Better than I remember it. This is my 3rd time at this restaurant chain but my first time at this location. The food was amazing. I ordered the shrimp and grits and my boyfriend got an omelet. I live close by to this place and I've gone to ones in other cities so I figured I'd try it for brunch on a Sunday. Sunday brunch can be tricky in Baton Rouge because I don't always want to plan ahead or wait an hour for a table so this place is a win. I checked in online ahead of time and had a table within 5 mins of arriving. I didn't realize this place had cocktails! Perhaps when I went before I didn't notice but they had some that sounded great. I wasn't really in the mood so I can't speak to how they were but the options sounded great and I'll likely return. For the food, you have many options for all of your standard breakfast fare. For the non breakfast fan I probably wouldn't recommend. This place is more breakfast than brunch, with not many lunch options from what I saw. That being said I love breakfast. I got one of the omelets with chorizo and cheese and avocado and it was delicious and normal sized (not huge like some). I was happy to see calorie counts that weren't all above 900 like iHop. The prices were reasonable and my omelet was really good! My table got another omelet with crab and gravy (also yummy) and French toast that came with a ton of food. Below average breakfast food. Coffee was way too strong even with putting 5-6 creamers in it. The hashbrowns were old and not fresh. The Madi Gras omelette was just ok. There were about 4 items on the menu I wanted to order but I settled on The Popeye, which has a different name now. They ran out of strawberry jam which was a bummer so I had to settle on blackberry. The Good: The ambiance and the staff is friendly. The menu has a vast selection for any sort of appetite. The Not-So Good: Every location I have been to, I have had slow service. At this location, it was more shocking because the restaurant was nearly empty because it was after the lunch rush and I was with a party of 3. When the food finally came out, my food was not hot enough. I had gotten chocolate chip pancakes, however for some reason the taste was not satisfying. Overall I would consider returning, but there are plenty of brunch alternatives that I would rather try. However, I would advise anyone who is going to set aside 2-3 hours of time. The wait was minimal when we arrived. We both had omelets with potatoes and we split an upgraded entree pancake (2.99 for a flavored choice with entree). The upgraded pancake was a good value at 2.99 but wasn't anything special. Our food arrived at our table with hot plates and warm which is a tell tale sign it was sitting under the heater in the back a little too long. We were missing syrup, salsa/sour cream side and utensils. The staff was quick to remedy these problems and refill our water. And the minimal amount of country potatoes was super apparently. The omelette's are the way to go along with a side of their grits. Consistently cooked to perfection. The Popeye is my favorite with spinach, bacon, onions and Monterrey jack cheese so yummy. I'm not a bacon fan and rarely ever eat it, but I even love their bacon. The French toast is just okay at best, just not as sweet as I prefer. They offer a nice selection of fresh fruit as well. This place is simply the most relaxing place I've been to so far, the music and ambiance is so sublime. The waiter who helped me was training a young (very)beautiful waitress on her first day. I was completely lost on what to decide on and I just do what I normally do and ask for the recommendation, the gentleman told me that his personal favorite is a Lafitte Burrito. When I received my plate, it was warm to the touch freshly cooked to my liking. I took my knife from a prepped utensil cloth and attempted to slice into the burrito, and to my surprise it sliced through like butter with no resistance. It was difficult to pick up properly without having to spill everywhere and I failed each time but I didn't care, I ate the first piece and I'm so happy. Once again the proportions were perfect, I felt full but not stuffed which is to me "The Perfect" meal. I'd recommend this place especially in the morning before they get crowded. read more

Waiter was on point and considerate (back to that) and after being extremely indecisive, so many potentially yummy options, I chose Shrimp n Grits. To my surprise this location wasn't packed like the one in Citi Place. The hostess and waiter were very helpful. I even remembered to ask for the complimentary beignets!
