This is a standout in Apex. It seems like such an unassuming little place from the outside. I've been to Italy and had pizza there, and the Margharita pizza at Anna's is the closest thing I've come to yet it the US. Their pizza has that dough that is thin and similar to a cracker, just like the pizza I had in Italy. The simple toppings are all it needs. I've also had the Rustica with sausage and mushrooms, and the flavor was OK but the weight of the toppings is too much for this thin dough. It made the dough sag when you held up a slice and made it kind of soggy. So simple is the way to go! read more

The service is horrible. We ordered some pretty basic pizza, and it took nearly forty five minutes to cook. Did I mention we had two adults and six kids? That five of those kids were six and under? Yeah. The waitress never checked our drinks, we had to ask for refills to keep the kids contained. They were not busy. They just flat didn't care. I complained, and the waitress just stared at me blankly. This wasn't our first bad experience with service, but it was our last. We aren't going back. The food is decent. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! My husband and I ordered take out from here and the package was not closed securely causing garlic butter sauce to leak all over my husbands clothes, all over my brand new suede boots and all over our car! It took the manager 2 days to call me back. I had to call them and Mauro Baglioni offered us $50 gift card for $200 dollars worth of damage. To make it all worse, our meal was not good. This is a great place for take out. The dining room is some what small and when they are busy it is almost impossible to get seated quickly. The food has always been good however the prices for two people to have dinner have some times been upwards of 40 bucks. Not that 40 for a nice dinner is a bad price but it is pasta or pizza. The staff has always been nice for pick up but I will say we don't normally eat in we are normally a take out because of the crowds. read more

The pizza is good but the service is slow and the wait is almost always long. The dining room is very cramped. Sitting anywhere near the door means you have to deal with people waiting for tables standing right near you And if it's cold outside you'll feel it every time the front door opens. We've been to Anna's on at least 4 occasions. It's incredibly noisy, to the point that none of us can hold a conversation w/ the person across the table from us. The pizza was soggy on the bottom and the garlic knots extremely doughy. We keep giving them another chance because we like to support our local restaurants. My girlfriend and I have been on a mission to find the best pizza in the area. We've tried mellow mushroom, trophy brewing, Anna's, and a few others. So far Anna's has the best pizza. It's delicious. It only gets docked a star because the service can be inconsistent and the one time I ordered the pizza as take out the guy on the phone was sort of rude. Then was kinda rude when I picked it up. Decided to try Anna's one night after going to a nearby brewery. Location is right in the middle of downtown apex and is very quaint. Got the spinach pizza and crostino. Spinach was delicious and would get again but crostino was overpriced and had no cheese. Not sure why a pizza with no cheese is more expensive than one with cheese. I have been working in downtown Apex for a few months now but had not tried Anna's. Today was the day! I ordered a slice of Chicken Parmesan pizza and a soda. While it was being prepared I waited in the resteraunt which is quite small and busy at 1pm. It didn't take too long for my order to be ready and I was on my way back to my office. The pizza over all was decent,not bad enough to scare me off but I don't think chicken parmesan is their strong suit. read more

Well tonight was Anna's last chance and she failed. We ordered a pie for take out. And just like the last three times my order was the only one on the oven when I picked it up so not sure why the 30 pick up time. No the restaurant was not crowded. But besides that the pies have been over cooked dark colored cheese and dryed out crust. So I will travel a mile or so further to rt 55 for a larger cheaper better pizza. read more

So slow. How slow? 40 minutes for 2 personal pizzas slow. On 8/11/18, our order for 2 personal pizzas, a soft drink, and a beer went to the kitchen at 7:18 pm. The pizzas were served to us at 7:56 pm. I'd call the service "indifferent," but that would be an insult to indifferent servers across the country. At no point during those long 40 minutes did the server refill our water, refill the soft drink, check on the pizza, inform the table when to expect them, or even provide us napkins and silverware -- we had to ask for those. She spent the 40 minutes sitting behind the upstairs bar, chatting with another server, fiddling with her phone, and pouring herself a half-dozen soft drinks from the bar. The pizzas were good -- not stellar -- but too greasy. By the time they arrived, the crust was too inundated by grease and too limp to hold the toppings at all, and so we had to eat them with knife and fork. On the plus side, we didn't get charged for the soft drink. Pretty sure that doesn't compensate for all the lost time. read more

