Anna's is a great Italian restaurant to dine out with your family. Service is friendly and portion sizes perfect for teenagers. I enjoy sitting at the side walk tables. The atmosphere is a little loud inside. If you prefer it quieter, you can also get a table upstairs at The Loft. You can rent that space for a private party. It has a separate entrance on the street. We had a small wedding reception with about 45 guests there. Management and the whole staff were very easy to work with and we had a wonderful time. They set up a buffet line and served drinks at the bar. We rented a karaoke machine and later we pushed a few tables to dance. read more

Stopped here for lunch today and was not disappointed! My wife and I both had Stromboli and they were among the best we've ever had. Perfect crust and perfectly cooked. My daughter had the spicy chicken wrap and loved it. Our friend had the half sandwich and soup and it was great too! Definitely will be back the next time we are here! Kudos to everyone. Continuing our hunt for a non-droopy Neapolitan pie, on a recom-mendation my wife ate at Anna's in Apex (catchy). Unfortunately we were disappointed. You be able to pick up a slice of pizza by the crust and not have the end of the slice droop - at all. You should also be able to fold the slice lengthwise for convenient eating. That said, Anna's didn't make it; he slices were floppy in the extreme. We also tried a slice of Sicilian (square) pie. Unfortunately, the slice was without taste. I give Anna's two-stars because the waiter was very attentive and the service was good. read more

Food is great.. Service needs alot of help... It is very up settting when you go out to eat and you wait 10 minutes for the server to bring back your glass of tea or bring you a simple item like salad dressing. Be prepared to wait for for your entire meal at different times. read more

I have now been here five times, and each time it's a little less impressive than the time before. The food is good, but not outstanding and memorable. The service was slow every time we went regardless of if the place was slammed or we were the only table. So I keep going back, and thought after the horrible service we had in-person that I would maybe just go there for take out. After spending over 100 dollars for take out for a group dinner, I will definitely never visit again in or out. All the pizzas were cold, two of which were undercooked and raw in the middle. Since each time is worse than the time before, this last time was my last. Too bad, I'd like to support local businesses, but not when they provide such poor service and food. read more

Stay away! Not sure what happened to this place but it went down hill. Ordered the Margarita pizza....that is not what came out! Looked and tasted just like their normal pizza which was 7 bucks cheaper. Spoke to the manager who was very rude and inexperienced in the food industry. Insisted I was wrong! So it is not only the food that went south...but the service. I am glad I had this experience with a simple meal. Was getting ready to book my daughters sweet 16th here. I recently took my daughter to Anna's for a quick bite for lunch. I've been to Anna's before and was never really impressed with the service and this time proved to be the worst. The place was not crowded and we were seated quickly. A family of four followed and sat next to us. I only mention this because they had their drinks before we were even greeted by our waitress. We placed our drink (2 waters) and food (1 Calzone & 1 slice of pizza) order at the same time when we were approached. Speed up about 20 minutes and the family of four along with a few other patrons that came behind us already had their food. I finally had to get up to ask a different wait staff (since mine was missing) if they could at least heat up the slice of cheese pizza for my daughter since the calzone seems to be taking forever. And yes, I noted the family beside me had calzones long before I saw a slice of cheese pizza. Finally, the slice of pizza and the calzone arrived! But wait, the calzone was served at room temperature with cold peperoni inside. All of this after waiting close to 25 minutes! I once again had to get up and talked to a gentleman behind the bar. I explained the ordeal and asked them to take away my food. He apologized and let me know they order was never placed in the kitchen. Where was my waitress ....well I guess she was too embarrassed to come back after realizing she never put in my food order and didn't have the decency to simply tell me she made a mistake. The positive part of my experience: The gentleman behind the bar did not charge for the slice of pizza and gave us a desert to go. read more

I like this place. The chicken franchase is excellent. I do not recommend going to the 2nd floor. The service is not as good and the tables are not level and move. It is fun to watch people sit down and try to fix their table with no avail. Then they move to another table. 2nd floor is weird and has no windows. read more

