Instead of having to wait for your table, you get on the waitlist before you even leave your house with the click of a button on Yelp. By the time you arrive at the restaurant, your table is ready for you, and viola - you just skipped the line! It's ridiculously convenient. I've had Another Broken Egg on my bookmark list since it opened, which is quite a shame because I believe that it's been years. Lately I've been on a mission to finally visit all of the places I've always wanted to check out but never have, and that definitely included ABE. I rarely struggle with my decision making in terms of what to order, but I just couldn't make my mind up here. When I inferred that I was struggling with this to our server, so emphatically recommended I try the Hey Lucy omelette, based on my finalist choices. I think she led me to a good place! I will admit that the first couple of bites were probably more appealing than the last few, so I don't know what that was about, but it was still an enjoyable experience. My wife ordered the lobster and brie omelette, but switched out the brie for mozzarella. We both had high hopes for this dish, but weren't that impressed. Because we were first time guests, they brought us out a round of complimentary biscuit beignets. I wish I could have bathed in these. Im surprised this place has such good reviews. We ordered takeout via DoorDash. Grits with tomato and bacon. Fried chicken eggs gravy on a biscuit with cheese. It was over cooked, hard, dry chicken tenders, no gravy, no egg, no cheese and a dry biscuit. It was quite horrible. Grits, meh, they were interesting, not the greatest. A couple of really great things happened during my visit to Another Broken Egg Cafe. 1. I got to catch up for the first time since Covid with a great friend of mine over Christmas break. We sat at the bar. First come, first serve and completely skipped the waiting list. I had a great Lemon Blueberry Mimosa- tasty. Nice spin on a classic sans O.J. My friend ordered the Pomegranate Mule. 2. I got to try Chilaquiles for the first time and that has been on my to do list since I learned more about them last year. The really cool thing was the Chilaquiles weren't even on the menu anymore and our bartender checked to see if they still had all of the ingredients to make them. They did. Score. What's a Chilaquile you might ask? Chilaquiles from the Nahuatl word chīlāquilitl is a traditional Mexican breakfast dish consisting of corn tortillas cut in quarters and lightly fried. I love nachos- obvi. I'd say that Chilaquiles are Nacho's cousin. Nachos are hard tortilla chips eaten with your hands with lots of delicious melted cheese. Chilaquiles, on the other hand, are softened tortilla chips (made from corn tortillas) and eaten with a fork. The over-medium eggs that came with it really helped with the softening here. Guajillo chile sauce, along with chorizo, Jack cheese, red onions, radishes, goat cheese, cilantro and lime all made for a great dish. Hopefully, they return to the menu again sometime. Very fun. I started with Fried Green Tomatoes. They were great. My friend ordered the Crabcakes and Fried Green Tomatoes- jumbo lump crab cakes and fried green tomatoes, topped with Cajun rémoulade sauce and red peppers. Served with a fresh spinach salad with tomatoes, goat cheese and honey jalapeño vinaigrette. She enjoyed it! We also ordered their southern-style Biscuit Beignets that come with a really great honey marmalade dipping sauce. Again- another really fun menu item. Sugary deliciousness. Another Broken Egg Cafe was definitely a great backdrop to a very fun meet up. I'll definitely return next time I am in town. I had classic eggs benedict which came with breakfast potato's. The food was good, but the service needs improvement. I ordered beignets to go with my coffee while I waited for my eggs. My coffee arrived, but the beignets never came. Another issue was the coffee. It was room temperature. Even after I asked for another cup, the server could not give me a hot cup of coffee. They have a large menu. There are numerous types of benedict dishes, omelets, pancakes, french toast, sandwiches, burgers, and shrimp and grits. Just left here really pissed off. This was my second not so great visit here, and I definitely will not be back. I was in the area and was craving beignets, so I decided to stop in and give this place another try. I ordered beignets and a black stone benedict. The beignets came out first and I started munching on those. The first thing I noticed was how crunchy they were on the outside. They were overcooked. I ate them anyway and didn't complain. I figured it was no big deal and that everything else would make up for it. The benedict then came out. It looked really unappealing and watery because the hollandaise sauce was separating. I've never seen that before. Then I started to cut into my egg, and the egg white just kind of slid off and revealed the clear, gooey, uncooked inside. I