E was a fantastic server, they were so friendly and made great recommendations! I loved my vanilla cold brew, and that there were several iced coffee options- that's rare at most breakfast spots! Their mimosa and cocktail menu also was huge and looked delicious- all were available non-alcoholic as well they offer gluten and vegan menus from the beginning which is extra customer friendly! 3 of the 4 of us ordered the Lemon Blueberry Goat Cheese Pancakes and were highly impressed- love that they come with eggs your way and a breakfast meat for the price! Another Broken Egg definitely has a spot on my brunch rotation. I don't come here as often as I'd like to, as the wait times are very long even if you join the waitlist ahead of time. It seems they have a staffing issue and cannot always use all the available tables, which can add to some people's frustrations. The staff was hard at work on my most recent visit, and although they seemed a bit overwhelmed, the restaurant was only about half full. The service was friendly, and the food was excellent as always. I had the traditional breakfast with their house made chicken sausage. I think their pork sausage patties are also excellent, but it is really unique to get such tasty chicken sausage. A great brunch option, just may require a bit of patience. We arrived on a beautiful Sunday afternoon and Imagine our disappointment when we arrived at 12:30 pm and were told that for a table for 2, it's a "standard " -10-20 minute wait )but there were 15 people ahead of us so we didn't really believe the girl checking us in.) We stopped for a Wednesday lunch. First timers. The crowd was medium and the place was clean and neat. We got immediate service from Hunter our waiter. The libations looked wonderful but could not imbibe this time. Well onward to the main menu.. So many choices. I was caught in the seafood aisle with the shrimp Benedict. Only hoping I can return soon and have the crab wrap or the wonderful lobster omelet. Our food was served fresh and steaming hot. Scoop the lard and smother everything, right? I jest, of course. This place is doing breakfast and more *just* right. From a solid Bloody Mary to 'biscuit beignets' to chicken & waffles, you simply cannot miss here. I know, beignets are not to be made with biscuits, but stay with me here: get a half-order if you have no faith, devour these little munchkins that are dusted in powdered sugar, and validate my thoughts. They are really stinkin' good. I opted for a Supreme omelet on this visit, nestled against a bowl of grits (yay! Southern!), and accompanied by an English muffin. French chefs get trained early in the art of the omelet, cooking them low & slow to get that fluffy goodness, and Another Broken Egg must subscribe to the same curriculum. This omelet was more than an inch high, stuffed with 'shrooms, bacon, & cheese inside airy layers of egg. Smashing success! Throw in the grits, which I rarely opt for, which were perfectly cooked and dee-lish. The Mrs. chose the chicken & waffles, because she's more southern than I am, but how hard can it be to put chicken strips on a waffle? Welp, it must take some skill because ABC is straight nailing this one. Light, fluffy Belgian-style waffles with crispy, hand-breaded chicken, and with some maple syrup, boy this is good! Seriously, a must try. Great space, fairly easy to find, though it's JoCo, so be prepared for medians and impassable turning spots. There had to be at least 25 empty tables and we were told that it would be about a five minute wait. Five minutes came and went and we still hadn't been seated. The person greeting people was training a new person, and we felt like we were more of an inconvenience than anything else. We had been to the same restaurant in a different state last weekend and we're so impressed by them and that is the reason we decided to try it here in Overland Park, but I can guarantee we will never be back. This for the new prairie village location because I could not find a Yelp page for them! When you walk in, the ambiance is great. I liked the lighting. We chose to sit outside to enjoy the nice weather.We both got the seasonal specials and our kids had kids meals. The barbacoa tostado type dish was very very good. The only thing it could have used are some jalapeños or some more spice. My husband got the chicken fried steak and he thought it was too bland. The potatoes were overcooked and bland so I chose not to eat them. Y'all are in training so the wait was fine- but it did take 1.5 hour before we had our food. My wait, which was supposed to be 35 to 40 mins based on being on the waitlist, turned out to be 1 hour and roughly 10 mins. They were out of a lot of things by the time we were seated. All my food was cold and I will never order the sausage or sausage gravy again. It was just gross. It has a very strong flavor that was just bad. I had to scrape the gravy off the biscuit. My husband ordered over medium eggs and bacon with his pancakes. The pancakes were cold and flavorless. And he received scrambled eggs and the nasty sausage. We were in a hurry so we didn't ask for the correct items. We also requested salt and pepper as the eggs on both our plates were flavorless. They were never brought to us. The service was not great. She would be MIA for long time periods and when it was time to request our check, she just grabbed my husbands card and paid for the meal without giving us a ticket to verify. ABE is my husband and myself's brunch date spot to go. You won't find anything that compares to their food in the KC area. They are truly a one of a kind experience for our area. We love Cajun and Creole style food especially the seafood options. The service has always been amazing we love being able to strike up a conversation with any of the wait staff we have received. Try their pepper sauce. Brunch always goes good with their cold brew as well. As I suggested this place to some friends in hopes that the restaurant was similar to my previous experience. I was not disappointed, the beignets could have come from New Orleans themselves and the orange jam that was served with them was amazing. Well, it's safe to say I will never be eating at another broken egg cafe again. Very nice people and service, but I found my food to be of poor taste and found a small curly dark hair in my food. My friend also found a different colored hair in her food. This was a problem and we immediately notified the waitress. She seemed very flustered by the situation. The manager was then sent out and talked to us, apologized for the mess up, offered a refund for the entree, which the hair was found, and a gift card. I saved this place as a bookmark that feels like forever ago. This place was better than I expected and I will be going back. My wife ordered the Lobster & Brie Omelet while I had the Broken Egg Biscuit Sandwich, we shared a half dozen of beignets plus my wife ordered the El Salvador Red Honey Coffee. The beignets were amazing and reminded me of New Orleans, the Biscuit Sandwich was unique and had great flavor. I did not care for the side of country potatoes (missing flavor (not missing salt) ) My wife loved the Lobster & Brie Omelet as well as her coffee, needed some additional sweeter but they did not have a non-dairy creamer option. The food is great and atmosphere is pretty chill. My concern is one of their servers is very rude. This male server decided he was going to yell at my daughter when she asked him about her drink because he had given everyone else in our party theirs but not mine or hers. He was very rude to only the POC in our party. So much so that my friend commented that she thought he was prejudice towards just the POC. Weird thing is he himself is a POC. Fast toward to today and we see several servers so we mistakenly thought we wouldn't get him but alas we did. My daughter said she didn't want him serving us so we got up and left. This place has recently opened and my partner wanted to give it a try after her parent's recommendation. I think we came in with high expectations and hungry tummy's instead of a clean slate thoughts when trying a new place. She ordered first the lemon fennel bloody mary and neither of us were impressed. It tasted like a normal bloody mary. We shared a 1/2 order of scrumptious beignet (total of 4) which came with a honey marmalade. She ordered a Mardi-Gras Omelete with a side of grits and English muffin. She raved about the omelette but disappointed with lack of flavor for the grits. I personally ordered the Monterey Power Omelete with a side of fruit and English muffin. However, they gave me a side of breakfast potatoes which I immediately notified the staff that they gave me the wrong side and eventually brought my side of fruit. Truthfully, even though they made a mistake and I waited for my fruit, everything was great but it wasn't anything unique. Staff was very sweet and it was crazy busy. I'm going to assume they lacked experience but not charm. If I could it an honest rating then I'd say a 3.5. There was a decent amount of shrimp that was paired with mushrooms, peppers, onions, and a special tasty sauce.