We have enjoyed Anna's for many years however this evening the service was so poor I felt the owners would want to know. When you only have a handful of wines on your list you should be able to provide some helpful guidance. We went to dinner in the upstairs part. Here's a list of my complaints: - Our waitress only came over once during dinner. I had to walk up to the bar to ask for: utensils, water, beer refills, boxes for leftovers, our check, and to take the credit card. She never took the plates or empty glasses away, and never once checked on how our food was. She didn't even bring it over, a food runner did. - There were about 6-7 tables of patrons in the restaurant. For restaurant staff, there were two waitresses, two busboys, and one cook who stood around the bar area drinking, eating, playing on their phones, and watching TV. One waitress seemed to be checking on tables more frequently, but ours did not. - The food: meh, it was okay, but nothing unique. The garlic knots were tough and didn't absorb any sauce. I don't think they were fresh at all. The eggplant Parmesan was okay, but it was covered in sauce and a thick topping of mozzarella. It would've been great if it was presented better, but the edges of the plate were covered in sauce. It was very messy to eat. It came with spaghetti, which you can tell was cooked in water with oil in it. To the chefs: You don't have to put oil in water for pasta, it won't it stick together. Putting oil in the water causes the sauce to run off the pasta and taste like noodles without sauce on them. I was going to email you this information, but there was no email address on your website. I'd like to come back here, and these problems above are easily remedied. But you have to do something, because I won't be back if I have to walk up to the bar 6 times during a meal. I brought some friends from out of town, I've always been curious about this place. We all enjoyed our experience, we came before the lunch peak on a Sunday, which can get crowded, so we got seated right away. By the time we finish there was a big line outside. So, my suggestion, get there early! The pizza size is regular but the topping portion is huge. You can order a customized slice, and you probably don't need a second slice unless you're a big eater. Pricing is reasonable. If you are from New York City or Chicago which are both big on traditional Pizza reputations, Anna's Pizzeria delivers a unique experience. read more

Ok, here is the break down, the food is good for the price, BUT the service is almost non-existent. We have eaten there three times in the last few months. We tried to give the service team the benefit of the doubt but three strikes and your out. You can plan on waiting, and waiting, and waiting for your food, and just forget about any drink refills, even if you are sitting at the bar. A favorite lunch spot for a slice and a salad, with an extremely friendly staff!

Someone told us they had the best pizza so we decided to gave it a try. We were very disappointed. 28$ for a 16" pizza. Half Margarita and half meat lovers and we asked for it to be well done. We got home to a soggy, over salted, over priced pizza that neither of us could eat more than one slice. Maybe it was an off night but we will not be trying it again. read more

I ordered a Grandmas pie and mussels marinara based on neighbors recommendation. The pie arrived stuck to the top of the box. I called Anna's to tell them their driver took too many bumps and my pizza was destroyed. The owner got on and said next time you call I'll give you five dollars off...I was like are you kidding me, I just spent 25 with tip on a pie that's inedible and your offering me $5 off my NEXT delivery??? This is my favorite places in the world. The tables are wood the chairs are wood. The water is water flavored and the pizza is pizza flavored. It was very cool. The bathroom is 15/10 the only complaint i have is I cannot rate it 10/5. The welcome sign on the northwest side is very welcoming. I love the food and water. We've been eating at Anna's since they've opened and we've always enjoyed it in the past. Lately, though it the quality of the food has fallen off, especially tonight. My calamari were waaay overdone, deep fried to death. My daughter's baked tortellini was overcooked, mushy, and flavorless. As mediocre as those two items were, the biggest disappointment was my son's calzone. He ordered a calzone with sausage, ham and sundried tomatoes. What they brought out looked like a small sandwich shaped like a calzone. It was a pre-baked cheese calzone (JUST ricotta cheese and dough), about the twice size of a Hot Pocket, sliced open on the rounded side of the cooked dough like a sandwich bun and the ($1 per) custom ingredients stuffed into the opening. Seriously?? I paid $9 for something that looked like a small frozen calzone doctored up with leftovers. When I asked our waitress about it, she confirmed that they precook the calzones and add the custom ingredients to order "because it's faster". Faster? How hard is it to make a fresh calzone?? It's pizza dough with ricotta cheese and the other fillings folded over and baked in a pizza oven. It takes the same amount of time to cook as a pizza (less than 10 minutes in a 500 degree pizza oven). Part of what makes a calzone good is that the ingredient cook inside the dough as the dough cooks. That is not what we got. La Pizza Volante, just down the road, has a number of processed items they sell, but at least their calzones are fresh. They are also twice the size of the one we got at Anna's AND cheaper. read more