pointed it out to the bartender/waiter, saying that the egg was way undercooked. His response was "It's a poached egg..." I said "Yes, but the white should be cooked." He took it back and had it remade. Some time went by and he brought a second one out. It looked just as unappetizing in presentation as the first. But mainly I just cared about the egg being cooked. So I cut into an egg and it STILL had uncooked egg white. It wasn't as bad as the first, but it was still fairly slimy inside. The bartender asked me how it was, I said it was better but still not cooked and I didn't want to eat it. He scooped up the plate and said he'd have it remade again. I asked if I could just order something else and he insisted on having it remade and took off before I could stop him. I looked at the time and realized I was running late for an appointment and didn't have time to wait for a third. I flagged down another waiter and asked if I get please just get my check because I had to go. Just as she handed me the check, they brought out another benedict. This time, a man came out to question me, who I assume was a manager. I explained that my eggs were undercooked twice. He then tried to justify just like the bartender had, which made me more upset. I eat eggs benedict all the time and I know how poached eggs should be cooked. The white is supposed to be COOKED. Anyway, since they brought out a third one after I had already said I didn't want it, I told them to bag it because I was out of time. The manager didn't comp my order, or at the very least, discount it. So I was charged $13 for eggs I won't even eat at this point. I appreciated their diligence in having it remade several times, but what I did not appreciate was them trying to justify their undercooked eggs. Own up to your shitty eggs and train your cook how to poach an egg. But I guess I couldn't expect that if the management doesn't even know how a poached egg is supposed to be cooked. EDIT: I was curious after I got home and decided to see how the third round of poached eggs looked. This time the OVERcooked them until even the yolk was cooked. I can't believe my awful experience with this place today. I really hope they decide to follow up and comp my order, because this whole experience was totally unacceptable. How does a breakfast/brunch restaurant not know how to prepare eggs? I guess I won't be dining at this location anymore. read more

Went to this location of Another Broken Egg Cafe for the first time. You will find it located in The Shoppes of South Dale. My hubby and I went for brunch on a Wednesday about 11:30ish. We walked right in and we were seated right away because the restaurant was empty. Our waitress Suzie came over promptly and offered us a drink. We ordered 2 coffees and an order of Beignets to start while we waited for our food. We proceeded to order our food and also stated that the coffee wasn't hot. She brought us 2 new cups of coffee. They were lukewarm as well but we just chalked it up to the fact that we won't be having any hot coffee with our brunch today! Approximately 5 minutes later, really fast, our food arrived. The Beignets we ordered never arrived to us. We both ordered traditional Eggs Benedict with potatoes. The Eggs Benedict was delicious and the piece of ham was a very generous size. We both enjoyed the dish. When we received the check there was a charge for the Beignets. We brought it to Suzie's attention and she corrected the check. A nice spot for a brunch. They allow you to put yourself in line before getting to the restaurant through yelp. That is what we did, we checked the wait time and put ourselves on the list before leaving. In the times of COVID, that is helpful since they do not allow you to wait in the waiting room anymore. They have indoor and outdoor covered fans seating. We chose to sit indoor and they not have their menus electronic with a QR code. Their menu is an extensive breakfast menu with vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options. In addition, they have breakfast drinks too, but you can't be served before 11. For breakfast, I chose the pancake flights because I could not decide which pancake I wanted. I love that they do that because it's great for an indecisive person like me! The three I got where the lemon ricotta, peach cobbler and banana foster. They were all delicious and left me full for a while. Our first experience but it won't be the last! Great and friendly service: Christalyn was the main server and she was training Barnet. They were both friendly and let us know about the training (he will be a great server on his own!). The kitchen manager came around to ask how everything tasted. That was super nice! The hostess canceled my waiting list place in line stating I didn't respond, but I did. When I showed her I responded but they canceled she added me back to the list as a courtesy and we had to wait an additional 15 minutes to be seated. She was rude about this. Strike 