All of our entrees were generous portions and so delicious. We all ended up taking some of our food home. All of the entrees came with a sals that was so fresh and light. The side dishes options were great. I tried the mashed potatoes and they tasted homemade. The restaurant was pretty quiet for a Saturday night. Our server was attentive and very friendly. There are some specials available which seemed to be mostly rehashed or small spins off of the regular menu items. The Clams appetizer is definitely a good choice. Very fresh and robust with a generous drawn butter accompaniment. The Blackened Ahi Tuna was cooked well but was plated alone amidst a plate too large for the serving. The Steak Au Poivre was cooked beautifully however it was made with capers instead of the traditional Black Peppercorns and finished with a wine instead of Cognac which lent a different flavor profile to the dish. I much would have rather had the traditional preparation. Deserts were fine and coffee was extremely good. It was a nice night out. We would return but it doesn't make it to the "go to" list.

We don't come as often as we used to because yes it is pricey but I would much rather come here and have a special night with incredible service, food, and drinks than still spend over $100 at another restaurant and get average food. The Grand Tavern is unpretentious, welcoming, entrees offer sizable portions. I have NEVER left hungry. Main complaints I see are price - again, yes it's expensive but it's worth it. Also you can see the menu before you go, how do you not know what you're walking into?? Complaints about the burger. First of all the menu changes seasonally. There's no way their patty is frozen. Everything is FRESH AF. And yeah, American cheese is king on a burger. Again, it's on the menu what did you expect? This is a restaurant that has literally never disappointed. We had Randi as our server and as first time visitors to this Sea Girt location, she helped us get acquainted with the menu and the restaurant as a whole. We were scouting it out for the following day to watch the Knicks Finals game. The restaurant is loaded with screens! They have larger screens on the wall and smaller ones all next to each other above the bar. And they pipe in the game sound once the game starts! So all boxes were checked off for us. Now we're already starting to become regulars! We had Julian as our server. Another great Tommy's employee! Turns out he went to high school with our son! Small world.