Anna's is or was one of my favorite restaurants in Apex so to choose their loft for our staff party sounded like a good idea. When I first called the restaurant to set up a date, I was told to call back later because they were too busy...okay reasonable request. When I called back I was abruptly told that requests were only handled via email and I was told to email my request. Hmmm, couldn't the first guy have told me that? it took almost a week for the owner to get back with me. Over the planning stages he was slow at his responses. Sometimes it took a week to receive a response! Once we settled on the number of people and our menu he emailed me a quote. On the quote he left off a major portion of the appetizers. Once he finally answered, he told me to just add $33 to the original quote. That made our bill approximately $350... I knew that with taxes and tip the estimate could vary some. When I got our bill and went to pay I found out we were being charged $450. Approximately $100 more than our quote. Our bar tender/ waiter was no help in settling the matter so he finally got the manager who was rude and pompous. I showed her a copy of the email with the quote and she kept trying to justify the new price. She never spoke directly to me even though we were standing face to face. She kept talking thru our bar tender. Finally she walked out saying to him that she was going to call the owner. Why call the owner?? I was showing her a copy of the emailed bill, she had a copy of the quote in her hand. It took over 1/2 an hour to settle our bill. Way too long! I was under impressed by their organization and communication. Unfortunately I love their food. We ill probably eat there again, however, I don't believe I will be planning an event with them ever again. Our waiter did nothing all evening. Since we had used the catering menu service was buffet style no orders to take, no plates to deliver. Easiest $50 tip ever!! He never took drink orders or refills, never asked if we needed nothing else. He literally carried the food to the room and put it in the warming trays and that was all. Bottom line, get your information in writing, have that information readily available and be prepared to be hassled. read more

Cute interior and popular place - we waited for ~35 min to get seated. Food was ok. Randy's pizza is much better. Pasta was fine- note that no bread comes with meal. The waitress took the liberty of tipping herself 18% on the undiscounted bill (we used a gift certificate) which I thought was kind of presumptuous for a party of 4. I don't mind tipping well at all for good service and normally leave 20% or more......but really I think you should let the customer decide how the service was and how much they want to tip.....it's ethical and pretty standard in the US. Have been going for about five years now. All the stars would be filled if we were basing it on food alone. It's hands down the best Italian food outside of NYC. Calamari, Marinara, pizza rolls, Alfredo, panini, red clam linguine, pizza.... It's to die for! Best wings I have ever had in my life.... Spicy honey wings are from heaven. The food and the location are nothing short of amazing. However, the service has always been bad.... But the last two times I was almost in tears. Going out to dinner is such a treat and expense and the waitstaff is awful. Your drink never gets refilled and they consistently make you feel like you have inconvenienced them if you need extra sauce or dressing. I don't mind the food taking a while because it's so amazing but the wait staff is surly. Doesn't matter if it's busy or quiet.... You always feel like you are in the way. The last time I swore that we would only do take out again. Sad but true. Hope it swings around becAuse it is our favorite food. read more

Pizza's are far too expensive. I ordered a two topping pizza for lunch today. The basic pizza is about $15.65. I added pepperoni and onions which are hardly expensive toppings . I was charged $20.99 when I went to pick it up. Thats an absurd price for little more than an average tasting pizza. Dough, cheese, sauce and two basic toppings shouldn't cost more than about $14 or $15 tops. Thats the last pizza I order from these guys. read more

This is probably one of the worst impressions of an Italian pizzeria. With all due respect to the other comments please try a true pizza. Maybe dining in is better. But take out was soft, chewy and floppy. Meatball hero comes in a foil container with a plastic top. It allows the trapped heat to melt the roll which resembles something from a Nathan's hot dog eating contest. Dip it in water and slide it in. Toast the damn thing and wrap it in paper. Can't think of any reason to ever come back. read more

I don't know what happened to this place. The service has been getting worse and worse. Walked in and nobody bothered to greet us, although three of the teenage waitstaff were just hanging out and talking at the bar just 4 feet away from us. We pretty much then told them we'll be sitting down at a table, to which there was some lukewarm acknowledgment. Eventually we did get waited on, but our order was wrong despite the waiter asking twice before the food came out. And it wasn't as if the orders were difficult. Two slices of pepperoni pizza, one of their standard pasta dishes and calamari. The orders came out at all different times, with my dish coming out first, then 10 minutes later my wife's calamari, and then the kids's pizza slices coming out 10 minutes after that, so that my pasta dish was cold by the time we were all able to eat together. The food is still good, but with this terrible service we probably won't be back. There's lots of other options for homemade Italian in the area. read more
