,we ordered dosa sambhar Puri bhaji north and south Indian platter and it was such a waste of money.. there was raddish and carrot cut in circular piece in sambhar.. dosa was aweful..Puri bhaji was aweful..bhaji had half boiled semi circular shaped potatoes..and cabbage too!!! I ended up at Annapurna's with my (non-vegetarian) pop and was shocked to see how much he enjoyed all of the food- we even went back the next day! I knew this place was going to be the jam because of their philosophy and the chef's attention to each spice that is incorporated into each meal- seriously amazing! My food didn't stay pretty long enough to snap many photos (next time), but TRUST me- you will love this place. God bless this place! Been driving around the country on a road trip for weeks now and healthy food options have been limited. This place serves high energy Ayurvedic food that is not only nourishing for your body but tastes amazing. Healthy food doesn't have to taste bad. My bf and I went in here with pretty high hopes. We ordered our food, and sat out on the patio. From there we waited what seemed to be an unreasonable time for our food... long enough that we actually wondered if they forgot about us (mind you, we were nearly the only people in there). Once we got our food, our fries were cold... like had been sitting out for 30 min cold. I hesitantly went inside, politely expressing they were cold... and the worker's response? "Did you want a new side?" - No apology of any sort. Nearly 10 min later, all other food consumed, STILL no fries. At this point my bf went in to ask about them, and it seemed evident they had forgotten about us (again...). He was told a couple more min, and eventually got our fries... still no apologies of any kind. Saving grace, my bf did enjoy his falafel wrap. I wouldn't really call this an "Indian" food restaurant. The flavor profiles of the food may be Indian- and Asian-inspired (i.e. curry, coconut milk, spices), but the food at Annapurna doesn't live up to Indian or Asian food from other restaurants. There's rarely much spice to the food, and I find that the sauces tend to be thin. The prices are also inflated, since the most cost-effective thing to get at Annapurna is still $9, and it's a bowl of rice with vegetables, and one samosa costs $4 or something crazy. Annapurna is basically the only completely vegetarian restaurant in town, and also has plenty of vegan options. The fact that all the cuisine is vegetarian, and often vegan, as well as the fact that the food is supposed to be ayurvedic, could partially explain why the food isn't more tasty. That said, I do like coming here once in a while when I don't have food at home or am too lazy to cook, and would like something that tastes relatively "clean" and/or has a lot of vegetables. read more

At Annapurna's, I ordered the South Indian Sampler and Oat Milk Chai. I didn't really know what to expect of the Sampler but knew it was vegan and gluten free. I so wanted to like this place and went in with high expectations based on other reviews. Unfortunately, my overall experience was one of disappointment. The dall and rice were very good- excellent comfort food. The samosas were unfortunately hard as a tock on the outside and basically not edible due to being burnt. Masala Dosa was ok. a bit to soft for my taste. The coconut churney and date chutney were very unusual. I have lived in South India and I never had anything like their chutneys. Their masala chai hit the spot. Mango Lassi is vegan so your taste buds will be challenged if you are used to desi dahi. In summary, try only one item to see if it meets your taste buds and to ensure it is not an off day for the chef. When I asked about the burnt samosas I was told the cook was there alone and was having an off day. Unfortunately, I was still charged for the samosas and a replacement was not offered. read more

This is not an Indian place but you get a flavor or vegan Indian and other food from all over the world. Don't go in with a frame of mind that you will be served with butter naan or daal makhani. I was aware of this part..thanks to Yelp !! I ordered lavender mint chilled tea which was good, North Indian thali, North Indian platter, samosa. Love this place. Service is generally slow, but it's not a big deal, just don't expect to hop in for a quick bite. Everything I've had there is good, with only a couple exceptions - those being the sautées, which are frequently swimming in oil. My favorites are the breakfast burrito made with tofu scramble, the garden salad with lemongrass vinaigrette, and the kitchari (a nourishing comfort food). And don't forget some chai. I have been going to Annapurna's for many years, since it was in the Solano Center, but I will not be setting foot in there again. Today I met a friend there for lunch. I ordered a falafel wrap and a mango lassi at the counter. The woman behind the counter rang me up and I paid with a credit card. After the transaction was complete she learned that they were out of mango lassi and asked if I would like something else. There was no other beverage I wanted. She suggested the lemon ginger tea and some other things but I really didn't want anything else. She said she did not know how to do a refund but would find out how. I sat down so as to not hold up the line. No problem. I could see the original woman who helped me and a second woman were having trouble doing the refund so I went up and said I would just take an iced chai. I was told "we don't do iced chai". (Why they couldn't put some chai in a glass of ice I don't know.) She asked again if I wanted a lemon ginger tea and I said "no I don't like that tea". Just after my food arrived (without the side of sauce I had ordered) the second woman came up, slammed some cash on the table and said with an angry tone "here's your refund, you have to sign for it, and do not treat our employees so rudely!" I was stunned. I'm not sure what I did that was rude, maybe saying I don't like lemon ginger tea. It was no fault of mine that they were out of what I had ordered and been charged for. I asked for a to-go box. I did not want to sit there a minute longer. She brought me a very small box, literally less than half the size of my food, and some paper and foil. My poor friend who had been sitting through this whole thing had to get a box for her food too. We both lost our appetite. You lost 2 customers today. read more

Not bad at all!! I am not a vegetarian but I like to try different types of food. The Ayurvedic food taste is wonderful!! The different mix of herbs and spices make you think you are in a different country. The decor is completely casual and the waitresses uniform as well. It may help the ambience if they use some sort of hindi garments. No background music either. This may help to mask the kitchen noises. Other than that, it was a nice experience. Because of their service model, you need to know precisely what you want to eat, since at the counter there is no time to ask questions. With people behind me in line, I felt pressured to order quickly even though it was my first time there and I would have liked to make a few inquiries. The South Indian sampler that I ordered was OK, but had I know that it consisted primarily of hard dry items, I would have ordered something different. Maybe a photograph of each menu item would help customers see what they are likely to get when they place an order. The salad was nice, and the ginger tonic I had was tasty. I definitely will go back to Annapurna's on my next trip to Santa Fe, and wait for a gap in the action to ask some questions before ordering.