1. Before getting there, I raved about the quality of the food, the portions, the service. I even stated there would be a wait. I've visited a location in another state and ordered the same meal and received more food. I finished my meal before my friends did and couldn't figure out why until I showed my friends a picture of my food from the previous location. They then pointed out it was more food. I wish I had've taken a picture of the meal before dining to show a comparison of the two meals. Strike 2. Please get rid of the scrambled egg base that you use. It's awful. My friends meals were ok. But nothing to write home about. The only great thing about this location was our server was great. I drove 35 minutes out of my way and invited friends to this disappointment. I definitely won't visit this location again. I'll wait until I'm traveling again to visit another location in another state. Please get it together. Within 5 min, we ordered, got our drinks and waited. Waited about 25 minutes till I asked our server if our food was ready. He advised there was a large party before us. As noted from my previous review, I LOVED this place. I am from New York and come to Tampa at least once a month (sometimes more) and always find an excuse to come here. The mimosas are Great. Today however, I went with my mom around 10am and as my mom was going to take a bite of her McMuffin, I looked up and saw MOLD on the back of it. I stopped her right on time and she proceeded to gag and spit up her food. I brought this to the attention of the manager who didn't apologize, but offered to take my moms food off the tab. That obviously was not acceptable to me because I didn't feel comfortable eating my own food after this and had only eaten a bite of my omelette. After explaining this to my server BRI, she was completely understanding and kind. She agreed and comped the whole meal and offered a coupon for a future visit. This restaurant is definitely taking advantage of the 21st century technology. When I thought I would check this place out, I noticed that there was a wait list that I could sign up for. Good service, Kristine was our server. She asked if we were first timers there and explain the menu. We started out with mimosas (lemon berry & black cherry), they were about 7$ each. A pitcher with 4 drinks was 26$. My mom ordered the Mardi Gras Omelet (crawfish,shrimp, and andouille sausage), she stated that the andouille sausage had all the flavor while the shrimp and crawfish didn't really have flavor. She also ordered the tomato hollandaise on the side, so she didn't have that additional flavor there. She was really pleased with the grits, she wasn't let down at all. I ordered the seasonal Strawberry Pound Cake French Toast. Strawberries were amazingly fresh and was also topped with whipped cream. I sent this dish back because the pound cake's texture seemed like the pound cake was previously frozen and thawed, maybe grilled for grill marks. Not pleasingly at all. Arrived 15 minutes after putting myself on the waitlist. Frowning hostess with no name tag told me it would be 15-20 more minutes. The waitlist indicated the wait would be 9-19 minutes in total, so having to wait an additional 15-20 minutes more was disappointing. But if they had a few heaters out there it would been have great. But they didn't. We were seated within the 15 minute time frame but the frowning, unpleasant hostess without a name tag shouted unpleasantly, as she made her way to the hostess stand "EXCUSE ME!!". Very off-putting!! Since she had no name tag perhaps her employers will be able to identify her by knowing she was manning the hostess stand between 11:00-11:30am on Sunday, 2/6. She was shortish, had curly brown hair that was held in a bun. Our server, Lynn was quite pleasant and arrived to take our order about 7 minutes after we were seated. The young woman who brought our beverages was very friendly (she was also helping as a hostess, but she is not to be mistaken for the other grouchy hostess mentioned earlier.).This friendly one has vibrant straight burgundy hair and was taller. Food arrived in about15 minutes. I ordered Huevos Rancheros with the eggs cooked over hard, but they were served to me runny--not happy about that. Big no no for me!! Had to send it back. They redid it and it was perfect. Should also mention that Lynn used both our names when she delivered our tabs to be signed--a very nice touch! My food and my dining companion's food was good. Excellent staff, food, & atmosphere. This place is my go-to breakfast place. You can tell they are pretty good because most of the time we go theirs always a wait but usually not to long. I always order the traditional day starter which is the norm (eggs, bacon or some other meat, potatoes, etc). Today I ordered a Belgian waffle with eggs & bacon. The waffle was made perfect. A little crispy on the outside but soft on the inside! My new favorite thing to order from there now.