We recently visited Anna's for dinner. We ordered spagetti and meatballs and "Anna's Splendido salad" We were disappointed to learn that the spaghetti and meatballs did not include a salad and we had to ask for bread, which I don't think was included, judging from the reaction we got when we asked for it. The bread appeared to be homemade, but tasted like cardboard. The salad was pricy (8.20) considering it had no meat in it. It consisted of mixed greens, a generous amount of mandarin oranges, gorgonzola cheese and a few paper thin almonds.They serve it with a balsamic dressing that was so strong I could not eat it. I asked for another dressing which was fine, but when the bill was presented to us, we were told there was an .85 cent chrg for the dressing. I will say though, that I have been there for lunch and it was good. As far as dinner goes....not for us. Their competition ( Daniel's) is a much better choice! read more

Horrible! I ordered a personal Margherita pizza to go, and after I ate only a third of it, it made my stomach feel like it was punched, or worse like a trash can. Waited almost 30min for a freaking pizza that was horrible. Half of the pizza's cheese was off the pizza itself and piled like a big wet poop around the box... and what's up with the cashier touching money and then touching my f*ck*ng pizza? What about gloves? Some of the people working there looked like they had not taken a shower in 4 days or looked like they had not changed clothes in months... It makes me feel like I was ripped off! I've eaten here twice and ordered delivery once. My takeaway from all 3 experiences would be to always order delivery. The food is good, I don't have any complaints about the pizza or pasta. The atmosphere is not my favorite. It's a little cramped and very casual, often full of children. I prefer quieter restaurants with more personal space, but it seems like a great place for families with kids. I haven't found anywhere in the area with better pizza, which is probably why it's a little pricey. Worth it if you want good quality though. In Apex for a day or two and had seen this place before. Had lunch there with my wife and daughter. I'm not quite sure what some of the low reviews talking about dirtiness or noise were coming from. I think some of you Yelpers get a little too elite and persnickety when it comes to restaurants. The lunch specials were a great value and my daughter loved the pizza. I'm going to be coming here for work a couple of times over the next few months and will give them my business again. Pizza was not the ultimate New York style, but it wasn't bad at all. The service is here is abominable. 45 minutes waiting for anything besides drinks. Waiter disappears. This is not a new restaurant so you would think they would have this figured out by now. Visit Anna's at least twice a month. Always enjoy the spirited atmosphere and outstanding food. Quality is high and service very good. It does get a bit cramped sometimes and cold near the front door in the winter. But Anna's has definitely become one of the cornerstones of historic downtown Apex. read more

Excellent pizza! I moved here recently and after spending the day unpacking and organizing I was too tired to cook. I had a craving for pizza so I decided to go to Anna's Pizzeria, which I had noticed one day driving by downtown Apex. I decided to order the personal pizza since it was just me. Boy was I surprised! It's big enough for 2 hungry people! I ordered it with pepperoni and meatballs, which were actually sliced pieces of meatballs. It was perfect! The tomato sauce was just right, the cheese was perfectly melted and the pepperoni and meatballs we full of flavor. Needless to say, I took half of the pizza home. Guess what my lunch is going to be tomorrow. Oh! I almost forgot! The service was excellent! The staff is very friendly, helpful and professional. read more

Anna's Pizzeria has good caesar salads, lasagna, and chicken parm. I like that they put the salad dressing on the side. They don't always bring bread to the table so if you want it, be sure to ask. It's not a quiet place but friendly. Also, not always fast but worth the wait. My one pet peeve is I always ask for light sauce on my dishes and they seem to prepare however they want. We had previosuly been huge fans of Anna's but the orignial customer appreciation side of the experience faded and it had drifted to a pizza chain feel. Following a break of several months we decided to give Anna's another try. Wish we listened to our instinct and gone elsewhere for the Friday night pie. Pizza toppings are overpriced ($ 2.90 for each topping on a large pie ?!) Come on! The pizza is OK, but nothing really special. Went to the pick up window which peers into the back of the kitchen. The staff was sharing a sandwich next to the food preparation table and the mixer with a batch of dough churning. Seriously guys, this is Food Safety 101. You're better than that.
